Inspirational Time Capsule
Father Martin describes the events of the World Trade Center tragedy of 9/11 in gently vivid, reader-kind prose. I felt I had a true, but down-to-earth description of how it must have been to have actually been on site following this terrible disaster, but without all the "must-sell" hype of news writers and television broadcasters. The scene described by Fr. Martin was descriptive without being gory or graphic. The whole experience of reading about the tragedy and its heros through the author's "eyes" was as a prayer. I want to give this book to all my friends and family, and recommend it highly. cbm/Atlanta, GA

A profoundly moving book
As Sister Helen Prejean said on the back jacket, this is not just another 9/11 book. It is much more than that. Father Martin speaks of course about the heroism and charity of the rescue workers at the World Trade Center, but with this book he also gives the reader a profound meditation on the way that God can work during times of suffering. It is a deeply moving (and beautifully written) book.

Heartbreaking and inspiring
For the most part, Jim Martin was just like any other American on September 11th--desperate to do "something." But he had what most of us don't--a Roman collar and the knowledge that God's word would be needed the most in that place of unparallelled evil. A policeman escorts him to Ground Zero, and Father Martin is sure he has entered hell.

Frightened by the carnage around him, Father Martin struggles to minister to the firefighters, cops and paramedics frantically digging by hand to reach buddies and strangers alike. But in the end he finds that he does not need to reveal God to these heartbroken rescuers--instead, God's grace is revealed to the world by their tireless sacrifice.

Father Martin gives us a glimpse into the unseen world of Ground Zero in the weeks following the September 11th attacks--it is a story of horror and, surprisingly, of hope and grace. For anyone whose faith was sorely tested by September 11th (and whose wasn't?), this book offers inspiration and solace.

an excellent, readable, oncology textbook
This textbook while being comprehensive enough,is enjoyable to read. As opposed to other major oncology textbooks, it provides definitive conclusions regarding treatment and is not overly burdening to the reader. Because Oncology changes so quickly, one could likely get by with this textbook and following the published literature.

It's an excellent consultation book.
The book is about the latest treatment in oncology. It's easy to obtain information out of this book. It has everything breast, lung, colorectal cancer, etc.

Wonderful Text, Brilliant Writing
I needed a text to teach an economics class with and searched for weeks with little satisfaction. Then I ran across this under utilized text. The writing is "brilliant" and the authors, especially Mr. Myers seem to have a very firm and realistic grasp of the essential concepts of "Economics"

Outstanding Economics Narrative
This is an outstanding economics textbook. Can be used as a quick primer on what the basics of the field are all about. I believe that the author of this book is a truly remarkable and extraordinary individual and everyone should listen to him closely.

Mort at his best
In talking with Mort I've come to realize the amount of work and detail he puts into every painting. This book sheds some light on that detail with interesting sidebars on his prints.

The pictures are crips and the stories about them are quite intersting. It's interesting to see his liberal use of the various histical data and how it was applied to find out more about the background of each print.

If you are a Mort Kunstler fan then this is the book for you.

Mort Kunstler is an awesome artist.
Mort Kunstler is a superb artist and his pictures capture important points in the war. I like his work and he's from Wisconsin!

Martin Used it Most, but He Wasn't First....
Martin's trilogy covers data and process modelling well....but then again, it's almost like reading every other Martin text on data modelling....or just like reading every other Martin text.

James Dobson's Gospel of Self-Esteem & Psychology
Published in Paperback by Eastgate Pub (1998)
Authors: Martin Bobgan and Deidre Bobgan
Amazon base price: $15.00
Average review score:

A must read for anyone who wants to be a Berean
Another well written, well documented and footnoted book by the Bobgans. They do not attack Dr. Dobson personally but they do quote extensively from his work and then show where he has moved away from biblical truth. It is a very eye opening book and is a must read for anyone who is wanting to hone their discernment skills. Don't take what the Bobgans say at face value, get your Bible out and see for yourself. Be a "Berean!"

Psychology--A Different Gospel?
"James Dobson's Gospel of Self-Esteem and Psychology" is an even-handed, fair, fully documented commentary on Dobson's "Christian" psychology. Authors Martin and Deidre Bobgan have followed "psycho-heresy" for many years and watched it swallow up counseling that is relies firmly on the Bible. They point out the origin of Dobson's self-esteem teaching, which is in the writings of atheistic psychologists like Maslow and Freud. They document of study that shows that American suffer from high self-esteem, not low, and that there is very low correlation between low self-esteem and behaviors such as drug use and violence, although that is one of Dobson's primary hypotheses.

They disagree with the premise that psychology is a treatment of the mind like medicine when they state that medicine is proveable and truly scientific while psychology is neither.

It seems that Dobson places his confidence in psychology primarily while tacking on a Bible verse here and there, claiming he is not a theologian, but aren't we all theologians when we espouse a view of the nature of man and of God? Does Dobson even think we need a Savior if we have psychology and a functional family to give us a good life? Dobson makes no differentiation between the treatment of Christians and nonChristians, but the Bible declares that one is in light and the other in darkness. Christians have the "Hope of Glory" in their Savior Jesus Christ.

Because psychology has so permeated the American church, I recommend this book to help bring us back to the Bible, the greatest book of all. After all, Christianity faired very well all these years without the diversion and detriment of psychology.

Very good!!!
This is a very good, highly readable history of James J. Hill, his family and his numerous successful business adventures, and the Great Northern Railway in particular.

The classic biography of the Empire Builder
Of the four major biographies of James J. Hill, this one is the best and most detailed. If it has a fault, it is that it is too detailed for many readers. But for those interested in the financial history of the Great Northern Railway and the personal history of its builder, this is the classic.

Martin had full access to the James J. Hill papers, now open to the public. Pyle's 1917 biography was also based on those papers, but Pyle was an employee of Hill's and tried to whitewash the truth, which actually made Hill look worse than he was. Holbrook's brief bio was based mainly on Pyle and rumor. Malone's 1996 book on Hill is to Martin's what Holbrook's was to Pyle's--a good intro but not as detailed as Martin's.

An Insightful Book - A Must Read !
Now that the U.S. has ratified the Genocide Treaty, and the hitherto unknown legal category "hate crime" is making headlines, this insightful study of the "genocide" idea, as seen through the career of Raphael Lemkin, the refugee Polish-German jurist who coined the word in 1944, has renewed relevance. Dr. Martin provides a masterful unraveling of the ways in which the specter of "genocide" has been manipulated by the powerful for political gain, and how this dubious international legal concept has done nothing to deter actual crimes against peoples. Written by an outstanding American revisionist scholar, author of numerous books, whose teaching career spanned 25 years.

I don't know !
That is the answer, what people usually have if they are ask who was the person that startet the international campaign against genozide. Raphael Lemkin, lawyer from Poland, who emigratet into the U.S.A. to fight for humanity. In his book Martin Joseph rewrites the life of Lemkin, his fight against genozide and gives an wonderful impression of the personallity of the "inventor of genozide"
