What a wonderful book!!!!!
My 4 year old twins received this book as a gift. It is so wonderful. We have already read through it twice!!! They have learned so much and look forward to reading it everynight. The games, songs, questions are all very fun for them. They also say the verse with me.

From the Author
Perhaps the most popular saint of all, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, has come to be known by innumerable titles of devotion-some lists include more than six thousand titles-reflecting her many qualities. Some people call her the Blessed Mother. Others, the Blessed Virgin Mary-BVM for short-or the Virgin, Our Lady, or, simply, Mary. From Ark of the New Covenant to Virgin of Tenderness, from Our Lady of All Nations to Queen of Peace, this proliferation of titles reflects the different ways people relate to Mary.
Calling upon Scripture, the writings of the early Church, the pronouncements of the saints, papal statements, and recent biblical and theological scholarship, 100 Names of Mary provides historical and theological explanations of the origins of one hundred of Mary's most popular and intriguing names from around the world and across the Christian millennia. Each of the names also includes both traditional and newly written prayers of intercession to Mary that reflect the particular charisms of her titles. Together with an inspiring new Litany of Mary, the stories and prayers in this book provide a portrait of Mary
as mother, companion, disciple, apostle, and advocate who continues to guide the people of God on the path to holiness.

The story of a four-generation family of women
Four Zinas: A Story Of Mothers And Daughters On The Mormon Frontier is the story of a four-generation family of women who shared many things in common, foremost of which was the name Zina. Zina Baker Huntington converted to Mormonism in New York in 1835. Her daughter, Zina Huntington Young married Joseph Smith, and upon his death, married Brigham Young and served as the Mormon Church's general Relief Society President. Then her daughter, Zina Young Card assisted her husband, Charles Ora Card, in founding Cardston, Alberta, Canada. And in time, her daughter, Zina Card Brown married future Mormon church apostle Hugh B. Brown. Four Zinas is the fascinating story of how this extended family helped to shape their respected eras within the Mormon community. Zina Young and Zina Card worked tirelessly for woman's suffrage, encouraging women to study nursing and become involved in industry. All of the women promoted drama and literature, inspiring others through their speeches and expressions of spirituality (including the Mormon custom of "speaking in tongues". These were women who enabled Mormon women to feel good about themselves, and in the process, made their frontier worlds welcome places to establish families and enjoy life. Four Zinas is very highly recommended for women's studies, American frontier studies, and Mormon history studies reading lists.

Alibi for Isabel

Fine old fashioned short stories
These short stories were written during WWII, and obviously the shadow of war lies in the background, with men leaving for Europe or South Pacific, and women working for their country, or just waiting for the men to come back. And with a bit of crime and murder everywhere. It's a medley of classic criminal detection, with the hard-boiled policeman (but with a heart like that!) and crime+love stories full of tenderness. A bit old-fashioned, of course, but so agreable to read and enjoy : the heroine always needs a man to help her, and generally falls in love with him, but why not ? Of course, the end of the short story "alibi for isabel" is'nt what we expected, but that's fine : heroines by Mary R. Rinehart do'nt kill their husbands cold-blooded. Nice stories to enjoy.

Superb
There is a beauty in his words unsurpassed even by Beckett himself. The reader is lifted to the stratosphere for pages on end, and then lovingly reeled back in by the author's kite-strings. Again up, and again down. Meant to be read softly outloud with someone you love.

Fun adventure into Cherokee folkfore with fabulous art
I grew up on these stories (Aunt Mary is my great aunt) and am raising my son on them from this book. Each story takes the reader/listener back into a time when animals spoke, witches lurked, and the earth was truly alive with magic. The art adds food for the imagination as Aunt Mary tells you stories of the witch--Spearfinger, how the Smokies were created and many more.
