Willie Wins in all areas...
The story revolves around an universal expereince of young children; however, the way it is presented in Willie Wins and its main character being of Filipino descent makes it a well worth addition to any child's and teacher's (multi-cultural) library. The illustrations are vibrant. The expressions of the characters not only capitivate the audience with its detail but clearly conveys the feelings of the characters as well. Willie wins in all areas!

Delightful and Different
This book gives readers a fun picture of Filipino culture inside a heart-warming story about a boy and his father. All kids are embarrassed by their parents at some time, and will relate easily to Willie. Readers are quickly drawn into the story, wondering - what is in the coconut bank? The ending delights and surprises. I look forward to the next book from Ms. Gilles!

Must Reading!
This book deserves 5 stars. It's well written (not "great literature" but easy to read and understand) and it's the only book on this topic I've read that addresses these issues so clearly and forthrightly without pulling punches. He's not afraid to name names at times, either.

My only hesitation at this point: My ignorance of Black history doesn't allow me to make a judgment about the accuracy of his quotations and statements, or the accuracy of the historians whose books he cites. Judging by the rest of the book, though, I would assume that he is correct in what he writes.

This book is a cry for help, a call to attention, and a sober and prophetic warning. To me, it's must reading for Evangelical pastors and churches. I intend to give a copy to our pastor (a large and largely White church) for him and the elders to read and see if it gives them insights on what's the right thing to do in reaching the minority members of our town. I gave my copy to a Black friend/pastor I know and am looking forward to discussing it with him.

It's also must reading for ANY White Christian who wants to begin taking steps on the road to racial partnership* with Black Christians.

* Note that I did not say "racial reconciliation." After reading this book, you will never use that term again, if you have been prone to use it.

Bravo, Clarence Shuler!

He counts as one of his closest friends Gary Chapman. I assume this is the Gary Chapman who wrote the LOVE LANGUAGES books. Those are excellent books, too!

This is a very realistic book written from the heart.
If you want an overview of the racial situation in America and the history leading up to where we are now, then this book is a must! Schuler describes personal experiences that are common to minorities and especially African Americans growing up in America. It also very clearly gives guidelines that anyone can follow to assist in promoting racial harmony in this county, by both African Americans and Caucasions. It is a very objective view of the racial climate in our churches today. As a pastor I can see that there is much work that needs to be done by Christians to solve this problem by beginning in the churches.

A Book for the whole family!
I read "The Adventures of Willie King" to see what it was my grandkids were going to read. My husband was amazed when I could not put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter of Willie King's adventures! I found myself being educated (what a sly intention!) and marvously entertained by the humor! Excellent choice for helping children make wise choices, a role model book we so seldom see anymore!

The Blazers win again!
Tuesday's game was great! It was so phat. I think the blazers are ill. The best part was when pippen sunk that 3 to win by 1. Bryon Russell was gaurding him but pippen faked him out and launced the long range 3-pointer from way downtown.Pippen was throwing excellent passes 2 his teammates. Stoudamire was outstanding. He was scoring 3's every 5 seconds. The book deserves 5 stars.peace.e-mail me at caseyc@adelphia.net ,or casey@krazymp3z.com , or pimpflex88@hotmail.com .e-mail me.my sn is pimpflex88 . bye.

a credible book to credit great artwork
I found this book ot be an excellent asset to my collection of modern british art. I thought that the large amount of content was covered thouroghly, but not drawn out to get stale(just like the artwork itself, discussed). This is a very important book because it recaps all of what is happening with the yBa movement in the artworld. This book is for anyone who wants to be on top of the world of modern art.

A gem about neglected gems
Movie critic Willie Waffle has produced a delightful guide for people who want to get past the "new releases" shelf at the video store and find something that may have missed the multiplex. Waffle's astonishing range and engaging descriptions make this book an indispensible reference and as much fun as the movies he writes about.
