An enjoyable read with an important message
Dr. Kraus knows how to keep his readers turning the pages with an intriguing plot and interesting characters. But more than a spellbinding read, The Chairman delivers an important message: each person's value is based on the fact that God loves us, not what we are able to do or not do. Two very different types of "chairmen" learned this invaluable lesson as the events unfold in this medical mystery, bringing the two together for an unexpected ending.

First Rate Medical Thriller
A wonderful premise! Not usually a fan of the medical thriller genre, I have to admit, The Chairman kept me turning pages! Kraus has a way of defining the medical parameters of the premise and developing that plot-line in a way that's descriptive but never dry. He doesn't try to WOW you with an overabundance of medical jargon, instead, chooses to bow to the flow of good story-telling. The diagnosis is clear...The Chairman is a winner! --Lisa Samson, author of The Church Ladies.

interesting and captivating
This was a gift and as a retired physician I found the book to be medically interesting as well as morally satisfying

Useful book and very practical!
Having lived on St. John for 20 years, it was fun to learn new information about this special island from Explore the Virgin Islands. Mr Pariser has hiked the trails and met the people. His book is the most personalized and comprehensive guide I have read. It is a must for anyone visiting S. John. Pariser's most complete guide is unique and fits easily into your beach bag or backpack. If you're planning on visiting the USVI , and St. John in particular, be sure to take this guide along!

excellent resource for ALL the Virgin Islands!
Having been to the British Virgin Islands and getting ready to go to the American Virgin Islands, I was quite impressed with the depth and scope of Mr. Pariser's fine guidebook. I can recommend it to any pre-Virgin or post-Virgin traveler alike!

Highly recommended
(Planeta.com Journal) - This new guidebook covers all the angles for visitors to the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix). Harry Pariser is one of our favorite authors and has also written about Costa Rica and Barbados. The travel essentials are well documented. Harry points out destinations for the nature tourist such as the St. Croix Aquarium and provides a guide to local plants and animals. Excellent!

The best investing book I've come across
I'm normally not one to take the time to write reviews (this is my first), so that in itself indicates the high regard I have for this book. It is without question the most informative, practical, and enjoyable book about investing and stock valuation that I've come across.

I recommend it without any reservations whatsoever.

R.E.Sears, Orinda, CA
Here is a book that will appeal to any and all investors, professional or novice. Harry Domash has provided us with investment tool that is easy to read and in a concise and well orgainized manner. The chapters on Screening and Analysis are worth the price of the book. I will use it over and over as a very excellent reference book. I have already found several of the websites rcommended to be most helpful in providing the information I needed to make changes in my portfolio.

A thorough, organized method of stock analysis
In clear prose, Harry Domash lays out a concise step-by-step guide to evaluating and analyzing growth and value stocks. I had no intentions of buying a book when I entered the store, but after looking over this book I was compelled to buy it. Yes! Another one who gladly paid retail. In only a week's time the pages are dog-eared and highlighted.

Mr. Domash covers in depth each of the tools you need to find and evaluate good stocks. Not only does he cover the topics you'd expect a book like this to cover--profit margins, ROE and ROA, and inventory and A/R analysis--but he also gives you tools to look at the quality of a company's management, whether it has a solid business plan and whether it's a candidate for bankruptcy, but also some technical analysis tools too.

He doesn't stop there though. "Fire Your Stock Analyst!" also gives you a complete tutorial on how you would go about using all the tools he provides to analyze growth stocks and value stocks. Moreover, he shows you exactly where to find all the information you need. And gives you a useful, rational method for valuing the stock, i.e., determining a price to buy at and fixing a target price. This is as complete a process as you could hope to find.

Again, the book is well worth the price at retail--and a steal at the discount being offered here!

Interesting Alternative
This book is just so neat! It can be used as a toy or decoration! The book opens to form a circle with a lot of the Hogwarts rooms featured in GREAT DETAIL. It's an interesting alternative to reading all about Harry Potter and Hogwarts School, you can actually see another visual representation of what J.K. Rowling invented. It would make a great/unique present for the Harry Potter fan in your life.

Harry Potter und der Steinder Weisen
Alles, das ich über das Buch sagen kann, ist, daß ich es liebte, und ich glaube, daß es sehr wert Leseversuch es ist.

Wunderbar
Chances are if your thinking on buying this book in German, you've probably already read the Englsih version, so I won't bog you down with any lengthy opinion on the story itself except to say it is a modern classic, full of mystery and suspense that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

Foreign language versions of English novels are notoriously difficult to translate, largely due to the high number of English words which have no exact translation in say, German or French. But on the whole, this was an exceptionally translated peice, with no major blunders sticking out (the Spanish version is full of them) The most obvious chnage is of "Hermione" to "Hermine" Perhaps Hermione would feel strange to pronounce to a native German speaker, not sure on that one.

A lot of people will tell you Spanish and French are far easier to learn than German. I found German more fun to learn, most people who say it is a difficult, technical language do not know that English and German belong in the same group of languages (Germanic) French, Spanish and Italian are in a completely different group (Romantic) So to brush up on language skills, or just to have fun reading a novel in another language, HP is probably the most fun and easy to understand novel on the market.

An excellent translation
This translation of Harry Potter pulled even this native speaker of English along almost as well as the original book, and I would recommend it for anyone who's had a couple of years of German as a skill and vocabulary builder. If you're struggling with Goethe or Thomas Mann, you need something that will show you that German can be fun to read, and this book will do the trick nicely. I suppose once could carp at a few things here and there, but this translation is so superior to the French translation that I wouldn't waste my time doing that, except to mention that Hermione's name has for some reason been changed to Hermine. If you get stuck, at least the trot's readily available!

A wonderful book that should be a movie!
This book offers a refreshing look at the validity of the English monarchy through a fun, romantic story. The romance of Emmalissa and Will is a delightful undercurrent as Will tries to establish himself as the rightful heir of the throne. Their romance soon takes center stage, as often happens, in his quest for truth. If, in fact, there is any validity to this tale, it puts to question the premise on which the monarchy is founded -- lineage. At a time when the monarchy has become less popular, it would be interesting to know what the royals have to say about Harry's Son. This delightful, light story would make an interesting movie. A movie clothed in romance and intrigue that could question the roots of a nation's monarchy.

Entertaining, gripping and exciting
The book keeps you spellbound and not wanting to stop reading until finished. Provides enough historical facts to almost make it seem non-fiction. A very well-written and fascinating look into the English Royal Family. Very good.

A well written, easy to read, fascinating story
I truly enjoyed reading "Harry's Son"! The author does an exceptional job of weaving historical facts and fiction to create, quite seamlessly, a really good novel. I liked the short, fast-paced chapter format, the political ideas expressed, and the very appropriate tie-in with today's monarchy. I highly recommend it!

A Fine,Fine School.
If you want a good book to read I've got one for you. It's A Fine,Fine School. It's about a girl who has to go to school for the whole year! Even her dog has to go to school. She didn't even get to play with her little brother. They even had to brush their teeth at school. They didn't even get a summer vacation.I liked this book because even the dog had to go to school. It's by Sharon Creech.I made a 100 on this book.I hope you zoom right through this book and make a 100 too.

One of my favorite books
I liked this book because of two reasons. It teaches you that it's good to go to school and learn things, but there are some things that you can only learn at home. I also like this book because the pictures are very funny especially of the dog. The principal's name is Mr. Keene. He said that they should go to school first on Saturdays, then Sundays, then holidays and then summer - every single day. On the first day of summer, Tillie set off to school. She went into Mr. Keenes's office and told him that not everyone was learning. Mr. Keene was disappointed. What Tillie said convinced Mr. Keene that children should stay home more. On the second day of summer, Mr. Keene called another meeting. He said that we are all learning things in this fine, fine school, but not everyone is learning. There are some dogs that need to learn how to sit and jump over creeks and fetch sticks. There are also younger brothers and sisters who need to learn to skip and swing. He said that from this day on they would not have school on Saturdays and Sundays and Holidays and summer. So the fine, fine children and fine, fine teachers screamed so loud it floated out the windows so everyone in the town could hear it. Guess what they said? Fine, Fine, Fine!
This is also a good book for children with glasses because the the main character, Tillie, and several other students have glasses.

True Meaning of Learning
This book was recently read to me at a teachers' conference. The real message in the story is that learning doesn't only happen in school--it happens everywhere! What a wake up call to parents and guardians!

Grapes of Math
This book is a collection of 16 illustrated poems. In the back are the complete solutions. Most of the riddles deal with the repeated addition style of multiplication, but with a twist. In an array of five rows and five columns, there may be three missing. So, in order to find the total of 22 quickly, the student is guided to multiply five times five and then subtract the three missing ones.

The rhymes are catchy with the question in a different color font to help students when learning to decipher word problems. There is also a tip to the mental math solution following the question. The goal of this book is assisting students in learning to manipulate groups of objects in their mind.

I would suggest using a few poems as examples with real manipulatives and demonstrating to students how and why the solution can be found mentally. Read the solution along with them and physically move objects to show how they can multiply and then add or subtract, or even regroup objects. When students begin to catch on, invite them to try some more from the book, and write out the solutions before checking their answers. Advanced students may even want to create their own puzzles and illustrations. As an extra challenge, they can write the poems to go along with it. All of Tang's poems are written in couplets and this has the potential for being a good integration with language arts.

Why 5 stars?:
Tang has crafted a wonderful set of thinking exercises for students to explore mathematical properties through the use of patterns. By practicing with these poems, hopefully they will change the way in which they "see" difficult problems and be able to visualize in a way that makes sense to them.

the grapes of math
The grapes of math is a challenging book full of problem solveing. It was great to read and after i read it once i read it again and again,i liked the fish problem the best.

good luck reading it!

Many ways for teachers to implement this great book!
The Grapes of Math targets elementary students around the ages of 8-12, yet can be used in a simpler way with even younger children as an introduction to counting. There are sixteen colorful counting problems in the book, which are accompanied by a poem that provides a hint at counting the objects using a different method. Children are instructed not to count individual objects in the regular manner - "1...2...3..." - but rather to open their minds to new ways of perceiving the problems. Readers are encouraged to use creative methods, such as finding patterns, grouping, and using advanced problem-solving skills. These strategies direct students to solve a problem faster and more efficiently, and greatly incorporate the use of addition, subtraction and multiplication.

A teacher could use The Grapes of Math in many ways. One could post a problem each day, or week, on the board for children to solve at the beginning of a math lesson, to get students thinking mathematically, and on a higher level. Instructors could also break a class into pairs or small groups and photocopy the sixteen different problems, passing out a different problem to each pair/group. The children could have an allotted amount of time in which to come up with creative ways to count the objects on the page. After the pair/group has found several ways, they could vote on the most efficient method. Then the students could take turns sharing their solutions with the class. Furthermore, a teacher could share the book with his/her class, taking suggestions for the various problems and solving as a whole-class group. As a follow-up activity, children could design their own "counting problems," making colorful pictures with accompanying poetry to give their readers hints - such as the layout of The Grapes of Math. Then the children could trade with a partner and solve their partners' work.

I would highly recommend The Grapes of Math to future teachers. There are so many ways to implement this book, and it helps children who are learning multiplication a great deal. I enjoy the pictures, the poems, the creative solutions, and the challenges! I whole-heartedly rate this 5 STARS!
