I wasn't sure how to rate this one....
....because while it's an excellent collection by leading experts on kundalini phenomenon, some of them use their space in the book to evangelize their own particular brands of enlightenment. I've heard enough of that not to want more. Still, the book itself belongs on the shelf of students of both kundalini and Spiritual Emergence. A useful resource.

Everything Kundalini
I put this book right next to Healing the Split by John Nelson as two of the best books on Kundalini. One reason is that they both holistically look at theories, personal accounts and scientific research. They also explore individual/social relationships. Both are very well rounded and grounded books that should always available on the market!

An excellent source for the beginning seeker.
This book provides one of the broadest views on the subject of Kundalini. The various teachers provide their views and experience on the subject. It is perhaps the best book for someone to get aquainted with the concept of Kundalini. I highly recommend this book, as well as any book by Gopi Krishna.

Helps novice or experienced deer hunters in finding deer
Well written. Information is very helpful in trailing and locating deer and other animals

Must reading for the serious whitetail hunter.
This book is loaded with facts about whitetail behavior, in addition to addressing the serious questions a hunter asks him or herself after they fire a shot. It took me 35 years and forty-five deer to learn only half of the strategies for understanding deer reactions after the instant the trigger is squeezed. While a factual presentation, this book is easy and interesting to read. Makes an excellent and unusual gift to the advanced hunter who already knows the "basics". gpb

The best of its kind.
Trailing Whitetails by John Trout Jr. is the best book on the topic of recovering wounded deer that I've come across. At my NYS Bowhunter Education classes I recommend it as a "must read" for all beginning bowhunters. I have given many copies away as gifts. After 30 years of bowhunting for whitetail deer I still find myself refering back to this important book.

Nice job
Written for the "popular audience", this book has no doubt inspired many who have read it to further their studies in science or even to specialize in gravitational physics. The book is easy to follow, and the author injects a lot of history, making the book even more interesting. Examples of this include the Cavendish torsion-balance experiments, the 1670 measurement of the speed of light, and the discussions in 1796 of "dark-stars". And, considering there is no mathematics used in the book, the author does a good job of explaining curvature of spacetime and geodesics. The physics of neutron stars, pulsars, and white dwarfs, is also given adequate explanation, and the author emphasizes the use of computers in determining their dynamics. Penrose diagrams are used effectively to illustrate the properties of black holes, a fairly lengthy discussion, the result of which is to make what use to be the playful fantasies of science fiction writers become accepted science. Wormhole engineering and time machine constructions are unshamedly expounded upon, with careful caution by the author that such ideas are not yet practical......not yet.

Best Book I have ever read!
This is a very informative and interesting book. It is fun to read and you can learn alot from it. I would definitely suggest buying it.

Read it! You'll like it!
This is my all time favorite popular book written by a real physicist. In my opinion, it's better than Hawking's "Brief History of Time" because it not only explains the pretty well known areas of physics (black holes and such), but goes beyond this into such abstract ideas as wormholes and several interesting ways that nature might just allow time travel. It plays with your imagination the whole way through.

Trusting God's character enables you to fulfill your calling
There are hundreds of books om leadership. This book is based on a man who overcame death threats, political intrigues, cowardly followers and yet worked as a key player in a team. The results are still discussed more than 2,000 years later. White considers the challenges faced and mastered by Nehemiah of the Old Testament.

This book contains practical lessons for today. If you are a person of influence, or hope to be one, you will find this book challenging and rewarding. It points out what you can do, and what you should let others do. It contains wisdom. What more can you expect from a book on leadership and courage?

A MUST READ!
If you're thinking about purchasing this book, stop thinking and purchase this book now! I've read a lot of leadership books and find this one to be an excellent guide.

Well well finally somthing good from Canada
Wow!! Finally a book writen in Canada that does not focus on Canadian history or any tackey story. This book is a work of art physicaly and verbely the book is thick and is like sigmond brower it has tuches of conviction which make you feel good. I read this book as a home work assignment and it is a bit preachey and the plot repeats it self a couple of times. But I got 100% because it is that well writen that I could find what I wanted Where I wanted it. If you are a young reader who doesn't have a very wide vocabularry but you want to read a good thick book. This is for you

An Awesome book for C. S. Lewis fans
Gaal the Conqueror is an amazing book. It is an allegory that is very creatively written. The part about Gaal on the altar represents that Jesus died for us on the cross and the wine of free pardon is amazingly like the unconditional forgivess of the Lord Jesus. I recommend the entire Archives of Anthropos series to any fantasy buff or Narnia fan.

Decent, but Limited Appeal
This is not a book for the average reader. Unless you are involved or very interested in the national defense structure this is not a book that will appeal to you. Keeping the Edge is an anthology of defense analysts deliberately attempting to influence the opinion of the then-incoming administration of President Bush at the beginning of 2001. The authors and editors are very up front about this, seeing the beginning of the Bush presidency as the optimum time to effect their recommended changes in policy, structure and management of the defense structure.
This is a book about the "Big Picture." When logistics are discussed here it is not the variations, trials and tribulations of projecting logistic support to Marines from Over The Horizon support ships, it is the very methods of procurement at the national level, used by the Department of Defense. When intelligence is the topic they are not discussing templated enemy positions and the "most dangerous" course of action of an enemy regiment, they are talking about reform of intelligence collection procedures and organizations at the CIA/NSA/DIA level. For most readers, for that matter for most anyone outside of the Washington, D.C. beltway this may be interesting, but difficult to follow.
If, however, national defense issues and structural reform at the national level is your cup of tea then this book is for you. Inhabitants of the various military-focused think-tanks in the Washington, D.C. area will certainly want a copy. The majority of the recommendations, even when they are not earth-shattering, do appear well reasoned and rational. If the Marine Corps and the Rapid Deployment Forces of the Army are the "tip of the spear" then this is a book about what makes that spear lethal. After all, a spear without a long pole attached is merely a knife. It takes the weight of that spear shaft to impart the energy to allow the spear tip to penetrate and kill. The authors are trying to make that shaft better, something not often addressed.

Change or Fail!
Here's a cold dose of reality that will shock moribound, parochial, tortoise-like bureaucrats in the military, intelligence community and within the ranks of civil service. Carter has assembled a host of brilliant, experienced and innovative thinkers, backed by their successful personal resumes, and has created a useful guide for necessary change within government. The author and other contributors resoundly articulate what the innovative, aggressive, forward looking and frustrated military and civilian memebers of the defense, executive and intelligence communities have been advocating since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Hopefully, several of the contributors will be confirmed for administration positions, and despite gravity, complacency and down-right bureaucratic fear, actually begin the inertia of needed change within the defense, intelligence and civil service bureacracies.

The most unique and most copied potter in the world.
This book has marvelous images of just some of the fine works that George Ohr created. The summaries of his life are correct to some extent but it failed to provide any deatails of his offspring or how they may have carried on the innate artist abilities, this is why I only give it four stars.

the most amazing book of pottery I have ever seen!
this man was a a head of his time. i have never seen anythig that has come out of the 1800's that looked any thing like this. The photography is great and the biography is good , but the pottery is the best i have ever seen he had great form and great glaze you could not ask any more from a potter

Tracing history back through time
With each book of his "Archives of Anthropos," John White weaves a better story, making up for the fact that the writing is a bit plain in style. In this book, we get to travel back in time, rather than forward, and learn more of the history that makes Anthropos so interesting.

Excellently written Christian fantasy
I read this when I was in grade school the first time around, and thought it was decent. It wasn't until I decided to read it again recently that I realized what a truly well-written book this is! Honestly, this book is a lot closer to the quality of C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia" than I realized. I would also compare this writing to many of Stephen Lawhead's works.

White's writing is solid, well-paced, and skillful, and his characters are decently well-developed. He works the message of the gospel (as well as some solid Christian-living principles) in the story with a delicate touch, although at no point is the book preachy, dogmatic, or cheesy.

I was very happy with the quality of writing to be found in this book (NOT a common occurrence in christian fiction), and plan to read the rest of the series.

Love'd the whole set....
John White's "The Sword Bearer" is not only a great book, but it's the start to a great series of books... I wish I wouldn't have read this series only because now I want to read them all over again!

A vision of Africa that has disappeared
J.A. Hunter was one of the top professional hunters of his time (See White Hunters by Brian Herne), and he has written several books. This one was his first, and it is obvious that he improved his writing style over the course of writing. A frustrating aspect to this book is his sudden divergence of topics. Further, as another reviewer has said, there are not many dates for events, and he does not always set the scene as well as he does in future books. In addition, his subsequent books display a dry, ironic humor that this book lacks. Nonetheless, it is obvious he knows his topics very well. The stories are fascinating - especially his reasons to not use an elephant carcass for lion bait. His advice for guns (especially calibres) and their maintenance, while not endorsed by everyone, is fascinating as he demonstrates his reasoning and experience on the subject. All in all, I would certainly recommend the book for someone looking to read about an Africa when the game was plentiful and laws were not. But for someone without as much exposure to either Mr. Hunter or this genre, I would suggest some of his other books, notably 'Hunter', to begin.

Good reading about hunting in Africa
This book is a quite enjoyable read about Mr. Hunter's hunting exploits in Africa. He takes great care in describing the enjoyment to be had and the danger of Africa's fauna. The style is somewhat chatty, but it fits the subject matter and his particular presentation. Unfortunately, there are no dates in the text, but my guess is that it describes a period from the 1920's to 1950's. Overall, it is fun reading and I look forward to reading his other books.

Please Read
This book is written not only by a great hunter, but also a man who loved the game he pursued.John Hunter is aman that did not always like killing the animals he pursued ,but being a gameranger at times there was no choice.I have purchased alot of books on hunting in africa by people like Bell,Capstick,Ruark and many more, but Hunter is one of the best writers yet, so if a good afari book is what you want please read this one.
