This is an excellent book for the professional designer or decorator looking for a comprehensive catalog of "out of the ordinary" finishes. The finishes reviewed are generally european in heritage, although many were imported to the US during the last 2 centuries. This is not a handbook for the weekend "do-it-yourself" decorator/painter as the finishes illustrated require multiple steps and practice to attain the desired look. The book is an excellent resource when discussing finishes and 'looks'with a professional painter/finisher. Additionally, the photographs are of a fine enough quality to help the reader understand the relationship of the color, technique and texture to the surrounding room. This should help the reader to visually conceive the design before the project execution and thereby minimize 'mistakes'. Enjoy!

James Martin has produced a work that all members of the health physics community will find invaluable. Students, instructors and practicing radiation protection professionals will find this book useful. It covers, in a clear and concise manner, all of the important radiation physics topics that comprise the foundation of radiation protection. Whether used as a teaching tool or as a reference, this book fills a void in the literature that has long existed. I wish this work were available when I was receiving my radiation protection training.

As the RSO of a major ophthalmic pharmaceutical research and development company, I will apply the information in this book to both radiation safety operations and to radiation safety training for our users.

This has got to be one of the most intriguing books I have ever read. If you are a World/Political History buff then this book is a must read. I would give it 10 stars out of five to this one!

Textbooks are usually out of date by the time they are in print. Not so with Delbeke et al's new Practical FDG Imaging! This book is not only timely but excellent, written by outstanding clinical physicians and physicists who are also world-reknown educators. It is a very practical, "real world" book that is released at a critical time of explosive growth in FDG PET imaging. It stands alone in filling a badly needed niche in the education of imagers using this new technology.

The early chapters on the history of PET and the physics of PET are very helpful in understanding the basic science and political milieu involved in the subject. It is sad that this technology, with so much to offer suffering patients, has been held back by regulatory red tape and government shinanigans. PET still suffers in this regard to a large extent.

The later chapters are very instructive in pitfalls, normal varients, and in demonstrating "real" clinical cases, from the basic to the complicated - just as a practitioner sees in a "real life" practice of taking care of sick people.

If you are involved at any level with FDG PET imaging, I cannot recommend this book more strongly. You will find many useful pearls, broad understanding, interesting background, and exciting cases that will aid you (and your patients) immeasurably in delivery of state-of-the-art care in the foundation of 21st Century Medicine!

A perfect book for beginners, the auther illustrated the topic in a perfect way making it simple to understand by giving real life example, I would strongly recommed it for beginners but he keeps repeating things a lot in the book.

This is the perfect book for a hardcore Prodigy fan. You learn a bit about the whole band ,their beginnings , and their hardships. All in all I'm a huge Keith Flint fan(I dressed up as him for a local talent show and performed a selection from the band) and this was surely the most informative Prodigy book I have read. I just want another album to come out. If you're a real Prodigy fan you'll check this book out and get hooked.

As a Catholic, I have been waiting for a book like this for a long time. The two editors have gathered together a great group of active Catholics who speak about the way that they live out their faith in the "working world"--whether it be as a lawyer, businessperson, doctor, writer, spouse, parent, and so on. It really gave me a new way of looking at my faith and at my work. I've recommended it to so many people already.

This book is a great resource on the false teachings of James Dobson. Gives information on the original sources of the self-esteem heresies invading the church. Does not attack Dobson's personality but instead focuses on issues. This book was doomed for commercial success from its inception and is only more proof of the stranglehold of acceptance psychology has made in the church. Out of print but I know it is likely to be available from some sources so I suggest requesting it.

This book is a classic recorder reference. It was originally published in 1962. Be forewarned - this book is targeted to a musically sophisticated reader. The book begins with a section on the mechanics of sound production with the recorder; and offers suggestions on selection and care of an instrument. This is followed by the weakest part of the book; a somewhat unsatisfactory covering of recorder technique. Much of what is explained in this section is quite basic; despite that, it is rather confusing and hard to follow. This is followed by a truly excellent and complete discussion of the history of the recorder, and its place in music. This is divided into two sections: recorder practice and stylistic problems prior to 1600, and practice and problems 1600-1750. These sections cover such topics as articulation, ornamentation, notation, tempo and rhythm, and place the recorder in context with composers of the era. The text occasionally awkward, reflecting difficulties in translation from the original German; and the bibliography is quite out of date.

Representations and characters of finite groups are a classical subject, with substantial developments well underway a century ago. As a result there has been gradual refinement and polishing of the field. The beauty of this subject is shown well in this book. The style is clear and order of exposition excellent. Moreover, the authors write with great patience, both in respect to presenting calculations in detail and in providing the steps to proofs. This is not to say the book is easy, but rather that the distance from step to step is very well suited for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students. The book is highly mathematical in its outlook, except for the final chapter, which deals with normal modes of vibration of a molecule. There are some real gems. In a certain finite group, is it possible to find an element of order two and one of order four whose product has order three? The answer may be found in the chapter, "An Application to Group Theory." The presentation of the Frobenius Reciprocity Theorem is a exceptional delight. As for prerequisites, a good grounding in general group theory at an undergraduate level and a reasonably good acquaintance with rings and modules should suffice.
