Ready to tackle the CCNA!
I just finished reading this book cover to cover and feel very confident about moving on to the next stage of my CCNA preparation, practice tests and simulation! I've been using the CCExam software from CCStudy.com as well as a few other practice tests and am amazed how easy a lot of the questions were after reading this book. Just an indication of how comprehensive this book is.

More important, in my opinion, is the book's "readability"! I'm sure there are numerous books that cover the exact same information as this book yet might not be written in a manner that is clear and simple to understand, especially for Cisco newbies like myself. This book is just a lot of fun to read.

Finally, I really enjoyed the "real world" tone of this title. It isn't written for someone who's bound for the testing center, but rather for someone who needs to apply the knowledge at work in the field. I'm certain that I'll constantly be using this book as a reference even after passing the exam. Very cool.

All in all, I'd like to recommend ICND to the Cisco neophyte who's looking for that great "First Book" to start off his or her Cisco library. I'm really glad I got this book and I'm sure you will be too.

Good luck on your CCNA!

Excellent Book........
I read ICND by Cisco Press before. I found this book used on Amazon and bought it just because it was cheap. Now I can not put it down. This book is far better than Cisco Press' ICND. It has about 100 more pages than Cisco's. To me it is worth every minute spent to read this book.
I passed CCNA in December. So, I don't have the exam pressure. I am reading this just for fun and enjoying it.
I strongly recommend it over Cisco's ICND if you intent to take CCNA test.

MUST have for CCNA2.0!
I pass ccna2.0 with 935/1000 today. All I have is this book and Boson exams. I've read my friend's Todd Lammle book. I think this book is much better than Todd's. Todd's is written for passing the exam. For the ICND book, you actally learn the CCNA stuff in depth. I strongely recommend this book for everyone who want to pass the CCNA2.0 with FULLY understanding.

Karate - The Isshinryu Way: My Philosophy on the Martial Arts and Life
Published in Paperback by National Paperback Books, Incorporated (20 October, 2002)
Author: Dan W. Jones
Amazon base price: $15.95
Average review score:

A book for all styles
As a Shotokan practitioner I was reluctant to buy this book until a friend and fellow instructor recommended it. Now I can say its one of the best books I've read. No matter what your style you will find this book inspirational. The longer you have been in the arts the more you will get out of it. Master Jones shares stories of how karate affected his life from the time he was a young boy, to what techniques worked for him as a police officer, to instructional techniques. He has a rare point of view that is backed by experience and common sense. I hope there is a sequel!

Easy Reading, Deep in Meaning
A refreshing new prospective to the study, personal development and life journey of a true martial arts master. Master Jones not only covers some of the finer points in how to grow in your karate skills and abilities, but also delves into the enhancement of internal strength and fortitude. Yet, he has found a way to convey his knowledge in a way that is easy reading, fun and hard to put down. I've read the book three times, and like kata, the more I study it the more I find new and deeper aspects and meaning. This one is highly recommended to any martial artist serious about looking to the next level of their art and themselves

A must read for any Karate Ka.
In my search for the true way a person should focus their enegy in the Martial Arts, no other instructor has given me more insight into a person's personal growth in the Martial Arts than Master Jones. Only having met him twice at Martial Arts seminars, he has left an impression on me as to what a Master in the Martial Arts should be. In his book he nicely out lines what he has found through experiences as a police officer and a student of the Martial Arts, not only how to practice the Martial Arts, but a few insights as how to live the way a Karate ka should. Through his stories we see that Karate is more than kicking and punching in a Dojo, but is a way of living, through deeds and practices. Karate, The Isshinryu Way, is a must read for any Karate Ka. No matter what form or style you are in this book will give an honest insight into Master Jones' journey in the Martial Arts. Hopefully it will inspire you as it has me.

This book is a wonderful compilation of letters that will touch your heart. It gives you great insight into the way these men and women felt, what they went through, and what they gave to us all. I have always respected them, but I do more than ever after this glimpse into their reality.

Moving, touching, warm and meaningful
This collection of letters from Ohio veterans is wonderfully chosen, well-presented, and sure to touch the heart of anybody whose life has been touched by military service.

Letters Home...My Dad Remembers
Having read the book compiled by Dan Meeks it gave me the perfect insight into what goes through our troops minds and the feelings they must have for their loved ones.

I passed the book on to my father who was part of the D Day Landings who was also very moved by many of the stories and said it brought back amazing memories of his time in the trenches.

Well done Dan

Joe White's advise is always on target!
Dr. Joe White is one of the most, if not the most respected horticulturist in the state of Louisiana. His advice is always on target and the book would make a great addition to any home library.

A wonderful reminder of childhood memories and gardening
I received this book as a birthday gift and haven't been able to put it down. It evoked childhood memories of Sasanquas in bowls, spider lillies in beloved friends' yards, and laughter at funny names like "Grancy Graybeard." I remembered a gigantic yellow Lady Banksea rose that grew so large it took over the roof of my playhouse. Thanks for the memories and helpful advice. Even my grandfather the masterful gardener would approve.

The best of its kind on this topic!
Anyone wishing to garden in Louisiana's unique environment should consult this guide. Organized by plant type, it is easy use for species identification, planting instructions, and care tips.

Refer to this guide before purchasing plants and again when doing garden maintenance.

Inside map of the human heart
I am a family therapist. The Love Bug offers a rare and compelling window into the relationship that exists between a therapist and his patient. Each of the ten true cases illustrate Dr. Briddell's efforts to nudge his patients into the process of resolving their personal crisis. A crisis is the turning point at which things will either get better or worse. It is possible to have a crisis which does not result in change; many people go through the full compliment of life's crises without adding anything new to their repertoire, without learning a damned thing new. Dr. Briddell, like the rest of the world's family therapists, does not have foolproof techniques nor magic. Instead, he is a friendly consultant, a sane, successful, well-adjusted, intelligent expert on problem-solving, an optimistic and amused observer of the human comedy. The Love Bug is a beautifully written story with a full cast of sinners, sufferers, and opportunists. Each story maps a human heart. Each story is exquisite as an individual piece; the book is compelling as a whole.

Awesome book!
I give this book 5 stars, a two thumbs up, and a ten! I'm tempted to ditch my therapist and move to Virginia Beach just to go to Dr. Bridell. I've never written a review before, but I had to for this one. This book is incredible! I'm going to buy a copy for everyone in my family! Man, you thought YOU had problems!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
I AM A TEACHER AND THOUGHT I'D SEEN AND HEARD IT ALL, BUT I GUESS I WAS WRONG. THIS BOOK OPENED MY EYES AND GAVE ME HOPE FOR THE MANY TROUBLED LIVES THAT ENTER MY CLASSROOM. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. I JUST COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!! SUPER READ!!!

An amusing and interesting spiritual autobiography
If you are a fan of Indiana-bred novelist and spiritual writer Dan Wakefield, then make sure that you don't pass up this book! Although the title does not acknowledge any "Part 2", this book is actully a follow up to Wakefield's earlier spiritual autobiography "Returning". But whereas "Returning" dealt with the story of Wakefield's coming to faith in God after years as an atheist, this book deals with the up ever-winding Christian journey that Wakefield has lived since then. If you are fan of Wakefield's novels, then this book will give you some real insights as to what he was thinking and living when he wrote "Selling Out" and "Under The Apple Tree" in particular. This book also tells the story of how Wakefield's first novel, "Going All the Way", was made into a movie, with much involvement and enthusiasm from Wakefield himself. The book is quite episodic in its narative, and each chapter seems to move from one crisis and/or triumph to another. My favorite chapter deals with the time that Wakefield attended a supposedly Jung-ian "Post Christian" retreat, which in fact turned out to be nothing short of an anti-Christian brainwashing camp! The way in which Wakefield wisely deals with the pushy "Post Christian" group leaders, and verbally defends his faith in Christ along the way (under the worst of adversity and peer-pressure!), makes for some real page-turning moments! Some traditional Christian readers may be put off by Wakefield's almost brutal honesty in places. He admits to alcohol and drug abuse (although he has since gotten sober). He recounts several unhealthy sexual releationships, with a variety of diverse and willing women, and he is not above using occassional profanity. But if these things do not scare you away, then "How Do We Know When It's God" is well worth your time and money!

an interesting, engaging, honest portrayal of spiritual thir
As always, Dan Wakefield offers us an interesting, engaging, honest portrayal of his spiritual hunger--a craving that both leads him to places of darkness as well as hope. Without self-pity, Wakefield offers his mistakes and shortcomings as part of the pilgrimage of growth. This book, like his others, are candid and refreshing--the perfect read for imperfect pilgrims searching for an authentic voice in the world of spirituality.

A "how not to do it" book definitely worth reading!
Wakefield described this book as "how not to do it", an extremely accurate description. In addition to being very informative, it is an extremely enjoyable read. He leads the reader through all of his victories AND his (many) mistakes and defeats. Although this book doesn't contain all "the answers", I felt so much better just knowing that the spiritual wilderness I am currently traversing has been survived by someone who lived to write about it! Thanks Dan!

this book "cooks"
The concept of the book is great and the combination of serious science, humor and clever drawings makes for excellent reading. I will be recommending this to friends.

Masterpiece!
Great work by two cutting edge experts in their respective fields - archaeology and culinary arts. Just looking at the cover makes me salivate and crave for great food... Definitely for those not wanting to lose weight, though. If you want to lose weight, do the tropics thing.

superhuman evolution cookbook!!
Wow! This book is a double-whammy success! Not only is the running dialogue on our current knowledge of human evolution and prehistoric material culture right on spot and highly entertaining (it could easily serve as an outline for a university course on the subject), this book is also chalk-a-block full of yummy recipes! I hope there is a sequel in the works!

Jubilation Gap

Laugh, and laugh some more
This is the funniest thing I've ever read. I got in 32d hand from a cousin on ma's side, who had already passed it thru her entire family twice. From me to my dad to my cousins on his side and back around to my sibs. Nobody could find it in a bookstore, and we kept passing this volume around until it literally fell apart despite valiant efforts with glue and tape by several of us.

Every kind of humor is here -- man/woman humor, cowboy humor, slow humor building from inocuous beginnings that evolve into outrageous consummations, plays on words and names, memorable phrases by forgettable rascals ("Shoot the scutter!"). This homely tale of the range of the Old West has cunning cows, stupid people accidentally winning, smart people outsmarting themselves, bad guys getting their due. Everyone's on the make in some sense and no one's plans work out quite as envisioned.

If God has a sense of humor, this is surely how he sees the human comedy.

Belly-Laughs Galore!
When my father-in-law recommended this book I took it with trepidation. It was old and tattered. I should have known, no one reads a book that many times unless it's great! I have now read the book 3 times. It is uproariously funny! Parkinson is a master of juxtaposition of his characters--be they people or animal. If you've read Parkinson before, you'll know he usually includes a running gag all through the book. This one revolves around the Russian character Vladimir. His native tongue is misinterpreted in many ways. It reminds one of Mrs. Malaprop!

Extreme hilarious coincidence
Dan Parkinson is the master of creating chaos out of order.Unusual characters thrown together in an out of the way -turn of the century Las Vegas in Kansas of all places. Toss in a Russian master of "Wadka", an out of place Massachusetts blueblood,a drunken Shakespearean,a lost herd of cows, girls, illegal booze, and oh yeah a circus elephant. How Parkinson weaves all these elements together is pure mastery of the obsurd and the hilarious.Laugh out loud? Impossible not to!

Vim vigor and tonic
Great variety - especially in the art styles, tone and energy - will keep you looking forward to each story. The stories themselves are very interesting. Whether it's epic battle, insightful character work, humorous genre pieces, or even abstracted explorations, these artists did a wonderful job. I can't wait for the sequel!

Couldn't put it down!
A fun book. Lots of sillyness, a little romance, a little drama, all from a fan based perspective.
The high point was the film noir/50's sci-fi murder mystery, "Hazzard Von Braun, Astronaut Detective". Purposfully campy, definitely fun.
It's a thick book and a good read. Highly recommended!

a little bit of everything
I really liked this book. It was a chance for me to see more than one aspect of anime. It also gave me a taste of what each of the artists can do. I look forward to seeing more from each artist. I gave the book to friends and family to read and they too seem to have enjoyed it. Most of them didn't know what anime was, so this was a great introduction for them.
