The Return of an old friend
I first read this series when I was still in grade school, back when the title's were the Prince's Players, Tournement and Tower and City By The Sea (does that make me old or what?) They were the only stories that I would read over and over and over and ---well you get the point. I loved reading about Randal, Lys and Walter, their story seem more realistic to me b/c the charcter's actually had consequences for their actions: like Randal's ever present scar from when he broke a majory wizardry rule in order to...(read the first one and find out) When they went out of print and my library sold them I was crushed (though I did find #2 and #3 at a used book store a year or two ago.) I'm glad that once more the series is back in print and other people can journey with the trio like I once did.

For All Fantasy Lovers
I bought the first of this series for my 8-year-old. After reading the first one myself I had to buy the others. I hope the fifth one comes out soon. If you like magic and adventure, you'll like this series--no matter what your age.

An outstanding book in an outstanding series
This book was originally published ten years ago under the title The Prince's Players. It hasn't lost any of its freshness or originality since its first publication. It was great then, both as a stand-alone book and as part of the series. (The Circle of Magic books tell one story from beginning to end if you read them in order.) All of them can be read by themselves, though, without losing the magic, the charm, and the characters.

I'm glad that these books are coming back into print, so another generation of kids can get their first taste of fantasy. There's lots hidden inside of them for older readers and more experienced fantasy readers too. This is a series that isn't just for kids.

Anyway, in this book Randal (the hero) learns more about what magic means, both to himself and to others. The overall thrust is of self-discovery, personal responsibility, and other positive values, told in the midst of an exciting action-packed adventure. Violence, spies, good twins, bad twins, and theatre all mixed, with the hero making choices that matter. Good book.

I purchased this book along with the Kaplan NCLEX-RN review and thought both were great. This is the best book that I have found for content. I felt so prepared to take the NCLEX that I took it two weeks after I graduated and passed with the minimum number of questions. I recommend this book to anyone.

The best book that helps me to pass RN Exam
I read this book twice, and it was really helpful for me, especially:
-Drug and nursing implications unit
-Very good easy reading materials
-8 very good review tests.

I recommend it to everybody.

Saunders NCLEX review book

Double Exposure: From a Gift of Love
Published in Audio Cassette by Simon & Schuster (Audio) (1999)
Author: Judith McNaught
Amazon base price: $5.98
Average review score:

Audio version
Nicely done in audio form. The reader, Melissa Errico, did a nice job. I recommend this story with confidence. Sometimes the past is shoved in your face again, and it's nice to have the option of changing the outcome, albeit reluctantly. It's nice when two people can push and pull, yet still find equal ground.

From one of the best romantic writers
I reccommend this to all romantic readers.

Keep it!
This is a book well-worth both time and money

Dr. Dad (Superromance, 894)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (1900)
Author: Judith Arnold
Amazon base price: $4.50
Average review score:

One of my favorite category romance writers pens a winner
Susannah Dawson fled Hollywood after being the TV star of popular soap opera Mercy Hospital. She moves to Arlington in northwest Connecticut to get as far away from Los Angeles as possible. Living next door to Susannah is handsome pediatrician, Dr. Toby Cole a widower and his precocious but troubled daughter Lindsey.

Without asking, Lindsey invites Susannah to join them for dinner. Lindsey is a big fan of Susannah's show, which Toby never heard of, let alone seen. As the neighbors become acquainted with one another, they fall in love. However, Lindsey has problems and does not want to share her beloved new friend with her Dr. Dad. Lindsey is reaching out to TV celebrity Dr. Lee Davis or at least celebrity Susannah, but instead receives homebody Sue Dawson. If Lindsey fails to adjust to the possibility that the former star could be her new mother, Toby and Sue will grieve what could have been. Even the Daddy School cannot help this Trio.

Judith Arnold provides contemporary readers with a special treat, a return to the beloved "Daddy School". The story line centers on relationships, both loving and negative. Sue and Toby are a charming couple, but ten-year old Lindsey steals the show with her ulcer-giving tempestuous behavior that many readers will recognize. Any one who enjoys a warm tale that highlights the love between a father and daughter will want to read DR. DAD.

The Family: A Christian Perspective on the Contemporary Home
Published in Paperback by Baker Book House (1992)
Authors: Jack O.; Balswick, Judith K. Balswick and Judith Balswick
Amazon base price: $17.99
Average review score:

A pleasant surprise!
When a colleague recommended this book to me, I did not have high hopes: I was afraid it would be another "conservative" diatribe full of "thou shalt nots," lacking depth both theologically and psychologically. How happily surprised I was when I read it!

Jack and Judith Balswick combine academic backgrounds in sociology and psychology with demonstrated knowledge and ability as Christian counselors. Rather than being a negative, prohibitive book, this is a positive, life- and love-affirming work, meant to guide individuals and families toward God's will for them -- not beat them into submission.

The book presents an abundance of academic and clinical research, but it is presented so skillfully and unobtrusively that the average lay reader will not be put off by it. Even difficult topics (such as masturbation, homosexuality, and divorce/remarriage) are presented in a sensitive manner, resisting the temptation to fall into an authoritarian tone, and encourage the reader to prayerful reflection. Quite [pleasantly] surprising!

I highly recommend this book; most especially, I recommend it to all clergy and lay counselors.

Great resource book for Christians and churches!
The Balswick provide an excellent basis for understanding the family from a Christain context. They deal with theological and psychological issues in a language that is easy to understand and informative to people with various levels of training. They deal with a broad range of topics in a sensative, yet intelligent manner. This book is a must for every church library!

Fine Theological Model for Family Relationships
The biblical model for family relationships proposed by the authors provides an easy to understand framework to explore family problems of today. The basic concepts of covenant love, forgiving grace, empowering service and intimate knowledge, which comprise this model, constitute a major advance in the formulation of a theology of family relationships.

Pre-marital must have!
This book provides fabulous insight into the world of marital intimacy. As I was preparing for my marriage, I found the book to be a wonderful tool for helping to ease the transition into married life and all of the enjoyment that intimacy has to offer. We found within its pages a beautiful guide for husband and wife--it addresses issues such as love, communication, self-image and provides some of those tough answers to questions that are sometimes too difficult to ask. The book was recommended to me by my doctor, and as newlyweds, we couldn't be more grateful for the sensitive advice and information offered by this husband/wife team. "First Night..." also served a wonderful purpose in opening up for comfortable conversation the topic of sexual intimacy with my parents and other trusted loved ones. I would recommend it to parents with soon-to-be-married children! It works wonders! Not only did the book provide us with preparation and insight before marriage, it continues to be a valuable tool even now...even after...the "First Night."

newlyweds must
This is a must for all newlyweds and not so newly weds. A book that covers a very sensitive subject in a very tasteful way. A healthy, happy marriage must also include a wonderful sexual relationship and "First Night and Beyond" covers subjects that are rarely talked about but SO very important.

First Night and Beyond
This is a book that discusses past present and future problems that may affect your intimate relationship. It was written for newlyweds but is helpful to anyone seeking to have fullfillment in their relationship. The unique quality of this book lays in the fact that it is written by a husband and wife team. The format of the book dicusses problems and solutions from both sides. They each have their turn and helping you understand what is going on and how to improve it. It really is a book full of solutions. The format actually teaches you how to communicate. There are several extras in the back of the book that you must be sure not to miss. Each appendix addresses in FULL detail ways to enrich your intimate relationship. You will be able to take your relationship to a whole new level and find out what you are missing.

Authors: Judith W. Rhue, Steven J. Lynn, and Ernest R. Hilgard
Amazon base price: $49.95
Average review score:

Comprehensive
Well chosen content, although Chapter 19 (Multiple Personality Disorder) was not included in my 1997 copy. Not light reading, but a good choice for a general overview.

A Complete Guide to Students
This and the Casebook of Clinical Hypnosis (same editors) are complete guides to psychological students and scientists. I recommend it but you should read their another articles in journals.

Complete guide for research and clinic application
This book explores almost all types of techniques, aplications and researchs in hypnotic procedures. It's a complete guide (if you have Casebook of Clinical Hypnosis) for those who study and use hypnosis in therapy. You can not understand what is hypnosis if you have never read this book. Thanks Lynn, Kirsh and Rhue!

Herbal Rituals
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (1998)
Author: Judith Berger
Amazon base price: $23.95
Average review score:

Intense
The connection I felt to the Earth as an animate being was intensified within the first ten pages of this book. I read another ten and logged back on to Amazon to buy this book for a friend who gardens. It is a simple spiritual journey home.

Gentle and Stunning!
This book is perfectly charming in it's simplicity. Ms. Berger has prepared a guide for herb lovers to enrich the deep respect herbalists already feel for these magical little plants. Along with her personal stories of her past, she ends each chapter with a beautiful step by step ritual that pays homage to the month, the herb, the folklore surrounding both and the wonder of just breathing. I read this book in a day, fell behind on duties, lost track of time, and was completly happy. Of all my herbal guide books, HERBAL RITUALS is my favorite because of it's mysticism, it's kind direction and it's power in restoring the magical wonder we had as children. When I grow up, I hope to BE as full of wonder as Ms. Berger is now...and I'm 32! Bravo!

Beautiful and soulful, this book is much more than an herbal
In beautiful, haunting prose, Judith Berger invites her readers to discover how the cycles of nature relate to so many aspects of our own bodies and souls. She does this in a way all her own. This is a gutsy, mystical book that has the power to make even the most out-of-touch urban misfit (myself included) see nature-and herbs-but also a lot filled with weeds, a faded chiffon scarf, or a crow's screech at dawn--in a new light.

The book is divided into chapters on each month, beginning marvelously, with November. Berger weaves together elements from disparate myths, religious rituals, Native American traditions, as well as memories from her own childhood, to create a living, breathing tapestry for each month, situating the reader in a vivid moment of nature's cycle. She offers recipes for meals, honey, brandies, lotions, medicinal infusions, soothing baths, and rituals in the spirit of each season.

This book would be useful to anyone who wishes to know more about the power of herbs; to anyone who feels cut off from nature, or from their own creative wellsprings; or simply to anyone who delights in magical, inspired prose. That must be why even my friend Mike, an urban, chain-smoking carnivore, to my surprise. fell under its spell, exclaiming, "This book is a gem!"
