A Must Have for the true Newfoundland Lover
This is one of the best books ever published about the Newfoundland breed. The drawings of structure and movement alone are worth the price! Great for the long-time Newf lover as well as a beginner.

Most comprehensive and enjoyable book ever about Newfs
Amazing book! As a new owner of a Newfoundland, this is my bible! It is apparent the author truly adores her dogs! Big book and covers all topics that owners may be interested in!

Excellent! Magnificent! The best of all Newfoundland books!
At last! A book that describes, quantifies and illustrates what makes the most beautiful of dog breeds beautiful. The "COMMENT REGARDING THE STANDARDS" and "MOVEMENT" chapters should become the standards themselves."One remains enraptured before a beautiful dog as one does before a beautiful painting, and one never tires of looking at him. Thus, to study the anatomical substrata of the powerful neck or the noble expression almost appears to be mixing the sacred and the profane.", Mrs. Bruno states. But she manages it, and in what way! A true expert.

The Airman and the Carpenter: The Lindbergh Kidnapping and the Framing of Richard Hauptmann
Published in Paperback by Viking Press (1986)
Author: Ludovic Henry Kennedy
Amazon base price: $7.95
Used price: $1.25
Average review score:

Well researched and wonderfully written!
An extremely well written book covering the Lindbergh baby kidnapping. I actually felt like I was right there witnessing the whole thing unfold.

This book illustrates how the media can convict the innocent
This historically accurate recount of the Lindberg baby kidnapping is OUTSTANDING! There are multiple examples of newspapers publishing bogus evidence, which in time persuaded jury members. Readers will be amazed at how an obviously innocent man was convited of a crime, then acquited after his execution. This is a TRUE CRIME book.

well documented and thought provoking book
This book deserves a wider audience and with the recent film version on HBO (CRIME OF THE CENTURY) perhaps it will get it. In this, the golden era of conspiracy theories, it is fashionable to pooh-pooh historians who question standard accounts of famous events, but Kennedy's work is so well documented and the lies told by prosecutors in the Lindbergh case so baldfaced and egregious that it is hard not to be saddened, outraged and flabbergasted at this exceedingly dark spot on the American judicial system. Almost Kafkaesque in its portrayal of a world gone mad in its desire to want so badly to believe Richard Hauptman was guilty, the actions portrayed would be funny if their consequences weren't so dire and if Kennedy didn't solidly ground them in the appropriate moral anger at those who knowingly lied in order to secure Hauptman's conviction and execution

30 top models in am absolutely dream book.
How does Gmunder manage to produce such outsanding books? OK, this one is soft-cover and glue-bound so it will need a degree of care in handling. Nevertheless, the paper is first-class, the images are bright and clear, and the layout outstanding. Another reviewer has described this book as sumptuous, and he's right.

All of these models appear in a range of images, mostly nude, but some clothed. The clothed pictures are still incredibly sexy. There are some couples and a few groups. Each model is introduced by name so you can keep track, or search the Bel Ami videos for your favourite; don't forget, though, that this is 'the book of the film', so you can hunt the Amazon sites for the video/DVD.

It's difficult to express the sheer joy that shines fron each page. These guys really are happy, and it shows. The photographer has managed to put a catchlight in every eye, and they truly sparkle. There is a cheeky sense of the child in each of the models; a sense of freedom, willingness to share (you wish!!), and exuberance.

Buy this book. You will NOT be disappointed (unless you only like to look at muscle freaks),

How nice...
A picture book of incredibly beautiful men that dazzles your eyes. A must buy for any lover of Bel Ami!!

A souvenir of a long and unforgettable summer.
Bel Ami stars Lukas, Johan Paulik, Julian Armanis, Sebastian Bonnet and Ion Davidov are among the more than 30 models featured in mostly never-before-published photographs. A full color photo album packed with the most beautiful Bel Ami models. Top printing quality and sumptuous layout.

Another wonderful book of postcards.
Shock the postman and delight your friends!

This book of postcards has photos from the Frisky Memories book (and film) and we can delight in the sumptuous array of Bel Ami models, great lighting, gorgeous skin and smiles, dazzling smiles and twinkling eyes.

A must.

A wonderful gift to yourself or a friend.
You'll love it. I know you will. I was overjoyed to be sent this as a 'Get Well' gift when I was in hospital, even though I was incapacitated by a broken, pinned shoulder. With the help of a nurse and some BluTack I was able to get a lovely display of cheering photographs around my bedhead.

That's why these books are so useful. You wouldn't want to tear up the full version of Frisky Memeories, but this collection is made for it.

Stunning models, stunning photography, stunning eyes...!

The Best Book yet
I loved this book. The pictures were great. If you only had to buy one book buy this one. With the help of Johan Paulick this is the best book ever. The only thing that could ever beat this is the video

Bruno Walter:A World Elsewhere
To say that the book "Bruno Walter: A World Elsewhere" is both a godsend and a delight would be an understatement-I cannot say enough good about this work. "A World Elsewhere" is a detailed and concise look at the conductors' life and career from birth until death-and in English.(My definite language of choice) It offers a style that is smooth and a pleasure to read and obviously involved alot of meticulous research. I have been an admirer of Bruno Walter for many years, and this biography is the perfect companion to my collection of Walters'recordings. It is an even-handed, multi-faceted depiction of the conductors' experiences. In reading "A World Elsewhere", I have learned much about the man that has enabled me to understand his life better; although the book does not go into alot of detail about Bruno Walters' connection with Anthroposophy, it has still inspired me to investigate this movement further. "A World Elsewhere" is a definite "must read" for anyone who admired Bruno Walter- a great conductor whose involvement with music touched and enriched many people's lives, and still does today.

A gentle reader opines
I probably qualify as a representative of the tribe of general readers, being mostly an interested amateur in what this book covers. As such, I found "Bruno Walter: a World Elsewhere" a very satisfying window into an era of music (and my childhood) that I was heretofore only vaguely aware of. In other words, it helped me fit together and fill out a picture of the musical and political and social history of the twentieth century, and that alone made it worthwhile.

But aside from that, it was simply great fun to read personal vignettes about so many eminent musicians, composers, conductors, and others. I found the book entertaining reading too, I mean to say--a dandy thing, in the summer (or any other time as well)!

While I may be an amateur as far as the contents of the biography go, I am also a professor and teacher of writing, and it was gratifying to find a biography written so smoothly that reading it was a pleasure, which is by no means the rule in scholarly biographies. There are notes and indeces aplenty for the scholars, but these should not dissuade the general reader--they do not get in the way in the least.

Add to this the fact that the volume is a handsomely designed one, with splendid pictures and an attractive typeface, and you have a book truly worth owning--or giving, for that matter.

Vindication for a neglected master
Finally, a full-length biography of Bruno Walter in English that devotees of his work can savor. Walter was widely recognized in his time as one of the master conductors, but his lack of flashiness, and sometimes fake air of saintliness, are off-putting to our star-obsessed age, so he hasn't received the recognition he deserves. SONY is sitting on a large back-catalog of important mono recordings by him that may never see the light of digital distribution -- or perhaps the imminent changes in music distribution wrought by the internet will eventually make it all available. Meanwhile, this very well-done, comprehensive biography will have to do. My biggest complaint is the lack of a complete discography as an appendix to the book - referring people to websites won't cut it yet, as too many folks still don't have regular internet access. Apart from that failing, this is a model of what an arts biography should be, a well-researched life, a serious consideration of issues of personal performing style, and decent pictures.

Cause, Principle, and Unity
Published in Hardcover by Greenwood Publishing Group (1976)
Author: Giordano Bruno
Amazon base price: $59.75
Average review score:

The ... Science
Giordano Bruno is not only a writer of marvelous wit and virtuosity, and the only one since Plato to breathe life into the philosophical dialogue, but also a thinker of great consequence, imagination and purity. While he is generally seen to stand at the threshold between the medieval and the modern, cabilistic magic and scientific rationality, it is wrong to regard him merely as an anticipation of Leibniz and Spinoza. In certain respects, indeed, he goes farther in freeing thought from the residues of Scholasticism, and if his understanding of the coincidence of absolute potentiality and absolute actuality as the ground of Being points the way to Schelling, the freer winds of his thinking, with its wondrous openness towards the possibilities of the body as the possibilities of life, make him a kindred spirit of Nietzsche.

A Good Look at Giordano Bruno's Philosophy
This book consists of 2 parts. The first part "Cause, Principle and Unity" is about his theory of an infinite universe. While you may either agree or disagree with him on certain points, I think (maybe you, too) will find the idea of a "world-soul" intriguing. This part consists of 5 dialogues.

The other part comprise two essays, one on magic and the other is his treatise on bonding in general. This part presents some ideas which I think would be interesting not just to magicians but anybody who wants to know and wonder, from a philosophical point of view, what magic is and bonding in general.

Any student of philosophy is likely to enjoy this book (either the first or second or both).

brilliant book in brilliant new edition
This is certainly one of the most hilarious books ever written. No philosopher has ever combined brain-busting metaphysics with slapstick comedy the way Bruno consistenly does. Bruno is known primarily as a fascinating loose cannon in the history of philosophy, but read his critique of Aristotle patiently and you will find that it has profound merits. If only more philosophy books were written in a style similar to this one!

A great Mafia book
Ben Baron is a hero the equal of Repairman Jack, The Lone Ranger, Spenser, Tony Soprano or James Bond. Here is an ordinary guy in his twenties confronted with the Staten Island mob, the Columbian drug cartel, and a karate killer. He confronts each of them to save his teenage brother, a wiseguy who ripped off their drugs.

The book is well-written, easy to understand, funny, loaded with action, mystery, irony and plot twists. The ending had me shocked. I should have seen it coming but I didn't.

I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait for the next one.

An insight to the workings of the mob
The author speaks to you and you are at his side thru the whole story. Hard to put this book down as you get pulled into the workings of the mob and you anticipate the fate of the charactors and the twists of the plot. The reader become well informed of how it all goes down and why. You will know there is more than one Godfather!

Doubly entertaining
Double Dealing is a masterful work of fiction that is doubly entertaining. With twin plots working together to a final climax rich in irony and surprises, Bruno kept me intrigued with his action packed story. I felt like Ben Baron was talking to me during the entire book, like I was right there in the room, a fly on the wall, witnessing first hand the drama and action in every scene.

My Heart Took Flight!
By giving us a bird's eye-view, THE FEATHERED CROWN takes a unique and touching look at the Nativity story. Hayles gentle, alliterative rhyme soars, as each stanza rises in meter. Pons soft watercolors compliment the text and are restful to the eye. Lines like, "They gathered bits/ of straw and sticks,/ and leaves to cushion best--/To build a home,/a manger throne,/a feather-softened nest." depict how loving mother birds may have helped another mother long ago in Bethleham. A bright addition to every Holiday collection!

Absolutely beautiful!
This is the most beautiful Christmas picture book that I've seen in a long time. The soft and meaningful words flow across the pages like ribbons of silk - and are delicious to read out loud. It's good to see a Christmas book that touchs on the true meaning of the holyday.

A Wonderful Christmas Book
I think Feathered Crown is a wondeful children's book. It is a lovely story, and the words flow so well. "The mother birds, like gentle words, took wing one wintry day." These gentle words are then further complemented by beautiful pictures. Feathered Crown is one of my family's favorite Christmas books.

Critical View
"We know Jesus Christ in so many ways. He's often, however, shrouded in the yellowed gauze of antiquity. By placing Christ in such a modern context, Tom Bruno opens a very modern passageway through which the example of Jesus seems not only a possible application for our lives, but a critical one." Devin Scillian Newscaster, Detroit Michigan & Children's Author

VERY INSPIRING
NEW YORK, This book was a great inspiration to me. It explains how Jesus lived his life and what His words mean for us and how we should live our lives. A chapter that really helped me was the one entitled "He taught Us not to Worry." Prior to reading this chapter, I would drive myself nuts worrying, I know now that worry is a lack of faith. After reading this book, I got the courage to update my resume and found a new job. As I read this book I felt God was speaking directly to me. Bruno helped me get out of my ruts and really enjoying life. I thank Bruno for helping get my life back and have a plan for my life. If you only read one book this year, this should be the one!

21st century view of Jesus
Jesus Ph.D. Psychologist is 21st Century book with new insights into the teachings on Jesus. The stories are interesting and helpful and can be applied to everyday life. the principles of Jesus are presented in a way that are clear and can be applied to our modern behavior patterns. Bruno crosses religious barriers to appeal to Christians as well as non-Christians. A book worth reading, and discussing with friends. A book that will stay with you even after you put it down.

Amazing book - but not exactly what I thought...
If this book was actually what I had been looking for, I would have given it 5 stars. However, it wasn't exactly what I had thought. It is not so much a "how-to" book as it is an illustrated diary of the artist's amazing process. This particular sculptor sculpts the entire skeleton, muscular system out to the finished sculpture you see on the front of the book. It's amazing but a little more detailed than I believe a beginner such as myself needs - I was a little daunted by the entire process but also quite in awe. The photographs are tremendous. This book would probably be better suited to students in advanced sculpture.

it's the next big thing eversince sliced bread
get it. Beat up little kids and take their lunch money to save up for it. By the way you should get it.

I Wish I Could Give It Six Stars
This book, along with the other titles in the series: "Modeling the Head in Clay" and "Terracotta," is an excellent resource for beginning sculptors. In fact, if I could buy only one book on sculpting, it would be one of these three (and most probably this one). The book is a walk-though of a single sculpture, which is instructive, but it is also a great reference. Mr. Lucchesi's style is realistic with natural poses, and quite pleasing -- it exudes peace and repose. Ms. Malmstrom has a gift for photographing and describing exactly those parts of the process most interesting to students. The medium is clay, and I'm working in wax, but I have not found this to be a problem. Be advised that it concentrates on the female figure, so an additional anatomy book may be helpful for proportioning male figures.
