A great book
This atlas is one of the best, if not THE best atlas on fish diseases I have ever encountered. It contains excellent color photographs regarding every crutial aspect of the described diseases. It is very friendly to use and shows/describes all the relevant differences between diseases that may seem alike. I am sure that this book will be of great help to any fish pathologist.

If you could give 6 stars, this book would have it!
This book is my all time favorite book! In the beginning it's a little hard to follow, but keep reading and you're hooked! I love how the childern are the stars of the book. The way Bruno talks is soo cute! This book touches on very natural things, but it presents them in a wonderfully different view. It has a feel to it that no other book has. The plot is there, but it's very vague so that the book is very relaxed and open-minded. If you like Sylvie and Bruno, Sylvie and Bruno Concluded is a must! My favorite part of the book is how wonderfully it concludes and leaves you perfectly content, yet a little bit of wonder still lingers. From all angles, this book is one of a kind!

German through and through
Craftsmanship is to the Germans what style is to the French, or money is to the Americans, and it shows in these books: the drawings, coated paper, printing, and so on are all head and shoulders above the competition. I would have gladly paid list price. The basic format for all the books is the same--history, followed by science and engineering, followed by examples. The translation to English is well done too.

Too bad there is nothing for the US architect of this quality, because all the technical references are to German or European standards. But they're educational nonetheless.

David has Outdone Himself...........................
David Vance has outdone himself in his second book of photography called "Attractions." I thought his first book "David Vance Photographs" was beautifully produced and the models breathtaking, but this new book of his is just as good or even better. The new models presented in this second book are once again very young, muscular & handsome masculine men. Most of these black & white images are in outdoor settings showing the men practicing sports, enjoying themselves and just relaxing. There are some models photographed indoors in very seductive poses, too, but no frontal nudity images. It's really not needed for these guys are handsome & erotic even semi-clothed. This is surely one of my favorite books in my collection and I'm sure it's a book that will be viewed over and over many times. Here's wishing David puts out another collection of his male nudes again in the very near future!

A moving meditation upon an iconic figure
"Dear Anne Frank" is a volume of poems about the young Jewish girl who, after her death during the Nazi Holocaust, became immortalized through the publication of her recovered diary. The author, Marjorie Agosin, is the descendant of European Jews who escaped the Holocaust; Agosin was raised in Chile. This is a bilingual edition, with Agosin's Spanish poems and the English translations on facing pages. Richard Schaaf is the primary translator, with additional translation done by Cola Franzen and Monica Bruno.

The book also includes Agosin's fascinating introductory essay, "Anne Frank or the Landscape Uprooted" (both in Spanish and in English translation). In this essay Agosin draws connections between the Nazi Holocaust and the atrocities committed under certain Latin American dictatorships.

Agosin's poems are somber and lean. Her voice is at times angry, at times compassionate, at times even a little wistful. She explores Anne Frank's role as young woman, as martyr, as writer, and as iconic figure. This is an important volume for those interested in Latin American literature, Holocaust studies, 20th century poetry, or Jewish studies.

Dear Everyone
Dear Bruno is an incredibly candid and honest compilation of letters that only one cancer survivor can convey to another. Despite all the medical staff in the world who may pretend to know about tests, procedures, and illness...no one can really understand without walking in their shoes. This book is for all of us who need to remember to appreciate and look forward to the wonderfully trivial things in life, while we have been given this gift called the present.

Mystery at it's best.
A New Orleans born sailor's ship left without him after a night's stop, taking all his forms of identifaction with it. He was sent all over Europe trying to find a place to stay, or another ship to sail on, but no one could help him becuase of the missing ID. Eventually the "Yorikke" comes by and picks him up. It's the infamous death ship that changes his life completely. The author, B. Traven, is one of the most mysterious authors there are to date. As a young man, he was known as Ret Marut, the publisher of an underground anarchist magazine in Germany called "The Brick Thrower". He kept his personal life a complete secret, including his name, which was changed multiple times. No one knows what the B stands for, or where the name even came from. This book is definitely one of my favorites. It takes no time at all to really get into it, and once you do, you can't put it down. It takes you on a journey across Europe with the main character, and then onto the ship. It goes into great detail once on the "Yorikke" and you really get a feeling of what the other hopeless sailors are going through. This book is really unforgetable.

Design as art

Where are you, Bruno?
I find it strange that this book is not available except for used copies printed in Canada around 20 years ago. I decided to study design after reading this book, even though I grew up being told I would be an architect or a writer.

On the visionary chapter titled "what is a designer", Munari made it clear to me that design is a much needed public and collaborative art. He wrote as translated to english in 1966: "Art is once more becoming a trade, as it was in ancient times when the artist was summoned by society to make certain works of visual communication (called frescoes)..." and keeps going. It never made sense to me that art could only be self absorption hidden in galleries, but I guess that is yet another kind of trade.

He writes with humour and honesty, and keeps me focused on my discipline. I owe Munari a great deal.
