Inspiring, practical, and thoroughly readable
Julie Jansen's book is inspiring, practical, and thoroughly readable - a rare achievement in the self-help field. She writes with confidence and enthusiasm from a deep well of knowledge and professional experience. This book has been essential to help me maneuver through a major career change and has directed me to the right path - a switch from the profit sector to a more meaningful non-profit job. The self-discovery exercises are fun and provide many surprising insights into one's psyche. Her concise, direct suggestions for job search, networking, and interviewing have provided an extremely useful refresher course for me. The book also includes a splendid list of valuable additional resources for further guidance.

I don't know what I want, but I know it's not this
Extraordinary book. A balanced combination of self-assessment, leading to personal discovery, and data that yields perspective. It's like a contemporized, more relevant version of "what color is my parachute?"... with the added element of deeper emotional drive. It c learly depicts the realities of today's complex work economy. Then, marrying the concept of uncovering and fufilling our life's purpose. I read a business book a week, and this is the rare occurence...smart, relevant, thought-provoking and practical.

Engaging and Refreshing
As a career-oriented author myself, I've read through nearly four dozen job-hunt and "what-should-I-do-now?" titles--and this is one of the only books I actually stopped to get in touch with the author about.

Julie's advice is both pithy and heartfelt, her anecdotes rich and textured, and her exercises practical and telling. As if she were right there in the room to lend her support (and a firm kick in the pants), Jansen instills the confidence and the impetus to take control of your professional life, and to go out and find that work you were made to do.

For employees and "if only" entrepreneurs at nearly any stage of their career, Julie has not only her finger on the pulse, but a warm and comforting hand on the shoulder. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT is genuine, approachable, and simply a wonderful read--a true resource to any career-changer.

Great!!!!
I just can say that it is great. There are no other words for this book...

The Lion King is GOD!
I absolutely LOVE The Lion King. I, unfortunately have not yet been able to see it yet, but I might this summer and I'm so excited! I am 14 years old and I have recognized, for a long time now, Julie Taymor's brilliance! She is a designing and directing genius! I bought her SUPREME book title Playing With Fire, which I strongly recommend you all to buy...

The music from TLK on Broadway is, in itself, a brilliant thing! And, once again, if you don't have the CD, go out and buy that too. This book is an awesome thing that tells the whole story of bringing life to the godlike stage production we know to be TLKoB. The book is split into three parts; conceptualization, development, and performance. Julie Taymor is awesome and I love her! I would just DIE if I could meet her!

Many people don't understand the concept of infinity; I can't explain it except that it "goes on forever;" which is the way I feel about this book, the music, and ultimately, the musical. I'd give this book infinite stars! Enjoy!

it's a great book of the musical!!!!!!!
"The Lion King : Pride Rock on Broadway" was really fun looking at.It had wonderful photos from the show and told how the show came together from conception to production design. It showed you costume designs, the actors in full costume, the sets, how they did the phenominal special effects, and much more! It's cool, and one of my favorite theater books!

Buy one for yourself and several as gifts.
I bought this book to use as resource for my environmental education and religion/spirituality work. As a musician and songwriter for the Earth Mama projects, I review lots of current music materials. This is the finest I have seen. Notation is clear and accurate. Commentary and notes on the songs and ideas are articulate and thoughtful. The entire volume (over 400 songs)is a rich resource of material from many traditions which I will savour and enjoy for years. References, incidentals, quotes and comments sprinked throughout are the icing on the cake. I have given several of these as gifts to schools, music departments and organizations. They are always delighted to add Songs for Earthlings to their library.
Joyce Rouse, AKA Earth Mama...

Earth's Hymnal
This is a great resource for anyone who likes to sing earth-friendly songs. Great selection, well organized, and the hole-punched format fits well with the many notebooks of music I have.

Excellent Resource
I am a choir director for a small, non-denominational Christian church. We like to do music from a wide variety of traditions. This book has been like a gift from the Gods! It's an amazing resource for music from so many different traditions, organized in an easy to use way. Every time I look through it I find something new.

A Must for Guiding Light fans
Great book! Lots of information about GL. I enjoyed reading what happened in the episodes before I was an avid watcher.

GL FAN
I have been a huge fan of GL for a few yrs now..the only thing that sux about this book is that all the great gl stars have left.. wendy moniz as dinah marler and cynthia watros as annie dutton will greatly be missed..

it is a great show...but the WRITING DESPERATELY NEEDS to improve...but the memories from 1990-1997 were truly spectacular...finally we see THE LIGHT!

Perfect for any Guiding Light Fanatic
What an awesome way to celebrate the longest running show in broadcast history. Sixty years is really a long time, and this is the perfect way to enjoy all those special moments with the Bauers, Marlers, Chamberlains, Spauldings, Lewis, Reardons, Thorpes. Look through the romances of Reva and the schemes of Roger. Look through the most spectacular love Stories ever told on daytime TV. This is perfect for any die-hard Guiding Light fan.

I personally enjoyed this book, because I have only been a fan of the TV series for about 5 years now and since reading this book, I feel like I was actually there when the show started on the radio.

In the Words of Great Business Leaders
I have recently read this fascinating book by Fenster. As a business leader in my own right I was fascinated to find that buisness leaders from long ago had a lot to offer me in terms of advice and philosophies. I highly reccommend this book to anyone with a passing interest in business. That is everyone

Timeless Principles
This book is incredible. I was able to learn the business philosophy of several well known and successful leaders from both past and present. It was remarkably insightful. As a leader of several hundred employees and a multimillion dollar budget, it has certainly helped me refocus on important business principles. Principles that are sometimes forgotten during the hustle and bustle of day to day business. The leaders profiled in this book generally had a very clear focus on what they wanted to accomplish and how they would accomplish it. A similar set of princilpes seemed to guide their successes. I am enormously grateful that I have been exposed to their wisdom. I am a better leader now that I have read it (several times).

A Wealth of Wisdom and Eloquence
Most executives have a personal business library, consisting of titles which are most relevant to their respective needs and interests. Here is an excellent candidate to consider. Fenster has anthologized a wealth of insights from a diverse range of sources, including several one would not perhaps think of as "great business leaders." For example, Mary Pickford, Madame C.J. Walker, Clarence Birdseye, and Margaret Rudkin. Of course, there is a generous selection from the usual sources such as Andrew Carnegie, Sam Walton, John D. Rockefeller, Albert P. Sloan, Jr., David Packard, and Herb Kelleher. The quotations are organized within five Parts:

Talk About Convincing: SALESMEN

No Stone Left Unturned: HUSTLING HARD WORKERS

The Thoughts That Count: SELF-MADE SUCCESSES

The Buck Stops: BOSSES

No Matter What Everyone Else is Doing: MAVERICKS

This would be a terrific source for material to be included in correspondence, internal and external newsletters, speeches, business plans, formal proposals, and multi-media presentations. The same material also offers new insights or reminders which can help to clarify thoughts, especially during a problem-solving process. Fenster includes a brief introduction to each Part and then a brief bio of each great business leader quoted. One of my personal favorites is what Herb Kelleher says about Perspective: "Think small and act small, and we'll get bigger. Think big and act big, and we'll get smaller." Some of the hundreds of quotations will be familiar to each reader...others will not. All are worthy of inclusion in this entertaining as well as useful collection.

Love Ya Like a Sister: A Story of Friendship

An excellent book... but sad
This is a wonderful book about friendship. A girl named Katie goes with her family to live in Paris for a year, but was going to return to Canada to graduate grade 12 with her friends. Katie and her friends; Ashley(who was her best friend), Maude and Heather kept in touch often through letters, e-mail or sometimes the phone. Katie always ended her letters with Ilove you, or Love you like a sister.(LYLAS) Ashley and Katie had just arranged for Ashley to visit w/ Katie, but then ... THIS BOOK ROCKED!!!

Love Ya Like A Sister
AFter I read this book I relized how much you need to savor your life and what friendship really means! Its really touching and will keep you reading until you finish this book!

Amazing Non Fiction
From page one I became enthralled with the charactors of this book. Amazingly enough is the fact that these are not charactors but real people. It is the true story of a girl's last moments dialogued in her emails and letters to her friends. It reminded me alot of myself and my friends. I feel that many will identify with Katie. This book is a reminder to all that life can change in an instant and we must cherish those that are placed in our lives!

Great Book - As always with Julie Kenner
This is a must read if you like Julie Kenner... She is a great talent.

Very highly recommended
Julie Kenner's NOBODY DOES IT BETTER provides a sexy read that includes the outrageous and the humorous. This light and quick novel will leave the reader hungering for more from this author's pen.

Within twenty-four hours, Paris Sommer's plan goes right down the drain. She had it all figured out. Write a couple more testosterone-laden adventures under her pen name, pad her bank account, and then write the great American novel that academia and her father would be proud of. Somewhere in the mix she would find a nice husband, have a couple of kids and live in a house in the suburbs. And it looked like her plan was going to work; that is, until the hero of her fiction walked through the door.

Devin O'Malley, owner of a local pub and son of a con artist, couldn't help overhearing Paris and Rachel's conversation. If Paris needed Montgomery Alexander to walk into a party thrown in his honor, then that's what would happen. A little hair dye, a change of clothes and a quick study of her previous novels, and Devin transforms himself into the supposed author. But he hadn't counted on a three-week stint of imitating the fictional author, nor had he figured out where he's going to get $20,000 to keep the mob from doing horrible things to his father. But what's the mob compared to his wild attraction and desperate longing for Paris?

This sexy, funny tale will leave the reader in stitches. Julie Kenner is a rising star with romance, and bears watching. Her indomitable style, mischievous romantic streak, and quick moving plots are wonderful entertainment. As a reviewer, I've already had a sneak peak at her next book THE CAT'S FANCY, due out in August. Both NOBODY DOES IT BETTER and THE CAT'S FANCY are not to be missed!

Cute and Fun--A Great Romp
I read a lot of Harlequin Temptations. I always find them cute and funny and sexy. I have a few favorite Temptation authors, ones who really understand dishing up a romantic fantasy, steamy style. Julie Kenner does this well! Devin is yummy, to-die-for and clever. He knows how to keep Paris (the heroine) and the readers teased and breathless. I found myself turning the pages just to see what this outrageous duo would do next. Kenner has such a wry, engaging way with words. I laughed out loud quite a few times. I'm sure hoping for more from Julie Kenner. Really, no one does Temptation better!

This was a mesmerizing book.
This book was one that I enjoyed very much and read quickly. I couldn't put it down! I originally purchased this book because my family and I visited St. Helena Island, a Sea Island with much Gullah tradition, last year and loved it. I thought this book would be a way to learn more about the culture of the Sea Islands and get a good story out of it at the same time. It turned out to be so much more than that. Julie Dash does a masterful job of weaving Amelia's story into those of her mother and grandmother who have left the Island and moved to New York City to escape the "backwards" island culture. Amelia comes to love and appreciate her family and the rich heritage of her ancestors. This book was enriching both from a literary and cultural standpoint. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good "coming of age" novel.

MOVING
Daughters of the Dust is a very moving, mystical journey full of haunting imagery and simple pleasures. It is the story of Amelia, an anthropology student, who has to decided to study the people of Dawtah Island as her thesis. Dawtah Island has been a mystery to her for as long as she can remember. Her mother and grandmother were born on the island. Her grandmother seems to despise everything about the island especially the people and their ignorant and backwards customs. In direct contrast her mother's fondest memories are of her life on the island, she remembers being truly happy there. Amelia has only visited the island once and was in awe of the simplicity of life there.

It is decided that Amelia will live with Eula and Eli, her aunt and uncle, while she studies the culture and customs of the island. Initially she finds the residents of the island reluctant to talk to her. They consider her an outsider and fear she will not understand them. As the islanders become more familiar with Ameila they begin to open up and share their stories with her. Through their stories she realizes their culture is rich in customs; they live in harmony with the animals and elements. They live a simple life but they control their own destiny and revel in life's simple pleasures. Their stories also tell of the joys of love and heartaches of lost or unrequited loves.

Reserve a couple weeks to read this one, it's a "ponderers" delight.

Is there a daughters of the dust part 2
This was such a well written book. The way Julia Dash developed the characters and described the scenery of the Gullah Islands caused me to want to visit South Carolina myself. I recommend this book to anyone.

The Epic Adventures of Julie and Her Wolves
When 13 year-old Julie Edwards Miyax Kapugen runs away from an arranged marriage, she gets lost in the vast and lonely Alaskan tundra. This begins the extraordinary journey of Miyax and the wolves she befriends. While struggling to survive in the harsh Arctic winter Miyax experiences something few humans ever will. She lives as one of the pack, eating from the wolves kills and communicating with them in their language of barks, yips and tail wags. Soon she grows to loves them as she would her family. But when she learns that her father, the great hunter Kapugen, lives on, she decides to go back to him. Struggling to adjust to this new way of life, she learns that the Eskimo way of life is dying, even in her father. Then hunters endanger her wolves, and Miyax must choose between her pack and her father. This engaging trilogy includes Newbery Medal winning Julie of the Wolves, and its sequels, Julie and Julie's Wolf Pack. They are written by celebrated wildlife biologist and author, Jean Craighead George. Miyax's epic quest to find where humans belong reminds us of our beginnings, and of the creatures with whom we share this world.

Some of the greatest books.. ever!!!!!!!
I bought this pack of books, and I think these are some of the greatest books I've ever read. I've read too many... and none are the best, but these are some of my favorites! Julie Edwards/Miyax Kapugen is stuck on the tundra. She learns by watching a pack of wolves the language of them. She becomes a member of the pack, led by Amoroq. They give her food and she travels with them. She becomes friends with Amoroq's pup, Kapu, and when he is the new Alpha, Julie helps the pack stay strong throughout all three books (Julie of the Wolves, Julie, and Julie's Wolf Pack). I highly recommend this to anyone that respects animals and nature. We should all appreciate them!

Some of the greatest books!
I love animals.. and am interested in wolves most. I am eleven years old and these books are so interesting! I learned all about a wolf's life and their own language. I strongly recommend all three of them!

Lead Me On
Published in Mass Market Paperback by St Martins Mass Market Paper (2003)
Author: Julie Ortolon
Amazon base price: $6.50
Average review score:

Emotional, sensual and utterly gorgeous
This hard-earned effort by dyslexia-afflicted writer Julia Ortolon is one of the rare books of the genre that explores the essence of romance to its fullest. Lead Me On begins with bestselling author Scott Lawrence traveling to Pearl Island Inn, Galveston with a fervent hope to cure his writer's block. Allison St. Clare operates the gift shop in her family-owned inn and is oddly fascinated with this celebrity. However her prim image and innocence dispels any thoughts of a fling from Scott's head. Allison feels insulted by his lack of spontaneity and strikes a plan for a one-night stand, much to his surprise. Scott is astonished when she unleashes her sensual side.

Love and marriage never cross his hardened-cynic of a mind especially with his shadowed childhood and a notoriety of a dad - magnate John LeRoche. His father is suing Alli's brother-in-law Chance to get back the Island that he sold. There is a history in this island pertaining to Alli's ancestor Marguerite who had a tragic and unrequited romance with Captain Jack Kingsley. A pearl necklace bestowed to Marguerite was believed to bless the island - and LeRoche wants it back badly.

This secret withheld from Alli threatens to shatter the delicate trust and love between them. Add on to insecurity from a past miscarriage and Scott's reticence about his family, the path to love becomes arduous. Ms. Ortolon poignantly explores love as a double-edged sword which causes joy as well as hurt with emotional turmoil that flashes out the vulnerability of her characters thoroughly. She intricately weaves an ancient phantasmagoric tale of unrequited love to mirror the devastation to relationships with the lack of trust.

The bouncy ensemble of side characters like Scott's niece Chloe and the St. Clare family beautifully adds values of kinship and concern. Scott and Allison evoke sensual radiance and convince readers as a united pair. Lead Me On is emotional, sensual and utterly gorgeous and this coming from an author struggling to realize her dreams makes it doubly touching.

engaging contemporary romance
Badly hurt in a relationship once before, Allison St. Claire vowed never again would a man devastate her heart again. However, when horror writer Scott Lawrence checks into her family owned and operated Pearl Island Inn on Galveston Island, Allison reconsiders her pledge.

Scott is immediately attracted to Allison from the moment he first sees her, but she is wife material and all he desires is a fling to end his frustrating two years of celibacy. He does not want marriage so he plans to avoid her. However, the stubborn Allison convinces him to enjoy an affair with her during his month stay with the stipulation neither would have regrets and insist on a further attachment. Between love and a threat to the inn, Scott finds he wants to rewrite the ending from a gothic horror to a romantic happily ever after together.

The latest St. Claire tale, LEAD ME ON, is an engaging contemporary romance starring two enchanting emotionally wounded lead warriors. The support cast including the return of the stars (Aurora and Chance) of the first novel FALLING FOR YOU and Allison's brother enhances the audience's appreciation of the story line by enabling the reader to understand the motives of the protagonists. Fans will want to read Julie Ortolon's delightful tale while waiting for the final St. Clair story starring the male sibling Adrian.
