The last days in understandable format
Dr. Powell does a great job of making the often confusing profecies make sense. This book is easy to read and not overwhelming. It focuses on the character of the anti-christ, not as an evil monster, but as a product of his society, trying to do what he feels is best. He is a very sympathetic character, which adds to the believability of the book.

Thought provoking and moving
The Last Trumpet is thought provoking and moving. A must read for everyone!

Add this to your library
I'm not a fan of compilations since they tend to be uneven and often predictable but this one is an exception to the rule. It is by turns affirming and profoundly sad. The themes of conflict and acceptance, shame and forgiveness have rarely been touched upon in such a sensitive way. I found it terribly affecting and emotionally honest without it being sentimental. The sort of confessional, self-revelatory writing sometimes runs the risk of sounding preachy or self-rightous; this book succeeds precisely because it does neither. I'd recommend it to parents, gay or straight, as well as to their children.

Very cool
This book book is great. Over the holidays I had a chance to read it (some of it twice). I have to say i didn't expect it to be such a captivating read. As it turned out it was the kind of thing where you cant just read one story - you have to get the next one in and then the next - staying up way past bedtime!! It was fun - in places dark, in other very funny. I am always amazed at how many different points of view there are on the topic of parents. It is amazing what some parents are capable of. It was fascinating to see how people had come to terms with their lot in life and managed to rise above, forgive, and so on. I also think it is a treasure in the sense that things are changing quickly and that in 20 years, folks might write quite differently. A must for every library. Enjoy!

The Mysteries of Fathers and Sons
This is a great collection of true stories written by gay men about their relationship with their fathers. Some are mundane, some are shocking, some are tender and some are thought-provoking. It would be great to see a follow-up volume written by not-so-famous gay men, just to see what would result. I suspect the same kind of wisdom, love and heartache would be present. Required reading for all fathers and all gay men.

A Glittering Treasury of Wisdom and Insight
The authors of this book, a rabbi and a minister, illumine the love, compassion and wisdom in Judaism and Christianity, and, in doing so, bring readers to the shared heart of these two religions. This compact volume traces the viewpoints explaining our confusion about God; invites us to mend our hearts with a life-supporting view of a caring and loving Creator; and awakens us to our spirits and contemporary ways to heal ourselves and become God's partners in mending the world.

The authors, writing with open hearts and incisive intellect, have created a magnificent work: one that honors the riches of the past and distills them into a guiding vision for the future.

Judith Pennington, author of The Voice of the Soul:
A Journey into Wisdom and the Physics of God

A wholesome, spiritual, and life-affirming treatise
Collaboratively written by Lewis D. Solomon, a Jewish Rabbi, and Bruce G. Epperly, a minister of the United Church of Christ, Mending The World: Spiritual Hope For Ourselves And Our Planet is a wholesome, spiritual, and life-affirming treatise on how healing can be promoted among ourselves, our neighbors, and our planet. Presenting diverse tools for spiritual transformation (including prayer, meditation, imagination, and affirmation), Mending The World is a thoughtful and much needed contribution to human wisdom in these especially troubled and troubling times.

Hope for our world and for our spirits
Mending the World is a unique blend of wisdom from two great traditions. Out of this contrapuntal dance comes a new melody of hope for our future and for our lagging spirits during these difficult days. If you need encouragement, direction, or even practical ways to creatively deal with the bad news we hear each night on television, go to this book and find a wellspring of peace and hope.

best book for the pro
this book consists almost everything u need to be a lithographer and is also concise and up-to-date!

also the price is not too high.

good book!

E-beam Lithography
The book provides a great overview of the Electron Beam Lithography, which was the material of interest for me. Material is conveyed in great detail while the meaning of the material is not necessarily constricted to the experts. As an undergraduate student, I found the material readable. I was also able to understand most of the information well and as a result I believe I have a good base of knowledge about lithography. I would definitely recommend this book to other students.

Great Text Book for Microlithography
The book give a very good overview of what microlithography is and it gives the recent advances in the field. I highly recommend it as something very good to have if your into the field of lithography and especially if you are a non engineer.

Demystification of modeling
This book is a concise, effective introduction to dynamic systems modeling
and how it can be used to provide insight to biological problems. The use
of dynamic modeling is demonstrated through example models, a new model
each chapter. The authors walk the reader/student through each model and
then make suggestions as to how it can be further exploited for greater
understanding of the problem. The greatest aspect of this book lies in
its demystification of computer modeling in general and shows that any
person, no matter their quantitative skills, can effectively model a
system by adhering to certain fundamentals. The models that are provided
range from ecosystems to individual cells, espousing a 'systems' approach
to every level of biology. Overall, this book is easy to understand; providing a mental tool by which one can bring greater clarity to complex, dynamic problems.

The means to an improved understanding of biological systems
The increasing interconnectedness and complexity of ecological and biological systems is undoubtedly increasing the potential environmental consequences of our decisions. Thus the growing importance of improving our understanding of the characteristics and internal relationships that govern the system's behavior. Hannon and Ruth clearly illustrate how we can think about problems from a 'dynamic systems' perspective, and how we can use technical programs to apply this new way of thinking as a tool to model biological systems. They present the means to build a greater understanding of the phenomena we see, the context of the problems that confront us, and the potential and expected effects of any interventions we may make.

Like the book's theoretical foundations, the modeling software used is both user-friendly for easy up-take by beginners, and sufficiently powerful for those at a more advanced level needing a robust software package. The reader is actively guided through the model development, simulation and interpretation process. This learning by participation and experience increases the readers understanding of the wide variety of contexts in which modeling techniques can be applied, and how to apply them.

Those interested in biological issues will find this valuable from the practical biological examples that are used, and the novel approach in which these issues are addressed. These range from spatial and population dynamics, to models of organisms, genetic movements and physical systems.

Further, the clarity of writing, and the familiarity of the examples and problems addressed, makes this an enjoyable educational experience for all people interested in developing a new perspective of the environment in which they live and work.

Perhaps most importantly, the analogical strength of the techniques used and models developed is such that researchers in all fields of academia, from economics to sociology, will benefit from it. It challenges us to re-examine how we define the problems we seek to solve, and to discipline our existing conceptualization of systems. It presents us with tools that challenge, yet compliment and strengthen traditional scientific approaches.

A great dynamic modeling book
Modeling Dynamic Biological Systems is a wonderful book for students and researchers interested in learning about dynamic modeling. I used this book in the first class I took dealing with dynamic modeling and found it very easy to understand and follow. The basic design of the book is to introduce the basic concepts of dynamic modeling and how to get started designing models in STELLA. Descriptions for designing models and the example models are based on STELLA modeling software, an intuitive iconographic program that allows even non-technical readers to begin modeling quickly. After the introduction to dynamic modeling the book is divided up into parts based on different areas of biology: Physical and Biochemical Models, Genetics Models, Models of Organisms, Single Population Models, Multiple Population Models, and Catastrophe and Self-Organization. In each of these parts there are a number of models dealing with different issues. The models are clearly explained and both the iconographic diagram and the equations are given so users can create the example models from the book or check their own work.

This book is a great resource for both novice and experienced modelers. Biologists from all areas will find this useful if they are interested in learning about dynamic modeling. Even if one's area of interest is not exactly one of the areas focused on in the book, the skills and basic method of dynamic modeling will be learned and the reader can then apply these to their area of interest. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in dynamic modeling, even non-biologists. With its great examples and clear explanations this makes a great resource for learning about dynamic modeling.

A masterful second book that lives up to everything that was laid down in Moonspawn. Many more creative acts of debauchery and a captivating series of end sequences make this a must book to buy :)

It just gets better!
The sequel lives up to everything that was in the first. The new characters are amazing, I loved Kitjana! The Shadow Angel Tribe were very hot! The cults and tribes and interaction between them in the realm of the Queen is great. Asian latex vampire nuns!?!And the end scene? Wow! I really hope the dude continues this series of books, I'm hooked.

D/s erotica in finest form
This book was very arousing. The book is very well written. The writer takes us into the headspace of all the participants. The scenes are all elaborately detailed, one, lasting 30 pages is very hot. You see the dominant careful craft her web of slavery as she takes a defiant captive and turns her into a willing submissive. Very hot. Can't wait for the next installment.

Murder in the Peach State

A Must Read Book
Bruce Jordan's book" Murder in the Peach State" takes you right to the heart of the story. You feel as if you are right there with the ladies of Columbus, feeling their terror and wanting their stalker caught. You feel for Frank Leo in his last minutes and want to make it right.Mr Jordan gives you a feel for the times and the history of each story as it unfolds. Much like the A&E series "City Confidential". I was left wanting more stories when I feached the end of his book.I am awaiting his next book with much anticipation.

Moore's Ford Lynchings
Bruce L. Jordan's "Murder In The Peach State" is a compelling work and, quite rare in such works, important. This is the first published book, I think, to document something of the Moore's Ford lynchings of 25 July 1946 in Walton County, Georgia. Four adult African-Americans and an unborn child were lynched at Moore's Ford that day. They were Roger and Dorothy Malcolm and George and Mae Dorsey. Dorothy was said to have been seven months pregnant at the time. The victims were not merely shot dead. According to the coroner's report, the bodies were mutilated by over sixty bullets being fired into them. Mr. Jordan has rightly mentioned Eugene Talmadge and the racial tensions excited by him toward African-Americans during 1946. That Eugene Talmadge was in large measure responsible for the lynchings at Moore's Ford is documented by his words and actions during his 1946 campaign for governor. Mr. Jordan's record of George Dorsey's splendid military service during World War II is touching and appropriate. However, it is Mr. Jordan's useful additions to the general knowledge of the Moore's Ford lynchings which make his work important. It was not widely known that Roger Malcolm was not immediately charged with the stabbing of Barney Hester. According to Mr. Jordan's account, Roger Malcolm ran back to his home after the fight with Hester. Later that night he was dragged into his yard and there beaten by a group of about ten men. It would appear that it was only at this point that Sheriff E. S. Gordon was notified. He arrested Roger Malcolm for the stabbing of Barney Hester. A second attempt on Roger Malcolm's life, according to Mr. Jordan, took place on 15 July 1946, when a mob came to the jail and demanded that Sheriff E. S. Gordon release Malcolm to them. Gordon refused to do so, and somehow convinced the mob to leave. The information which Johnnie Burdette gave to officials of the NAACP, placing Deputy Sheriff Lewis Howard at Moore's Ford shortly before the lynchings took place, and the fact that there were no records in the sheriff's office showing that Loy Harrison had indeed paid the six-hundred-dollar bond for Roger Malcolm's release from jail, is highly important. Little by little the parts of the complex Moore's Ford puzzle are finding their rightly place. Mr. Jordan's book is helpful. Mr. Jordan's work has also touched the well-known Clinton Adams story. Alas, what Clinton Adams has said would now appears to be quite untrue. During his interview with the FBI, Adams stated that he and Emerson Elder Farmer were at Moore's Ford during the afternoon of 25 July 1946 and saw the lynchings take place. Adams then went on to tell the FBI that his close friend, Emerson Elder Farmer, was never interviewed by the FBI. Emerson Elder Farmer, aged 12, was indeed interviewed by Special Agents of the FBI on 28 July 1946, and he also testified before the grand jury in Athens, Georgia, concerning what he saw during the afternoon of the lynchings. Among other things, Emerson Elder Farmer stated that he was on the front porch of his home just above Moore's Ford when the death convoy of five cars passed with the victims. Shortly, he heard many shots. Importantly, Emerson Elder Farmer yet has three close relations in life who were with him at his home that day. All three have confirmed that Emerson Elder Farmer was at home when the lynchings took place and have stated that Clinton Adams was not at Moore's Ford on 25 July 1946. Further, in his statements to the FBI, Adams says that shortly after the lynchings he was told to keep quiet about what he had seen by Deputy Sheriff Lewis Howard and Doc Sorrells, clearly indicating that they were then the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff of Walton County, Georgia; however, this was not the case. Sheriff E. S. Gordon was in office until his death in June 1948, a year and eleven months after the lynchings. Only then did Lewis Howard become the sheriff of Walton County. Again, "Murder In The Peach State" is an important work.

I know I'll read it again.
This is one of those books which I would think of later and then realize, with disappointment, that I had already finished the book. I'll let a little time pass and then read it again. Although I was familiar with some of the stories, I found some interesting items in each of the stories that I didn't know before.

Wonderful Addition to collection
Want to add an excellent reference to your collection of books dealing with the Hollywood Musicals? Then this book is it. Just like those musicals from the golden age of Hollywood, this book has it all. Beautiful photographed images, lots of (techni) colours, stars in their greatest moments. Truly an Oscar winning performance! The book is printed in good quality paper and images are very clear and of good size on each page. Of course it's impossible to include a poster from every musicals in any given year, but the selections Bruce Hershenson made are excellent. A page may contain an average of 5 images while some are giving the full page treatment (e.g. Grease, Singin' In the Rain). Definitely an excellent addition to your library of movie books.

When Will the Musical Make a Comeback?
With the notable exceptions of Oliver! (1968), Cabaret (1972), Jesus Christ Superstar (1973), Tommy (1975) and Evita (1996), Hollywood has essentially turned its back on a genre that this book re-captures in all its glory. The images are superb, the color and quality are sublime. Though the book is straightforward, a thread of sadness runs subconsciously from its first to its last pages, as one ruminates about what this genre was all about, what it could have been and why it is, for all intents and purposes, dead except on the New York, London and Toronto stages. From Astaire and Rogers to Gene Kelly, Streisand and even the Beatles, it's all covered here. Though it seems awkward to most of today's audiences to see a person in the middle of a scene break out into a song with no band playing behind him on screen, this was the accepted norm and was often the the portion of a film that had an audience soaring in their seats. That such a feeling has all but disappeared makes this book all the more precious, preventing this genre from fading into the wisps of memory. The beautiful thing about this book is the unexpected. Rather than delve into the expected great musicals with the standard American images (which are included in great detail nevertheless), this book includes artwork from other countries, art that is more "in your face" and thought provoking. Who can forget the image used for the Polish version of the 1972 release of "Cabaret?" (Joel Grey's face in the center of four stocking legs bent into the shape of a swastika?) This is the kind of thing that you would never have seen printed or distributed in the U.S., works of art that can only be bought for thousands of dollars today at many of America's biggest auction houses. If you are the least bit interested in the jaw-dropping beauty of what has become a lost art -- the exercise of drawing images associated with the advertising of a Hollywood film -- this is the book to have. This book is part of movie poster maven Bruce Hershenson's exhaustive multi-volume series of books highlighting the history and beauty of what much of mainstream America has only in the last ten years begun to recognize. And that is movie posters are a "popular art" form that can stand proudly next to all other styles of art from gothic to modern, from expressionist to impressionist. Great film art borrows from all of these styles and this volume, which focuses only on posters associated with musicals, illustrates innumerable examples whereby despite the restrictive nature of the genre (musicals), not all posters went in the same direction in terms of style and presentation. From Shall We Dance to A Star is Born, from 42nd Street to Yellow Submarine, Hershenson and Allen have built an incredible archive (and legacy) of images in all of their books, capturing a period (when all posters were drawn by hand and then printed, as opposed to today's method of using photographic stock and manipulating them digitally and printing them by the thousands) that would otherwise be lost forever. A fine book for any collector (get the hardcover edition if you can, it's harder to find; if Amazon doesn't have it, it's available from Mr. Hershenson directly at mail@brucehershenson.com).

Outstanding! The best Musical Movie Poster Book ever!
The best Musical Movie Poster book available today! This book has it all. Beautifully photographed and reproduced in great color this book reveals the outstanding artists, designers and photographers that created movie poster "Works of Art" from the early days of movie musicals to the current. A"must have" for the movie memorabilia collector and movie musical fan. Superb!

Illustrated Bible Dictionary
I bought this as a reference guide, but found I had a great deal of difficulty putting it down. The explanations are comprehensive, informative and not only guide you through the bible, but give you a history of the people and their time.

will soon become your favorite
If you are a student of the Bible and you can only afford one quality Bible dictionary, get this one. If you already have another dictionary, get this one - it will soon become your favorite. Big, colorful, READABLE print and index - it is exactly what a student needs to find things fast and to have a clear explanation when he finds it. Worth the investment.

A Comprehensive Look at the Bible
This is an excellent resource for anyone who desires a one volume, comprehensive dictionary of all things biblical. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order and cover nearly every theme and topic imaginable. The book has those one would expect (e.g. Trinity, Jesus), as well as information that is more specialized (e.g. a 5-page entry on biblical minerals). If something is mentioned in the Bible then it should be here. After all, there are over 7,000 entries and many are several pages long. It contains entries on non-biblical topics too (e.g. Philo and Josephus). My favorite articles are those on the books of the Bible (primarily the Protestant canon, although there is an entry on the apocrypha). They examine such issues as authorship, dating, content, and theology. All of the entries are scholarly, informative, and for the most part, written in "layman's terms." Many famous scholars have contributed, including F.F. Bruce and Daniel Wallace. There are cross-references to the major bible translations including the NIV, KJV, NRSV, and REB. The notes are non-denominational and usually well balanced and are written from an evangelical, conservative Protestant standpoint. For readers interested in a more critical approach, I would recommend the Oxford Companion to the Bible.

There are other reasons to buy this book too. The introduction explains how best to use the dictionary and includes a good survey of biblical history and theology in chart form. There are hundreds of full color maps, pictures, and photographs to illuminate the written words. For example, under the entry for Pontius Pilate there is a photograph of an inscription from a Roman theater bearing his name. There is a section containing maps too. Also, the type size is enlarged for easier reading. Overall, this is a great resource, especially for Christians who want to know more about the people, places, things, and doctrines of the Bible.
