A Lighter Encyclopedia
This books shows you the lighters and gives a history of the lighter company. Many lighters. It doesn't give values of lighters, but its practically an encyclopedia on lighters..

Not only for lighter collectors
Ad's book includes phantastic photography and an interesting concept regarding matching the things. The focus is not the jewel stuff one can always find in such books. It is the reflection of pure fascination of lighters, their history, function and the thrill of fire making history. Most important is the fact that the book adresses to the NON-collector as well as to the collector but more to the former. People that do not know anything about the subject will be fascinated by it. Although I am a collector I always read it again and again.

A complete and fantasic information about lighter history
A must for every collector.

Little Maid of Narragansett Bay (Little Maid Series)
These books are REALLY good. Alice Turner Curtis has the remarkable ability to be able to blend delightful, historically accurate plots with an old fashioned charm and morality.

I read this series as a child, and I was very happy to see them reprinted, and keeping the all the lovely illustrations intact, too. Now I can buy them when I have children, continuing the tradition.

I Lived on Narragansett Bay
I read the complete set of books as a young girl. Fifty years ago, I found them in the Warwick Public Library, yellowed, loose-leafed, dog-earred, but very interesting. Imagine my delight when I learned they were being reprinted. Presently, I am buying them for my granddaughter. Having performed some genealogical research, I find that Colonel Barton, who captured General Preston in this story, was a distant relative of mine. I went to church in the meeting house at Warwick. It still stands. I have no reason but to believe that Alice Turner Curtis, the author, researched her books well, and that her writtings have historic happenings supporting them. Give to all the female 9-10-year-olds and enjoy them yourself. They may lack sophistication for many 11-12 year-old girls of today, but read them to your child or grandchild and establish a bond. These make excellent gifts to "young maids."

Excellent book.
This book told about the Revolutionary War through the story of 11 year old Penelope Balfourd, who lives on a farm on Rhode Island with her mother and older brother Ted while her father fights in the American army. Penelope is determined to do something for her country. She manages to deliver a message to the American army. Because of her message a British officer is captured. I really enjoyed this book.

Excellent book ! Wonderful folkart designs.
I think all quilters should own this book. The directions are easy and include both rotary and template patterns. The pictures of the finished designs are vibrant and beautiful. I taught a beginning quilting class and we used this as our "textbook". Many of the quilts featured can be completed in just a few hours. Also, my favorite part of the book is how the quilts are shown on display. These pictures offer great decorating ideas.

A great first quilting book
This was the first quilt book I ever bought and dozens of books later, I still think it is one of the best I own. The authors make quilting fun, not intimidating, and provide instructions so clear and simple that a child could follow them. Better yet, their style is very distinctive--elegantly simple, with beautiful color choices, and lots of pictures showing how to use the quilts to decorate your home. If you long to see what quilting is about, but don't quite trust your skills or taste, try "Little Quilts." You will learn confidence as well as skills...and everyone will love your quilt.

Inspiring for beginers!
I loved the easy to use instructions and the colorful examples. I really enjoyed the course I took given by the authors, Alice Berg, Mary Ellen Von Holt and Sylvia Johnson, in Norway. Thank you for your inspiring book. This is a definite must have book on any quilters shelf/night stand.

The Mark of the Cat
This book is short, and what is there deserves five stars. However, the story feels unfinished. Hynkkel, rejected to the role of servitude by his family and despairing over the murder of his pet cat, is forced into a manhood ritual by his father. He emerges from this test of survival with a new grace and self confidence and new friends, including a feline, but still finds himself on the outskirts of society. He is dismayed when he is seemingly forced into a new and surprising path. Just when the Essence smiles upon him and he appears to be a winner, the book ends with more questions than answers in the reader's mind. Once again Andre Norton's writing is superb. Hopefully, there will be a sequel, otherwise the book is as unsatisfying as decaf.

Where is the sequel?
this story was about a young boy, who defying all odds and with a little magic came out as emperor, however the evil was not totally overcome. So Andre Norton, one of my favorite authors. I ask where is the sequel?

Initial Fantasy
One of the first fantasies that I read and I have to say one of the best. I felt that the story could have continued but I think it was still a good book.

So easy cooking
My kids love to bake the simple and tasty treats out of this book all by themselves.

Really Great Kids Cookbook!
I have purchased several children's cookbooks recently, but this book has by far been the one we have used the most! It is really easy to use and has some very cute recipes in it. Everything is easy for the children to make and it all has been very good to eat. The cute little Alaskan themed names are unique as well. I highly recommend this book!

Alaska Kidsnacks Cookbook
I'm a media specialist and I used this book for my first grade's Alaska Day held in the media center. I used several recipes for a cooking station that the students visited. They loved making the recipes because they were fun, easy, and had Alaskan names. They especially loved the snack-- Denali Peaks. Since the snacks are named after geographic locations, it was a great way to integrate a geography lesson, too. After we made the snacks, first graders located the town or region that the snack was named on a map. Kudos to the creator of this wonderful cookbook which makes a wonderful teaching resource on Alaska!

Mosby's Paramedic Refresher and Review: A Case Studies Approach
Published in Paperback by Year Book Medical Pub (August, 1999)
Authors: Alice Dalton and Richard A. Walker
Amazon base price: $29.95
Average review score:

A Great Refresher and a Wonderful Tool for Educators
This book is written in a case study format that helps practicing paramedics and paramedic students focus on the presenting signs and symptoms of various illnesses and injuries. In addition to that, each case is followed by a number of questions that one can use to study each illness or injury that is covered in the text. Having been a practicing paramedic for almost a decade, I have found that this book is a great way to refresh some of the "not so common" things we in EMS may be called upon to see in a refreshing, new way. I used this book to prepare for the National Registry of EMT's Advanced Level Exam Oral stations and found it to be wonderful. I'd recommend it highly as a source for teaching scenarios for EMS educators as well.

Mosby's Paramedic Refresher and Review - Great Review!
This is an excellent refresher/review for Paramedics. I like it especially since it teaches/refreshes by giving about 50 patient scenarios. You get to do the assessment, then flip the page and see how well you have done. What is also cool is that the book provides a follow-up paragraph that describes the final outcome for the patient.

Good Review
This is good to review for your paramedic test, even if this is your first time. It has a little review at the begining of each section and then it tells a case and asks questions with the answers on the next page. I think it is a good book.

Nueva Internacional No. 5: El Imperialismo Norteamericano Ha Perdido LA Guerra Fria
Published in Paperback by Pathfinder Press (February, 2001)
Authors: Jack Barnes and Mary-Alice Waters
Amazon base price: $15.00
Average review score:

No. ¿Porqué?

Pathfinder Press Was Born with the October Revolution: A Publishing House for Working-Class Fighters That Lets Revolutionary Leaders Speak in Their Ow
Published in Paperback by Pathfinder Press (NY) (January, 1988)
Author: Mary-Alice Waters
Amazon base price: $8.00
Average review score:

World Change Topic of This Publisher
Mary-Alice Waters outlines why Pathfinder Press is truly unique in the publishing world, because its "starting point has always been what is needed by those fighting to change the world, not what will sell in the market place."
I recommend this work because it describes the importance of a publishing house dedicated to fighting workers and explains how this idea was born with the 1917 October Revolution in Russia.
"The best materials Pathfinder publishes are those produced in the heat of battle," Waters says and outlines Pathfinders' scope, from Malcolm X and Fidel Castro to Pathfinders' number one seller, The Communisty Manifesto.

A Revolutionary Publisher in NYC,USA
Pathfinder Press is much more than a "small","radical" publisher. Pathfinder was the first to publish Fidel Castro's speeches in English in the US in the early years of the revolution for use by the Fair Play For Cuba Committee. It published Malcolm X's speeches, unexpurgated, along with The Militant newspaper, when no one else would. These works are in print to this day. This pamphlet explores Pathfinder's history as a fighting, working class publisher back to its beginnings with the activities of the first U.S. supporters of the Bolshevik Revoluttion.,through to the publishing of the record of the fight by the Russian revolutionary leader Leon Trotsky for Marxist policy and action against the Stalin murder machine and against fascism, to today's distribution of Pathfinder books and pamphlets by socialist industrial workers and youth at mine portals, factory gates, and college campuses.

read this speech, read these books, join us!
Thousands of workers, youth, intellectuals and students have struggled to build Pathfinder press, to expand its sales, editing, printing. We do this because in Pathfinder the struggles of Lenin, Trotsky, Che, Malcolm X, Maurice Bishop, Rosa Luxembourg, Thomas Sankara, Mother Jones, and many other working class, women, and national liberation fighters Pathfinder publishes have not died, but continue and deepen. This pamphlet is a speech given in Havana by Pathfinder Press's publisher, Mary Alice Waters, that explains this history and this struggle. Through it we see that the October revolution has not died in the cesspool of Soviet Stalinism, but lives in the revolution in Cuba, in the fights workers are waging around the world against the US-UK war against the people against Afghanistan, in the struggle to build and expand Pathfinder. Read this speech, read these books, join us!
