Absolute Certainty is a Gem of a Crime Novel!
Absolute Certainty by Rose Connors is a gem of a crime novel.
It is well written, fast paced and you really feel you know the characters by the end of the book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. The identity of the killer was an incredible surprise. I recommended this book highly and can't wait to read more about Marty Nickerson's adventures in Rose Connors' next book!

absolutely fantastic legal thriller
The assistant district attorney for Barnstable County on Cape Cod believes heart and soul that Manuel Rodriguez is guilty of murdering Michael Scott, a bright college student with his whole future ahead of him. She is so convincing that a jury eventually finds Manuel guilty of murder in the first degree.

One year after Michael's death on Memorial Day, a second person is murdered, a nineteen-Navy man home on leave. A roman numeral II is carved on his chest just as the number I was carved on Michael's chest. Assistant DA Marty Nickerson thinks the same killer murdered both men, but her superiors dismiss her concerns until a third person is murdered and the Roman numeral III is carved on his client. Marty knows she must do something to trap the serial killer before anyone else gets killed.

ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY is an absolutely fantastic legal thriller. Readers get an up close and personal look at the judicial system as seen through the eyes of the protagonist, a woman who goes from being an idealistic to a cynic over the course of the novel. The perpetrator is hiding in plain sight but readers won't be able to recognize the essence of evil hiding behind a well-liked and respected person. Rose Connors is clearly a gifted storyteller.

This is a must read book...Excellent....I can't wait for more from this author.

Roses and Thorns: A Poetic Pride and Prejudice
Published in Paperback by Chicken Soup Pr (25 November, 1999)

Lovely sonnets
This is a delightful collection of thoughts and passions written by the characters in Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The sonnets are interspersed with free verse, some of it humorous. Ms. Goodman can certainly write beautiful sonnets and you come away from reading the poetry with a feeling that you've been transported back in time to Austen's world once again.

Poetry at its best
I couldn't wait for Roses and Thorns to be listed on amazon.com so I could let others know how good the poetry is. Selene Goodman writes beautiful sonnets, all the more delightful because they're about the characters from Pride and Prejudice. I recommend this little book to all.

Sonnets Are Hard To Write!
But Selene Goodman has a fine touch and an ear for the sonnet form. Interspersed are lines taken directly from the text, which support the idea of each sonnet. The entire book is nicely laid out and pleasing to read. The poetry is lyrical and quite beautiful, capturing the nuances of each Pride and Prejudice character, from Darcy and Elizabeth, to flirtatious Lydia, carping Mrs. Bennet and the over-bearing and pompous Mr. Collins. We even have the thoughts of poor, long-suffering Mr. Bennet.

Selene Goodman has done a beautiful job with this little book and I'd recommend it to all!

Roses after the sudden horrible loss of our 17 year old son
We too experienced a sudden loss when our son was killed. As a man came through the line @ calling hours, he handed me this book, as I read it, it seemed as though I was reliving Marylin's life some 20 years later. My experiences were so paralell it was unbeliveable. This book has given me some peace,at a time when I thought peace would never come again. Our loss is still so overwhelming that sometimes it's hard to even breathe, but I think of Roses in December, and I know someday the grief won't be what directs my life. I just need to experience all of the roses.

Roses in December
This book was written by Marilyn Willett Heavilin. Suffering the loss of a child is hard for anyone to imagine. Marilyn and her husband Glen suffered the loss of not one child, but three of their children. Marilyn journaled the story of her strugles, grief, despair, hopes, and blessings. She has covered just about every topic I can think of.

I have said all along that we didn't loose our son David for no reason. God wanted us to learn from it and wanted to make us better people. Well, I can see that is exactly what happened with the Heavilin Family. Their heartache would make anyone want to just stay in their house and never come out. But, with help of their friends, prayers, and eachother, Marilyn and Glen took what they learned from their tragedies and has devoted their lives to helping others who are greiving the loss of a child.

If you only read one book during your grief process, this is the book you should buy.

Healing and reassurance
My father died over ten years ago now, and when a friend suggested that I read this book, my first thought was, "how can anyone else possibly understand what I am feeling?" But I have never forgotten how much Marilyn Heavilin's book helped me. I thought my grief was making me feel things no one else had ever felt or thought, and of course this was not true. I understood my own feelings better after reading this book. It gave me hope and reassurance to know that things WILL get better and others can share the burden. I also learned how to do things to help my mother and siblings cope with the loss, too. Bless you, Marilyin Heavilin!

Very Touching Love Story
I recently finished reading Solomon's Porch and found it to be a beautifully written love story. Ben and Rose are a devoted couple through some very difficult times. Ben suffers from Guillain-Barre Syndrome and the love and care that he receives from his wife Rose is inspirational. The story is not told as a self-pity book, but rather told through the eyes of love while holding on to a sense of humor.

Caring for an ill loved one is a very traumatic experience. Trying to hold on to a sense of normalacy is difficult indeed. I would highly recommend this book for anyone that is interested in reading a story of adversity, hope, and love.

Solomon's Porch: The Story of Ben and Rose by Jane Riley
Ben and Rose face a long and trying battle with Ben's Guillan-Barre Syndrome. Jane Riley's sensitive yet constrained writing style reveal the strength and foibles of the characters, health care institutions and churches with no rancor. It is a book that I was not able to put down.

A book of pure devotion and inspiration!!!
The story of Ben and Rose in SOLOMON'S PORCH touches my heart deeply. This book is a riviting story of overcoming adversity and shows pure devotion and love enduring through trying times. I have never read a book that helps me see things through the eyes of the "care-giver," which puts quite a different "twist" on this wonderful book. The characters were "brought to life" as I read each page. Although the story is fictional, it is inspiring and educational, and I might add that it taught me many things I had never known about Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I smiled and I cried through-out the reading of this book. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to read it.

a wonderful and memorable children's book
The first time I read this book was while I was in second grade. It was one of my favorite books to read. Today I am now getting ready to finish my associate's degree at the University of South Carolina and still give this book my highest regards. It is a wonderful book that encourages the thoughts and feelings of all young children, and will most definitely create a lasting effect.

My favorite book as a child
As a kid, I loved this book dearly. My father read it to me so many times, that when I was in college he could still repeat long passages of it from memory. Everyone I know who has children has received this as a present from me soomer or later. I highly recommend it.

Robert The Rose Horse
I found this book among the books my parents had for me when I was a child and quickly ordered my daughter her own copy. My 2 year old daughter loves this book. I have read it to her about a million times and is already helping me read it. Great for older kids as well.

This is a wonderful series
I am currently reading these books to my daughter who just turned five. We are both really enjoying them. I know the recommended age is seven and up but these books are great even before then but be prepared to discuss it also. My daughter can't wait to find out what Addy is going to do next. I think that these books are a great foundation for young girls. It can help them understand history as well as know that they can make a difference in the world no matter how small they are. We are working our way through the different American Girl series but I definately recommend the Addy books to everyone young and old. I think the history section at the end of each book is fabulous and really puts it in language a child can understand. It also helps that they relate the history to Addy since she is someone your child "knows" after reading the books.

Meet Addy
I like this book because it is fun and easy to read. It only has
69 pages and a lot of good pictures. Addy is an American girl who
is a slave and wants to be free. At the end of the book she was
free. I was happy for her.

NICE BOXED SET!!!!!!!!!
I liked the Addy books a lot when I was younger, and got the hardcover boxed set for Christmas. Addy is one of the better American Girls in the American Girls Collection, and her books should be a recommended read.

Great Stories for Anyone Interested in Synchronicity
I really enjoyed this book. Patricia Rose Upczak led me through many personal synchronistic stories that I could relate to my own life. I learned a lot about how to focus my life to create synchronicity. I love the pages in the back to use to make my own synchronicity journal. I wish there were more! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is trying to get in touch with their own synchronicities in their life. It guided me to places I had forgotten existed. MANY THANKS to Ms. Upczak.

Leanring to Pay Attention
Patricia Rose Upczak's delightful book about synchronicity proves that when we pay attention to the world around us, we will begin to see the everyday miracles that occur in all our lives. The stories she relates with such a deft hand remind us that we all have the innate ability to recognize and undestand signs. She guides us back to a time when animals and plants were our guides to a deeper spiritual understanding and suggests that we can reclaim this ancient heritage. She includes a very helpful Signs and Symbols Dictionary. This is a wonderful book for all who would hear the whispers of the universe and follow the signs.
I highly recommend it.

Synchronicity is Super!
I'm naturally a doubter. However, after reading Ms. Upczak's book, I'm doubting my own skepticism. She skillfully pulls in the ancient philosophers as well as modern experiences from people in all walks of life.
The list of animals and their meanings surprised me. I had recently seen a blue heron five days in a row in my creek, then had a mother turtle lay and bury her eggs in my garden. The book helped bring home the fact that we are a part of nature and the universe. Way to go, Patricia Rose!
The book is next to my reading chair and is used as a reference. Sometimes, when I need to sooth the savage soul within me, I re-read parts of it. It's difficult to be lonely when one is a piece of the whole.
Don't be fooled by the easy reading style -- every sentence is packed with useful information.

WONDERFUL SPRINGBOARD FOR SELF STUDY AND CONVERSATION
TEN YEARS AGO ROSE'S ORIGINAL FACE READING BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME. MY HUSBAND AND I TOOK IT ON VACATION TO A CAMPOUT WITH SOME FAMILY MEMBERS. WE TOOK TURNS READING SECTIONS AND LOOKING AT EACH OTHER CLOSELY . WE HAD SO MUCH FUN LOOKING AT AND DISCUSSING FEATURES THAT WE BEGAN TO SHARE IN MORE PERSONAL AND MEANINGFUL CONVERSATIONS. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOUR BOOK FOR YEARS. THIS BOOK WOULD BE ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR INITIATING CONVERSATIONS WITH TEENAGERS WHO ARE SO VERY AWARE OF THEIR LOOKS AND LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THEMSELVES . THANK YOU, ROSE FOR THE NEW EDITION AND THE PROMPT REPLY WHEN I ORDERED SEVERAL MORE COPIES.

Insightful approach to the age old art of face reading
As a physiognomist (face reader) I read every book I can find on face reading, but nothing I have seen comes close to The Power of Face Reading, except, perhaps, Rosetree's previous book, I Can Read Your Face.

Based on the premise that "God Don't Make No Junk," Roestree's insightful, humorous, lively and, above all, loving, system of face reading is a welcome and refreshing approach to a subject so often treated in a negative and judgmental fashion.

The Power of Face Reading offers an easy to learn, invaluable tool for men and women desiring to know and appreciate one another, for salespeople trying to meet the needs of their customers, for parents and teachers wishing to understand and communicate effectively with children and teenagers discovering who they are and want to be - in other words, for everyone.

I just couldn't put this book down!
This book was so much fun to read! Rose is an insightful and delightful author. She is a great "wordsmith, making this a book that is enjoyable to read not only the first time, but to refer to time and time again. I've purchased several books as gifts to family and friends, and even as door prizes to several organizations I belong to. I would recommend it to anyone!

Rose Blanche

Powerful and quietly moving
This beautiful picture book will help make the Holocaust accessible to very young readers. Rose Blanche is a deeply moving story that will affect nearly all who read it. The detailed illustrations are drawn from a perspective that gives the reader a sense of security whilst offering a vivid view of the fate of others not so secure. Because this story is an allegory, it can be appreciated by readers of many ages. On one level, this is simply the story of one girl, Rose Blanche, finding out for herself what is happening to her countrymen and trying to help. On another level, Rose Blanche stands for all who helped the Jews, even though to do so meant certain death for the rescuers. This quiet book inspires courage.

Wow!! This Picture book works....
Wow!! This picture book works on so many different levels. I just read it to my 23 sixth graders. Very powerful stuff. As an introduction to the Holocaust, I'd rank this book # 1...it will evoke a boatload of questions amongst your readers (and listeners!). Excellent writing craft to study!! The unfolding of the story will make readers predict and predict. "I wonder..." questions will surface at the end of this book..."What really happened to Rose Blanche?" framed a long, rich discussion in our class!...
Buy it, read it, buy one for a friend!!
Frank Murphy

This book is a must for all teachers !!!
I was first read this book in a drama class for teachers in training. I have never seen so many people cry at once. This book has the potential to be used in so many ways in the classroom, as it touches peoples hearts. Both children and adults can see the world through Rose's German eyes (a view not often portrayed in allied history), and explore the deeper meanings in both the text and the beautiful illustrations. The more you look at the pictures, the more you can see. If any teacher needs a book to study the second world war, I recomend Rose Blanche.
