A Year for Art
There are calendars and then there are Calendars. The art works by Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell are exceptional. Each month is set out with it's own mythology story and picture. The centre fold is a full length picture. This calendar is a must to own and definitely worth displaying for all you friends and family to admire; so make sure it is the focal point in your home.

mesmerizing but cold
The illustrations are great, is a show of hands. It's a lavish extravagance of color and virtuosism but the human figures appear to be posing very much as if they were ready for a photo session, and that lack of spontaneity. And if you like painting things like that you will find a -what to do guide in those artworks. A wild calendar!

A must read for all women
My name is Sherry Lebed Davis and I am a Dance Movement Specialits for breast cancer survivors and travel all over the country teaching, training and presenting to breast cancer surviovrs and the healthcare community . I am also a breast cancer survivor who is always reading and trying to find answers to the many questions I am asked. This book has answered so many questions that surviors around the country ask me. Every survivor should read this book to answer questions they have now, and preventative steps they should know about to prevent reoccurrence. This book would be a wonderful guide for the Allied Health Professional. It would enable them to help their patients have a better quality of life, a true understanding of the wonderful studies that are cited in this book, get their life back on track and educate them about breast cancer. It is a must read for all women as an educational tool to learn as much as they can on how to try to prevent breast cancer. It is truely the best book on breast cancer I have read!

A Must Read
Three experts have joined together to write the book that every woman and man should read to live a healthy, breast cancer-free life. For the past six years, I have worked with the authors asking them repeatedly to write this book to help prevent the spread of breast cancer. I am so appreciative of them for their work - it's excellent.

As an exercise scientist myself, I guarantee that the workouts and information in BREAST FITNESS is accurate and meaningful. If you have been looking for all of the information on using exercise and health techniques to live a higher energy and lower stressed life, read this one.

Comprehensive, Fascinating, Revealing
If you think it's all just casinos and tacky wedding chapels, read this book. Who would have thought Nevada, of all places, had such a rich architectural heritage? Nicoletta covers the history of Nevada, from wickiups to atomic test sites to the latest reinvention of the Las Vegas Strip, and everything in between, with clarity, conciseness, and keen observation. Her descriptions, precise without being dry or overly technical, bring to life not only the buildings but the individuals and communities that built them. I can open this book to any random page and be hooked by a fascinating, unexpected tidbit. The book also contains a helpful glossary of architectural terms, a thorough bibliography, and index. My only complaint is I would have liked even more of Bret Morgan's excellent photographs.

Indispensable!
The one and only book on this subject, BUILDINGS OF NEVADA is thoroughly researched and wittily opinionated. It ventures far beyond the familiar territory of Hoover Dam and Las Vegas, to explore boom towns and ghost towns, courthouses and whorehouses.

It will be indispensable for anyone interested in understanding the history and psychology of the Old West. Loaded with helpful maps and photos, it's also a great travel companion for anyone who interested in seeing more of Nevada than the view from I-80.

Simply wonderful!!!
What more can be said about this book, then simply wonderful? It's a great story, that is enjoyed by children and the illustrations are just as captivating. Enjoy!

A family classic!
I have had this book since I was very young, and it has always been one of my favorites. I always found the story fun and entertaining as a child, but now that I'm a bit older, I realize that I still enjoy it. The story is enjoyable, but the illustrations are wonderful also. Highly recommended!

My brin d'amour
As a cheese professional I have found this book to be an invaluable resource. The tasting notes are particularly helpful and on many occassions I have referenced them in describing cheeses to my customers. I appreciate the lack of photographs-- as a professional I do know most of the cheeses and what they look like, I just don't always have the words to describe them and their characteristics. I have especially enjoyed her descriptions of various farmhouse English, Scottish, Irish, and Australasian cheeses not available here. For me the only minus is that the indices following each chapter do not have brief descriptions of the cheeses, just country of origin, region, and milk source. I usually recommend this book to my more 'advanced' customers -- beginners are probably better suited to her world encyclopaedia of cheeses. Let's hope it comes out in soft cover soon so the price will go down...

"Cheese" Will Please
"Cheese" offers complete descriptions of a very wide range of cheeses. As the only cheese guidebook organized by types of cheese, it is the ideal reference when searching for a new kind of blue or discovering the different types of chedder. My only wish is that more pictures were provided, as only more popularly-used cheeses are photographed. Unlike some cheese resources, this book does not include recipes, but instead devotes its pages to facts about purchasing cheeses, creating cheese trays, regions where cheeses are made, and other cheese characteristics. Overall, it is the best book I have come across for expanding your knowledge of cheese in general, as well as to find out more about the new cheese you saw at the grocer's.

Christmas Gifts of Good Taste
This is probably one of the best in the "Memories in the Making" Series. I would definitely recommend this book!

Give handmade offerings from your kitchen.
This book is another clever and appealing-to-the-eye book from the people at Leisure Arts. What better way to share a bit of yourself at the holiday time than to create something special from your kitchen to give to a special neighbor, co-worker, or friend. The gifts range from interesting canned goods such as Peppermint Marmalade to prebaked items such as Noel Cakes With Orange Sauce. I especially enjoyed making and giving mixes that the recipient can make themselves, such as the Christmas Cookie Crate. This includes a giant canister of the cookie starter with all the fixins' to make Peanut Butter Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Granola Cookies. What will appeal to the reader is not only the wide assortment of delectable recipes, but the ideas for packaging the treats! On the page for Black Bean Soup, the packaging is a small soup pot and ladle, with a plaid scarf tied around the pot. Just the thing to take the edge off winter! Or the box of Christmas Light Cookies inside a box resembling a Christmas light box! These ideas are all extremely easy, though will impress the recipients with the time you spent putting something special together just for them. Enjoy this book, there's enough for many years of "good taste" in it.

Charmingly Illustrated
The illustrations in this book took me back to my childhood, and reminded me of the magic I used to feel when I first discovered picture books. It makes me wish other book illustrators took some lessons from the past and applied their knowledge to make children's books fun again. I will recommend this book to any parent who wants to give their child the same excitement they felt when they cracked open their favorite picture book.

a great book
excellent book for younger children.illustrations are done very professionally and with great energy.

stone list/replacements
If you purchase the book used/without the stones- here is a list along with substitutions for the 5 hard-to-find ones:
red cullet(sub: red aventurine), rose quartz, red jasper, carnelian, golden tiger's eye, brown agate(sub: turritella agate), green quartz, dark green aventurine, hematite, sodalite, deep amethyst, banded/chevron amethyst, clear A grade quartz, cloudy B grade quartz, silent stone(sub: snow quartz), Montana agate(sub: green moss agate), smoky quartz, & black onyx(sub: obsidian)

Qabalah & Crystals- Match Made In Heaven
There are 18 stones (smaller: half to three-quarter inch) that are used in a variety of "spreads" such as The Tree of Life (10 sephiroth), The 12 House Zodiac Wheel, etc. Appendix B gives blank forms to photocopy & use to record readings. There are correspondences with Tarot, Astrology, Numerology, & Color as well. Her color scheme is very Chakra-oriented (intentional??) which is slightly different than the online interactive Tree of Life that I learned from. She also gives instruction on adding your own stones (in balance to the Tree) to the system. The "board" is a full color 6x11 sheet, but you will HAVE to laminate it (it's not even cardstock). ....

THANKS FOR THE "A" MYRNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before I bought "Exploring Medical Language" I knew absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing about Medical Terminology.
And to tell you the truth, when I first opened this huge, intimidating, monster of a book, It scared... me... I mean, wouldn't "rhabdomyosarcoma" or "esophagogastroduodenoscopy"
frighten you (just a bit) I thought, nooooo way.

But I opened it, read it, did the cool excersises, listen the the audio tapes, played a bit with the CD-R.

She begins at the beginning.....Little baby steps.

All of a sudden... I was like, I get it! I really get it!
Not only that, but I was beginning to enjoy it.

The prefix, suffix, and word roots suddenely become beautiful, flowing words that make sense.
Myrna LaFleur Brooks made this book come alive, interesting, and allowed medical language to become a little bit like music.
Well, a little!!!! Thanx for the "A" Myrna!

This text is invaluable
I'm currently using this book as a supplemental text for my paramedic training. We've just finished cardiology, and I couldn't have done it without this text. I already owned Phalen, Dubin, and Huff; all are good, but the Huszar text is now the one I go to first when I have a question about ECG's. There are a multitude of practical illustrations, tables, and review questions. Best of all is the 200-and-some strips for practice in the appendix. Highly recommend!!

Very Good Beginner's Overview
This is a very good overview book with enough details to get the beginner going. Takes one from zero networking knowledge to the point where they can understand many aspects of data networking, and leaves them at a point where additional research can be self-directed.

Many of the callers on our tech support hotline would benefit from this one.

If you're already a year or two into networking, this isn't for you... but for a rank beginner, it's great.

Data Networks works!
A very informative book for beginners and ones like myself that need a refresher course now and again. This was very easy to understand and I have recommended it to my staff to help in their training. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn from the ground up. Five stars!!!!!
