Just the Right Kind of Help
A practical book offering just the right kind of help when you are grappling with the grief and trauma of having a loved one who is terminally ill. For those who have the courage and situation calling for a dignified, loving death at home, this book is invaluable.

Coming Home: A Guide to Dying with Dignity
It's been 10 years since reading this book while caring for my mother-in-law.I have recommended it to many friends since then to help them with the care and preparation of death of their loved ones. Deborah Duda is an inspiration and her love and humor at such a difficult time is tremendously uplifting.

I don't know what I would have done without it
This wonderful book is a practical guide for caregivers and family members helping someone they love who is dying at home. It explains the logistics of bring a dying patient home from the hospital, resources available to home caregivers, how to give pain medications, how to make the patient comfortable (bathing, skin care, bedsores, catheters, etc.), how to deal with depression (both yours and the patient's), dealing with feelings about dying, legal considerations, preparation for death and afterward. Without this book I would have been terrified to take care of my grandmother at home until she died. With it, I was able to share her last six months and become closer to the amazing woman that was my grandmother. Those days are some of the most precious of my life, and I used "Coming Home" everyday. We bought a case of the books and distributed them to others sharing similar experiences.

The Coming Influence of China
Published in Paperback by Shannon Publishers (02 February, 2001)
Authors: Carl Lawrence and David Wang
Amazon base price: $11.99
Average review score:

I love this book
This is one of my favorite Christian books, and Carl Lawrence is a favorite author. The book repeats some of his earlier book, now out of print, "The Church in China." Even so, this does not detract. Lawrence details the movement of the Holy Spirit in China, while giving examples. Also, the book gives a history of Chinese missions, at least partly explaining this movement of Christianity in a hostile country. A great book!

A faith building book
Reading this book encouraged me greatly. The work of the Holy Spirit among Christians in China is phenomonal. The lesson of how God turns what to man seems evil into good is prominent throughout this book. I recommend this as reading for all Christians who believe that what we are about is to follow Jesus' command to go forth, make disciples, teaching what Jesus has taught us. I sincerely pray that this book will be printed again.

read and be renewed
This book renewed me more than anything I've read in ten years. God is moving in China!

a touching memoir.......
When I finished reading this book, it made me burst into tears...for such a long time, I've never read a book that was so touching and unforgettable. I love elephants so much and after reading this book. It bring me more courage to boycott those merchants who sell ivory......very impressive work and worthy of reading again and again...

educational and entertaining
I enjoyed this book very much! I learned alot about elephants and their habitat. I feel I got to know the elephants personally from the info and stories that Joyce gave on all of them. I feel this book will give a reader insight on the elephants, lives, loves and servival.

A beautiful glance into the life of a caring person
This is a well-written and wonderfully insightful glance into the lives of elephants. If you are interesting in learning more about the hidden lives of elephants this is the book. Her story was both enthralling and insightful. I salute her for her work in getting the elephant listed on the endangered list; trying to prevent the slide of elephants into possible extinction. I cried when the elephants gave her a welcoming ceremony when she returned from a long departure. Thanks. A must read for all!

Poetic Greatness
The Coming of Dawn is an enlightening collection of original poetry by Rod L. Hollimon. Every poem touches on a different aspect in one's life. Each poem will make you explore your inner psyche and search your soul for deeper understanding. The author has truly tapped into something miraculous at a very young age. He is an inspiration to all that believe they can not overcome their struggles.

"One of a kind"
The Coming Of Dawn was an amazing book. His poems made me appericiate life. His poem are an inspiration to me. I recommend this book to anyone that has been through hard times. He touches a speical part of my heart. I read the book whenever I need to be inspired. Go ahead and buy the book. I promise you will enjoy every page.

Personal Experiences+Personal Feelings= Great Book
The Coming of Dawn is a very interesting collection of poetic thoughts. This young African-American male has truly made his mark of success by incorporating his personal experiences as well as his personal feelings into a book that anyone can relate to and fully identify with. The influences for the Coming of Dawn are experiences and encounters that we have all dealt with in some form or fashion (e.g love, mystery, admiration, sadness, pain, etc.). I have read this book many times as entertainment and I sometimes read certain poems to lift my spirits depending on what I am going through at the time. This is truly a work of perfection to me and I hope that Rod Hollimon will continue to write poetry because he is truly a great poet.

The Coming of Joachim Stiller.

Brilliantly Bewitching, Bewildering & Boldly Belgian!
Hubert Lampo is probably one of the best Belgian (and not Dutch as the New Zealand reviewer mistakenly states) writers, almost all of whose books - some of which were written in the fourties - are still in reprint in Flemish, his language of origin. This magic-realistic story, set against the backdrop of my much beloved magical Antwerp, is a pearl in the crown of Lampo. Nothing is exactly as it seems - and basically this is a New Age novel avant la lettre, were synchronicity, or serendipity, strikes relentlessly. He is a writer who manifestly has been deeply touched by the Seven Muses, whom I even suspect of hiding direct personal mystical experience under his modesty, painting his books beyond-reality with a deep care of humanity, a warm romantic soul with a disarming belief in true love and homerian linguistic virtuosity...This book has been translated in English, Romenian, Swedish, Afrikaans, Polish, Chech and Spanish, and has also been turned into a feature film. I love this author and his entire oeuvre, of which I hope more will be translated into English in the future.
Otherwise you'll simply have to learn Flemish. Good luck!

Dutch magical realism
This Dutch novel by Hubert Lampo was written in the early sixties as a manifestasion of the "magic realism" school. "De komst van Joachim Stiller" is probably the best and most famous of Lampo's novels (e.g. "Terugkeer naar Atlantis"). Within the novel every day occurrences are loaded with magical/supernatural meaning and thus transcend the boundaries of normal significance. Human existenced is thus imbued with new and extra-ordinary frameworks that open up new horizons on human endeavour. A must for any person who aspires to a fuller understanding of the road we travell on.

?
confusing, but yet so logical. There's no way of explaninig the book, you just have to 'know' . It's too easy to measure the worls only comparing to ourselves(humanbeings). There's more than that world. Am not religious or an extreme hippie, but am quite interested in the relativety bteween the now and, let's call it now as well...?...!...?...!...

A must in every gay self-help library
Rob Eichberg's straightforward, simple, writing style paired with his knowledge in this field makes for a book that is a must for every gay self-help library. This book helped me immensely in my own coming out process, and I have recommended it to friends who have benefited from it as well.

A life-changing book.
A gay friend recommended that I read this book because of The Experience workshop. The book integrates exercises from the workshop with many actual letters from people who are coming out. Not only did this book help me understand my friend better, but it has helped me to better understand unconditional love and empowerment. As I told my friend, I love this book so much that I think he should recommend it to ALL his straight friends.

The greatest gift is the gift of one's self.
In being gay, there are certain "shared experiences" most can relate to. The act of "coming out" to family and friends is probably the most apprehensive for most. This "How-to" book relates, through true-life anecdotes, letters, and stories, various methods that have been employed successfully by participants in the author's workshop of the same subject. We found the book to be filled with compassion, understanding, and empathy for those who are coming out, as well as for those to whom the coming out process is directed. If one word were used to describe his understanding and approach to coming out, "keen sensitivity" leaps to mind (ok, that's two words). Dr. Eichberg is aware that the coming out process not only affects the one who comes out, but is also a "coming out" process for those who now are fully included in the life of a gay relative or friend. · He considers coming out an "act of love" to the extent that the homosexual wants to fully include those in his/her life. While some may view "coming out" an act of aggression or rebellion, he convincingly makes the argument that it is actually an appeal for recognition of their basic human dignity and value to society. At many levels, the gay man or woman is seeking not only acceptance, but also approval from the ones they love and respect. He recognizes that one of the most significant mental hurdles to be overcome by those considering coming out is the possibility of rejection While he recognizes this as a distinct possibility (and offers some examples of this negative outcome ... no pun intended), he reinforces the positive aspects of coming out for all involved. · He urges those who come out to make themselves available for help and support as relatives and friends come to grips with the new knowledge of their relationship. He reminds us that, while it may have taken years to come to the decision to come out, relatives and friends will need time and support to process their own emotions (their personal coming out process). He recognizes that they and their emotions are an integral part of the process as well. · Even though coming out is a personal act, the author recognizes the social implications of the collective act. He espouses that as more people come out to relatives and friends, the more "visible" and immediate the gay community, which in turns help increase understanding and hopefully support for gay-related political, social, and legal issues that are currently being debated in society today. We recommend this book as one of many to help those considering coming out as well as a resource for those to whom a relative or friend discloses themselves as gay. We think that the many complex issues involved in such a revelation are discussed in an intelligent and empathetic manner, illustrating that the truth truly is an "act of love".

The Coming Revolution in South Africa (New International, No 5)
Published in Paperback by Pathfinder Press (1991)
Authors: Jack Barnes, Fidel Castro, and Oliver Tambo
Amazon base price: $9.00

What was apartheid? How was it defeated? What next?
The main article in this collection, "The Coming Revolution in South Africa," by Jack Barnes, came out in the mid-1980s. The analysis presented was important as a guide to action for all those involved in the struggle to rid the world of the hated apartheid system in South Africa.

Apartheid was a system that strangled normal capitalist development. A regime that resembled fascism, it treated the mass of the workers and farmers almost as slaves. Instead of a ruling capitalist class pitted against a working class (which is to be expected as a result of normal capitalist development), the apartheid system divided society into a white caste and a non-white caste, with Blacks, the majority of the population, stripped of nearly all democratic rights. The wealthy white elite fought to preserve apartheid because it secured their control over the Black majority, and thus magnified profit rates. But this form of control created explosive social pressures.

In order to advance toward socialism, the working people in South Africa first had to destroy the apartheid structure and allow the pressures of capitalist development to emerge into the open. With the chains of apartheid broken, the masses of working people could then come to grips with a real capitalist system as such.

The 1994 election which brought the African National Congress to power culminated a process of revolutionary change that was critical to all further development in South Africa and its neighboring countries. It opened the door to a new period of class struggle, preparing the workers in South Africa to participate, on an equal footing with workers in all countries, to build a new world free of capitalist war and depression.

Revolution to come
Though published in 1985, nine years before the victory of the African National Congress against Apartheid, the main article in this book-length magazine Jack Barnes's "The Coming Revolution in South Africa," forecasts the way forward for the democratic revolution in South Africa and shows how the roots of a future socialist revolution in South Africa flow out of that struggle. Barnes, the national secretary of the Socialist Workers Party, explains why the democratic tasks of national liberation and unification advanced by the ANC and its allies were the correct way forward for the peoples of South Africa. With examples from the policies of Lenin and the Russian Bolsheviks and the Cuba and Nicaraguan revolutions, Barnes takes on sectarians who attacked the ANC because it did not have an explicitly anticapitalist program. Along with Barnes' speech, this issue contains "The Freedom Charter"--the political program the ANC advanced in the antiapartheid struggle -- "The Future Belongs to US" a Speech by ANC leader Oliver Tambo, a speech by Fidel Castro explaining why and how Cuba supported the freedom struggle in Angola, and a summary of the then latest stages in the South African struggle by Ernest Harsch.

Coming to Power: Writings and Graphics on Lesbian S/M

A classic
If you are kinky, male or female, straight, bi or gay, and you don't have this book, you need to get it. Written as a storm was raging about feminism, SM, and being lesbian, this offers honest and explicite discussions of how lesbian SM worked. There's advice on how-to do some activities, discussions of the politics of SM, and also some very in your face theory about being kinky and defining relationships. Its a book I've read several times. It is very short, mind you, but so worth the price to get your hands on articles you just can't find any more.

the classic that launched the leatherdyke movement
An absolute MUST READ for all BDSM'rs of any orientation

coming to power is an excellent read
This book will educate the novice S/M practioner and delight all, combining fiction with intellectual dialogue. It is an informative look inside the heads of S/M practitioners and a delightful collection of fiction. It is truly a classic

Coming to Terms With Acting

Straight to the point
Forget the emotional posing and the masturbatory use of the "method" in today's actors and acting teachers. Doug gets right to the point and gives you the raw, essential tools provided by the Stanislavski/Strasburg Method. Stop letting the "feelings" of attention-seeking actors confuse you. Great tools are to be found in this book.

This Is the Actor's Bible!!!
I have heard so much about this book. Well, now I finally got it and I am mad that I waited so long. Every time I pick it up I learn something from it. I re-read it all the time. I am learning sense memory in my acting class and I use the book and my teacher say "great!" but I know I got it from the book. I love that it's so clear. That is awesome. So far I have bought 3 of them, 1 for me and 2 for presents. This is a must have book.

Clear, Concise and Funny
A student from Yale had this book and that made me curious so I bought it. I have studied with some really good acting teachers but this book has made an incredible difference in my understanding of the craft of acting. Professor Moston's discussion of issues like sense memory, collusion, objectives, character and other Method and non-Method acting styles are really wonderful. I don't think anyone can learn acting from a book, but if you could, this would be the book to do it. I like how Moston gives you a fast answer and then, if you want to learn more, you can read the entry and get where the term came from, how it came about, and what's really great, how to use the idea in your acting. Also, I carry it in my backpack and I've even used it to settle arguements. Check it out!

The Couple's Wedding Survival Manual: How To Tie The Knot Without Coming Unraveled
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (1999)
Author: Michael Perry
Amazon base price: $14.00
Average review score:

Keeps things in perspective
I will be married in six months, and I was getting tired of looking at all of the wedding books available that dealt with the nitty gritty of planning, picking out flowers, sites, photographers, etc. This book is wonderfully refreshing to read, as it reminds the reader not to become too bogged down with the 'show' of a wedding and remember why a couple should get married in the first place. The delightfully sarcastic humor is just what a harried bride and groom need.

Highly Recommended - Funny and Helpful
I really liked this book. In fact, I read it twice because it was so fun to read. And most wedding books are not particularly fun, either. The Wedding Survival Guide was great for keeping perspective and a sense of humor at a time when things are getting a bit overwhelming and it has a lot of extremely helpful information - which I actually read and retained because the book was so engaging. The photos and their captions are especially amusing, too.

A must-have book for all Engaged Couples!
This book tells everything you need to know in an easy to read, hilarious format. Unlike other wedding books that tend to take themselves too seriously, this book gets the pertinent information across in a manner that makes you WANT to read it.

My fiance particularly liked the section on ring buying.

Perry keeps the focus on WHY you are getting married, to be together forever. He downplays the keeping up with the Jones which is so prevelant in marriages these days. However, if you want to go all out, he'll tell you who, traditionally, pays for what!

A must have book!
