Porsche Story

Authors: Julius Weitmann and Michael Cotton
Amazon base price: $51.95
Used price: $43.95
Average review score:

The Family Photo Album Of The Porsche Factory
Even though this book is a little expensive, it is one of my favorite books on Porsche. Weitmann lived just a short distance from the Porsche factory, and for years was the official photographer for Porsche. His photos, and those of several other photographers, make this the 'family photo album' of the Porsche factory. You may recognize many of these photos because they are some of the most famous Porsche photos ever. Combined with Michael Cotton's fine editing and writing, this later revised-edition has grown to over 400 pages and covers most of the Porsche production and racing up to 1991. It is an absolute 'must' for any collector of books about Porsches. Buy your copy before it disappears from the shelf.

Superlative wealth of usable information
I borrowed "Preventive Cardiology" from the library, and after reading through it, I decided to purchase it! Excellent background of epidemiologic information complete with crisp charts and graphs, great up to date explanations of pathophysiology, well formed treatment recommendations and guidelines presented. There is a wealth of up to date information consistant with the current primary literature on laboratory and diagnositic tests, medications, diet, and patient assessment. "Preventive Cardiology" is well written, easy to read, and a great reference tool for all health care providers.

Project 928 Book
This is it, the ultimate Porsche 928 book if you can find one for your reference library. Two versions available I believe, German and English. Since purchasing my first 928S and later a 928GT the book has provided me hours of reading and browsing enjoyment. It has even turned into a yearbook of sorts as I collected other 928 owner's signatures and notes inside when attending various 928 events and gatherings. See how the first water cooled production Porsche was designed and built. It's all in Project 928! Best of Luck Shark Fans ...

Prolegomena to the History of Israel
Published in Hardcover by IndyPublish.com (2003)
Author: Julius Wellhausen
Amazon base price: $102.99
Average review score:

This is _THE_ book
A century and a quarter ago Julius Wellhausen wrote a book for prospective church pastors in which he outlined the way in which the Pentateuch was formed. Prior to Wellhausen the theory of Graf had been all but neglected. It was Wellhausen who persuaded his readers that the Levitical Law was not accepted as authoritative until the time of Ezra. It was Wellhausen who laid out the standard Documentary Hypothesis.

Wellhausen's theory has been revised and challanged in numerous ways. Some scholars have tried to establish more than four sources. Some scholars have tried to show that there was a different form of transmission. And some scholars have denied that there were ever sources known as JEDP. Umberto Casuto did so on the basis of challanging the presuppositions of the Doccumentary Hypothesis. R K Harrison did so as a traditionalist/
conservative who argued that the Pentateuch was a "homogenous composition in five volumes." (See Harrison's OT Intro. which is available from Amazon.) Even W F Albright operated on the assumption that archaeology would act as a control against unnecessary literary speculation. Despite the attacks of the Copenhagen School and scholars such as Van Seters, Wellhausen's version of the Documentary Hypothesis is still alive today.

Anyone studying the Hebrew Bible will have to deal with this book.

A Psychiatric Study of Myths and Fairy Tales; Their Origin, Meaning, and Usefulness.
Published in Hardcover by Charles C Thomas Pub Ltd (1974)
Author: Julius E. Heuscher
Amazon base price: $49.25
Used price: $59.99

A Psychiatric Study of Myths and Fairy Tales
This book is an excellent introduction to the various means of analyzing fairy tales. The author gave a thorough explanation of the concepts detailed, and I really liked the fact that various approaches to the analysis of fairy tales were given. Heuscher gave differing views upon each fairy tale, showing how the views differed, and how they would often complement each other and bring out new meanings in each. The book tackles not only individual fairy tales, but also examines themes (death, golden hair, etc.) which run through many tales.
