If you're purchasing this book to price your coins--don't. All coin photos (black and white) are in the back of the book. You then have to page through to find the reference number that corresponds to it; which brings you to some useless information. Finally, you'll resort to the index (between useless information and photo's) in hopes that it might shed some light on...anything. It's doesn't. This book is poorly put together. I reluctantly give it a star.

I had to read this book for a marine animal book report. The only important character is Halic, and all he does is swim around all day! I did not like it at all

THIS BOOK WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM A HANDBOOK. THE INFORMATION IS VERY, VERY GENERAL. THERE ARE NO EQUATIONS OR CHARTS. THERE IS AN EXTENSIVE TABLE OF SEAL MATERIALS FOR VARIOUS FLUID SERVICES. IT COVERS ONLY GENERALLY ACCEPTED DESIGN, OPERATIONAL, AND SERVICE CRITERIA. THIS BOOK PROBABLY COULD BE USED BY AN ENGINEER LOOKING FOR GENERAL INFORMATION FOR A POTENTIAL APPLICATION OF MECHANICAL SEALS. THIS BOOK IS VERY LIGHT READING AND IS, AT BEST, A BASIC INTRODUCTION TO MECHANICAL SEALS. I WAS CONSIDERING BUYING IT BUT FORTUNATELY I BORROWED IT FROM A LIBRARY. DO NOT BUY IT, BORROW IT FROM A LIBRARY.

The company I work for bought this book. What surprised me given the price we paid, is how poorly the book is made. When I opened the book for the first time, four pages fell out. It's full of advertisements. They are actually glued to one ribbon placemarker, and tied in a knot to another. This maybe common practice these days, but I was surprised to see how irritating it was made to be in this book. Many of the drawings are poor resolution.

Came across this book in a used bookstore in Boise, ID. Unhistorical, nothing but anti-Catholic diatribe without historical or theological basis.

It is not apparent from Amazon's description that this book is mostly written in Chinese. One chapter in the end of the book is English, so, if you don't read Chinese this book will not be much help.

For one who lived in Corvallis at the time referred to in this book, and still lives there, this book is an amusing concept, and I'm passing it around to others here for a belly laugh. The quote that Gerald was "Obviously the results were impressive, and Seals was off to South Carolina" hardly reflects the feelings of the citizenry at the time I think. My own opinion is that this book be relegated to the history of Sunday Funnies section. It's amusing.

The content of this book has been in Time and Newsweek magazine. It is not a manual. It is a Cliff Notes of SEAL history and information. Unfortunatly they left out all the information one might want.
