The best from Stephen Turnbull...
This is an omnibus edition of 'Samurai Warriors' and 'Samurai Warlords', giving you over 300 pages of colour illustrations, black and white photos and some of the most detailed information about the Samurai. The first part of the book deals with the warriors, from the early warriors from the Heian Period to the end with the last true samurai, Saigo Takamori, who in 1877 raised a rebellion against the new order and failed. The books deals with armour and weapons, equipment, tactics and training.
The second part of the book deals with the Daimyo, the warlords of Japan, starting with the first Samurai Warlord, the 60 year old Hojo Soun in 1491, and goes into detail about their culture, training, family life, women's roles and even how they dealt with death.

A marvellous study of the major religions!
This book gives a logical and neutral assesment of all the fundamental and popular beliefs and philosophies of the major religions of the world. It is a must read for those who attempt to establish or advocate relativity in world religions, or simply those who wish to learn more about the plurality of the religious world! it seems there is nothing they didn't try!
This is another great book from Dr. Stephen Turnbull a two part serie on the amazing Siege Weapons of the Far East that they really should change the name to Siege Weapons from China and the Far east thats because of the mayority of the weapons are from china. This is the first time a see a book about the Siege Warfare use by China,Japan and the Mongols, illustrated with spectacular artwork. The Illustration are from Wayne Reynolds which make a great work trying to reconstruct a manual trebuchet use by the chinese.

Exploding cows, wheeled rocket launchers, elephant-mounted crossbows are some of the rare weapons use in Asia, I can tell you that you would not be disappointed because of the great detail of these weapons, to tell you the true is sometime hard to believe that this type of weapons were ever use but the work of Mr Turnbull is very high technical quality.
One of the best and original works publish to this date. Also form the same author Ashigaru 1467-1649(Warrior 29)and Samurai Warfare are another great title to buy.

A gem of little-known WWII history
Stephen Hutton takes us on his own journey of discovery into his father's WWII experiences aboard a B-24 LIberator out of England. Intrigued by one particular war story his dad told him about another taking his B-24 and never returning, Mr. Hutton begins a life-long quest to uncover the role his father's squadron played in air war over Europe. Mr. Hutton has amassed a great deal of information, including documents only declassified in the 1970's, along with personal accounts from the men who flew these secret missions.

The book is packed with detailed information you won't find elsewhere, along with wonderful photographs. This is a must-read for anyone with an interest in the Pathfinder missions and the air campaign to liberate Europe. I highly recommend it.

Utterly Magnificent and Terrific Masterpieces of Fiction
Stephen King just may be America's greatest writer of the later half of the 20th century. This book proves my hypothisis to the fullest! What a terrific idea, too! Take King's best and most acclaimed works and put them together. All the works are fantastic; terrifying, heart-wrenching, sorrowful, gleeful, and everything else. You must read this novel. It looks like I'm the lone commentator, however.

worth reading again
13 short stories including "the curfew tolls"concerning what happens when a genius is born a few years too early ortoo late - in this case, a retired French Major of Artillery by the name of Napoleon Bonaparte who claims to have military "dreams that would split the head of a Caesar" and no chance of proving it. "the king of the cats" - was this an old tale or one simply brilliantly recounted by benet? "the devil and daniel webster" was the benet that i read in school but i don't remember when or why. it still is fascinating. every tale is like a jewel.

Two classic tales by the socially critical master
These two tales are a MUST for anyone who loves Wells's work. Its far-sightedness, its intuitive feel for "things to come," the sparkling lucidity of his prose, his dry wit...not to be missed. And if anything, both tales, dealing as they do with future alternatives we wouldn't wish on ourselves, remain dangerously relevant as warnings of what will happen if we don't manage the present with greater thoughtfulness and foresightedness.
