Brief but fascinating - wonderful drawings
This A4 paperback provides a good visual introduction to Tirpitz and some data on Bismarck. The first part includes general arrangement drawings of armour, followed by well-chosen photgraphs of the ship which show most of the details a modeller or historian would need. Some of the photographs are wrongly captioned, however, and they are not in chronological order. Some are also out of focus, but this is probably due to poor originals being used.

The drawings of the ship are of exceptionally high quality and include all deck plans, all critical sections and elevations and a set of 'lines'. Although of small scale - about 1:1000 - they are sharp enough to stand enlargement.

There are also a number of photographs of a museum model of Tirpitz, but these are not of very high quality and the viewpoints are repetitive and unimaginatively chosen.

Overall, very good value and essential for any Tirpitz/Bismarck enthusiast.

Good furniture book
The plans are described and drawn well. The style tends to lean more towards country or crafts, but the designs are well done. You could easily change the wood from pine to cherry, maple, oak or mahogany and get a different look. The important thing is that the furniture in this book is designed well.

An excellent chronology of WW2
This is an excellent book, dealing with all the naval events happened in the 1939/1945 period. The book is arranged in chronological order, in the sense that you can find an entry dealing with a single day or with a given period (i.e. June, 4th-6th 1942, Battle of Midway), in order to keep together facts logically related, but spanned over a period of more than one day. Moreover there is a subdivision dealing with operational theatres (Mediterranean, Northern Atlantic, Western Pacific and so on) so one can easily find all the relevant facts regarding a given theatre in a given day or period. The only drawback is that if you are looking for a specific day, you have to search for in every period containing that given day to be sure to find everything.
Anyway, this is an excellent book, a very useful one containing information regarding not only the major events or ships, but also the minor ones (you can find that in a given day a minesweeper hit a mine and sank). I think this is a high value adding to every naval enthusiast's library.

Degas: Impressions of a Great Master

Color pictures galore!
Smithmark Publishers has created a great high quality book; high quality paper and great color pictures. Most of the pictures are large format; none of that custom of 20 pictures to a page! The main sections are: a 14 page introduction with a fair amount of biographical information for a picture book; a family and friends section covering his trips to New Orleans and Italy; an "outer World" section that covers his horse racing paintings, the milliner shop and women at work paintings. The last two sections are quite large; his theater and dance paintings and his bather paintings. A very nice picture of his "Little Dancer Aged Fourteen" sculpture is included. In summary, you won't be an expert on Degas life after reading this book,; but, you'll have a great appreciation of his works. Most, if not all of his more famous paintings are in the book, but few of his lesser known works.

Basic, critical considerations for entering foreign markets.
This book is a very useful, if broad, guidebook for entering into global markets - sort of an International Business 101. It covers all of the necessary bases for planning to take a business overseas. It's heavy on exambles from the Middle East, but will help anyone develop a market entry strategy on the highest level for any foreign country.

FULL of unique color photographs
Great book amazingly produced at an incredible value for money: hardcover in a perfect bound, every page full of excellent color pictures that presents every species described in a not too botanical language that every garden will understand.... The only 'but' is that cultivation is just dealt in one page, not enough for such an interesting book..

Excellent Resource for Greek Studies
I have several lexicons and I find myself using this more often than not. Many entries give needed background information, such as word uses in classical Greek and the Spetuagint, etc. like most mid-level lexicons. I also own the 3 volume work by Colin Brown, but that is a nightmare to try and figure out how to use. These 3 volumes stick to the practical format of alphabetical listings of the words, which means you need to know how to read Greek to find the word, but is time-saving nonetheless. Interpretational slants are largely absent from this work, unlike some other lexicons I have, making this a trustworthy set.

This lexicon is good for those of us who lack the spare cash to go by Kittel's 10-volume behemoth.

The Index of Jung's Collected Works
This is the 20th and final volume of the Collected Works of Carl Jung (1875-1961), the "General Index to the Collected Works", assembled by editors and first published in 1979. Clearly, this is not a book one reads from cover to cover. Nevertheless, it is indispensable to anyone studying Jung in depth or compiling a "Jungian" interpretation of something. Jung was extraordinarily well read in philosophy, comparative religion & mythology, and alchemy, and his works are dense with those quotes. He frequently cites dreams to illustrate a point, and one can look up these exemplary dreams by topic in this index. This is a unique reference work.

Great insight and understanding will be gained.
Weinberg's short interpretations and insights make this a great book. If you are looking for a large quantity of in-depth information on the entire war then this is not the book for you. However, if you are seeking a broad overveiw of the German attitude before and during the war with regards to specific information of broad topics; this book is for you. Weinberg deals with issues such as;the European balance of power in 1918, the German generals' reaction to the planning of a war against Poland, what Germany was planning to do with their victory, the German perspective on Pearl Harbor, and many more topics. Overall this book provides great insight to areas that are not traditionally covered in other books.

Hitler's Children: The Hitler Youth and the Ss
Published in Paperback by Univ of North Carolina Pr (1991)
Author: Gerhard Rempel
Amazon base price: $24.95

Bund Deutsche Madel
There have been a wide range of materials written on the nazi youth movement, but the vast majority tend to focus almost exclusively on the male Hilter Jugend. However, "Hitler's Children" has a fairly reasonable discussion of the Bund Deutsche Madel for girls as well. Among other things, it focusses on the girls' involvement in farming to help with the war effort.

Another main subject is the involvement of the SS with the Hitler youth for indoctrination and recruiting purposes, as well as espionage. There is some discussion of the leaders of the Hitler youth, although it does not really get extensively biographical. There is also a fair amount of coverage of the involvement of the Hitler youth in military activities (air raid fire brigades and digging anti-tank trenches towards the end). This book also has the only detailed discussion I have seen of the conflicts between the Hitler youth and the broad spectrum of other youth groups (communist, religious, middle class, etc.).
