A literary star is born!
What a hilarious, insightful book! We have bought it for everyone we know! Can't wait for the next book and LOVE his cartoons in The New Yorker (it's the only reason we subscribe). Run, don't walk to you're nearest bookstore!

Oh, if only I could say it all as well as Bruce Eric Kaplan.
I can't get enough of this book. It has truly put me in stitches. I chortle to myself as I walk down the street thinking about it; I talk about it non-stop. Kaplan has a unique, endlessly gratifying talent. His humor is brilliant and insurpassable, and his firm, knowing handle on the motives and foibles of today's humans is flabbergasting. I couldn't stop turning the page to see what he would deliver next! This book is like a little glowing gem.

Piercing and Funny
You know BEK's work from the New Yorker even if you don't know his name. The cartoons are wonderfully funny and have a timelessness to them. He puts the most devastating words into the mouths of children and dogs. I highly recommend it to anyone, and especially those people who read the cartoons first in the New Yorker.

For the vertical traveller
A really outstanding book! It presumes a very basic level of knowledge and builds your confidence - from the history and making of climbing rope to all the hardware and knowledge needed to descend and ascend. All the techniques are listed and advantages/disadvantages noted for each. There is information for cavers and explorers as well as sportsmen and rescue pros. Some of the most interesting passages in the book describe real situations, poor planning, and what happened. If you want information good enough to go out and survive a dangle from a rope, this is it.

On Rope
This is a wonderful book. It shows knots in detail, it shows when and how to use them. We use the book all the time as a training manual.

A high angle Bible
This by far the most comprehensive book on technical rope work and rigging I have ever found. The information is of value to anyone who does high-angle work, not just cavers. The authors do a fabulous job explaining different techniques and WHY they work-an attribute lacking in many other such books. ON ROPE has been the single greatest non-human teacher in my climbing career. Its a must-own for anyone who puts their life on a rope.

A reference for life
I actually attended classes taught Mr. Warren and was around when he
was developing his first edition. He loved what he did and it showed in his
teaching and this is what is in his book. A love and practical understanding
and teaching to bring out the "best photographer" in you.

A photography teacher in your hands
The way that Bruce teaches the zone system could not be better explained by Ansel Adams himself, this book will teach you how to master all aspects of photography, and will serve as your base to become a professional or a great enthusiast. It covers all subjects from black and white to color.

the definitive photo textboox
Great resource, excellent in nearly all respects from the information and how it's written to design and layout...and beautiful photo examples all throughout. I originally bought this book when it first came out (it was for a college photography class) and I still read it today, both for reference and for enjoyment.

Sarah's Unicorn
I remember this book so well. I waited for it after Foolish Giant came out. Then I was able to hear the story of A Monsters Ring before it was published. If you think Coville is a great author for children you should. Being a school teacher helped.
Sarah's Unicorn was one of the first books I was ever able to read on my own.

The First book I finished
When I was a little girl in my grade school library, I came across this book. I had never finished a book all the way through until then. I checked it out every year more than once, and read it time and time again. It is a great story, and I hope my daughter loves it as much as I do.

Childhood Memories
"Sarah's Unicorn" was my very first book I ever learned to read and as a little girl I loved it so much I had it memorized. I came on here in hope of finding my beloved story and I am incredibly sadened to find it is no longer sold. It's a shame such a great children's story is no longer available to everyone. I only hope children my age never forget the exsistence of unicorns like they have many other myths!

Employee Stock Options the Easy Way
I'm a programmer based in Silicon Valley and have received stock options over the years. No question, there is a lot of misinformation on the subject. Then again, the subject is extremely complex! However, when reading Taulli's book, things became much clearer. The sections on AMT were especially done well. If you want to understand your stock options, Taulli's book is a great choice.

Stock Options are Understandable for the First Time
Congradulations, Tom. Finally, someone has written a book that is understandable and readable for the financially saavy and not so saavy tech employee... This book contains information that is essential for (i) the employee who is interested in knowing the good and less than good about stock options and (ii) the executive and board who needs to correctly incentivize the employee base. Tom's book outlines the types of options available, how options work, and their tax and securities law treatments. The section on negotiation is particularly interesting and contains information not often available in a book directed at those of us who don't care to read a legal treatise. This book is well worth the read. Good luck and may your stock options be everything you hope them to be.

Good Guidance
I wish I would have read this book before I exercised my options, I would have paid alot less to uncle sam. If you want to make sure you get the most money for your options, I'd get a copy of this book. The tax implications can get complicated and Tom lends clear guidance and strategies.

How to Teach Almost Anything to Practically Anyone (The Seven Laws of the Learner)
Published in Paperback by Multnomah Publishers Inc. (1992)
Author: Bruce Wilkinson
Amazon base price: $8.99
Average review score:

The Teacher
This is by far the best book on teaching. If you think you are not a teacher... think again. You teach in every aspect of your life. You may be a parent, a boss, a manager, or even a teacher.

His method is not simple and it takes work to perfect. One of my professors from school said of the conferance, "Go to this 7 laws seminar. Go rob a 7-11 if you have to pay for the seminar. Just go."

I would agree. Though I am not advocating armed robbery.

Best Book on Teaching Available
Every teacher at every level needs to read this book. School teachers, college professors, Bible study leaders, whatever kind of group you lead can revolutionize your teaching style. Wilkinson's basic premise is that you haven't taught anything until the people in your class have learned something. What a concept!

Excellent Resource
This is no doubt the best teaching course that I have ever gone through. If you are in any way involved in teaching, please use this book!

Magic School Bus
Would you really board a bus that could turn into a spaceship? Well, the kids in Ms. Frizzle's class did it once again. The Magic School Bus Gets Lost in the Solar System by Joanna Cole. This time they were off on another fantastic adventure in space. It gets very crazy in his book when Ms. Frizzle gets lost in space and the class has to go on without her. The children also have to learn now to deal with Arnold's cousin Janet. She is a "know it all" who shares everything with every one. This book is great for a couple of reasons. First, the pictures really let you visualize space. Second, the pages are set up so that you can learn something on every page. This book is a really good introduction to a space unit. It really encourages you to learn more about space. I think the author must include her own love of adventure and learning in every magic school bus book. She has so many great lessons that are packed with information. I hope you look forward to finding out if the children can save Ms. Frizzle and if there will be any more great adventures!

Best children's science series ever.
The Magic School Bus Lost in the Solar System is one is a series of science adventure books by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen (Illustrator), all of which are trulky excellent. The chart the adventures of Ms. Frizzle and her class as they go on some really interesting field trips.

The books operate on several levels. They work as adventure stories as the manner in which they get diverted from an ordinary school field trip to the adventure at hand is always entertaining. The illustrations are truly wonderful and add to the story line very effectively. The books do in fact contain a lot of basic information about the topic at hand, so your kids are actually learning something as they read. And, as a final bonus, the books always involve some sore of class socialization issue, so your kids are exposed to some real life classroom issue, (here it's a Miss know-it-all type) and strategies for dealing with them as well. On top of all that, the books are just plain fun.

A great series for late pre-schoolers and early elementary age kids. So, what are you waing for? Jump on the Magic School Bus and have some fun!!!

The Magic School Reviw
The book I reviewed is The Magic School Bus in Outer Space by Joanna Cole. This book is about planets. When read this book I learned about the planets. I thought this book is a good book. They fly around the planets. Ms. Frizzle leaves the bus then she meets the kids later. She goes back to the magic school bus and they all go see the other planets. Then they go back to school.

All Around Excellent
This is easily one of the best adventures for D&D that I've ever seen. It's very imaginative, well-written, and has plenty of information for DMs. It's got just enough story backing up the hack-n-slash to keep players interested, and the final encounter is monumental. It's great fun to play for both DM and PCs.

I like what I'm reading and I think you will, too
The original S2 was one of the more clever and interesting A&D modules I ever read. Most of the others were just an excuse for hack and slash and grab the booty.

The original adventure encompassed more thinking and even a little negotiation which was uncommon in 1st edition AD&D.

So, that's why I'm happy to see a revision to the old module into a book form. This new edition has some very interesting twists and a big moral dilemma at the end which I thoroughly appreciate. It also has a method in it that potentially will ruin the lives of foolish PCs so DMs may want to be careful in playing this one out if their players aren't the thinking or cautious types.

Overall, there's a lot more room for negotiations in this series. I like that as I'm trying to push more roleplaying in my players. Moreover, the storyline is set up with four warring factions; all evil but I plan to change that to a few neutrals since the PCs in my campaign are all good and would never negotiate alliances with evil groups.

This game is great for an adventuring group from 7-10. I would add that they should be interested in thinking out possible traps and tricks and also be adequate (or better) at negotiations. The weapons may unbalance the game so make them either super evil, which means good PCs must destroy them, or have them destroyed at the climax (will make sense when you read it). Lastly, you may want to give the different warlords more allies as the module gave them a skeleton crew of thugs.

Simply a Great Module!
In my opinion, Return to White Plume Mountain is one of the very best adventure modules out there! It features a very clever central plot, realistic encounters, logical combat situations, and several opportunities to roleplay and interact with the dungeon's inhabitants.

This supplement provides very clear and detailed histories for both Keraptis and White Plume Mountain. The plot is unique, realistic, and intriguing. The effects of roleplaying and of interacting with the non-player characters is outlined. In addition, the dungeon crawl itself is not linear at all, allowing the players to roam at will. And the maps look great!

Although a lot of information is presented, the module can easily be altered or customized. There is no setting specific material, so White Plume Mountain can easily be inserted into any ongoing campaign. However, no addition work is needed to fully enjoy this adventure.

I have run this module with 3 separate groups of players, experiencing 3 very different, yet wonderfully memorable, adventures. Do yourself a favor, purchase Return to White Plume Mountain - it is worth every penny!

Beware!!!
If you are looking for a "how-to" book, go elsewhere. Bruce was never a big fan of those martial arts books that proposed you could learn the style just by reading. Bruce meant this as a guide to help all martial artists (not just wing chun practitioners) on their journey to self-enlightenment, and to that end it serves its purpose well. This man was a genius and an inspiration not only as a fighter, but as a human being as well.

The JKD Primer
What can you say about a book written by Bruce Lee. This one is great. It was the basis for the 'Tao of JKD'. Here he is talking about what he really knows, the way of Chinese martial Arts.

This book covers the technical gung fu as well as the philosophy as seen through Mr. Lee's eyes. One of the all time greatest Martial Artist. The diagrams are in his own hand, with his own thoughts. So read his words himself, and get the info direct!

You will not want to put this book down. And will read it, over and over again.

Great book either if you're new in martial arts or not
This book from the martial arts' legend himself gives a broad view of martial arts basic principles as well as some insights on the oriental philosophy. Bruce Lee exposes his knowledge and experience accumulated throughout several years of practice and learning. A must if you are interested in martial arts.

It's docious-ali-expi-listic-fragi-cali-roopus backwards!
What a great book about in my opinion the best songwriters! The Shermans had the opportunity to be with Disney during what I believe was the peak of the Disney Co. Their songs have warmed the hearts of millions of people across the world. My mother had never heard of the Shermans but whenever I sing their songs she says "I love that song, I didn't know they wrote that..." I can count on their songs being family friendly and joyful. I love Winnie the Pooh was not at all surprised when I discovered who wrote the songs! I never get tired of reading Walt's Time. The pictures are great and layout is so different. It is fun to read the background stories that is behind each song. Such as A Spoon full of Sugar and how Robert's son gave them the inspiration. I know the price makes it difficult for some of us. I personally do not own the book, but I love to borrow it from my library. It is a must read for every Disney and Sherman fan out there!

It's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
This book is truly the gem of my library... A beautiful look at the careers of Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman! Reading this book brought back so many memories! Little did I realize that so many of my favorite Disney (and even non-Disney) musical films all had one special thing in common... the music of the Sherman Brothers.

This wonderful book is formatted like a huge scrapbook... its fun to read, and just packed with rare photos, cartoons and other memorabilia that would delight any reader.

"Nowhere is there a more happier book!"
Wow!, What a feast of fun! Here's the story of two of this century's most prolific and popular songwriters, the Sherman Brothers, finally cronicled in a superb scrapbook. Discover the Sherman Brothers' insights into the enigma that was Walt Disney, and learn of their dream job with this man.. who nurtured their talent, producing a sound that is truly instantly recognisable, the world over. These are the guys who created "the biggest word you ever heard", who left us singing of a "small, small world".. and gave lyrical life to a "fantasmagorical machine" called Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

This is a lovingly remembered book by the Dick and Bob, put together with the help of a few amazingly dedicated fans. Bruce & David and Jeff have produced another gem of a book. With them, too much is never enough.. the photographic treasures, the office cartoons all give the impression of being invited to dinner with the Shermans. I was lucky enough to hear the Shermans at the piano for a preview of this book at a Disney fan's convention last year. That was a night I'll never forget.. as the brothers sang their way through the songs of my childhood. Now the feeling of that night (and my childhood) has been captured in print, and I can't be happier! Thanks guys, it's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious !
