Best Book on Eating Disorders I Ever Read
I have done extensive reading of books in the field of eating disorders and I have never read one as good as this one. Ms. Cohen's writing style is clarity itself. She helps you to tailor make a solution for your own particular eating problem. She does not preach a single, magic solution that will automatically work for everyone. "Each person's eating disorder is as unique as a fingerprint," she says at one point. She is compassionate and recounts marvellous stories from her extensive experience in the field of eating disorders to help readers gain insights into their own individual problem. She helps you become friends with food rather than treating food as the enemy. I give the highest recommendation to this book.

Great Book!
I loved it! Couldn't put it down! Had to read it in one day

You have to read this book.
Ms Fuller is a upstart writer with all the gifts of a seasoned Pro. She takes you out to the limit of anxiousness and slowly brings you back. Just when you feel you can relax she writes another twist into the story and the tension comes back to grab you. Don't read this one while your alone. Suspenseful, thrilling. 'Gesture of Chivalry' a Fine work. ENJOY.

Excellent Book
As a parent of an Autistic child, I purchased this book when my son was first diagnosed. It has a wealth of information and helped me better understand the few treatments available and the state of research on the disorder. It is a technical book, and not for all parents, but it is dog-eared in many sections from my use. I hope there is an update in the near future.

A definitive reference book
Neither cheap nor a light read, but just what it says - a definitive summary of the state-of-the-art in knowledge about autism and the other pervasive developmental disorders. Everything you need to know is in here.

Aimed at Professionals; Great for Parents, Too
Second book I read when trying to figure out whether my son had autism/PDD. Not for the parent who is faint of heart, but excellent, balanced, and objective resource for the parent who wants a deeper understanding of the research literature. Depending on your educational background, some chapters may be incomprehensible (e.g., the chapter on neurochemicals), but almost all are accessible to the well-educated and attentive layperson.

A great book
When war breaks out, and her father is mobilized, young Tirza Eircelly watches as her mother must prepare the demesne for the tribulations that war will surely bring to it. Her mother is a bastion of calm and wisdom in the dark days, keeping everyone moving forward while others lose their heads. Tirza learns to help her mother, and be the woman that her times require.

Although there are no wizards or exploding fireballs, this is a magical tale, a tale of a gentle magic, the sort that comes from within. This is a very touching story. Lady Talarrie is drawn as a formidable woman, a woman of courage and compassion, of action and wisdom. Though it might sound cliché, I don't believe that you can read this story without falling in love with it. This is a great book, one that I recommend to everyone!

Enchanting - A Great Read for All Ages!!!
I borrowed this book from the library and read it in a single day! It is well written and enchanting. The characters are charming and you will enjoy reading about their lives. It also gives a good picture of everyday life in the medieval time period. My daughter (11) is now reading it.

Great for a short story collection
So far, she has done three of these little books and I have loved all of them. I think that she should compile a book of all these stories when she's gotten a few more. I know that I'd definetely buy it.

Beautiful Gift Book, Full of the Riches of God
This book is one of the most beautiful gift books...great for any household coffee table. More than that, it is full of the beauty and riches of God and how He works in the lives of His children. The author's personal experience growing up on a Vineyard gives him the expertise to help the reader understand the spritutal aspects through the explanation of the practical. It is most definitely one of my favorites and a great gift to give to anyone...whether a believer or not. For the believer it will enrich and enhance his/her walk with God. For the unbeliever it will give a glimps of the God who loves him/her.

Insight.
I absolutely love this book. I don't read a lot, but this is a book that I belive will help people who want to, to understand more about the Lord Jesus Christ and The Father in the role of Vinedresser... It is wonderful.

The vine must be carefully tended in order to bear fruit...
The message in this book touched my heart, If you struggle to understand God's perfect plan read this book. The analogies are so beautifully illustrated. You will know how beloved you are by our Father, and how carefully He tends to us, throughout the stages of our spiritual growth. We need tending in order to bear fruit!

A great read!
"This book, The Leap Years: Women Reflect on Change,Loss, and Love,"by Joan Shaddox Isom and Mary Anne Maier is by turns, funny and sad. Almost all the stories are well-written, but easy to read, and everyone is different. It really made me think about the kinds of events and experiences that change our lives. I would certainly recommend it.

A Treasure
What a wonderful book! There is a story in there which will touch any woman (or man) from any background in so many ways. I am of an age where I was touched in particular by two themes - aging/dying parents and menapause. Joan Halperns story of her mother's battle with cancer, was my mother's story ten years ago. Joan Isom was talking about her mother, but my grandmother will be 100 this year, and I know the feeling of not wanting to leave her to the night. And I definitely related to Tricia Lande's "menapausal madness", but I am waiting impatiently for Elayne Clift's "postmenapausal zest"! This book is a treasure!

Reader's joy
It is a reader's joy to find so many talented women writers speaking from their hearts in one book, about life's deeply personal moments. "The Leap Years" brought tears and smiles. I recommend it highly.

throw away your posters...
I first saw this chart on my Greek professor's wall and was stunned by it. So much information, and very clear diagrams indicating the relationships of all the gods. This is a must for any mythology enthusiast.

Word Ninja

Truly wonderful and informative
I was not disappointed by this wallchart in the least. It has so much information, and really presents the relationships among gods, humans and other beings very well. These relationships are so intertwined and tangled that I doubted whether they could be clearly presented. This chart does. (Now if only the type were just a little larger.)

A Terrific Reference Chart for Everyone
This enormous Wall Chart is a "Must Have" for any scholar of classical literature and mythology, as well as anyone who just loves reading Classical Myths and stories of the Ancient Greeks and Romans. The artwork is superb, as are the detailed references and "nexi" that are drawn between the various figures of Classical Mythology--both famous and not so well known! The visual impact of this Wall Chart allows one to understand that complex system of mythology and beliefs that described the world of the Ancients. This is the best Wall Chart of any kind that has been created on any subject both Ancient and Modern. If you wish to hang it in an open space, just ensure that you have a suitable and sizable wall on which to place this wonderful chart.

Packed with rich encounters with other cultures
At the height of the Cold War Vernon Johnson decided to take a trip around the world - with his wife and eight children. Home Is Where The Bus Is is Anne's autobiography of that experience, packed with rich encounters with other cultures and a journey filled with adventures and unique experiences. Armchair travelers will delight in the stories.

My Dog Gone Got Rickets!
A really cool book and in these days of modern times I can think of no better way, other than flying one's flag 24 hours a day, to kick "Mister Osama Yo' Mama" right in his little be-turbaned rag-headed behind other than buying Ms. Johnson's bejeweled, glimmering memoir/slash/travelogue, plus its not as much as a downer as Conrad's "Heart of Darkness", at least there's no half-insane Kurtz waiting at the end of the bus trip, unless I smoked a bit too much hash and missed a coupla' chapters so far. There is only 2 great travel books about buses. There's "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test", there's "Magical Mystery Tour" (I know, not really a book, well excuuuussee mmeee!) and now there's a 3rd! "Home is Where the Bus is!" You Go Girl! 5 Big stars!

And to think, I used to be against busing!
This book is wonderful. Remember that old Coke commercial - the one with people singing on the hillside "I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony...?" Remember when you first heard it and it felt possible and warm, not corny or ridiculous?
This book feels like a refrain from that jingle, like all we need to give peace a chance is to send out a family like the ten Johnsons on another goodwill bus tour...

The author should know that the only criticism possible is that the covers of her book are too close together!

The Last Seven Months of Anne Frank

Anne Frank the Girl the Legend
After reading Anne Frank the Last Seven Months, I relized how difficult it was for the jews and for any person during this time. I like this book a lot and I recommond reading it if possible. This book makes you feel like you new exactly how that person was feeling. It put you inside the stories the people told. It was a sad story to read because of all the people that died of other peoples differences. That the samething happen to every person that was a 'jew" that the story didn't change. People were hiding out of years before they were sent off to a death camp. They lived in fear of the next day hoping that the Green Police weren't find them. Once they were found they didn't know if they would live to see there family again. The Nazis killed so many people and so many people got disease and got sick. Everyday more love ones were dying and if you were lucky you could be with them as they die as for some was sent to different death camps, you had no idea if you wife, husband, son, daughter, or best friend since were in third grade had died.

These women are the definition of courage
This is one of the best books I have ever read. A must read for all ages. These ladies are some of the most courageous people in the world. They perserved knowing that their demise could be any day. But living was too important to them so they dug deep within themselves to keep their spirit alive and they succeeded. Hooray for them!!! Miep Gies is also a very courageous person. She is right up there with these ladies. "Anne Frank Remembered" by Miep Gies and Alison Leslie Gold is also a wonderful book. If you are looking for excellent reading and a time frame for the life of Anne Frank, then by all means read this book. I don't know if I could handle the pressures that these ladies went through to live, and I hope that I never have to endure their suffering, but if I do, I will take these 7 women with me and draw on their strengths and spirit to keep me alive.

Get it!
I read Anne Frank's diary again during my first trip to Amsterdam recently to prepare myself to a visit to the Secret Annex. But the book (and the corny Hollywood adaptation) left me wondering what happened to her after the diary. This book about her last seven months at the concentration camps gives a clear picture of what Anne's life was like through the accounts of the women who encountered her there. I could not put this book down and would sleep at 4 in the morning, read it in bed, in the bathroom, in the car, sometimes it would leave me crying. I am not Jewish and I am only in my 30s but this book touched me a lot (just like Schindler's List) and left me wanting to know more.

Fascinating detective story
It is remarkable how much the authors and forensic anthropologists manage to induce from one partial body found in a bog. I found their speculations generally very persuasive, and the writing is very good.

My only quibble is that, as other reviewers have mentioned, the last 1/3 of the book the authors lose their narrow focus and go off on all sorts of speculation involving the druids in general - that part isn't nearly as interesting.

If you like this book, the closest analaogy I can recommend is to books describing how much information archaelogists have wrung out of Lucy, the Nariokotome (sp?) boy, etc. - this book reminded me of those.

A brilliant telling of a historical mystery
This book stands out in my memory as one of the best popular books ever written on an academic topic. The tale of the of Lindow Man- a body found in a peat bog- unfolds like a great mystery tale, and yet every bit of it is firmly rooted in fact. The story begins with the discovery of the body, and progresses through not only the investogation of the body itself, but through the discovery and reconstruction of ancient Celtic legends, the later British legends that derive from them, and finally their relation to the rituals that spelled the death of the man in the bog. The result is a tale far more exciting than anything you'd find in any fantasy or mystery novel.

Towords the end of the book, the authors get a bit speculative, but they're up front about this, and careful to seperate what's known from what is more conjectural. The authors' scientific training shows in the care they take to make the distinction clear.

Why this book went out of print when so many purely speculative books that aren't have as thrilling is certainly a mystery to me. If you have any interest in Celtic or Druid history, or in British legends, or in cultural and phsyical anthropology, get this book. If it doesn't go back into print soon, chase down a used copy. It's that good.

Best 'Mystery' ever!
I bought this book in a bargain basement when it was firstpublished. Since then I have read it several times, and it stillremains fascinating. The story unfolds after finding a brutally murdered 'corpse' in a bog and evolves into an enlightening glimpse of society in pre Roman Britain. Even though this is an archaeological story, this book covers so many fields of interest, I would recommend it to virtually anyone. A must read! END
