The book is a slim volume depicting in vivid detail the daily lives of the Ancient Egyptians. A crucial component of this presentation is the marvelous 120 colour plates strategically located to provide a balanced effect and overview. Nothing escapes the author's keen grasp : the Terminal Predynastic, the Early Dynastic with the continually evolving social structure, the economic basis of the country, agriculture, the rise of the necropolis and the funeral cult estates, and how all these factors combined eventually to bring about the downfall of the Old Kingdom. The author demolishes the popular misconception that this was a dictatorial period. It is a creative work for all and serves as a valuable introduction to the beginnings of Ancient Egypt.

This book was very helpful. However, it gave too much advice about things I am good at. Such as skating, simple shots, etc. This is the ideal book for beginners and those who want to get started.

It deals with pollution,pollutants and a detailed overview of various control equipment options possible.

I have only read the original german edition of this book ("Das Politische Leben Eines Unpolitischen" --Piper). Even though the book was written by his widow Elisabeth, it struck me as a serious and thoughtful attempt to provide a balanced picture of Heisenberg's actions and motivations during the war. Anyone interested in Heisenberg and/or the story of a good man faced with an impossible moral dilemma will enjoy this book.

"The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudiah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, The African, written by Himself" is the story of an African man, Olaudiah Equiano (slave name: Gustavus Vassa) who was (evidently) born in 1745 in what is now Nigeria. He was captured by African slave traders, taken to the Atlantic coast, and sold into the slave trade. He was taken to the Caribbean, then Virginia, and eventually Europe. He served a ship's captain and sailed the Mediterranean and on a voyage to explore the North Pole (Greenland). He obtained his freedom and became an author and early anti-slavery activist. The publication of this book made him the best-selling black African author ever (up to that time). This book became a prototype of the "up-from-slavery" autobiography (typified by Frederick Douglass) and is a classic among Atlantic slave narratives.

The book is autobiographical and arranged chronologically, the author detailing events of his African childhood and his years as a slave and eventual self-emancipation. One notable thing about the book is the extent to which it is a travelogue: Equiano clearly enjoys telling travel tales more than decrying the horrors of slavery. His depictions of being a "stranger in a strange land" (e.g., the first time he encounters a clock, a painted portrait, books) are memorable.

The Norton edition is filled with related texts pertaining to Equiano and his times: articles and excerts by other writers about Africa, slavery, abolition, Equiano's birthplace, his literary influences; a useful map; a diagram of a sailing ship, etc. A good choice among several editions of Equiano's book.

This book offers insight into the the conditions of agreement between owner, architect, and contractor, by offering a number of court decisions as presidence, and stating objectively why consideration to the language of the contract is so important. After discussion and commentary on each of the four cornerstone AIA documents, an alternative language chapter is provided. These chapters aid the reader in tayloring the agreement to specific conditions while giving suggestions to the provision. The glossary and table of cases are welcome references for drafting agreements.

It is compareble to the pocket edition published by Gustavo Gili (G.G.) and that has long ago vannished from the stores for having souch a large demand. This version by Warner Blaser has a better quality layout, at a higher price and larger format but keeps the contents to the essence. It doesn't teach you his concepts and goals, it is his works for your own interpretation. For those Mies van der Rohes` fans, it is a book to keep under the pillow.

While the Architect's process is touched upon, the real stars here are the photos of the models and buildings. This book offers the reader a fine sampling of the public buildings by an architect with a strong personal style. Interior and exterior shots (showing context nicely) abound, and the model work is just stunning. Sure to fire the imagination of the architecture enthusiast.
