PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS & REALISTIC PSYCHOLOGICAL ADVICE
This book is written directly to the point with intelligence and wit, yet it is a comprehensive and sophisticated treatment of the worrisome topic. There is obviously much thoughtful experience serving as the background for the practical advice offered to parents. The discussion of various types of homework problems and the inclusive approach for remediation are particularly good.

John Rosemond is a great help to parents!
As a mother of 2 active, young boys, I can attest to John Rosemond's theories. I often receive compliments on my sons' behavior -- they are polite and very well behaved (at least outside the house!). John Rosemond's books have changed our lives as a family. He gives wonderful, practical advice on how to raise children who are happy and how to keep peace in your marriage and family. I recommend this book highly!

Eye-opening
This book, even though scientifically written, can't help but pull emotional strings. It actually makes sense of the pathological means with which abusive parents treat their children, and how they rationalize. It also shows how this phenomenon has embedded itself into our culture.

Excellent portrayal of feelings experienced in sexual abuse
Excellent portrayal of feelings experienced by a child who has been sexually abused by her own father. I have used this book for sexual abuse prevention programs conducted for fifth-graders, and they were very engaged by the narrative. I wish this book were in all middle school libraries, so that children experiencing this same loneliness and pain would be empowered to reach out for help. Written in a sensitive, non-graphic manner, the message in this book is encouraging and hopeful. Special bonuses are the almost poetic voice and imagery and the outstanding illustrations. Highly recommended!

A tender and loving tribute to a remarkable woman
"Looking After: A Son's Memoir" is as loving a tribute as I can imagine. It is a blend of joy and sorrow as Mr. Daniel's remembers and shares his caring for his dying mother. I have mentioned this book to friends who have also cared for dying parents and each person to whom I gave the book found in it a companion. It is a wise and honest book. As the pages progress, I had the sense that Mr. Daniels was growing more clear as to who his mother was, and in doing so loved her all the more. He lets her go at the end, with gratitude for a life well lived.

The next giant step in the development of fatherhood!
In "Marathon Dad" (Avon Books, 1998) John Evans details the next giant step in the devlopment of fatherhood. Much effort has gone into the attempt to better connect men to their emotional lives. And equal energy has been invested in establishing appropriate limits for male behavior. But seldom, if ever, has there been a more detailed and concise attempt to integrate the reality of modern maleness with the passionate and heartfelt viccisitudes of fatherhood. In sparkling prose that reflects an intimate familiarity with the daily dramas of parenting, Evans takes on the ego-wobbling fears at core of modern dad's hesitancy to attach as much importance to diaper changing as slo-pitch softball; fear of confronting mom; fear of the mockery of other men; fear that in this domain, as in so many others, he will not be man enough. Evans provides the foundational gridwork upon which a strong structure of competent fathering can be built. When Freud was asked what mattered in life he responded, "Only two things - love and work." Evans amply demonstrates that the time has passed when the American man can in good conscience sacrifice one for the other. "Marathon Dad - Setting a Pace that Works for Working Fathers" is above all a book about love - a father's love for the most precious work he will ever share; his family.

Excellent, Brilliantly simple for kids & adults
As a pre-school teacher i just love to use this book in class. This is such an excellent book, and real life pictures in simple books for two's and up are still quite rare. Why are we so scared to use REAL LIFE photography ? My kids can relate to the photos as kids & mom's they see every day! This is the perfect gift for mothers to be and new mothers alike. Well priced too & they'll keep it forever. I've bought three copies upto now and I keep finding new friends to give it to. I'm now waiting for a Dad's book !
