Robert Munsch scores again!
Robert Munsch and Michael Martchenko have teamed up for another OUTSTANDING children's book. Kids of all ages will enjoy the tree climbing adventures of Anna. Although Anna is told by her parents not to climb, she continues to climb anything in and outside the house. It was like being reunited with an old friend when I read Munsch's favorite kid response come out of Anna's mouth,'No, no, no, no, no!' The details found in the illustrations always amaze me as I recognize pieces from past Munsch/Martchenko creations. Anna makes every parent smile as she works to help her wounded parents.

Excellent Essays
A series of excellent essays that critique television and society. A highly recommended follow up read to Arlen's "Living Room War". Its nice to read intelligent television criticism from someone who actually likes the medium and doesn't scapegoat it.

A must-read for travellers in Ireland.
I'm ordering an extra copy of this book for my Irish house; it walks away with visitors, I think. It's a wonderful wander through a colorful land which, in a way, persists behind the modern clutter, the wide roads and narrow minds that have replaced the old ways. I'll carry it with me as I drive down to Roundstone, up to Sligo, amethyst mining on Achill ... the stones, plants, birds and other charms of Ireland are merrily visited, and it gives another dimension to one's explorations.

Simple, elegant introduction to Thoreau and others
Not a biographical sketch of Thoreau in a typical sense, but in a poetic one. Every word Thoreau wrote was essential, and Robert Bly has selected rich, complex prose selections from "Walden" and other writings, along with Thoreau's little-published poetry, to shine light into the soul of one of our most important American writers. Beautifully illustrated with woodcuts, a careful positioning of text on the page - simple, elegant, compelling. Bly's comments on Thoreau's writings and life, and on the contexts in which Thoreau can be seen, provide an excellent structure to his large body of work, and a wonderful guide to further reading. If we had all started our high school readings of Thoreau with this book, there would be no market for the current plethora of books on simplifying life. Our "Waldens" would be well-worn. It's all here, simply, beautifully, essentially

Out of Print?
I can't believe this book isn't available. I loved every minute spent with it. Robert Pyle is scientist and poet and he writes about the Willapa Hills with the same love I feel for the Oregon coast - also overlogged and abused but beautiful nonetheless. He teaches and shows how to look in new ways. Fantastic!
