Prince of Eden by Marilyn Harris
This is the only romantic novel that I can still remember after 15-18 years and I have read a large numbers of novels. A friend lent it to me when I was in high school and after the first few pages, I am awed by the development of the story. Marilyn Harris is a rare top-class writer whose writing skill is able to capture the interest and emotional participation of the reader. Prince of Eden is not frivolously written unlike most romantic novels with a shallow or sugar coated plot and a cinderella ending. This is a solid piece of work with substance. You will sense that the writer has put in a lot of thoughts and ingredients to make the story come alive. All the plots are intricately plan and brilliantly presented. You will be surprise to find a number of vivid and humanly interesting characters seeking your empathy in this wonderful historical novel. I believe you will be as absorbed in it like in a movie. I have never shed a tear and feel so emotional for other books except this one. It is a pity this novel is out of print.

Refreshingly different syntax, rhythm, and presentations
Hugo Walter's poetry anthologized and showcased in A Purple-Golden Renascence Of Eden-Exalting Rainbows are like an Impressionist painting: filled with color, rhythm, and a rich swirl of images. Autumn is a delicate symphony/Of soft-madrigal swallows and alumen-/Crimson nirvanas of jen-amber light. Colors are an integral part of his nature-inspired poetry, enjoy its refreshingly different syntax, rhythm, and presentations.

romantic, sensuously sweet, and adventuresome
This is a romantic historical novel about hero Adam Rutlege's growth from a North Carolina planter actively disinterested in entering politics in the mid-1760's to a devoted participant in the American Revolutionary cause who both loves his native North Carolina and loves the new country as a whole, as well as some of the western lands it will someday include. This is also a love story about Adam Rutledge and his neighbor, Mary Warden, who keeps her love secret from most people, as Adam keeps it secret for a long time even from himself, because of Adam's loyalty to his invalid wife and Mary's to the much older husband she married--apparently in name only--before meeting Adam. Adam and Mary's story, the early subplot involvign the Regulator movement that draws Adam into politics by giving him a specific group of people's problems to care about (a group that Fletcher deals with in _The Wind in the Forest_, where Adam and Mary make appearances), and the author's careful attention to details that appeal to the reader's senses, all kept me reading long stretches of this novel, sometimes when I knew that I should be reading other things for my college classes; it was only with difficulty that I made myself postpone reading the second half until catching up on class reading. I have since reread _Raleigh's Eden_ and again enjoyed it.

The search of Eden has led to an erosion of nature
The "Garden Of Eden" was a paradise lost, and mankind has spent centuries searching for it. Reinventing Eden reveals how the image and myth of Eden has actually led to further degradation of the planet, revealing its origins, its influence on political and social thought, and related issues concerning man and nature. Human manipulation of the environment in search of Eden has led to an erosion of nature: Reinventing Eden documents exactly how.

Return to eden made for tv movie
I'm not sure of the title of the book but it was made into a made for TV movie. It was on ABC, NBC, or CBS about 1983. It was about a women who was not attractive but was rich, a man courted her for her money but was secretly seeing her cousin. He married the unattractive one and they went to a kind of swamp for their honeymoon and he pushed her overboard, where a huge crocodile got her and really messed up her face. She was found on the shore by a native, who took her to the Dr. who was a plastic surgeon back in the states. He does surgery on her over a period of months and she goes back. It was a 2 part movie on TV and I only got to see the first part and have been looking for the book it was based on since then.

Short and VERY sweet
I can best describe A River Ran Out of Eden as an epic. It's a tale of courage, morals, and combatting inner demons. I would also not hesitate to call it a fable. It clearly shows how a single person can disrupt a perfect little domain. It tells the story of a family that has lived alone on an Aleutian island for years, and are perfect, until a stranger comes to the island. The plot is well-paced, there aren't many characters, but they are very well written. This book also presents the plot from every character's point of view, making it great to read. Each character has distinct problems, and I think their mishaps could easily be applied to everyday life. The symbolism is also applicable, the stranger in the book could easily symbolize modern life, and the family could represent all that is traditional. How these two concepts clash is very real, and makes a wonderful story as well.
Rivers of Eden: The Struggle for Water and the Quest for Peace in the Middle East

Much more than meets the eye
Hydrology of the Middle East may seem like a dull subject at best, but this is in fact one of the best books I've ever read (including non-fiction). Combining history and science, Hillel provides an extraordinary account of both the importance of safe water supplies and the impact that this has on modern politics. These issues may not be readily apparent to fortunate individuals who, like me, grew up without ever having to worry about obtaining water, and it may be those people in particular who will derive the greatest pleasure and benefit from this book.

A PRINCELY TALE
Robin Hood
E. Charles Vivian, Compiled by Cooper Edens
The exciting and timeless tale about "the prince of thieves" is more beautiful than ever in this special "Classic Illustrated Edition" title. As with the series' previous titles -- "Peter Pan," "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," "Pinocchio" and "Aesop's Fables" -- "Robin Hood" is illustrated with a virtual best-of variety of color and black-and-white images from a collection of archival sources. There are more than 100 splendid images in all, dating from the 12th to the 20th century and created by artists as diverse as N.C. Wyeth, Howard Pyle, Walter Crane and Honor C. Appleton. The range is considerable, the fine-detail of the works is immensely impressive, the art restoration is impeccable, and each antique image is uniquely charming. The lack of a consistent visual style is initially jarring, but quickly it becomes apparent that this inconsistency is the very source of the book's appeal, particularly for retro fans attracted to ye olde graphics. The text itself remains loyal to E. Charles Vivian's classic version of the story -- with most of the content, spelling and grammar intact from the 1906 edition, making this respectful tribute to an old masterpiece worth its weight in gold marks.
