Excellent book for children of any age
I purchased this book for my two grandchildren, ages 1 year, and 3 years. I had it sent to my address so I could read it before mailing it to them. It is truthful, easy to understand, even for the very young, and exquisetly illustrated. It tells of the love of Jesus Christ for us. My daughter-in-law wrote to me, that my grandchildren love it, and she reads it to them before bed, and during the day when the 1 year old naps, the 3 year old trys to read it to my daughter-in-law. I recommend this book highly for those who want to teach their children about our blessed Savior. The book is truly outstanding, and a treasure for years to come.

Highly recommended!
This beautiful little book is a great tool for a parent who wants to give a young child an understanding of who God is, why Jesus came to the world, and what one needs to do to receive Him into his or her heart. Small words are used, but the concepts seem to be straight on and orthodox, with each page ending with a Bible verse. Also, I must say that Pam Rossi's large and colorful illustrations add just the right touch to the book!

This book is a great gift for parents and their children. I sat down with my two little ones, and we went through it together. I really love this book, and so do they. I highly recommend this book to anyone with some children or grandchildren!

a must have
This book helped me teach my children about Jesus and the wonderful gift of Salvation. The pictures are simple and they grabbed the attention of my two boys. John MacArthur did a wonderful job of descibing in words how kids need the gift that only Jesus can give.

Another Great Book by Wendy Froud!
Wendy Froud is the wife of Artist Bryan Froud ( Good Fairies, Bad Fairies). She is a great artist and this book reflects her abilities, the books has pictures of the dolls she created for the story. The pictures say a thousand words. If you are a doll maker, you will greatly enjoy this book. The story is good but the pictures are better. It has different kind of trolls, fairies and wizards. If you love fantasy you will love the book.

Magical tale
This is an extremely beautiful book. With Wendy Froud's doll making skills and Terri Windling's magical story weaving, teamed up with Brian Froud well, it sounds too good to be true. This follow up to "A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale" did not disappoint.

Sneeze, our beloved hero from the first book, is again teamed up with his friend Twig for a quest to find out why Winter has not yet reached their forest. Again they encounter many characters, in which Wendy's dolls never fail to amaze me. She is so incredibly gifted. I would like to show this book to anyone who does not appreciate winter as a season, because while it's not the "moral" of the story...it takes a look at winter as being the season for rest so that everything can be reborn in the spring. It tells a magnificent tale.

Not only is it a wonderful book to read and enjoy, but it's a treasure to put up on the shelf or coffee table for looking at again and again.

It just gets better!
Terri, Wendy, and Brian have done it again! Teaming up again to send Sneezle, the beloved hero of "A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale," on another adventure, the Frouds and Windling masterfully create a mythical world that defies the pages the story is written on. Using photographs of dolls created by Wendy Froud in settings built in the Froud's garden studio, the characters literally step from the pages. Fresh and exciting, Windling's writing brings new life to old folklore, bringing the faeries and goblins of Dartmoor out of their hiding places, at least for a little while, for us to see. A treasure to keep, with plenty to share, this is a wonderful read for the self and the wee ones!

Babysitting Success!
This is an adorable picture book. I was babysitting for a very restless four-year-old and was having difficulty getting him to sleep. I took out of stack of books to calm him down and he picked this one up right away. After reading this story, he insisted that I read it again! I ended up reading it to him three times, and he said he enjoyed it much more than the other books we had read that night. When he was leaving, he asked me, "Could you please order that book for me?!" Shutta Crum has a very special talent as an author, and does an excellent job writing for the young audience of 'Fox and Fluff'.

The Tale of an Unlikely Pair.....
"One evening a little white egg bounced off a farm cart and cracked open. Out hatched a fluffy round chick, just as Fox was coming along the path. Fox thought, What's this? A snack! Chick thought, Who's this? Papa?" So begins Shutta Crum's heartwarming story of an unlikely duo. Fox can't eat someone who calls him Papa, so he tries to lose this little feathered pest, but Fluff is attached to his big, strong "Papa", and every time Fox turns around, there's Fluff tagging right along. All the animals in the forest find this situation hysterical. Poor Fox is losing his vicious reputation, the rabbit, mouse and frog aren't afraid of him anymore, and so he does the only thing he can think of to get out of this awkward Papa situation. He takes Fluff to the farm and leaves him at the henhouse. Fox thought life without Fluff would set everything right again. But he didn't count on missing the little fellow..... Ms Crum's gentle text begs to be read aloud and shared, and is rich in wit, humor, and energy. John Bendall-Brunello's captivating illustrations are bold, bright, and expressive, and each page is filled with endearing characters and playful details. With its clever happily-ever-after ending, Fox And Fluff is an engaging preschool crowd-pleaser that shouldn't be missed, and works well with Judy Hindley's Do Like A Duck Does.

F is for FUN!
Fox is the biggest, baddest guy on the block...until fiesty Fluff hatches, imprints on Fox, and starts emulating his reluctant father figure. Peep by peep, Fluff chirps his way into Fox's heart...and the reader's! It's hard to find books that support a vegetarian lifestyle without bopping you over the head with their message, but this is one vegetarian book you can sink your teeth into. WIth adorable art by John Bendall Brunello, this story is destined to become a favorite for meat and plant eaters, alike!

In whose best interest? : one child's odyssey, a Nation's responsibility
Published in Unknown Binding by Continental Press ()

New understanding
Dr. Seita's book has helped me to understand the youth that I come into daily contact with on my job. This book gives insight into what these youth experience and how they feel. It truly is inspiring and thought provoking. No kid is a "lost cause."

I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Seita in the past and I look forward to reading his future books.

Reclaiming Unreclaimable Kids
The author draws on his own experience as a troubled, fatherless youth who was removed from his alcoholic mother and experienced a dozen failed cour-ordered placements in foster care and institutional settings. Today, this former troubled youth holds a doctorate and is an expert on resilient youth. Dr. Seita reflects on the process of reclaiming adult-wary, rebellious youth and provides a blueprint for success with these challenging young people. He writes this book with co-authors from Starr Commonwealth, the treatment program where John turned his life around. To those who propose that troubled youth should be discarded through policies of zero tolerance and harsh punishment, Seita's book speaks with pround moral authority. This book will be equally meaningful to any professional and lay readers who are open to the message that even our most troubled youth can be redeemed.

Good book
Good textbook for people working in residential care with children removed from the homes of their parents. This book shows the pain of children and the dedication of professionals.

Learning All the Time
Published in Hardcover by Perseus Publishing (1989)
Author: John Caldwell Holt
Amazon base price: $15.90
Average review score:

metaphors of education
The book includes three common metaphors that rule, unconciously, the way educators think and act in schools. Understanding these three metaphors is a necessary step towards changing the education system.

The myth of education, the truth about learning
In clear, direct language, Learning All the Time describes the crucial difference between learning (making sense of the world)and education (being forced to digest and regurgitate what someone else dictates). Without vitriol, John Holt exposes how our children are harmed more than helped by institutional schools. He shows how all children are natural and gifted learners and how educational systems frustrate and fracture their innate curiosity about the world. His insights, ideas, and experiences show how to support children as they teach themselves. I wish I'd had this book when my child was born.

The un-how-to book on unschooling
Unschooling cannot be attained through recipes of course, since every child and family is different. But Holt thoughtfully and sensitively manages to share his devotions and insights about learning, children and life in general so clearly that even the most hesitant parent can gain confidence in hir and hir child's ability to unschool.

The book is a collection of essays about many facets of learning and educational subjects (the three R's, science, music). Holt's profound observations help not only to understand how children tackle these subjects but also to gain a better understanding of these subjects ourselves.

Highly recommended for anyone involved in education.

What a great book.
If you had a less than perfect Mom, this book is a keeper. I found it very helpful in sorting through my childhood and moving forward with my future.

Help for the Mom impaired
I hit a point in my relationship with my mother where I realized something was terribly wrong. This book was recommended to me by a friend and was incredibly helpful in a time when I needed help. It pinpointed the type of mom I have and the feelings I feel now and felt in my childhood. It also gave practicle tips on how to make things better in your life and tools to deal with your relationship with your mother. It totally validated the feelings I've had and gives me hope that I can have healthy relationships with others.

Excellent starting point in achieveing self-awareness.
Written with much compassion. It is not a mom-bashing book. If a reader is looking for someone to blame for his/her life, this is not the book to read. Writers are insightful in how our moms' interactions with us have influenced us and shaped how we view ourselves and relate with others. The writers explain that our moms continue to influence us, well into our adulthood, whether or not we continue to have contact with them. The writers are careful to explain that our fears and hopes have their origins in our relationships with our moms. Most importantly, the writers give guidelines, based on practical and Biblical concepts, to healthier living despite extended dysfunctional relationships with our moms. The writers are realistic about the difficulties their readers may face with such challenge. They exhibit empathy in their certainty that self-awareness and healthy living could be ultimately achieved.

Not for the beginner cook
I first viewed this book in-store and fell in love with the pictures and the luscious sounding food. A few weeks later I ordered a copy and immediately began using it. With a couple of exceptions, everything I've made from this cookbook has been a little off, flavor-wise. Although I still love this cookbook, I use it as more of a guide, since I know I will have to make some modifications in order for the food not to be bland. I do not recommend this book for anyone who is somewhat uncomfortable in the kitchen or just learning to cook. With the blandness that I've found in many of the recipes, an inexperienced cook may believe they've done something wrong or be afraid to experiment. But if you love having a basic recipe and then making it your own, I would recommend this, as it has definitely helped me cook more healthy foods.

Fantastic healthy recipes...but watch that pepper!
The Mayo Clinic Cookbook was given to me as a gift from a friend who also loved it. The recipes have comprehensive nutrition analyses, and a color picture of every dish showing the individual portion size. This is very helpful, you can browse through and see what you're in the mood for. Their preparation times don't seem to correspond to a home kitchen, I wouldn't rely on them. The recipes are all very tasty, but I have found that the assortment of spices they use are very limited. They use black pepper to an extreme. I no longer use a recipe straight from the book without analysing the spices they suggest first. Changing the flavoring with different spices does not affect the nutritional value of the recipe, it just allows you to adapt the flavor to your individual palate. I have been able to control my blood pressure, reduce my blood cholesterol, lose weight, and save money, all by using this cookbook exclusively for three months. Try it. I'm back here to buy three more to give to friends this Christmas!

Awesome!
I accidentally got this book through a book club. I dreaded a "healthy" cookbook. As I flipped through, every full color photo looked more delicious than the last. I have made more than 15 or 20 of the recipies in this book. I have only made one thing that I didn't throughly enjoy! The sidebars of helpful tips and informtion about foods you thought you knew are excellent! The vegetarian dishes are also loved by my hard-to-please vegetarian sister! Nothing is bland as you would fear. Everyone always wants to know "what smells SO good" when I cook using these recipies. My book is falling apart from use, and it is not even a year old, yet! Highly recommended!

The Shrine at Altamira

A powerful, painful excursion
I have just finished reading "The Shrine.." for the second time. The first time, I cried, my mouth fell agape with shock and I felt pinned by some kind of unexpressable anger. The tears and emotional upheaval were absent upon the second reading (I had recently finish Bret Easton Ellis' "Glamorama"-a gory, macabre tale that surpassed "Shrine's most heinous moments), but that does not mean I was not again affected. L'Heureux may not wow with his language, but he does give us terrific character insight. No character ran full-circle here. Instead, the evolution was constant, as situational changes spark change in humanity. And we do see people in all their hideous, sensitive, symphathetic and confused forms. A stirring read.

A NOVEL THAT I COULD NOT PUT DOWN FOR A SECOND!
John l`heureux one of my faverite authors has once again created another spellbinding novel. A harrowing horrifying novel dealing with the darker side of love and it`s tragic effect on young people. This novel is beyond words its simply a must read for any John L`Heureux Fan.

there are no words
I can only say that this author's talent is beyond description... Well done and unforgettable.

Transactional Analysis 101
Superb explanations of why we become like kids again...

Not 5, but 10 STARS!!!
I swallowed this book in one afternoon -- an afternoon when I was not age regressed! Since most of America LIVES in a state of age regression, this is a hard book to come to open, and even harder to finish, if in that state. That may partly explain less-than "successful" sales.
But, if readers DO calculatedly read it from a healthy state, the awarenesses gained of the states of age regression are incredible.
Get this book and, when on a vacation or rainy weekend, when things are "calm" (and particularly if you are alone), read it. Watch what happens.
John Lee preaches what he practices: yes, he still age regresses. He told me so. But he is aware of it when it happens and manages it. This book showed me how to do the same.
It can for you, too...

Never too old
Having been trained in psychology, I am familiar with theories of regression. John Lee brings this concept down to such a practical and real level that I found myself changing without even trying. If you are stuck in patterns of behavior that you know aren't helping, this should provide some real understanding of how to get unstuck. Even my wife of 32 years has commented on the changes in me. I am buying 2 more copies, to give to my adult children. I hope they don't have to be stuck as long as I was.

Beautifully illustrates the love of God through a parent.
The text rhymes beautifully. It's soothing. My one year old smiles as I read it to her. The story illustrates God's love in a simple, straight-forward way making it easy for little minds to understand.

I Love You This Much
My 3 young daughters and I love this book. It's a beautifully written story. The illustrations are lovely. And, best of all, it comes with a cassette that has the entire story sung as lyrics to a lovely, lovely tune. I brought it to Sunday School to share with the preschoolers, and they were mesmerized through the entire storytelling session. As they listened to the song, they obviously found the tune very catchy and they joined in and sang the refrain without any prompting. This is a really special book accompanied by a really special song.

Pulls your heart strings
I purchased this book for my Grandson & Granddaughter. It was performed live at his pre-Kindergarten program at his church school by a young mother and her daughter. Now my grandchildren listen to the tape in their Daddy's car all the time and love reading the book. When they say, "I Love You This Much", they spread their arms wide apart, you get caught in a bear hug squeeze. Just wonderful.
