Women are leaders of the future
"Liberate the Leader" by Claudia Rose celebrates the possibilities of leadeship by women. Since I believe that women are wired better than men for leading roles that require compassion, collaboration and advocacy for a cause, I see this as a most important book. I have known Dr. Rose as a student and later as a colleague of mine, and consider her to be an outstanding thinker and writer who is also a person of action. This book is a must for women interested in leadership and for men intrested in unerstanding them well.

So many women get in the way of their own success
Dr. Rose gives women the courage to lead in the same way that Suze Orman gives women the "courage to be rich." The best part of this book is that it has very insightful activities like journaling and writing a commitment statement. If YOU dedicate a few weeks of your time to working through Liberate the Leader and completing all the recommended exercises, you will be able to do ANYTHING. This book is required for any woman who has a bigger dream for her life!

Essential reading for women.
Dr. Claudia, thank you so much for writing this book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it this weekend, and was encouraged to spend some reflecting on its lessons and their application in my life. What a useful set of tools you have created for women!

An Excellent Resource That Does Not Bore You To Tears
When I ordered the Encyclopedia, I resigned myself to slugging through mountains of information and end up "What did that say again?"

Well, I am pleased to say that there was the mountain of information and more often than not I knew what it was saying. The definitions in were to the point, crisp and relevant to the times. Rev. P. Stravinskas had the insight to include information an ordinary Catholic needed at 7PM Sunday in a mad rush to complete an assignment.

Where the encyclopedia lost me were in some definitions that were necessarily lengthy. Obviously, some white space could have saved me time in re-reading the whole passage. But, with the value of the information included, I believe the Encyclopedia is an excellent resource for those of us who are not scholars in the catechism of the Catholic Church.

A resource for those of us who are not theologians!
Those who know Fr. Stravinskas know that he likes to keep things short and to the point, so that the average person can understand what he's teaching without getting lost in detail. On another note, Our Sunday Visitor has a reputation for printing only the best quality of Catholic books. This collaboration brings out the best traits of both.

It is faithful to the Church's basic teaching since the Second Vatican Council, it fits into one large volume using a print size that will not strain your eyes, it is wonderfully organized to cover a wide variety of topics relevant to the Catholic faith, and its entries are informative while being written at a level the average Catholic can understand.

For these reasons, this is simply one of the best modern Catholic Encyclopedias on the market. Every Catholic family and college student who is interested in their faith should own one.

Wonderful, Orthodox, Trustworthy
If you want to know what the Catholic Church teaches this is a great reference book. Father Stravinskas teaches what the Church teaches, and not just his own personal opinion. I'd recommend anything he wrote. It's wonderful to know you won't be misled. Nice book for dipping into, too!

Bipartisan Historical Pictorial Dog Book
"Name That Dog" is a bipartisan dog book [coffee table size] that showcases your favorite presidents, whether Democrat or Republican, with their canine companions. This book is replete with historical photographs [black & white] dating back to Rutherford B. Hayes [1897] with his favorite spaniel, "Dot." Also included are celebrity dogs [Bob Hope with "My dog", Joan Rivers with "Spike," Phyliss Diller with "Phearless"] and many others ...

If you like dogs and history, this book makes a great gift item!

Need more info
I'd like to buy this book but first would like more information about it such as which celebrities and other people are in it. Thanks to anyone who answers my question. It appears to be a very good book.

Exceptional Photography
I loved it! This is a book worth ordering, especially if you're appreciative of nostalgic photography. The photos in this book are priceless.

Fast-paced, captivating story!
Heidi Betts outdoes her wonderful first book, Cinnamon and Roses, with her second, A Promise of Roses.

The fast pace, dramatic action and witty dialogue, combined with a heroine you can't resist rooting for and hero you'll fall in love with, makes this a great read. Heidi will make you laugh as you race along to the conclusion of this novel. Sensual love scenes provide dynamic sizzle.

A must read for lovers of romances set in the historical American west! (Or lovers of any romances, for that matter.)

Hold on to your seats!
Heidi takes you on a wild, fun and sexy ride with her latest, A PROMISE OF ROSES. And she just keeps getting better!

I fell in love with this book for many reasons, one being the feisty heroine, Megan, and the downright sexy hero, Lucas. The sparks fly between Megan and Lucas like no forth of July I've ever seen.

Determined to keep her stage line afloat Megan has not choice but to take a run when her driver refuses to risk his life, fearing they'll be robbed again, an all to common occurrence since they've been transporting railroad payroll. Megan gets more than she bargains for though when she's taken hostage during her run and finds herself attracted to one of the robbers. Little does she know Lucas is undercover for the railroad and suspects her of being the mastermind behind the holdups. She soon finds out though when Lucas abducts her in the night and reveals his plans to take her in to stand trial. What he doesn't count on though is the intense attraction he feels for Megan and the headstrong, feisty, hellion he's taken into custody. It doesn't take long to figure out he has his hands full, in more ways than one! LOL

This is a must read! Wild, crazy, funny, hot, steamy, exciting and playful are only a few words to describe this book. Don't miss it! Heidi is a wonderful storyteller who mixes a great story, lusty scenes, and characters you bond with and can't help but love.

Great book!!
Heidi's done it again! Her sequel to Cinnamon & Roses is just as wonderful. Well developed characters that you can't help but love, and a romance that makes you sigh. I can't describe how much I enjoy reading Heidi's books!

A gem!
In a world full of hate, violence, and selfishness, this book helps us remember each other in the best of ways. It helped found the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation and is responsible of Random Acts of Kindness week. The publishers at Conari Press have truly created a timeless work of inspiration and beauty. Go out and commit a random act of kindness yourself!

It was inspiring and warm
I listened to this book on tape on my morning walk. I've listened to it many times and it always starts my day off with a positive feeling. It inspired me to do kind things for people - like giving 10 hamburgers to a homeless man with my son. He told his class and many children went out that week and did more kind things so that they could share their kind acts with the class. It had a great ripple effect.

This book has created a revolution in thinking & lifestyle.
Random Acts of Kindness got me thinking more deeply about my actions and how I influence young people. It inspired me to write a children's book, THE KING OF KINDNESS.

A Rose Beneath the Thorns
A HARD TO PUT DOWN BOOK. From wanting to see what could happen next, to what else could happen to this poor woman. This woman that went thru so much & never gave up looking for happiness. I'm glad to see another cycle of abuse was broken. Her children are successful & the struggle to make it is not as tough for them, thanks to her endurance. It must have taken a lot to relive all of this & share her life with us, Thank you for that. I know that we are never alone it is good to see I am not alone in this belief. I look forward to more from Rose, you left me wondering.

Gripping
I couldn't put the book down. This is an american story of the struggle that so many single mothers have endured. Abusive relationships can blossom into happy endings. People love to blame their present day problems on their upbringing. Witness the true to life drama of an american family that does not allow the past horrors dictate their future. You won't want to put this book down...

If you want true inspiration, this is definitely the book!
This book could not have a more appropriate title. I wish every woman who feels she's had a hard life, or been dealt a bad hand, etc. would read this. Rosie Hodges is living proof that adversity can be overcome and your life is what you make of it, together with God.

Timeless, Simple, Powerful
As a first-time author of a non-fiction book
myself, I was starting to doubt my own
ideas and plans as a writer. Then this simple,
bright little book popped out at me.

This is not a "how-to" kind of book. This is
more of a "why-have-you-waited-so-long?" book.
It's a little friend who always loves and
believes in you! And who the heck doesn't
need that?

And hey... that metallic-winged guy on the
cover is irrestible! (I guess you could tell
that I really loved this book.)

How to have the happy life you deserve
This reader-friendly goal-setting and achieving book really delivers... Get Happy NOW !

A little shining gem !
I loved this book. I got a lot out of it. I wish I had read a book like this one when I was growing up : maybe I would've had a happier life. Every line is a word of wisdom and should be read and reread : a wonderful reminder about the important things in life. I've read it many many times. Shared it with so many many friends. I highly recommend this book to everyone - young and old. A great little gift.

Los Secretos De Las Obras De Arte/What Great Paintings Say: UN Estudio Detallado/Old Masters in Detail
Published in Hardcover by TASCHEN America Llc (2002)
Authors: Hagen Rainer and Rose-Marie Hagen
Amazon base price: $40.00
Average review score:

Beautiful, with one fatal flaw...
This book is a beautiful edition, and serves the purpose of explaining sybolism in art quite nicely. There is, though, one flaw: Most of the large color plates are spread across the spine of the book. This is not a problem for most, but as an art student, studying the paintings with 15% lost in the spine is a problem.

Very Clear and Informative Book
I bought this book hoping that it will explain to me why some painters are so highly regarded and other copy caps are not. Book basically goes over mostly Renocence pictures and tell the story behind each painting either what it depicts in terms of symbolism or history behind it or resons and financing behind it. It is a combination History book and paintings. It tells yo that for example Boticelli's Birth of Venus is first in Ronecance for nudity but it does not tell me why her feet is crooked, why anybody else who probably did similar paintings at the same time did not get this much fame. That is what I was looking and could not find. Still looking for the right book but this book by itself is very good for the purpose of its design.

Great paintings is a great book....
I received this book as a gift from a friend. The pictures are superb, the paper is a nice heavy stock, and the text is interesting and at times humorous.

So many times we look at a painting, but we really do not see what the artist is telling us. This book will show wonderful detailed areas of the painting for close scruntity. The pages are large so it is easier to see the paintings in detail.

Whether you are an artist who paints, or have an enjoyment of the arts, you will be extremely pleased with this book.

Finally, technology book for both M.D.'s and mgrs.
Dr. Rose accomplishes in this book exactly what he set out to do and does so in an innovative and creative way. He closes the language gap by deftly explaining the "techno terms" and uses examples that clinicians as well as health care managers can understand. He also explains the human factors and barriers involved in information technology and demonstrates the history of these with the creative use of a medical case history. It is a rich blend of insights into clinical and organizational decisionmaking related to technology and information systems applications - their pitfalls and their successes. As a professor teaching a class in technical applications of information systems in health care, I highly recommend this book as a supplement to current texts. It offers a unique perspective to the world of information systems in health care.

An insightful book about technology for health professionals
Dr. Rose provides health professionals with the insight needed to function in a technologically complex healtcare environment. This is a must-read book for health care professionals who are impacted by automation and technology. It is also a great book for IT professionals to read in order to gain insight into the typical reactions they receive from physicians and nurses about technology. Thanks Dr. Rose for eloquently describing the complex technology terms and environment, as well as typical emotional reactions that can be expected as health care becomes more technologically advanced.

Great intro to computer info role in health care management
A real tour de force that combines biomedical and computer language familiarization with applications to managing health care institutions. Using humor and analogies, Rose has written a professional book that doctors and other health care professionals can actually enjoy reading while they learn the language of medical informatics. Lots of management savvy, too, as a bonus.

Not just another pretty book.
I started reading Primrose Past on a plane from Dallas to Los Angeles. It was clever and amusing, and I took it to be an enjoyable, light read. As I got into it, and as the story unfolded more and more, I could see that it was "getting to me" in unexpected ways. The people were so real, the challenges and problems were presented boldly and beautifully. I will never casually pass an old graveyard again, and see all the aging and weathered old stones marking the graves, without remembering this book, and the fact that beneath the ground there are buried dreams, promises and love. Buy this book and see what I mean! Kent Perkins, Los Angeles

A lovely peek into the past.
For her fifteenth birthday in 1848, a young girl living on an estate in Victorian England is giving a diary in which to record her thoughts. She describes her idyllic life in the beautiful English countryside, where her biggest problem is dealing with her annoying little brother. When her parents travel to London, she expresses her disappointment at not being able to join them. Although this girl lived 150 years ago, her feelings and relationships were not all that different from those today. This book seemed almost like a real diary, even though it was fiction. Although this is an adult novel, teenage girls who enjoy historical fiction, such as myself, will enjoy it too. I highly reccomend this book.

A Rose in Full
Primrose Past is terrific. Caroline Hunt has conveyed fully the mind and spirit of an adolescent girl -- her struggle for identity and independence, her drive to develop and demonstrate her knowledge and skills, her emerging romantic and sexual desires, and her longing for family relationships that are mutual, intimate, and special. What a vivid portrayal of this bright, courageous, vulunerable, and likable girl! The story is replete with deft and detailed descriptions of life in England over 150 years ago -- estates (lands, buildings, furnishings, provisions, management, and operations), societal and cultural mores and expectations, and travel and experiences throughout the contemporaneous world. Primrose Past is practically a textbook wrapped in a delightful, intriguing tale. If I were teaching English in secondary school, it would be required reading along with Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. I am eager for the sequel!
