Awesome book when you don't want to read alot
I'm 15 and had to critique a book having to do with the Middle Ages. While other people chose The Prince and bigger books I sorta cheated and got this 30 page book with pictures. It had lots of informative facts and little cartoon drawings that helped me better understand the info. It took me 20 minutes to read so it was really easy but I actually learned alot.

Friendship with Jesus
WOW what a wonderful way to experience the living God! I was very taken with the way this writer can make you release the everyday world and go to a place where you are walking with Jesus. It is easy to say what you would do in the situations from the writings of Mark....but when placed in the actual scene that was taking place in the life of Jesus, it is far harder to say you would have been one of his faithful followers!

A Wonderful mystical book!
This book is highly recommended for its telling of a famous story. It has a quietness and gentleness about it that I did not expect. I would read this story to my class when they are learning about the middle ages and during the Christmas holidays.

great reference book
My 3rd grade son used this book as his main source for an American Indian home project for school. It was incredible how much information was packed into the book. I totally disagree with the editorial regarding this book. It is not over cluttered and the title is not offensive when you consider the book is telling a child how he or she would have lived as an American Indian from the climate, to what you'd eat, to what was inside the teepee and exactly how it was made. Also included how and when the American Indians migrated to North America from Asia, why and how they moved to survive, what a buffalo hunt was like and even their arts and crafts. It should be noted that the book concentrates on the Plains Indians. I spent about an hour researching childrens books at the bookstores and this was by far the most informative and best presented. My son was not at all interested in the American Indians, but after studying this book wanted to go back in time and live as they were when they roamed freely. Our family is proud of its American Indian ancestry, and this book did it justice. EXCELLENT! We'll be buying more books in the series.

How Fiona makes you love History if you want to or not.
Fiona Macdonald is famous for writing beutiful books about the past. She explains in a very friendly, clear and fascinating way how our ancestors lived. Children who dislike history and who think that the past is boring change their mind when they see the magnificintly illustrated books Fiona makes. This book pulls you into the Middle ages and gets you as close to the past as possible without a time-machine. On the first page you see a picture of a medieval town, people are working, there ia a market and there is more than enough to see. On several place throughout the city you find small questions like 'Would you be afraid of these soldiers?'. You see three scary looking soldiers playing a game on a tower. If you would like to know what game they are playing you can go to another page. It works almost as a internetsite with several links. The book is almost ineractive. The Chapters are clear and very beuatifyllt illustrated. The author tells us how life would be for people in the middle ages. You can follow 'a-day-in-the-life-of, you can see battles, castles, cities and farmers. It is a book that you will pick up again and again. Children will love it, it is very handy for making school projects. As always Fiona Macdonald has succeeded in making another brilliant book about the past. Bringing the past closer and educating the young. The Illustrators have done a perfect job, every single picture is a pleasure to look at.

Mini-sized guide laden with maxi-helpful information
The Opera Journeys Mini Guide Series is just wonderful; it's like a "Cliff Note" of the opera, and extremely informative and educational. I particularly like the size; these guides are not cumbersome and fit right into my shirt pocket. The ladies will find sufficient room in their pocketbooks.

The story narrative with the music examples is excellent. I prefer it to a libretto; indeed, it's a much easier way to follow the essence of the story. The essay is magnificent; very well written, not pedantic, and extremely insightful and comprehensible. I congratulate Burton Fisher for a job very well done and Amazon for making these handy, information-laden booklets available. The Opera Journeys Mini Guide Series is a wonderful contribution to opera education and opera appreciation.

My tip: acquire the entire collection because you will be in easy reach of superbly presented opera guides consisting of story analysis, principal characters in the opera, story narrative with music highlights, background, analysis, and commentary.

Great Book - Is there a Sequel?
I have and still enjoy this book. This book is interesting, stick with it, it's fun to read. You can always go back for help with a subject that you don't understand. I don't know if the authors wrote a second book.
