One of the best exegesis of Hegel's Phenomenology of the Min
This book is cited as one of the best exegesis of Hegel's 'Phenomenology of the Mind'. As all classics of German philosophers, Hegel's masterpiece is almost inaccessible. I¡¯ve heard that Hegel¡¯s Phenomenology of the Mind is one of the three most abstruse works in the Western philosophy. The other two are Heidegger¡¯s ¡®Being and Time¡¯ and Whitehead¡¯s ¡®Process and Reality¡¯. These works are thorny to comprehend, not to mention just to read through, for the originality of the idea presented in the works. So they are littered with the neologism even their contemporaries never heard of. The established terminology is not suitable to articulate totally novel thoughts. Hegel¡¯s work is not the exception in this regard. The Phenomenology of the Mind is regarded as the culmination of German idealism: Hegel presented his answer in the works to the enigma Kant put in ¡®The Critique of the Pure Reason¡¯, ¡®Ding an Sich (Thing in itself)¡¯. And the answer was the unknown framework at that time. That kind of thought can¡¯t be put in terminology at hand, but should be minted with coined word on its own. But such wording can¡¯t be easy to grasp for the author himself must be not satisfied with his own wording. This book is about the terminology of Hegel¡¯s Phenomenology of the Mind. The author explains organizing concepts appeared in the ¡®Preface¡¯ and ¡®Introduction¡¯. The preface and introduction of Hegel¡¯s Phenomenology of the Mind is notorious for its inaccessibility. Those parts don¡¯t introduce readers to anything, but recap all of the following chapters in its own neologism. That lengthy introduction could be understood only if you finished the last page of the book. Actually the introduction is the conclusion of the book. Hegel¡¯s stance in the ¡®Introduction¡¯ could be reached only through the incremental logical ascending of the following chapters. Terminology in the ¡®Introduction¡¯ could appear only when that kind of argumentation finished. So usually they are recommended to read the ¡®Introduction¡¯ as conclusion. But such feature is a good point to get the gist of the book. So the author of this exegesis positioned there to overview Hegel¡¯s world. W. Marx¡¯s approach seems effective. It¡¯s the good spot not only to outline Hegel¡¯s points, but also to compare Hegel with other German idealists like Kant, Fichte and Scheling, and such comparison is the best way to understand Hegel. This is the strategy W. Marx took and it seems he make it. But this book is not that easy to follow if you have not preliminary knowledge of Kant, at least. This book is not a primer for beginners but for at least graduate student. Anyway I haven¡¯t seen other book that explains better Hegel than this book.

A REAL TREASURE FOR BEGINNERS AND A DELIGHT FOR THE LEARNED!
The book written by Dr. Quirke (Egyptian Curator at the British Museum, London) and illustrated by Mr. Forman (Photographer) is most recommendable. With a clear and concise style, the former introduces to us the historical evolution of the traditional religious literature of Ancient Egypt, i.e., the Pyramid Texts, Coffin Texts and Book of the Dead, not only focusing on the "historical" process but also in the evolution of the contents and the mental horizon expressed therein. There are excellent editions and translations of all of the aforesaid "Egyptian books", but very few in which the connection between the three of them can be traced so neatly as in this one. The superb color plates of the second co-author are an actual mine of visual information on monuments for which much has been written but less has been shown. Most recommended for students of ancient Egyptian religion and writing!!

Wonderful!
There is no quicker way on the road to the truth about Hitler than his own words. Maser presents the Fuehrer as he really was, through his drawings, notes, and correspondence. I am especially fond of Maser's style of presenting things as they really are, without unnecessary negative commentary as is so common in most other works about Hitler. This book is a must!

Human Sexuality at Its Best!
As an instructor of Human Sexuality, I have used several textbooks over the years and I always find that (while adequate) there is always something missing from each of them. You know what that means ... buying and using more supplementary materials.

This is the first textbook I have ever seen that is simply PERFECT just the way it is. I will use it in every single one of my future classes. The students, faculty and staff agree. This is the one Human Sexuality book the whole world should read.

Bravo!

Well researched, balanced study by a German author
Three parts to this book--(1) Major allies of the Germans (2) Smaller air forces (3) Individuals from other countries in Luftwaffe service. The opening of Eastern European archives allowed the author to give comprehensive coverage of air force histories and operations little known in the west. Interesting anecdotes from pilots. Balanced accounts--author gives credit where it is due, which is unusual for a German author. Good selection of photos. Well-rounded bibliography. I found the Italian contribution to Axis (and Allied) efforts the most interesting, especially raids on Gibraltar. Highly recommended study.

Insect Edocytobosis, a predigous book!
This book is a collection of contributions from leading scientists in the field of intracellular symbiosis research outlining the present status of endocytobiosis studies on the most important groups of insects. Emphasis is on the results of ex-perimental symbiosis research on the morphology, physiology, and genetics of selected insect groups. Insights provided by the new interdisciplinary research field of endocytobiology is considered in interpreting experimental results of symbiology. Various insect endocytobionts are discussed with regard to their evolutionary development, reflecting the current status of evolution research. Special attention is given to the phylogenetic and systematic classification of endocytobionts. Also discussed in comparison with the similar system of ticks are all endosymbioses found in roaches, termites, ants, cicadas, coccids, aphids, flies, and beetles. So get this book!

Good text concerning international organizations
The authors bring years of academic and practical experience to this work designed as a college text. What sets it apart from other books in the field is its coverage of international organizations as agents in general, rather than specific histories and functions of particular, well-known organizations, although numerous case studies are presented to illustrate larger points. Specifically, it provides the basis for theoretical models concerning institutional behavior and provides something rarely reviewed from a comparative perspective in texts, international administration. The authors present well-built theories to explain institutional behavior and behavior of the individuals within them. It is a work that fills a gap and the revised edition will be welcomed.

Introduction to the New Testament
Published in Paperback by Abingdon Press (01 January, 1996)
Authors: Werner Georg Kummel, Howard C. Kee, Howard Clark Kee, and Werner G. Kummel
Amazon base price: $35.00
Average review score:

Outstanding Reference - (Not a quick read)
This book is unmatched for its wealth of information in a concise format. It is not a "popular" narrative, but a reference work that provides an excellent summary of the best research on the New Testament. It examines each book from the perspectives of content, literary character, theology, date written, and author. Kuemmel (following his predecessors, Feine and Behm) briefly notes the significant conclusions drawn by previous scholars, drawing together a synthesis of their thought (or indicating who has had the better argument when they cannot be reconciled). The briefly stated conclusions are generally clear, and the citations allow the reader to pursue any further research.

Get this if you are at all interested in Joseph Beuys
If you know anything abouy Beuys, this book will be so interesting to you! As the title says, these are his early drawings, they are great to see in comparison to his later sculture etc. It's is mostly a collection of works, but the tiny book also has information about the artist and by the artist! This is a great reference material on Beuys, and it's pretty inexpensive!
