Kites in folklore and history, briefly, with instructions.
Mr. Evans' book takes a refreshing look at the history of kites in both fact and folklore. Various cultural origins of kites are discussed as are the uses to which they have been pressed throughout history and across many cultures. These "lessons" are intermixed with culturally diverse folk tales and a great modern "crush" story. Manufacturing instructions for three different kites, basic flying instructions and a great student bibliography round out the book. Beautiful photographs and truly outstanding illustrations by Ms. D'Arcy add greatly to the stories and history. This book is now integrated into my team's middle school unit on Laurence Yep's "Dragonwings" and kite-making.

For The Woman Over 50
Since the book is rather older, some parts...how to dress, etc. are themself "dated". However, I absolutely LOVED the rest of this book. If you're now 50ish or approaching it...I recommend you beg, borrow or steal this book! : )

Wonderful resource for teachers!
I feel this is a book all teachers should read, especially those just entering the education field. The author gives real-life examples of students who were having difficulties in the classroom, either by acting out or withdrawing into themselves, and how their teachers dealt with the situation. There are many wonderful and practical ideas that can be implemeted in any classroom, and could be adopted to fit individual student needs. As the counselor at my school, I am going to recommend that all of our new teachers read this book!

The Sacred as Feminine
As Adele Getty shows in this magnificent volume, the Goddess has played a far greater role in human spirituality than one might suppose at first glance. In her opening essay, Getty discusses the ancient Goddess religions and their spirituality of rebirth and regeneration. She goes on to discuss the "Patriarchal Inversion", but then demonstrates the ongoing presence of the Goddess in ostensibly patriarchal religions - for example, in what she calls "Unbidden Mariology" in the Christian tradition. The essay closes with considerations of what Goddess Religions might contribute to concerns in the modern world. The second part of the book, "Plates", and the third part of the book, "Themes", present a bewildering array of Goddess images from all over the world. One can learn a great deal about the Goddess simply from flipping through these pictures. Overall, this is a very well done synopsis of the Goddess across cultures and across time.

Doesnt really merit 5 stars, but thats how much i want
Thats how much i want you to read it. I doubt that very many people are going to read this review, but if you happen to stumble across this book by Adele Williams, I suggest (if you are a girl or woman) that you read it! Though she is often-times conservative, old-fashioned, and downright too opinionated, this book by Adele Williams is a great guide for life. Ms. Williams is a very capable woman who knows what works in order to succeed and expresses her opinions with a lot of attitude. I've never read a more enjoyable book on how to live a life. She really knows what it is to "Enjoy Being a Woman," and I am sure that all women can get something out of this read.
One last great thing about her is that she wrote in the seventies, and therefore was freer to express reverse-feministic ideas which still apply today and serve as a reminder that women don't HAVE to compete with men (though, as she concedes, they have every right and ability to). I reccomend this book for any woman looking to lead a confident, enjoyable life.

The Book Was Wonderful!
I was lucky enough to study with one of Mme. Marcus former students (a graduate of Julliard and a Carniege Hall Almuni), and the book really helped to capture a side of her I had only heard about. Plus, the interviews are wonderful!! Very insightful!

A MUST FOR PARENTS WHO ARE LOOKING FOR A BETTER WAY
This was recommended to me by my therapist when I went to her and said, "I think I'm a bad parent". I don't have very many positive role models to learn from and was just trying to do it by myself. But I was surprised to hear from the authors of this book that many parents experience what I have. I loved the examples they gave to handle every day power-control issues, temper tantrums and arguments. When finding myself in a difficult situation with my son I turn inwardly to information I heard from this cassette and it helps to keep me from doing or saying something I may regret later. Most importantly, it has helped me to learn to communicate with my child and to listen to what he is saying which has helped us grow closer.

Shop owners list what items they are looking for, so it's easy to identify places looking for your type of craft! In the back there are suggestions for how to write to the potential buyers, what to send, etc.
I used this several years ago and started selling my jewelry wholesale to a couple of stores. It was so exciting. I also consigned some of my items in Galleries. The directory is sorted by state, though all the vendors I ended up selling to were in other states.
If you are looking for places to sell your art or crafts, you MUST get a copy of this directory! You'll wish you had it years ago!
