Jose Clemente Orozco: Mexican Artist
This historical book was an excellent source of information, not only about Jose Clemente Orozco, the artist, but about 20th century Mexico and it's history. The illustrations are good and done in black and white. I would recommend this book for students from the 7th grade up, as well as teachers and parents.

I really liked this book and I'm a hard person to please!
This book is very well written and descriptive. It tells about the struggles of Show Business in New York City. I'm a big fan of the theatre, so I couldn't put it down! It also tells about a lasting friendship through thick and thin. I recommend this book to teens who like reading about friedships and life in NYC!

Mrs. Ragon is expecting a somewhat strange looking baby .
Rhythmic text and amusing illustrations make this children's story a delight. It increases the young listener's interaction by being predictable and by repeating successive lines. The message is clear that a mother will love her child no matter what it's appearance. "Purple hair? I don't care! I'll love my little baby anyway." Buy this book to share with your 3-6 year old and find out why Mrs. Ragon's baby may have purple hair (and skin of green!)

I highly recomend this book!
The experience of having a parent die is horrid. Everyone knows that, but in this book you live through it with Gillian. Her mother was the light of her world until she found out that she had AIDS. The first reaction to the shock, trying every traditional medication she can get her hands on, brings the two on a frenzied search. Gillian's grandmother has always held the strength of the family, and she sends Gillian away to her dead father's relatives. The adjustment from a world in the city of West Indian women, to a "ghost white" family in Tennesee is not easy for Gillian, and as her mother becomes weaker each day, they aren't on good terms.

The heart-breaking parts of this novel express the pain of watching someone die of AIDS in a way that is rare in children's and young adult literature. The first person telling from a woman outside the family makes it easier to take in the events.
