An excellent book about the Nation of Islam
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad was the greatest Black man in America! He accomplished so much to uplift the Black man and woman in America during a time when we had low self esteem and low self image. He helped us understand who we really are, where we came from and our glorious history.

The Nation OF Islam
I think the book was very intersting amd very understanding. It tells you want the nation of Islam is about and what to undersatnd about the Nation. And tell The Honorable Elijah Mummmad was loytal to his Nation.

one of the most beautiful books i ever read
If you have come so close... order the book! It is one of the most beautiful books I ever read -- and I have read thousands and am a writer myself.
"Isfahan is half the world" is not just a wonderful boyhood tale, it is an essential introduction in to the origins of the problems of modern Iran. Sayyed Mohammad Ali Jamalzadeh was one of the major modern Iranian writers, and his father was in the eye of the typhoon of the violent reformer vs. tradionalist and laicist vs. islamist debates in Iran at the beginning of the 20th century.

Jamalzadeh ,The father of modern novel writing in Iran
He is called the founder of modern novel writing in Iran. So,his memories is useful to read.A teacher from Iran

A true Master
I could not think of a better title. The book is filled with discourses, I would have loved more but...Many spiritual healings of the heart and the mind can be found.

The book leaves you with one conclusion. You need a Shaykh to follow the path to Allah, you need a madthab to follow Sharia, and you can't use a book for either.

Wonderful!

True Sufi Master!
This is one of the best books I have read about Sufism. The letters was from a master to advice his disciples concerning the sufi path. It is informative and helpful to all who are intrested to step into the spirtual path.

Al-Arabi Ad-Darqawi was follower of the Shadhili order which was founded by the great Shaykh Abu'l Hasan ash-Shadhili.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested to know about the practical way of Sufi path.

The translation is excellent and the authour shows true insight on the subject.

The Man from the East

A Personal History of Subud
The title THE MAN FROM THE EAST comes from a statement made by J.G. Bennett describing the spiritual movement Subud: 'It is a direct experience of the power of God available through "a man from the East". It requires no teaching and there is no dogma.' When Istimah Week heard this in 1958 it proved to be the most important turning point in her life.

The book describes Istimah's subsequent inner and outer journey through life as she practised the latihan-the spiritual exercise central to Subud-and followed the advice of Pak Subuh, the founder of Subud.

Outwardly, the journey took her and her family from New York to Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia, and on world tours with Pak Subuh in 1970 and 1977. She experienced the early pioneering days of Cilandak, Pak Subuh's home near Jakarta, and its development as an international spiritual centre in the sixties and seventies.

Inwardly, the journey is her very personal experience of growth, purification, expanding spiritual awareness, difficulties and times of great joy. Throughout this period of nearly thirty years, Pak Subuh's presence and guidance were a focal point in Istimah's experience. A unique feature of her story is the inclusion of excerpts from Pak Subuh's talks to members. These provide an explanation from him corresponding to Istimah's experience at the time, a juxtaposition that offers an unusual and most useful counterpoint.

The book is short (185 pages) and its clear, open feeling makes for easy reading. It is an excellent contribution to the literature on Subud and suitable for the general public.

Readers' comments
Since 'The Man From The East' was published Istimah Week has received numerous positive comments from members of Subud and others. Here are four extracts.

A letter from a member of Subud, UK: 'I have just read your book. I enjoyed it so much! An autobiographical account is so readable, but there are so few who can do it. I am so very impressed that you can describe your spiritual experience as it relates to your life-no theorizing. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your story, for writing so expressively and for the help it will be to Subud members and for those who through it will discover Subud.'

A magazine review by a member of Subud, California: I have just finished 'The Man From The East'. I found the language and style of writing compelling. I found the description of the writer's experiences easily understood almost as though I were experiencing them myself. I have since passed the book on to many friends. I feel this book has been a gift and as with all gifts I wish to thank the giver for writing the book, for sharing her innermost experiences, and for giving us the opportunity to visit those early days of Subud. It feels like a very important book.

A letter from a Jungian Analyst, Australia: 'I am so glad to have read Istimah Week's book 'The Man From The East'. I was enthralled by it-by the direct supple way she recounted her experiences, and by Pak Subuh's explanations with their central emphasis on the spiritual exercise, the latihan, and the process of testing and purification. It is lovely to see those things spoken of so clearly. The experience of an inner, ever-present Source, of its guiding and purifying activity and the practical integration of that into everyday life seem to me the central discovery of our lives and the raison d'etre of all spiritual and psychological methods. Yet that can become so obscure. It is wonderful to see such a clear focus on that in Pak Subuh's message and in the book.'

A letter from a member of Subud, Spain: " 'The Man From The East' is clear without fantasy-straight forward and real. It is an important book. It is most worthwhile that a Spanish translation has been made." (Note. 'El Hombre del Este' was published by Dawn Books, Australia, in 1999.)

Muhammad

Author: Osman Nuri Topbas

Muhammad in Perspective
This book places Muhammad in a perspective not seen before. He is the center of Mercy and Love, and becomes the ideal example of morality. Parts of his life are used to show how sincere he was in his mission and his dedication to his fellow humans, creatures and even plants. He is the Mecca of human spirit, the gravitational center of real humanity. Osman Topbas shows how Muhammad fits in with respect to the other prophets - as one of a class of chosen. The dedication of love that his companions felt towards him is seen as derived from his even deeper love for them, and it leads them not to fanatacism, but to extremes of balance, mercy and wisdom.

I highly recommend this book for a true perspective of Muhammad from authentic sources of the period. He is clearly seen as calling all to peace in submission to God (Islam).

"Cine Qua Non"
It's really perfect one of which books are predictable and acceptable the best within the scope of their subjects. I think!..

Fight Doctor Delivers The Cure
This book by Ferdie Pacheco, Muhammad Ali: A View from the Corner is a great read. Pacheco is a physician who hooked up with the Ali Circus early on in the ride and who stayed on as Ali's personal physician and adviser for many years of Ali's colorful boxing career.

There are countless books out there on the life of Muhammad Ali and I've read a lot of them, but in my opinion this simple book is one of the best of the lot. Pacheco is currently a color commentator for Showtime Championsip Boxing and he was formerly a boxing commentator for NBC Sports on their telecasts. Pacheco is smart, opinionated, and brutally honest when it comes to his subject - Muhammad Ali. Pacheco let's the reader see how his emotions were torn between staying on as a caregiver for the fighter he obviously loved, or no longer condoning the activities which he felt led to Ali's pitiful health condition today - and eventually resulted in him leaving the Ali camp.

Pacheco has great insight to all the behind the scene hijinks of Ali's colorful life and career and it is a very entertaining book that is honestly told by a man who loves his subject but is not afraid to tell the dark and hurtful truth.

Pacheco truly is the "Fight Doctor" and if you miss this book you miss a great piece of the entire Muhammad Ali puzzle.

This book is guaranteed to '' shock and amaze you.''
I recently read this book.I have to say it held my attenion the whole way through.Even through the end was very sad to me.Since it was about Ali's ''bloody trail'' of defeat.Mr. Pacheco captured all the details about Ali he saw.He even tells about Ali's circus[group of people that traveled with him.]It is a great way to explore Ali's life.It is an excellent book for all ages to read.As I said in the beginning I do not read much. But I have recently taken an intrest in boxing. It is by this I discovered Ali .I am only 15 and in my opinoin it is a great book for any one who is intrested in Ali or a greatperson
