Size of a Man's Wallet, Good Translation
The size is perfect, the print is crisp and clear, and the zipper keeps it sealed up and safe. Pefect to take in your pocket on a walk or a sunset over the lake. Just be careful not lose it... like I have, twice... :-p

a neat little package
nice, small, readable - what more could I want?

New American Standard
Contrary to what the last review says, this Bible is not a King James Version with a snap flap. It is a nice looking black bonded-leather NASB. Does not snap closed, which is alright because people need to keep their Bibles open.

excellent introduction to email
This book does not focus exclusively on a single topic, but instead provides a well-rounded discussion on all things email-related. For example, it does not focus exclusively on any one messaging implementation, nor does it get bogged down on technical discussions of protocols and message boundaries, but instead it covers these topics (and more) as part of a comprehensive discussion on electronic mail in general.

Each chapter tackles a broad subject and then provides a studied discussion of several touchstone issues related to that discussion. For example, there is a chapter on sending email in an enterprise network which provides ample discussions on several subordinate topics, including an introduction to LDAP directories, a summary discussion on various gateways and integration services that are likely to be used in that kind of environment, and details for configuring popular messaging clients to take advantage of these services.

In this regard, Internet Messaging provides a well-rounded introductory discussion on the subject of Internet email at large, making it perhaps the best novice guide on the market. It is especially well-suited for people who are just stepping into messaging concepts, but advanced users and implementors will also find plenty of useful nuggets.

Rose & Strom "get e-mail"
Having only read an excerpt, it's obvious the authors understand e-mail and the valuable role it plays in business-to-consumer communication. If you have customers online, e-mail is a critical part of your communication/marketing strategy. I'm sure this book will help you develop your winning strategy for e-mail. Like Lenny, I'm buying copies for my senior staff.

The primary use of the internet, and most people ignore it.
Important reading for anyone interested in the internet. REQUIRED reading for anyone involved with e-mail, the internet, or e-commerce. I have pre-ordered copies for all my senior staff !!

Very helpful!
I am just starting out as a model and I had so many questions. Is modeling for you? was the perfect find. It gave me insight into the modeling business and helped me to understand the steps that are necessary to succeed. I feel much more conffident now that I have read this book. Every aspiring model should read it.

Tells you things other modeling guides don't, like...
The fact that the majority of today's sucessful black models started at black agencies, and there's a listing of them in this book. It was helpful, but if you're already established as a model, it may seem redundant.

a great book for all models
i recommend this book, because it gave me all the information i needed to get started in a modeling career.

a splendid collection!
julia margaret cameron's women contains 63 different plates representing magnificent victorian portraits photographed back in 1864 to 1874. every plates are monochromed in sepia or black & white. ...5 pages are consacrated to her models biographies, her favorite ones like: julia prinsep jackson (mother of virginia woolf & painter vanessa bell), mary ann hillier (her maid, cameron described her as one of the most beautiful & constant of her models.) , Alice Pleasance Liddell (aka the little girl from whom Lewis Caroll wrote "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" in 1865)..etc.. - 5 other pages focuses on cameron's Literary & mythological subjects:from "DAPHNE" (nymph pursued by the god Apollo) to "OPHELIA" (from shakespeare's "Hamlet")..all are well explained and presented...the rest of the 242 pages are dedicated to margaret's life, her debuts, her Illustrations to tennyson's "Idylls of the king", her different relations... - all fans of painting & photography should own this book! it is a unique reference! cameron was and still is one of the greatest portrait photographers of all time...

other interesting books in this genre: "Reflections in a looking Glass" a centennial celebration of Lewis carroll. , "Photo Historica" landmarks in photography , "a new history of photography" edited by michel frizot.

An Often missed Pre-Raphaelite Vision
This amazing book is well worth the investment. These photos still have the power to knock one over the head with their dizzying beauty. Too often people look to the men who made up the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood for an ideal of the Victorian woman. For a fresh look, one should explore Victoriana through the eyes of the women themselves. Cameron's photography is the perfect counterpart to Christina Rosetti's poetry. Enjoy.

Not merely an expensive coffee table book.
Most photographs here were made in ca. 1870. Looking through the book, I imagine that at that time photography was still so new, so unprecedented, that no one yet had idea of what portrait photography was to become. An art? Or a detailed recording of what the eye perceives? In this ambiguity, Julia Margaret Cameron shows herself in this volume to be great artist, a portrait photographer second to none. In the faces of her women, I can see stories and history as recorded nowhere else.

Most notable is the series of images of Julia Jackson. (She also appears on the front and back covers.) One can see her life evolve over the time span of the photos. These images become even more interesting upon learning she was mother of Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf. So here at last is the real Mrs. Ramsey.

Lady of Gray: Healing Candida The Nightmare Chemical Epidemi
L of G saved my life. Doctors had given me up for dead. I stopped breathing when near any major electrical outlet or field. This is the only book that mentions that and the only one that deals with the emotional, mental, and spiritual healing . An extraordinary story that gave me hope. And the knowledge in it is astounding and beyond anything I've ever come across. I am now back working after lying like a corpse for nearly two year and have started my own business. Thank you Elizabeth Rose. You are a saint. You're book helped me to discover my true path. Thank you again for your courage in writing this horror story.

A story of struggle and hope
My wife has serious chemical sensitivities. Back in the 1980s when her symptoms appeared, the doctors kept diagnosing her reactions as "psychosomatic" because they did not produce identifiable allergens like regular allergies do. This book, published in 1985, was one of the first proofs we found that A) she was not alone and B) it was not "all in her head."

Elizabeth Rose's story, told in a non-technical, almost journal-like style, chronicles her struggle to identify the chemicals in her home and environment that were causing the allergic reactions, then de-toxify her system enough to recover a reasonably normal life. Much additional research has been done on Environmental Illness and Sick Building Syndrome since this book was first published, but it remains a good read. In addition to practical info on identifying harmful chemical factors, she also shares some of the spiritual side of her healing, such as various dreams that gave her clues about what she needed to do. Most of all, her story offers hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

A Hidden Gem: Lady of Gray
Lady of Gray details theauthors physical and spiritualstruggle to overcome "toxicityto the 20th Century"--environmental illnesss. It is written ina distinctly "non-literary"(somewhat awkward, conversational) style thatactually contributes to its charm. The writer delineatesboth the "grunt" work of spiritual and physical healing,as well as some revelationalexperiences. Truly, a rare gem

A fabulous "Eh? B.C." of Canada, full of nuggets of history!
Some of the letters in Ulmer and Rose's A-B-C of Canada are ones you'd expect: "T" is for Toronto, "Q" is for Quebec, and, of course, given the title, "M" is for Maple. While those few are expected, some of what Ulmer and Rose chose to exhibit for this distinctly Canadian A-B-C shows a delicate and wonderful understanding of both the child and adult audience of this book.

From Banting and Best, who gave the world Insulin, to Anne of Green Gables, to Terry Fox, and to - of all things - the Zipper, there are at least 26 nuggets of Canadian Heritage and History here that are presented in an accessible format for kids and adults alike.

Moreover, each page is not just the rhyming quartet for each letter - there is also a sidebar with a few paragraphs or so on the topic, or on other letter related topics. (E, which is for "Eh?" also contains a little write-up in the sidebar on Edmonton, for example. G stands both for Grain and the Governor General.)

The illustrations are beautiful - seeing the artistry of Terry Fox literally stopped me in my tracks. I remember seeing him run by when I was young, and the picture was a perfect capture of that moment.

The perfect Canadian kids book gift, for those relatives overseas, or for those who've been in Canada all their lives, "M is for Maple" has real information, lyrical rhymes, and great artistry. It belongs on any Canadian Youth's shelf, and has certainly found a place on my nephew's.

'Nathan

What a beautiful book!
This book is not only beautifully illustrated, but it provides a wonderful history lesson as well! Two perfect examples are B is for Frederick Banting, the man who discovered insulin, and F is for Terry Fox, a brave man who suffered from cancer and ran across Canada to raise money for cancer research. What a wonderful way for Canadian children to learn about their history. I highly recommend this book.

fantastic
This is a great book for all children, but especially for children living in other countries. It gives young children insight into Canada at their level. It is especially beneficial to Canadian children of servicemen living abroad or in my case my grandson who lives in the United States but has one Canadian parent. It introduces him to his dual heritage. I definetely recommend this book to all.

A Revelation
After reading The Men We Never Knew, I have so much more compassion for men and their dilemma in not being able to express their most tender emotions. I've been aware for quite a long while as to how screwed over men are in our society, and now I know there is a way for men to break free of their emotional constraints. Thanks to this beautiful book, I can open my heart and mind to men's emotions. Further, I can love them as they are and accept their fears, anxiety, anger__and know that beneath the hardness there is softness, tenderness, vulnerabiltiy__much more than we women claim to have. Now I can be strong for my man so that he can open up and be "weak" with me. Thank you, Daphne Rose Klingma, for sharing your compassionate insights with us. I recommend this book for every adult woman who truly wants men to express themselves and to connect with them on a profound level.

"I love this book"
Daphne Rose Kingma's book, "The Men We Never Knew: How To Deepen Your Relationship With the Man You Love," is a revalation. This book opened my eyes about men and their emotions and the role that women play in creating and encouraging the fears that men have and the inability of men to relinquish those fears. As I read this book, I saw so many of the men that I have known and I was finally able to understand what they were going through. Reading this book is giving me the opportunity to change my thinking about men and my relationships with men, not only the romantic relationships, but all of my relationships with men. I am going to give this book to all of my female friends.

Enormously helpful in understanding both men and women
This is a powerhouse of a book which addresses very deep issues in understanding both men's and women's hearts and minds. I found myself repeatedly saying Yes! Yes! on page after page, and noting passages I wanted my partner to read. From this book's title and appearance I expected it to be rather shallow pop psychology, a rehash of what I'd heard elsewhere. I was overjoyed to find that I was completely mistaken on that point, and the author's engaging and graceful writing style is icing on the cake. Everyone who wants to understand men and women better will benefit from reading this book.

Mexican Light: Exciting Healthy Recipes from the Border and Beyond

Great Mexican
This is one of the best of the Mexican cookbooks for people who want to incorporate food more authentic than "Tex-Mex," cheese-smothered dishes into a health-conscious lifestyle. While the dishes aren't meant to be historically and culturally precise, they do in my opinion represent the progression in Mexican cooking that has been overdue. A vegetarian-friendly cookbook, "Mexican Light" was written by a woman who clearly has eaten what she cooks, and has tinkered extensively with her creations to come up with just the right textures, flavors, and spices. The recipes run the gamut and can be made every day or for special occasions. Her approaches for fat-free chips have eliminated store-bought kinds in my household. The tostadas, blackbean-and-tomato soup, quesadillas, and pureed fruit desserts are wonderful. The potato-and-chicken soup with lime is fantastic and simple, easily converted to vegetarian by substituting seitan for the chicken. The chayote-and-yam stew is a favorite amongst my friends, as is the potato-and corn salad. The corn soup dish, while time consuming, is spectacular and makes the best of sweet corn in August. The most-made dish in my house is the green chilaquiles, totally unique and better in her recipe than any I've had in a restaurant.

Flavorful recipes that give "light" a good name.
This is a very useful book filled with delicious recipes that my picky husband and our guests love. Try the chipotle chicken salad! The instructions are simple to follow and most recipes are not too time consuming.

Great set of tasty, healthy, but not authentic recipes
Most of the dishes I've cooked in the last few months have been recipes from this excellent book. If you've used Shulman's other cookbooks, you'll recognize the style: chatty writing, bold flavors (e.g., lots of garlic and cilantro), a mixture of vegetarian and meat dishes, careful instructions in the recipes, a nutritional summary for each recipe, and a separate chapter on unusual ingredients. Many of the dishes in this book can be made in 30 minutes to an hour, though some are more complex. And while the food may be good for you, it tastes terrific.

Don't expect this book to be an authoritative survey of Mexican cooking. There's no mole poblano, or even a burrito recipe. Some recipes are fairly authentic, others merely "inspired" by Mexican ingredients. Since the recipes she concocts are often as good as the classics she leaves out, that's a minor drawback.
