Webster's Red Seal Crossword Dictionary
This is the best dictionary. It is easy to use because of the unique system of word groupings. I have four crossword dictionaries and this one is the best. I need to replace it as I have it held together with tape and string.

My mother is 84 years old and she has used this dictionary exclusively since it's been in print. Her current copy is in shredds. We've got to find her one. Her life is not that full and crosswording is very important and this dictionary is a big part of her puzzling joy.

Interesting Designs
Good reference book. Full of designs that can be reproduced. If one is trying to teach a unit on Aztec designs this is the perfect book to get. Students can reproduce the designs and have fun. If the purpose is to create graphics, there are several great designs to choose from.

Valuable resource book
This book is a bargain and especially useful for artists working in various mediums that want to include the ancient designs of Mexico. All of the motiffs are authentic and come from extensive research with such collaborators as Mexico's National Museum and it's diretors and associated profesors. Numerous individual contributors, such as artists like Diego Rivera and Miguel Covarrubias have contributed their own personal collections for reproduction. The author, Jorge Enciso, first published this book in 1947 and it has been out of print for quite awhile, that is until Dover Press came out with a paperback edition. The designs are all magnificent reproductions of stamps used in various parts of ancient Mexico. Many of the designs you've probably seen before in artwork where a Mexican motiff is used but there are countless others that are unique and rarely seen. Intricate, geometric designs abound as well as drawings that feature the natural world and the use of animal figures both real and imagined. The decorative patterns are eloborate manifestations of the cultures of pre-Columbian Oaxaca, Veracruz, Azcapotzalco, Yucatan, Puebla and Teotihuacan amongst others. Many of these designs are still used in the arts and crafts that are produced in these areas. There are more designs than any one artist could ever use. These designs are useful as well as springboards for other ideas inspired by the ancient designs. Dover Press has given permission to use up to ten designs for any project without permission so any artist can use them without copyright infringement. A very handy book for people interested in preserving the artistic traditions of Mexico.

an excelent source of ancient Mexican designs
I love this book! There are images in various shapes and sizes from very detailed to very simple. All designs have been reproduced in sharp black-and-white so they are easy see, copy, enlarge, etc. I reproduce the images in artwork and crafts and this book has proven to be EXACTLY what I need for my work. Also, each design is labeled with a brief description of it's use and where it was found. The designs are put in helpful categories by subject so if you are looking for a certain animal, that particular design is easy to find. Anyone even slightly interested in ancient Mexican designs will find this to be a beautiful book.

Go SEALs!!!!!!!!
This is a great SEAL book, it has a good plot and very good writing. I have read all but the first SEAL books and I think Keith Douglass'earlier books are the best. This one is on the top of the list. The newer books (starting with Flashpoint) get prety boring because a firefight is over within seconds because of that bullpup, they shoot around cornners and blow evey thing up. I think Keith should take them out by saying that one acidently blew up when they were traning or somthing. But I am not saying that these are bad books I really enjoy reading them I think this book is good right now because of the situatioin over in Iraq.

Sea, Air and Land
Again Keith Douglass writes a great book. Full of action and suspense. Blake Murdock is great. This is a great series of books. Recommended to everyone who likes military fiction.

Hook, Line, and Sinker
Keith Douglas writes a another book that has the right amount of suspence, action, and adventure. I read this book constantly until there was no more. I hope Keith Douglass writes another book in the series I just can't wait!

Stellar
This book is, without question, the best book available for anyone who is a parent (or intends to eventually become a parent) and wants to preserve or increase their children's intrinsic motivation to learn. If you want children to WANT to learn, to learn WELL, to ENJOY learning, and to CONTINUE learning even after their schooling has ended, there is no finer book than this one. It also will be a fantastic contribution for any person who teaches or intends to eventually teach. I recommend this without question!!

SUPER REFERENCE FOR PARENTS
This book answers a lot of questions I've had about parenting. It has good sections on how and when to use rewards, when and how to praise your kids, when you should tell them "Do this now!" and when you should let go. I especially liked a chapter on intelligence where they explain why it's better to emphasize that intelligence isn't a fixed quality. I had never thought about this before but found that it is useful for keeping your kids encouraged in school.

I found that I already do some of the things this book recommends - like reading to my children -- but that they also suggested interesting ways to "stop nagging" my kids yet still have them do their homework, ways to help them do well on standardized tests yet face them calmly, and ways to ensure their self-esteem. One thing I found especially useful was two chapters on choosing schools. They give very specific instructions on how to judge a preschool and what to look for when you visit elementary schools. It gave me a list of questions to ask take when I looked at a preschool for my son recently, so I feel now that I can make decisions based on research and not just instinct.

The best thing about this book is that is a good read. There are lots of examples and suggestions for what to do and what to say, even a quiz to give yourself. This is a book I would definitely give at baby showers, because it's a guide you can refer to from babyhood onward.

Motivated Minds
This book should be required reading for all parents. Carefully researched, this book lets you know how a child can learn to love learning and how a parent can help that process. The book is written in a beautiful flowing style so there is not a minute of boredom. Research facts and stories intertwine to demonstrate exactly what children need to succeed.

40 years old and in the best shape I have ever been in
Marks book has changed my life. I read his book in August of 2002 and was very impressed with what he said. I soon started the workout for myself and have seen some major changes in the shape of my body. His workout is hard and isnt for the wimpy but I would recommend it to everyone. I teach this workout to ladies at my church who range in age from 18-55. They have seen great results also. They keep coming back everyday so I know they love it too. If you want to get in shape try it, it works!

Hey, Mark de Lisle signed my copy!
I am extremely generous with this rating because Mark was bold enough to get himself in print at all. He mailed to me what I believe was a prototype version of the book back in early 1997. By what I mean by prototype is a light-brown 8X11 paperback with black-and-white pictures. Also, Mark had a nice write-up about the book in General Nutrition Center's magazine, "Let's Live", also in 1997, referring to this very same book. (This was around the same time Demi Moore's film "G.I. Jane" was released, about a fictional female SEAL.)

ultimate athletes bible
Wow! These are not your ordinary exercises. They have a whole bunch of uncommon exercises from the most extreme you can image to really easy. Exercises that work your explosive muscle fibers as well as leaving in pain and out of breath. That is of course if you wish to push yourself. Their are dozens of un heard of stretches that stretch parts of your body you have never stretched even through running books and basket. I know because i am a cross-country runner. This book is full of great exercises that work all your individual muscles to the max. Its so easy to do the exercises because they dont require any equipment just yourself. If you think you are so tough and nothing can compare to your strength, just try some of these exercises and see for yourself.

Factual yet entertaining
The Orphan Seal is a wonderful book that presents a true story full of scientific information in such a way that is neither condescending nor too intellectual. I found it to have the right mix of storytelling charm and facts. A child interested in science will love it.

ORPHAN SEAL
The ORPHAN SEAL is a wonderful book for everyone. This true story is written with warmth and caring. Each of my grandchildren will receive a copy of ORPHAN SEAL because it is an educational and fun book to read.

A wonderfully entertaining and illustrated true story.
The Orphan Seal is a heartwarming and true story of a tiny harbor seal pup separated from his mother by an April storm on the coast of Maine. Washed up on the rocky shore, coastal residents saw the pup and reported him to the Seal Rescue Program at the New England Aquarium in Boston. Two of the Rescue Program scientists verified the seal was orphaned and took the sick, malnourished pup to the Aquarium's hospital. Veterinarians treated him and by September the pup (named Howler by the Aquarium staff) was ready to return to the sea and was successfully released off the coast of Cape Cod. The Orphan Seal is wonderfully illustrated by Dawn Peterson in perfect accompaniment to Fran Hodgkins' charming, engaging story for young readers ages 4 to 10 of a young seal named Howler and the good people responsible for his rescue.

The one that started it all!!
I have read the entire series of Seal Team Seven and still come back to re-read the novel that started it all!! Douglass's initial portrayal of the Team is very authentic - the close ties to the Teams and their brothers-in-arms. Everything seems to have been well though out and kept as realistic as it could be. Too bad after the 4th or 5th novel, this gets lost in a sea of techno-gadgetry and Rambo-esque battles.

Hang on tight for a great roller coaster ride! Hoo-Yaah!
This is the book that starts it all. A great book about the Navy SEALs. If you are into the subject, you will love this book and are bound to enjoy the rest of Keith Douglass' series. Great characters and great action! You'll soon be looking for the next book in the series.

Great Story
I loved this book! It had an excellent blend of suspense and a good storyline. I love Douglas's description of the battles and how he describes each encounter so thoroughly. I enjoyed reading about the raid on the plutonium carrying boat and how they rescued the ship. This is a great book for anyone who enjoyes other special ops books.

The Seals on the Bus

The perfect first book
I started reading to my son Owen when he was just a few months old, and this charming book was one of the first ones he reacted to. Now at 19 months, it's still his favorite. Colorful pictures, repetitive text, and the opportunity to use puppet-style hand gestures while you read make this a great interactive story for very young children. This book has earned its place, at least on our bookshelf, alongside classics like Bill Martin/Eric Carle's "Brown Bear, Brown Bear..."

Great Prek book
This book is a throw off of the popular wheel on the bus song for young children. the words have been changed in that instead of a lot of humans you have various circus and land animals acting in crazy outlandish funny ways . Great gift idea!!!

Old favorite with new fun
This book brings new fun to the kid-pleasing song, The Wheels on the Bus. In this version various animals board the bus with increasing chaotic results. Until, in the end, the people on the bus are crying, "help, help, help." The pictures are delightful. This is a great book to share - especially with children who already know and love the original song.

Sweet
I think that this book was very well-writen and that the characters were very real. However, in my opinion, I don't think Rachel should have kept PJ a secret from Mac. You just can't do that to a man dedicated to saving our country. She had no right, even though I think she was scared. Too scared to think right. PJ is a very sweet little boy, the spitting image of his daddy. Mac's attitude towards fatherhood is predicable, but still heart-warming. This book was VERY heart-warming and fun!

FASCINATING!
Part of the Bachelors & Babies series.
Wonderful characters with Lieutenant Commander Pete "Mac" Mckenna and the lady he left behind Rachel Grant. His son, P.J., Peter James, whom he has not met and Rachel's friend, Chloe, a firey, fiesty, artsy person who is in love with Rachel's boyfriend.

Don't pass this up and you will enjoy all the time it takes to read it. Recommended with a --M.

An evocative tale -- Highly recommended
Two years had not erased the memory of Rachel Grant. Now injured and forced to take time off, Lieutenant Commander Pete "Mac" McKenna returns to the city of New Orleans where he once shared snow cones and passion with Rachel. He does not know they also shares another profound connection.

Rachel never thought Mac would return. Four weeks of love had radically changed her life, and when he left, Mac took part of her with him. But he also left her pregnant, and it was the pregnancy that made his loss bearable. Mac has already chosen life as a Navy SEAL over her once, and Rachel does not intend to a repetition of history. She also cannot deny him the opportunity to be a father.

Once again author Metsy Hingle pens an emotional, evocative tale in NAVY SEAL DAD. Her love for military heroes makes this tale sparkle with its wounded hero and his confrontation with choices of the heart. Rachel Grant is a likewise striking character with her respect for Mac's need to be a SEAL and willingness to face the challenges that presents for her and her son, even when Mac decides to walk away from the career he loves. Secondary characters sparkle, especially the irrepressible roommate with the fantastic matchmaking skills and a heart of gold A delightful, thought provoking read, NAVY SEAL DAD comes highly recommended.
