Great Read
I actually bought this book from the Dan Bylsma WEB site. THe book was sent autographed to my son for this past Christmas. Most of the content is directed toward kids interested in playing hockey and who have questions from how do I do a certain drill to what if my parents are embarrasing me. My 8 year old enjoyed the book very much and continues to read it again and again. I still pick it up as well. If you haven't read the first book "So Your Son Want's to Play in the NHL", another great read.

Hockey With A Purpose
After receiving the book, I read it throughout the day as opportunity presented itself. I hated to put it down when I had other stuff to do. I felt like I was being forced to leave the game before it was over. I was enchanted by the book as if I'd never read it before, thrilled to play a role by helping with it and to be mentioned in this wonderful contribution to amateur hockey. As I read it, I thought about my roles as a father of a young player, as a coach, and as a coaching educator for USA Hockey. Two overwhelming thoughts came to mind as I read the printed version of the book. The truth conveyed by the material and the fact that at times I fall short of the goals conveyed by that truth from a child's perspective. Even though I speak or write about and teach many of these things quite often, I found myself addressing my mistakes in each of my roles as I read the book. But, even as I found myself addressing my mistakes, I was simultaneously using the ideas in the book to reaffirm many of my beliefs or to assimilate these ideas to address issues from a different perspective. And as stated in the book, perseverance is a key to success. Taking responsibility is a key to success. Learning from mistakes or failure is what truly makes you better. "So You Want To Play In The NHL" has given me additional impetus in my goal to constantly strive to improve as a father, a coach and a coaching educator. Thank you for taking the time to inspire even us older hockey guys with a book written for kids, because really, we are all still kids at heart! By addressing the issues from a kid's perspective for kids, I believe you have succeeded in reaching adults as well. The heart of this old kid is much better as a result of the time and effort you have taken to share your thoughts with the hockey world. This new book, "So You Want To Play In The NHL", for kids, and the existing book for adults, "So Your Son Wants To Play In The NHL", set the standards by which all of us in the sporting world should continually strive to achieve. Cordially, Terry Vayda USA Hockey Associate Coach-In-Chief (Southeast District--Florida)

required reading
As a coach and someone who knows the personal dedication it takes to achieve life's goals, this book confirms everything I have done in my life and teach to the players on my team. This book is more than a book about hockey. It spells out a recipe for success in life, in and out of hockey(or any team sport for that matter). Every page has something that will inspire you and remind you what is important in life. I am making this book required reading for my team because it confirms everything I have ever said in the locker room and to parents. While this is one man's journey through life to the NHL, the story is one shared by most people in the struggle to define who they are as the grow up and to achieve the goals that they want.

World War II Wrecks of the Truk Lagoon

The ultimate Truk Lagoon history book
If you are a history buff or a scuba diver or if you know anyone who is, this is the book to get. Not only does this book go over the history of Truk (Chuuk as it is now known) Lagoon but also the history of all the wrecks contained there from WWII. It also details the attack that the US Navy completed in February of 1944. From the force of ships that participated in the attack to the ships that were sunk.
It has in complete detail of all ships that sunk, what they were carrying, size, etc.

I have been to Truk Lagoon once, bought this book when I came back, and now going back again now that I know more of the history of the ships and planes that I will be diving on again. This book also makes for a great coffee table book that many friends and family will enjoy looking through.!
It is well put together and worth the money for it.

By far the best book on Truk
I would recommend this book to all divers and war history buffs interested in the wrecks of Truk. Especially for divers who are planning a trip to Truk. This is the perfect dive planning text for learning about the wrecks before the dives so divers can maximize their bottom time experience. Each wreck has its own chapter with maps and a guide to the highlights of the wreck. There are also photos of the wrecks before they sank and a history of each ship. After a trip to Truk, it is the perfect souvenir -- better than any details in log books! Lots of GREAT underwater wreck photography in color, too.

An unbelievably complete work
I received a copy of World War II Wrecks of the Truk Lagoon by Dan Bailey a few days ago. I can not get over the detail with which this book covers this subject. In addition to being a diver's reference book (and a large one at that...an 8 by 11 inch+ hardcover), it is also a highly detailed historical reference. Included are US Navy reconaissance photos, pilot reports from the pilots who were flying missions in Operation Hailstorm attacking these ships, layout drawings of the Japanese installations on the islands, not to mention the history of the sunken ships. This book contains virtually everything I can imagine regarding Truk (and stuff I never thought of). Lots of archival photos and present day photos. This book is a must for any Truk afficionato. A great addition to my library.

I wasn't around in 1918
But in 1918, the Sox won. They really, really won. This well researched book makes me fell like I was there, 83 years ago, following the REd Sox daily, the same way I do now. Difference is, they win it and this is not good fiction, it is great non-fiction. What Ken Burns did for baseball history, Ty Waterman does for the 1918 Red Sox.

Another interesting thing about this book is the news clips which is how you, as a reader, follow along with the season. The interesting part is not just the information from long ago, but how a ball club is written about back in 1918, and how it differs today. Sure the players had "issues" back then, but now days we can get bogged down on the importance of player's personal problems and the effect that has on the team. Looking foward to digesting the next Ty Waterman fact filled book.

superb
No team in professional sports offers a full scale opera with each game more than my beloved Boston Red Sox. All Red Sox and baseball fans know the trials, tribulations, and horror that surrounds this team, and with it Boston, and all of New England. Buckner in '86, Torrez in '78, Bill Lee's junk pitch to Tony Perez in game 7 of '75, the collapse in 72, the could have been of '67, the should have been of '48, Enos Slaughter in '45...the Red Sox have sustained their share of horrific luck since Harry Frazee dealt the Babe to New York in 1919...

Few fans remember, or realize, that the Red Sox dominated baseball for the first 20 years of the past century. They had great pitchers from Cy Young to "Smoky" Joe Wood, to the Babe, and hall of famers Harry Hooper, Tris Speaker, Young, the Babe... yes, the Sox had it all, and it all culminated in 1918, the last time the Babe-led Sox won the World Series.

Waterman's book is a delightful piece of Americana, complete with old tyme sketches, photos, box scores, standings, and everything else that made 1918 what it was- a simpler time in baseball. The stories, from the trade of Speaker to the Indians to the many showcasing the Babe's probelms but undeniable charisma and popularity, to that of Harry Hooper's fight against MLB that lasted all of his life, are fascinating and riviting. The newspaper writers were more than that in those days- they became part of the saga, as well.

This book is a remarkable historical document that fans of baseball, no less those of the Red Sox, will appreciate. Many of the day's brightest stars are mentioned, and it hearkens back to a day when to play baseball was a privledge, not a job. ..and while the 1918 Red Sox were a dysfunctional lot, they played the game hard, and loved what they did. The book, cartoons, and stories from the writers clearly show this. Baseball today can learn more than a thing or 2 from the 1918 Red Sox and baseball of that era. A delightful and informative read.

The Pain of Being a Red Sox Fan
Nothing but the pain and despair of being a true Bosox fan could ever prepare an author like it must have for Mr. Waterman. The book was a bright read about a very different game in a very different America. As much a chronicle of the era as baseball and the Red Sox themselves. A first class study of the despair of every Red Six fan!

I beleieve the Braves won the 1960 CDE Title!

Great book, my son loved it!
My son, Christopher, is 7 years old, and is just facinated by space, and loves the movie "Apollo 13". I bought this book, and he just loved it. I couldn't be happier with it. He really enjoyed the pictures, and I could tell he was making sure that it was as accurate as the movie that he watches over and over. It's nice to see a book that excites a child like this one did.

A big hit!
We found this book at the library last night and it was such an instant hit I'm buying it today. The pictures and big and bold and whimsical and the rhyming is very nice. My 2-year-old daughter doesn't even know what a rocket is yet but she asked me to read this book first thing this morning.

What do they do on the honeymoon?
The subject of this book is certainly a big improvement over what teenagers usually want to do in the love department these days. Highly recommended for all parents of hormonally normal teenagers.

Wonderful book
This is a tremendous book and the authors have taken just 69 pages to do what I couldn't do in 14 years of bellowing.

Concise but Deep Thoughts, Real Promises for Real Change!
Dan and Dave have hit it solid with this book. Many youth have responded positively to the 8 promises found within the book and are serious about being committed to keeping them. You want relevance? You and your teens need this book.

Too bad it's out of print!
I'm a music student, and one of the courses we must take to complete our studies is conducting. This book is a great way to learn the basics, so anyone, and I mean anyone, can lead a symphony orchestra, on TV or on audio recording, in the privacy and comfort of their own home. But be warned: you'll want to conduct the minute you get to a real live concert! It's an absolute shame this book is out of print!

Because of this book, I actually conducted a live symphony!
This book will not teach you to read music or follow a musical score, but it WILL teach you to hold a baton. It will also show you in detail how to conduct the various tempi (plural for tempo). It will educate you about the various conductors and their styles. I won an opportunity to conducted a live symphony. This book gave me the confidence I needed to actually do it! Good Luck! Have Fun!

You'll Love this Book!
If you have ever conducted to the music playing in your CD player, or you went to a concert and dreamed of being the one up on the podium, then this book is for you. It's humorous and very instructional. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys conducting as much as I do.

The ultimate gift
When other people have said it better than you allready, all you can do is refer to them :) This book is quite simply a greate buy, And will make a wonderfull gift. Full of Jim`s great art, and some history around the work & creation of some of them. Sure to apply to most people you show it to.

Where is Book 2?
This book covers the life and times of Jim Warren from his early development through his successful transition to full-time painter of the absurd, surreal or stunningly accurate portraits. To say he is unique is, of course, a gross understatement. The only thing I would have done to improve the book would be to put SECRET SPOT on the cover!

Great surrealist artbook.
This is a great book. It shows in depth how he likes to do his paintings. I love the way he transforms life with the elements, such as horses turning into water and the many other fantastic things you notice on each painting. There's no one else like him, nor will there be. He's a very unique and highly creative artist. I love the book!!!

A great insight into grief
Jehu Burton's book Trusting God Through Tears is an open and honest portrayal of grief from a man's point of view. I have observed that those who have a strong faith may often struggle severely because the death of a child seems contrary to placing our trust in a "loving" God. Jehu addresses our doubts very openly and provides answers he has obtained after great struggles. I believe most bereaved parents will find empathy and understanding in this book. I did, and I am a three-times bereaved parent. Marilyn Heavilin, author of Roses in December.

Growing through your grief -
This is a book that reaches out and holds your hand while you are suffering through the loss of a child. My wife and I have experienced this pain, when our seven-year-old daughter died in May 2000. No other book related so closely to what we were experiencing as grieving parents. Jehu Burton's book was truly revelant to us during our grieving process. Jehu showed us that we were not alone and the feelings that we had through grieving were normal. In his book, he forces you to answer some very difficult questions that only another grieving parent could ask. Answering these difficult questions forced us to grow and accept what we couldn't comprehend. We highly recommend this book for parents facing the ultimate tragedy, the loss of a child.

The End and Object of Grief
I read this book shortly after losing my son -- my only child -- at the age of thirteen. The book was IMMEDIATELY helpful, and I reread it several times. In fact, had I been limited to just one book besides the Bible, this book would have been my choice. It deals honestly and realistically with the pain of grief without being overindulgent. Solidly biblical, it points to Christ as the only source of true and lasting comfort. For there is an end to grief: an object, a direction. And grief will have had its greatest end when it ends in Christ. Therefore, I gratefully acknowledge the author for having helped me to survive the most difficult challenge of my life by pointing me to the only source of true and lasting comfort, Jesus Christ.

Air war in the Chaco
In 1932, Bolivia and Paraguay went to war over a large, flat, sparsely watered plateau called the Gran Chaco. Over the course of three years, the two armies, exhibiting constant bravery and periodic stupidity, dueled, generating at least 90,000 deaths. In this book, Dan Hagedorn and Antonio Sapienza look at the war from the angle of the use of airpower during the war. The individual types of aircraft used by the combatants are reviewed, as are their operational uses.

This book makes an excellent companion for The Chaco War by Bruce Farcau. The author of that book almost completely ignores the air war component of the war, while this book focuses on it. Also, unlike the other book, this one is awash with maps and pictures from the war. Therefore, if you are interested in the Chaco War, then you should read this book.

THE BEST EVER PUBLISHED BOOK ON THE CHACO WAR AVIATION
IF YOU WANT TO LEARN ABOUT THIS NOT SO WELL KNOWN MODERN CONFLICT BETWEEN TWO ESTABLISHED NATIONS, BOTH WITH AIR FORCES AT THAT TIME, THIS IS THE BOOK TO READ. BESIDES THE SPECTACULAR TEXT, THE PICTURES ARE GREAT!!!!!!

The golden age of the aviation by Antonio Sapienza
These must be the best ever released book related to aeronautics. It has much relevant information about, as it's title stands, the aircraft of the Chaco war. I, as the author, live in the peaceful country, which is the place where the war was hold in those years, and I can assure that this title has the most complete information about the past golden age of the Paraguayan air force. Just one more should be added, congratulations Mr. Tony, you've done a great job. Victor Amarilla/ Paul McCartney

Wha?
Lot's of good recommedations, but not focused enough. Maybe it's because .NET security is still a hodege-pod of techniques that has no roadmap to follow. Geez...I still don't know what technique(s) to use for a particular situation. I can figure it out, but if I have to do that, what's the sense of buying the book?

Good, no-nonsense stuff
I'm enjoying this book. The authors break things down thoroughly, providing numerous approaches to a particular task, for example, authentication. They provide concepts first and then apply it using differnt methods, for example, authenticating a user from credentials stored in XML file, SQL db, etc.

Nothing seems to be skipped in this book regarding the topics they cover. It leaves little if nothing to be desired.

Well done Wrox!

essential
I m surprised at the book not being reviewed enough. It s an absolute essential, very well written and real-world wise. I think most people go for language books, ignoring such importand matters as security. How are they planning to deploy their web apps, I wonder.

One of the first things to learn from the book is that security is not only an administrator's task but half the job needs to be done by the developer. And that 's where this book comes in. I feel much more confident after reading it, all my question are answered.

A bravo! to WROX for doing it again.
