So Adorable
I asked for this book to make things for my Waldorf schooled child or with my Waldorf grade school students if it was simple enough. I think the children over 3rd grade could handle most of the things with help. It is more complicated than I imagined (HAPPILY). I am really tired of making nuthats and the KLUTZ type faries, they are wonderful, but we needed something new! These are not necessarily Waldorf friendly for the purists, but they could certainly be easily adapted to be so! The fairies are terribly adorable. We cannot wait to get started on dragonfly!

One of a Kind!
One of a kind. An exquisite conception, a much wanted and needed craft book that involves the whole family. Crosses all social, economic and cultural boundaries in a most fantastical and dreamy way that I have not seen before! I wish the writer all the best, as she's brought so much to us...............awating her next book!

More thanJust Scrapbook Pages!
I was a complete novice at scrapbooking. I created a rather lame wedding album (IMHO), but I didn't have the money, old pictures, talent, etc to get into scrapbooking "for real". Also my first hubby had stolen a LOT of the early pics of our kids, so I had very little to work with.
I have a 1-year-old granddaughter, and she has inspired me to shoot entire rolls of film trying to capture her elusive little smile. Ah, the sweet agony! But what to do with all those pictures? Make a scrapbook! LOL So, now that I've started working on the little one's book, some of my now-grown children's missing pics suddenly re-appeared. It's a miracle!

I found this book at Michael's on the discount table, thought it looked interesting, & brought it home. More than Memories II, Beyond the Basics is rich in interesting projects. They give step-by-step, assuming no prior knowledge, recipe-like, easy to follow instructions. Stress-relieving reassurances are given throughout the review & techniques section, showing consideration for beginners. I like working in so many different mediums, sometimes all at the same time! I am happy to have found this book, and this new hobby, and I look forward to receiving the rest of the books by the same people (I ordered them yesterday!). I was also inspired to go online and look on PBS to see the TV show that the book is based on: "More Than Memories". I didn't find that show...maybe it's off the air...but I did find info for great family albums; complete with family history, her-story (oral stories women usually keep), and much, much more! And with the help of my books, I can put it all together into cool projects to keep and to give!

Beautiful PBS Book On Creatively Preserving Family History !
This new 128 page 8 1/2 x 11" fully color illustrated book takes you beyond the basics in how to save your family photos, memorabilia and histories. A very helpful book that guides you step-by-step on how to photo tinting, paper embossing, photo transferring, making greeting cards, puzzles and time capsules. Every topic is clearly described and every page contains very large, full color completed photos of each project. Each project provides the list of supplies needed and a simple step-by-step description of what to do. There are chapters on: home and family, heritage, travel and vacations, babies, holidays, sports, kids, weddings, nature and scenery, school, celebrations, memory gifts and more. Wow ! Just seeing the photos makes you want to act on the boxes of stuff you have sitting in the closet gathering dust. A truly great book that is part of the Public Television Series. Very useful.

A dress rehearsal for laughing about dying
This is a book about an upsetting subject that will cheer you up. I read it while in the throes of treatment for a completely different but also grisly medical problem. It took my mind so completely off my own situation that when I was undressing for bed later I looked down and was quite astonished to see no scar on my breast. At the same time it also addressed my own feelings in a way none of my doctors did. It helped so much to see that someone who is smart, nice and funny can be hit with a medical problem that is stupid, obnoxious and fundamentally unamusing. Maybe I too can be okay even though I'm not okay. The thought of dying really doesn't kill your own sense of the humor and poetry that lurks in hospital corridors, but it's isolating to discover that trying to share the lighter moments with others will only upset them. So it was a relief to be able to join the cocktail party in Wadler's mind -- this book reads like Nora Ephron (``Heartburn'') getting sick instead of divorced. If you've been there, you'll understand why I laughed to read Wadler's wry comment on doctors who disagreed about how to save her life: ``Great, I think, duelling doctors. I suppose it's why people get second opinions, but it's not doing a lot for my confidence about the profession.'' Even if you haven't, you'll close this book feeling glad to have joined Wadler's ``dress rehearsal for dying.''

A must-read for anyone going down the cancer path
This is not a psycho-babble, how-to-cope book nor is it a dry, dull medical book chock-a-block with technoterms. Instead, it is a funny insiders travelogue that makes anyone feel like they are not alone. My mother took it with her anywhere and often referred to the author as "my funny friend in New York."

a must have for the cat lover who needlepoints
Julie Hasler has captured the heart of the cat lover. When I look at needlepoint books the first thing I look for is a design of a cat, and to think here is a book with no cutesy cats. Each design reminds one of some cat one has known. The only problem is deciding which to make first. Keep doing more books, Julie Hasler!

Wonderful Designs for Cat Lovers everywhere
A range of cat designs with a difference. Each cat has character and the backgrounds are superb. If you are a cat lover you will love it although you may be like me and find it hard to decide which one to create first.

This book captures the best of the spirit of family traditon
Once Upon A Recipe Favorite Tales, Food & FUNtivities brought back wonderful memories for me of playing "big girl" in the kitchen with my easy bake oven while mom cooked Sunday dinner. I was first attracted to the book's colorful cover and once I gave it to my children they loved looking at the illustrations, reading the stories and doing all the FUNtivities. They especially liked creating their masterpieces like "The Three Little Pigs'Pig-faced Pizzas". As a mom, I found the book endearing and educational , and the recipes surprisingly easy and tasty! Once Upon A Recipe's Favorite Tales, Food & FUNtivities has already given us hours of family fun! We give it 'two Tom Thumbs up' too!

One of the most helpful books on Tx plants
I was very impressed with this book. I read through the whole thing several times. She reviews plants that will grow well in all of the climates in the state, and gives you enough information to be able to judge if you should give the plant you want to grow a try, even if your region isn't the best for it. Very detailed, yet easy to read, and very well written.

The best book I have had the pleasure to use. A must!!!!
This is the best gardening book on perennial flowers in Texas I have used. It covers every region of the state not just a section. The photos are excellent for planing your own garden or for identifing flowers from a region not familar to you. Ms Ryan has done us amatuers a great service. Thank You Julie!

This was my daughter's favorite book as a baby!!
I bought this book for my daughter when she was about six months old and my husband and I read it to her quite a few times daily. My daughter absolutely loved this book! I liked ready it to her and showing her the pictures. She played with this book soo much that I now need to replace it with another. Great book!!!

Inexpensive, cheerful and just the right length.
My daughter loves the sound effects in this book. The idea that Pippa helps her mother with the daily tasks is very appealing, as my daughter loves to help me. She also loves that Pippa completes a new task all by herself. My daughter is 17 months old and learned to recognize herself as "me" from this book, as Pippa recognizes herself at the end of the book. I love the bright eyes on Pippa and her mother and the decorations in the mouse-hole house.

If you only read one parenting book, read this one!
I first read this book long before becoming pregnant, and again now that I am the mother of an almost two year old. I thought it was the best parenting book around both times. The basic premises of respect for our children and consistency in our actions are very sound principles of postitive parenting. The book is easy to read, filled with practical examples and much appreciated honesty from the author about her own successes and failures in parenting. I am buying a copy this year for all my friends who struggle, as we all do, to be the best parents we can be.

Learn how to not say NO
Excellent book to learn how to communicate with your child without resorting to the standard "NO". If you are really trying to teach our child something but the only words that come to mind are "NO" and "Don't", this book is a must.

Cycle "escape"
Want to find a great guide for an enjoyable cycling adventure on the Katy Trail across Missouri? While this "escape" is only one of many covered in Gustafson & Jarrett's "Great Escapes from St. Louis", it is worth the price of the book alone. My husband and I have enjoyed several weekend bicycle trips along the trail made more enjoyable by their recommendations for historic sites, restaurants and our favorite experience; staying in a bed & breakfast. Pick up this book if you want to plan a bike trip from beginning to end! It is enjoyable reading while you locate valuable information that takes the guess work out of your travel planning. The authors convince you to travel our part of the country and experience the fun they obviously had while researching this book.

My Eyes Have Been Opened
I have lived in Kansas City area for 15 years and had no idea there was so much too see and do here. I had heard about these attractions, but the authors really captured their character and liveliness. Seeing our city through another's eyes made us realize how much we have to offer. We also went to St. Joseph and enjoyed seeing the museums described in the book. We definitely plan on using this book for more "Escapes," especially those to the east. These authors obviously put a lot of time and work into this publication.
