Loving hands : the traditional Indian art of baby massage

Deeply moving and wonderfully inspirational book
What a beautiful book! The photographs are so telling of the love existant between mother and child. Frederick Leboyer is gifted with words and descriptions come across as simple poetry rather than dry descriptions. Here is something I wish my mother had done to me as a child. A gift I will give myself and my child when the time comes. On a side note I didn't find the exclusion of fathers massaging as being a bad thing. This is the story of Shantala and her baby. The poetic reference to death is about the death of the soul without love. Whether you are a baby or an adult the results are the same.

Beautiful photos reveal loving method for bonding with baby
Beautiful photographs set amidst poetry and simple instructions guide new parents in positioning and massaging their baby. The book conveys a sense of serenity that a parent may find through interacting with his or her child. It also discusses various oils and lotions that can be used for a smooth and soothing massage. One factor which did not allow for a 10 rating here is the lack of fathers giving infant massage. Also note that if someone wished to give this book as a gift, they should be aware that there is one poem which discusses the circle of life, including death, which can be very upsetting to some new parents. If this book has been revised by Leboyer, I would certainly look for the new; it is very difficult to find the original.

This book changed my life
I was diagnosed as "borderline hypoglycemic" when I was 19 after have a rootbeer float at lunch. At the same time I was told that low blood sugar "usually" turns into a full blown case of diabetes and that there was no Known cure for it.

By following the basic guidelines given in this book, I learned how to control my blood sugar level, how to tell when it was getting to low, or was to high. Its all in what is eaten and how often. What you eat today, will effect how you are going to feel tomorrow. After awhile, it all became a habit.

I'm quite happy to say that almost 30 years later, I still watch the signs, symptoms, know when to eat what. And am still "borderline hypoglycemic".

This book has been very helpful with my problems
For many years I could not find an answer to my problems I experienced. I only knew that it was connected with nutrition and the book was an absolute eye opener to me. Now I feel much better having taken notice of Fredericks' advice in this book.

I would appreciate to get in touch with the autor and ask for his e-mail address or normal address, because in the New Low Blood Sugar and You book we found a mistake in the charts ( which did not relate to the page where they are described).

Helped this Protestant greatly!
Jelly's work is both readable and well researched. While it is written for a Catholic audience, it helped this Protestant understand the Marian dogmas for better than I did before.

Madonna: Mary in the Catholic Tradition
Excellent book. Starting with the Old Testament, through the New Testament, through Patristic, medieval texts the author provides a faith-filled and reasonable account of how Mary has been viewed in the Catholic Tradition. A pleasure to read. I recommend it highly.

Amazon base price: $20.00

A must buy for descendants of Magna Carta Sureties
This book is an excellent resource for those researching descents from one of the Magna Carta Barons or those named in the preamble as advisors to King John. Each line is accompanied by a list of sources for the descent from one of the Barons to an American Colonist.

Outstanding Readable Reference Work
While there are numerous reference works relating the descendancy of the Magna Charta Barons, this one is concise, documented and continues across the Atlantic to the early Colonists of North America. Being unencumbered with commentaries on historical events, this book reveals lineage after lineage after lineage providing the researcher with an invaluable tool to document centuries of family history.

When Maigret meets a serial killer ...
When Maigret meets a serial killer, it's a dramatic face to face and, as usually, Maigret can understand why the killer acts in such an horrible way. Maigret don't excuse the killer but can understand. Like said Simenon : "Understand but not judge".

Great stuff, one of the best Maigrets
This is one of my very favorite Simenon novels; superbly paced and brilliant characterizations.

Beautiful and Inspiring
The Man Who Made Parks is a beautifully illustrated and inspiring book for children. It tells the story of a brilliant and complicated man in words that children can understand. Olmsted's love of nature, his childhood illness, his mixed feelings about school, and the convoluted path that led him to his special place in American history are all described in the book, as well as his triumph in Central Park and much of what came after that. Great book on Marian Anderson
This is a terrific book. It combines moderately large type with clear writing and lots of well-chosen photographs in telling the life story of Marian Anderson. Complex ideas such as segregation are conveyed in a direct and understandable manner.
I believe this is a better book than _When Marian Sang_, which has beautiful artwork, but has an inadequate text -- at the same time being too complex and too narrow.
This revised version of _Marian Anderson: A Great Singer_ would be appropriate for elementary students, and for anyone who would like a quick and thorough review of Ms. Anderson's life, together with over twenty well-chosen photographs, and a timeline, vocabulary, and list of additional resources.

Marian Anderson a Great Singer
This is a well written biography with great photographs. The story follows Marian's life from childhood through her retirement in 1965. The writers gently lead us through the injustices and triumphs Marian encountered during her life and career as one of our nations great musical treasures.

The reading level is appropriate for grades 2 through 5. A timeline, glossary, and references for more information are also included. The internet addresses include some wonderful samples of Marian's singing.

I can't wait to share this story with my kindergarten through fifth grade music classes. I know they will positively love it!

An outstanding contribution to WWII era aviation history.
Originally nicknamed the "Widow Maker" and "The Flying Prostitute" (no visible means of support), the short, small winged Martin Aircraft Corporation's Marauder B-26 was able to record a very successful combat record during World War II. The 29th volume in the acclaimed Specialty Press "WarbirdTech" series, Frederick Johnsen's Martin B-26 Marauder features technical manual excerpts, factory photos and drawings, combat photos, and combat accounts, making it a very necessary addition to any personal, professional, academic, and community library aviation history and World War II military history collection.

Long Overdue Treatment of a Classic Bomber
The latest title in the Warbird Tech series fills a significant gap in the information available on the Martin B-26 Marauder. Although the book does have a brief operational history of the B-26, the best reason to purchase this book it for its emphasis on the technical aspects of the aircraft. The author makes good use of many aircraft technical manual drawings throughout the book, showing everything imaginable, from the location of armor plate to the various configurations of the tail gun mounts and fairings. Many previously unpublished photos reveal the countless nuances of the aircraft as it was subtly modified throughout its long wartime production run. The color photo section is another treat, as most of these photos will be new to even the die-hard Marauder enthusiast. Anyone with an interest in the B-26 Marauder will want this carefully planned and thoughtfully produced volume.

Jeeves & Bertie #8
Previous: Joy in the Morning (Jeeves in the Morning)

This is the classic volume in which Bertie finds himself at a place called Deverill Hall pretending to be Gussie Fink-Nottle, and Gussie Fink-Nottle shows up pretending to be Bertie. Bertie must do all he can to keep the Fink-Nottle/Bassett romance intact (for we know the fate that awaits Bertram otherwise), and this, complete with two other rocky romances, keeps Bertie on his toes throughout this hilarious book. Jeeves is absent for much of this book, and thus it is short on the interaction between the two that makes the books so charming, but he shows up to save the day when the time is right. Notable in this story is the oppressed Esmond Haddock who cowers under his five aunts, the relationship between Bertie's old chum Catsmeat and a parlormaid named Queenie which nearly ends in very foreseeable disaster, and the presence of Jeeves's Uncle Charlie.

I must add that this is the book I read on the plane when I had to fly home for a sudden funeral, and in the midst of the somberness of the occasion, this book was a tangible ray of sunlight. Although I will probably always remember it within that rather unfortunate context, perhaps that is not a bad thing. It worked its magic, and kept me laughing.

Next: Bertie Wooser Sees it Through (Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit)

Tremendous
It is a novel characteristic of Wodehouse. The plot is very complicated and filled with unlikely events. The main characters are Bertie and Jeeves. Other characters: Gussie, Corky, Catsmeat, Madeline Bassett, Esmond Haddock and many-many aunts. The novel is very good and among the funniest that I've ever listened to. The vocabulary is tremendous and very funny.

One of the best books in my collection !!!
Really brilliant work. Very captivating , ease to read book. It combines all the best in sci-fi.

Excellent work by a master.
Although it's not as well known as some of his other work this is Pohl at his best! Take the worst trends of society right now and that's where this book starts. This is the sequel to Space Merchants and in some ways it's a redrafting of that story. Excellent.
