You'll Think About This Long After Putting it Down!
Eighth-grader Grant is a loving child whose affection for his dignified grandfather would never be questioned. In fact, when his grandfather suffers a stroke and is sent to "The Other Wing" of the nursing home, Grant is the only one in the family who makes the time to visit him; his mother and father are both so wrapped up in their careers that they find neglecting both Grant and the grandfather too easy to do. This story becomes complicated from the very beginning when the reader realizes that the letter and recorded story Grant has received from his grandfather is actually a cleverly disguised request for assisted suicide. Throughout the remainder of the novel, we follow Grant's life through months of agony as he tries to make sense of the value of life and the inevitability of death. The secondary characters--Grant's parents, his best friend Avery, and even Randi--become part of the reader's inability to put down this book. You won't know for sure what Grant does until the end of the story, and you will be left questioning what you would do in the same situation.

WOW!
Stone Water is an excellent book dealing with real subjects in todays world. It deals with the hardships of life and death. In our fast paced world we need to stop and think about the quality of life, not the length of it. I loved the book, once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.

Will change your views on assisted suicide
A must read. This book changed the way I view assisted suicide. Through a young child's life we see how one's final wish can shape another's life. A real tear jerker. It empties your emotions and leaves you trapped in the world the book creates for hours, if not days after. As all good books should do.

As a huge fan of the Y&R from its inception, I was very entharalled and delighted with this book. It is a *MUST* read for any fan of this show. Not only does it take you down memory lane, but it refreshes the memory of many story lines.

I thought it was a great and informative book.
This book told of the trials and tribulations of the characters of the past. It helped new viewers to catch up on the events of the past, while taking life long watchers on a trip down memory lane. Great Job!!

Don't let this one get by you! You'll love it!
Alex "skinnybones" is back for more in this hilarious sequel to Skinnybones. Alex has won a contest and is going to star in a TV commercial. The anticipation of this event has Alex filled with ideas for his upcoming fame and celebrity. He fantasizes about signing autographs and his future in show business. However, as Alex finds out, it's not always a done deal! Alex is hilarious in this return of Barbara Park's story about "dreams" and reality. She really knows how to pack the laugh- out-loud moments in all her comedic offerings. I have never known a child not to almost "roll on the floor" with laughter. If your child reads this book, and you are listening, you will be granted a wonderful memory of your child's delight in books!

For all kids
I first read Skinnybones, the first book, a number of years ago in fifth grade. It was the first book to really excite me about reading. I jumped at the opportunity to read this sequel. It delivered. Park has a way of writing that is right on the same wavelength as the kid reading. Her characters are real, fun, something that anyone can identify with. She is also zany and just tons of fun. It's a laugh out loud. This is the perfect book for a child who usually prefers TV to reading.

This book rocks!
I read this book before my first job and I did excelent. I would really recomend it for young teen and parents who are nervouse about babysitting. ...parents feel good about having me as their sitter knowing I have had experience. I also feel prepared when I head in to a job.

The Best Book for First-Time Babysitters!
This book was wonderful! It had everything you could ever want to know plus so much more. It told you how to make simple snacks, questions to ask the parents before they leave, how to give baths, want to do in any accident, when to call the parents, and what to do if there is a prowler.

The Perfect Tomboy Tale
I read this book back in 5th grade, too and really loved it...Claudia and I were in the same boat back then! Now that I teach, I read it each year to my 4th graders. It's an nice little history lesson on the old gender and peer roles parents used to assign to us and all my kids can relate to the despair of being picked on, or having your friends change and mature around you before you're ready to.

CLAUDIA
I first read this book as a fifth grader back in the 1970's. It helped me then to understand that other kids had problems, just like I did, and that we could find viable solutions to our problems without relying on others.

Claudia would be good for fourth-seventh graders to read independently, or for a read-aloud to second and third graders. Many life skills are addressed along with applying them through family and friends.

Written from the Rapline office
... The story is very right on about obsessed callers and the fear you sometimes hold; however, our volunteer screening prosess tends to keep out the psychos (at least we think). Although this book is fiction (I checked our records just to be sure), it is still a very intriguing read for anyone who likes a good thriller, and especially for those of us who still answer the phones here at Rapline.

cool
I couldn't put this down. A girl works on a heelp line called rapline. When one day she starts getting phone calls. They start off nice then they get threatening. A jealous man is on the other line and he is a killer. He's killing girls and shes scared she may be next. Reviewed By Vikki Car

This book was full of wonderful pictures and information
I have used this book every year as a third grade teacher. It is wonderful as a read aloud for science to illustrate how animals and plants adapt to their environment and rely on other plants and animals for survival. This is one of the best books I have ever read to my class because it is not dull science jargon but presented as the story of the life of the cactus. Don't miss this one for teaching and learning about life science in the desert.

Our third grade class loved your book.
Our third grade loved your book. It gave us a lot of information about the desert. The illustrations were excellent. We especilly liked the use of author techniques such as diagrams, onomatopeias, catchy title and colorful illustrations. We would love to contact Barbara Bash.

Emotional Healing Through Mindfulness Meditation
First, despite what the editors put on the front cover, this book is NOT just for women. Anyone with emotional problems -- woman, man, or whatever -- can help her/himself with this book. The individual stories are both intriguing and powerful, and the cd makes meditation easy. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to achieve greater equanimity and decrease the stress in his/her life. And it's fun to read, too.

Sensitive and thoughtful
In Emotional Healing, Barbara draws a sensitive and thoughtful portait of some women in crisis. She has added the skill of using meditation to her already quite accomplished therapy skills. I was particularly struck how, in the midst of chaos, the simplicity of breathing, calming and getting in touch with oneself can be a tremendous help to the confused aspects of a person's life. It appears to shift the focus so that the puzzle takes on a different look. Barbara is respecful and loving of her subjects. The book is lovely for any psychotherapist to read, or for that matter, anyone.

Ernst & Young's Personal Financial Planning Guide - 3rd Edit
As a tax professional and tax educator, I recognized many years ago that tax & financial illiteracy is a major problem amongst taxpayers. For example, consider: 1. how many wage-earners do not even understand all the deductions posted on their pay statements -- or that net pay is not the same as taxable income; or 2. how many people do not understand that the basic tax equation is "tax liability = tax base x tax rate" -- and that tax rate alone is not enough information to calculate one's tax liability; or 3. how many people think capital gains taxes paid are a "bad thing" -- when in fact, they are frequently a "subsidy" provided to wealthier taxpayers at the expense of wage-earners; or 4. how many people are eligible for some form of deferred compensation [401(k)plan, 403(b) plan etc] but they either do not participate or do not participate fully; etc, etc, etc.

In an effort to promote "Basic Tax Literacy," I highly recommend the EY-PFP Guide as a highly accessible & understandable guide for teens and above. This book makes a wonderful gift for all life events -- coming of age ceremonies, graduations, marriage, birth of child, divorce, mid-life crisis, pre-retirement, retirement. It could even serve as a textbook for certain courses and seminars.

E&Y Personal Financial Planning Guide(3rd ed.)- a good tool
This 3rd edition is a useful tool for people who are either starting to understand personal financial planning or those who have years of practical experience but want the latest information available. Complex concepts are explained clearly and concisely. There are no major gaps in the information provided. The book is well organized. Part II which uses a life-event approach to financial planning will be most helpful for people beginning to understand personal financial planning or facing a major life-event.

I enjoyed reading the book and found it filled with exactly the information I was seeking to improve my own personal financial planning. The format was very understandable and will allow me to continue using the book as a reference.

home Child
i loved it, it taught me things i never knew before, it's a great read for people who want to know more about the past

I learned a lot reading this book!
In the book, Home Child, I liked it when Arthur was finally accepted by Sadie's family. I felt sorry for Arthur because he had been sent to a strange home where he didn't feel loved. This book informed me about home children, something I had never known about.
