Pretty Good Info
I am writing a term paper on the Gulf War and even though you can have up to 5 sources this is basically the only book I need! It has everything I need to know! If you are doing research like myself, I suggest you check it out!

Insightful review of issues
The author has thoroughly examined all issues related to the Gulf Crisis and presents a thorough and informed documentation of events and outcomes.

The target audience of young adults and university students looking for a broad survey and exposition will appreciate the clarity of the text and comment.

life of a great lady
This lady could have been a great scientist as she was meticulous in observation and wanted to be a biologist. However she was a dutiful daughter and turned her talents first to writing and illustrating childrens stories and later to being an innovative and hardworking farmer and breeder of sheep. Her intense love of the beauty of the lake district and the old villages led into the conservation movement and she helped the birth of the National Trust in England.

Cut & Assemble Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis"
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (1992)
Author: Peter A. Zorn
Amazon base price: $6.95
Average review score:

Better than plastic!
Zorn's creation is fun to build, nice to look at, and fairly difficult to construct if you want to make it look good. The book contains 5 pages of pictures and info on the real plane and flight, and then it gets to the hard part. Mastering the skill of working with the paper is the first challenge. I learned that cutting with scissors is usually better than an X-acto knife when possible. Also, make sure to not use too much glue (I used Elmers) or it will warp the paper, and avoid getting gluey finger-prints on the outside. This is a great model of the Spirit of St. Louis but the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there are some steps that are not illustrated very well and some creativity is required. Step 30, where the rudder is glued into the rear fuselage is one such step. However, the plane still looks great and the problems "wouldn't be noticed on a galloping horse" (except by the builder.) Buy it! and enjoy.

The Decisive battles of WWII as told by the men in charge
This is frankly a quite good book. It features the stories of the generals themselves. Absolutely a great source for understanding the decisive battles. And the fact that both allied and axis commanders are represented is a clear bonus. Ie, Adolf Galland of the Luftwaffe tells the story the Battle of Britain as seen from the German side. Oh, and in that account lies a great little gem; how one single German Pilot involuntarely changed the battle by dropping bombs over London, not even knowing where he was. Excellent. I recommend this to to anyone with the slightest interest of WWII - it's also a good read to get an overview.

Dolphin's First Day: The Story of a Bottlenose Dolphin
Published in Hardcover by Soundprints (1994)
Authors: Peter Thomas, Steven J. Petruccio, and Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld
Amazon base price: $5.00

Nicely written, Kid-friendly Dolphin story
This is a story about a newborn Bottleneck dolphin's first day in the ocean. It is nicely written and illustrated but the kid friendly story line takes away slightly from the factual information. Even so, both my children (2 year-old and 4 year-old) and I really enjoy this book and others in this "Smithsonian Ocean Series" especially Manatee Winter.

Edgehill 1642
Published in Paperback by Windrush Press, Ltd. (1997)
Author: Peter Young
Amazon base price: $26.95
Used price: $15.00

A readable but dated account of the battle
Peter Youngs book was the first detailed account of the first major battle of the English Civil War.

Although a lot of new information has come to light the book is worth purchasing because of the deatailed lists of the officers in the various regiments that took part in the battle and the reproduction of a number of original tracts relating to Edgehill.

What I would expect from Peter Young
An Osprey book with a decent description of the war, the men, arms, etc and the obligatory color plates. Peter Young is one of England's easiest to read and enjoyable historians. He provides plenty of thumbnail bios on the major and minor players during the civil wars.

Excellent learning supplemntary
Key to Algebra books provide a wonderful proggresive course for students. Key to Algebra Book 3 Equations focuses on excersices. The first page of the book provides the history of the Equations. In the end of the book, provided is a Practice Test which reviews the lessons taught in the book. The book provides pages that will teach the process in solving the coming excersices. However, these pages are usually not enough to give a student who is beginning to learn algebraic equations a full understanding. The student may be obliged to ask somebody older to help them.

Not the scifi Mr. Wells is better known for
H. G. Wells is best known for "War of the Worlds" and "The Time Machine", 2 groundbreaking, classic science fiction titles. But "Kipps: The Story of a Simple Soul" is a heart-warming account of a young man suddenly thrown into a higher class and managing to eventually marry his childhood sweetheart and live out a dream.

I really enjoyed this book, and the main characters stayed with me, and the events became my own experiences. I can vividly remember sipping a cappucino when Kipps met Chitterlow. I remember the song playing on the radio when Kipps heard what Walshingham had done. And I remember the rain outside when it was clarified why the story had a narrator that was not involved in the story itself.

Yes, this is truly a 'feel-good' novel that will stay with me for a long time, and I recommend it to anyone who likes to just sit down and read, and meet likeable characters, without a lot of tech talk, gory action and confusing subplots. Don't pass this one up
