Government By Deception Serves As Eye Opener for Americans.
It was with great interest I read the work of author Jan Lamprecht, a former Rhodesian who has lived in South Africa since the take-over by Mugabe in the early 1980's. I first read Mr. Lamprecht's work on the Rense.com website, and found it easy to read, personal and informative.

When Government By Deception was completed and offered to the public, I bought six copies for friends of mine. Two of them live in South Africa. The others are from the states. All have found the book to be an interesting and informative read. They are glad to see someone offering some real information on southern Africa. Mr. Lamprecht has good sources of information and some very interesting interviews are scattered throughout the book.

If you like history, you will find interesting historical facts on southern Africa. The book was carefully researched and has many quotes by well known political players in this bloody and tension filled arena. Due to this book and articles by Mr. Lamprecht, the American people will, if they choose, see the many similarities between our countries. They will learn how the communists have pitted the blacks and whites against each other in a war that neither will benefit from. The destruction and suffering going on in southern Africa at this time will serve only a few who seek power and wealth for themselves alone. There is a message here for American's. This book will help you understand more clearly the signifigance of how little truthful news we are exposed here in the states, regarding southern Africa. How much do we hear regarding the brutal murders of some 1400 white Afrikaner farmers in South Africa? More recently the farm murders and the takeover of white farms in Zimbabwe are at last getting some attention. You will read about the workings of socialism and the potent weapon of white guilt. The importance of detecting the mind games and psychological warfare being used on the American as well as the African people each and every day.

I believe you will be surprised and perhaps shocked at some of the information presented in this book. It is an excellent buy, and a great effort by someone who KNOWS first hand what it feels like to see your beloved homeland painted "RED" with the blood of her people.

My suggestion to fellow Americans is to buy the book, read it, learn from it, and act on what you have learned.

Goverment By Deception
I have read the book Government by Deception by Jan Lamprecht. I found the book had good information on the present day situation in South Africa. Jan is a computer-programming expert and used his talent to give a great analysis of the situation. He lays out the situation with an open mind gives credit where credit is due even though he may not agree with the results. He grew upon farm in Zimbabwe and left there when Mugabe came to power. He now lives in South Africa and has been in the middle of all the changes in Government. He is a great writer and has written a very interesting book

...

Let's Talk Facts
The previous reviewer,Rueben, is obviously basing his review on a personal dislike of the author. This book contains true facts about how communism infiltrates a society and the intimidation tactics they use to make people cooperate with them. It shows how they use class and race envy as a tool to motivate people to their cause. This book shows the atrocities committed to both the blacks and the whites, and those who call it racist have definitely not read the book too carefully.Even on the website, the author shows the horrible tragedy of the many lives lost amongst all races due to the communist thirst for power at any cost. There is more to this story than race; its greed. The book will serve as a warning to Americans not to listen to the Marxism that is touted in the country that supposedly makes everything equal. In this book he shows how communism creates crop failure, and how it prevents any country, not just African countries, from fully developing their rich resources. While they blame their economic failures on drought, it is easy to see by the evidence this man presents, that though many countries have drought, it is how the land is managed that makes is prosperous, something that communism has failed to do.If you really are open minded to truth, this book will provide a true history of the region. Whether or not one likes the author, is not the point.

The first rug book that has really been useful
This is the first rug book that I've encountered that has really been helpful to me. Mr. Winitz obviously knows his field thoroughly, and presents the most useful material needed for a new to internediate collector in a straight-forward, commonsensical manner. And he obviously has a passion for what he does. I recommend it highly.

Superb! Readable! Intelligent and intellible!
I knew of Winitz through his stellar reputation as the owner of the world class Claremont Rug Company. This book was apparently written at the beginning of his career, and in its passion and intelligent, articulate presentation, foreshades the success he was to reach. Both the most consice (just 50 pps.) and most helpful book I've seen for the newcomer and enthusiast for fine carpets. Call Claremont and get their seasonal catalogs. Great rug photos and wonderful commentary.

Excellent introduction to fine carpets.
Mr. Winitz, the owner of the very pretigious Claremont Rug Co, has a superb ability to simplify this complex subject for the newcomer, yet give enough detailed insight for the collector as well. His 50 page text gave me more clarity about choosing an antique carpet as both a decorative and art purchase than the other 5 books I read did altogether! Wonderful color plates of rugs and great photos of the weavers and the traditional village lifestyle. His style is thoroughly readable, the effortless communication of someone who knows his field fully. Before I knew it, I read the entire text in a single sitting.

this book is well worth tracking down
This is a a delightful book to read while you're pregnant. It follows Danielle Steele and six of her friends during their pregnancies -- it's like seven separate stories compiled in one book. The moms were invited by Danielle Steele (the novelist) to participate in a prenatal exercise class -- the moms include Averil (a young, wildish New Yorker married to a doctor), Mary (owner of a skin care salon), Katherine (a bubbly, active, happy psychologist) Susan (a lawyer), Jan (a TV newswoman) and Diana (a practical mom married to an opthamologist). Some are first time moms; some are not. Some work outside the home; some do not. Some are nervous ninnies; others are not. Some had morning sickness and excessive weight gain and other problems; others breezed through the nine months. Each of the twenty-nine chapters in the book covers one aspect of pregnancy or childbearing (finding out, amniocentisis, sex, going home, postpartum depression, etc.) and has entries from each of the seven women about their experiences with respect to that topic. Reading this book is like talking with seven of your friends about their experiences during all aspects of pregnancy. It's not a scary book -- some of the women drank, smoked, didn't follow the prescribed prenatal diet regime -- and all of the babies turned out just fine, the moms were happy, and every single one of the seven was reassuring about how you WILL lose the baby weight (it seemed to come off a little too easily for some of the women). The best part -- the eight pages of pictures of the moms, their babies & their husbands.

Greatest Book for the first time mom!
This is a wonderful book for the first time mother. I found that I was referring to this book every time something new happend in my own pregnacy. It is a comfort as well as a joy to read. Its also great because there are things in this book that all your friends who have had babies fail to tell you. Its not the "pregnacy is scary" book. I really enjoyed the different writing styles as this is window into the life style of different womens pregnacy as well as creative ways to handle the stress of pregnacy.

Having a Baby
This is a terrific book! The stories of these 7 women having their many babies gives the reader an idea of some of the different possibilities for pregnancies and how each birth is different - as well as that each baby is unique.
Great for every woman who is pregnant to show how there is a wide range of how it all can happen. I really enjoyed the writing style and all the stories. really worth reading

Hey grandpa!
I think my grandfather's life has changed tremendously since he discovered this form of healing. Learning more about it is beneficial to anyone that is interested in taking a different path through their life. He does an awesome job at explaining what he knows.

Personal Healing Presentation Well Received
After reading Dr.Holland's book, I invited him to address the Athens Alternative Health Network in Athens, Ohio. He did a three hour presentation based on his personal healing journey. It was so well received that he was invited back to cover all the points he made in his book, "The Healing Spot." He will present a two day seminar in February, 2002 and people are already reserving places. The book is so direct and easy to read. Whether your illness is serious or you want to prevent illness at any level this book is a must to read.

Ultimate Cure for Disease!
If you or anyone you know is suffering from a terminal illness, you must buy this book. Books on healing are usually dry or difficult to understand, but this one is interesting and fun to read. It's a personal account, written by a man who saved his own life and has dedicated himself to helping others save theirs.
I know the author, Jan Holland, and can testify to the fact that he healed himself and has been instrumental in healing others. Jan is a popular speaker at the Baltimore Angels, a group I founded in 1998. At these meetings, Jan revealed the secret to regaining his health. Now you can read about his methods in the comfort of your own home.

Homework Assignment
I liked this book becuase I liked finding out of Henny was gong to get any babies, and finding out if the Tomten was goiong to be tricked or if he was going to eat all of her eggs. It is hard to read the words in the book because of the colored pages. The words are good for 5 to 8 year olds to read. Hedgie has a lot of tricks, and helps Henny.

Jan Brett...Wonderful, as Always
Poor Henny, all she really wants is to be a mother hen and have a bunch of baby chicks, just like her friend Goosey-Goosey. But that is not to be. For every morning, the Tomten comes and takes her newly laid egg for his breakfast. Enter Hedgie, the hedgehog with a clever idea and a few tricks up his proverbial sleeve. Early each morning, before the rooster crows and wakes the Tomten up, Hedgie takes Henny's egg and substitutes something else for it...first an acorn, then a strawberry, a mushroom and then a potato. And each day, the Tomten is left hungry. He becomes so angry that he threatens to eat Henny if she does not leave him an egg for breakfast the next day. Henny is scared and frantic, but Hedgie still has one last surprise left for that mean Tomten and an even bigger surprise for Henny.....Jan Brett, has written a simple, witty Scandinavian folk tale, starring her wonderful and always endearing, Hedgie. Her text is only outdone by her detailed, expressive artwork, complete with signature needlepoint border and clues, stiched in, of what's to come. Young children will be entranced as they listen to this humorous tale while following the illustrations and guessing at the story plot. Hedgie's Surprise makes a terrific gift and is a great addition to all home libraries.

Charming and Clever!
Every morning Henny has her egg stolen by a porrige hating tomten. He steals the egg and cooks it up for his breakfast. Henny puts up with this until one day when she sees Goosey-Goosey swimming with her newly hatched goslings in the pond. Henny longs for a batch of chicks of her own! She begins to weep. Our hero Hedgie hears her crying and offers to help. The next day Hedgie substitutes an acorn for the egg in Henny's nest. The tomten finds it and cooks it up for his breakfast but it does not fill him up. The following days a strawberry, mushroom and then a potato are left for the tomten. They do not fill him up and the tomten threatens to eat Henny if she does not leave him an egg the next day! Hedgie comes up with the perfect plan to rid Henny of the Tomten! The next day the tomten gets the surprise of his life when he comes for the egg! He runs off and learns to enjoy porrige once again! This story is a winner from start to finnish. Jan Brett's beautiful pictures bring this story to life.

I Can Solve My Own Problems will enable you to teach the children in your classroom to do just that. I have used this program in my third grade classroom for the past four years with great success. My students no longer bring their conflicts to me. They solve them entirely on their own. I would recommend it to any classroom teacher or counselor.

This is one worth reading!!
I normally don't write reviews on books. But this on is worth the exception. I first read this book back in the mid to late 80's., when I first started to become interested in caving. I found this book to be both informative as well as entertaining. I've done cave exploration in Minnesota Wisconsin Iowa and South Dakota. In 1988 I attended the annual convention of the National Speleological Society. It took place that Black Hills of South Dakota that year. I then had a chance to do some spelunking in Jewel Cave. This is by far on of the most exciting caves I have ever explored. While in the cave our group crossed paths with Dwight Deal. He caved with the Conn's during the time period written about in this book. He regaled us with some amusing stories about Jewel Cave.(Quite a interesting person.) As one of the evenings line up for the convention we had a presentation from Herb and Jan. They talk about there adventures in Jewel Cave. And pulled out there personal map from their exploration over the years. Then Jan gave a demonstration on filling and lighting a carbide lamp blindfolded. Herb and Jan are truly amazing. If your interested in caves, this is one you'll not want to put down. This one lives up to its name. It's quite an adventure.

One of the most exciting and readable books about spelunking
Herb and Jan Conn were amateur climbers in the 1930s who fell in love with the Black Hills of South Dakota. At a friend's suggestion, the Conns began moonlighting as spelunkers in winter. When they first visited Jewel Cave, it was a tiny cavern with an intriguing unexplored passage. Luckily for the Conns, that passage led to a mile of unexplored cave passages, then two miles... and exploring Jewel Cave became the Conns' life's work. They describe the exciting exploration (which is still ongoing, with more than 100 miles of passages mapped) with just the right balance of action/adventure, science, and humor. This book is a pioneer of the outdoor/geography genre and is readable, fun and fascinating.

-Review by David Bezanson

A fine caving book.
Almost fifty years ago, two rock climbers entered a 'nice little cave' to survey it. They had never gone caving before, and wanted to try it out. Because of their efforts, that cave, Jewel Cave, is today the second longest cave in the US. This book tells the tale in a fluent, easy style that is sure to delight and enjoy. Next to 'The Longest Cave' it is possibly the most enjoyable exploration story about caving around. you will be amazed at the amount of work a small group of people was able to do, from the sometimes tortuous mapping of the cave, to the hard backbreaking labor involved in making a portion of their discovery open for public viewing, as part of Jewel Cave Natl. Monument. A large map comes with the book so you can follow them as they explore the ever expanding labyrynth. The 'Jewel Cave Adventure' is a great book for everyone, whether you are seriously interested in the undergorund or just looking for a darn good read.

Taking the Mountain to the Marketplace
Jan Chozen Bays Roshi's new book Jizo Bodhisattva, Modern Healing & Traditional Buddhist Practice shows many sides to the complex character of this modern western Zen Teacher. This Book will also aquaint many western readers with Jizo Bohdisattva, the Japanese interpretation of Quan Yin (the chinese goddess of good fortune.) This book contains a wonderful blend of interesting scholarly work, heart opening personal experience and inspiration from some of the grittier aspects of zen practice. Far from being a remote monastic, Chozen Roshi has "taken the mountain to the market place," and as this book clearly demonstrates, all those who have been touched by her practice have benefited. From her compassionate listening to the victims of sexual abuse, to her one on one training interviews with her students, Chozen Roshi's inspiration truly makes her a living bodhisattva.
Cultivating the same qualities that mystics throughout the ages have taught, these stories of Jizo demonstrate the value of selflessness, compassionate action and fearlessness. Jizo Bodhisattva is the showing of the way, the support we need to do it ourselves, the compassionate voice in our heart and in the heart of all things. Truly mystics will recognize the immortal spirit of wisdom incarnate in Jizo Bodhisattva and scholars will welcome Chozen Roshi's addition to the field of Buddhist studies.

This is a wonderful book for our times
I could go on and on about this book, but what I really want to say is that this is a perfect book for our troubled times. I hope many people read it, learn from it, and practice with it.

A rich story well told.
Historically sound and especially relevant in these uncertain times, Chozen Bays' clear writing creates a wondrous collage of this sweet 'saint' of Buddism. Travellers in transition all, may we benefit from Jizo's healing protection. I highly recommend this book to anyone--Buddhist or not
