My mother loved what I made her......
I had this book for a fews years. And wanted try out the patterns. So, I did a eyeglass case with cherries on them. This book is easy to understand & for doing the projects. This turned out wonderful, and was able to put my mother's name on to personalized it. The patterns are so beautiful, and you won't regret getting this book. They have a wonderful Holiday ideas, these are great keepsakes for you,& your loved ones.

Delightful!
I bought this book after receiving Mary Engelbriet's "Cross-Stitch For All Seasons" as a gift. I absolutely fell in love with her designs. My only wish is that she would publish more books with cross-stitch patterns of her artwork. This book has many adaptable patterns for a great variety of projects. If you are a cross-stitcher...you have to have her books!

This book has an adorable chart for an Engelbreit santa.
This first Engelbreit crosstitch book should not be overlooked by those interested in holiday motifs. It includes a wonderful chart for a santa that can be used in a variety of ways. The charts can also be used in needlepoint if the backstitching is omitted. This is a charming collection .

Everything you always wanted to know about pathophys........
I have the first edition of Dr. Lorraine Wilson's pathophys. text and have just bought the fifth edition. It is an excellent resource for any nurse who wants to maintain a current knowledge base in pathophysiology. It is a great resource. It is obvious that the main editor, Dr. Wilson, takes great pride in the accuracy of the submissions and strives to produce a high quality text book. I understand that Dr. Wilson is completing the 6th edition but no word as to when it will be released.

Excellent resource for the new ICU nurse!!!
I have been a fan of Sylvia Price's Pathophysiology text since I first studied for the CCRN exam in 1982. I have bought periodic updated versions since that time and recommend it to all my preceptees and CCRN study group members. The clarity of her authors' explanations makes understanding the pathophysiology of conditions commonly seen in ICU very easy. I do not have enough words to express how highly I recommend this book to any nurse beginning a critical care career.

A Wonderful Book, A Wonderful Person
Positive Pregnancy Fitness is the best prenatal/ labor preparedness book I have had the pleasure to read. Sylvia's manner is wonderful, and her directionss are easy to follow. By utilizing the exercises and meditations contained within, as well as her guided breaths and hand movements, I had a wonderfully easy labor (six hours of labor and nine minutes of pushing!) Everyone with whom I have spoken, having used the Positive Pregnancy Fitness program, has had similar experiences.

We all miss Sylvia, and the light that she let shine forth. She passed away in April, 1997, after more than a decade of fighting Myasthenia Gravis, a rare neuromuscular disease. I am happy to have known her, and proud to be her daughter-in-law.

Excellent book, full of information
I have an older version of this book. I followed the excercises with my first pregnancy back in 1988. The illustrations are easy to follow. There are tips on how to relax and the breathing is better than lamaze in my opinion. I would highly recommend this book for filling your pregnancy with good thoughts and relaxation.

Simply the best
This book is simply the best book about taking care of oneself during and after pregnancy.

The author's view of "fitness" is heavily influenced by yoga, so it includes gentle exercise, nutrition, and lots of common sense. The emphasis is on how the pregnant woman can take care of herself, and not on how to turn to medical practitioners unless specifically needed. The information is well-organized, the writing is clear, pictures and diagrams are used appropriately.

For the past seven years, I have been recommending this book to all pregnant women who ask for my advice. I'm delighted to have a chance to review it on Amazon!

Brooke Bonded
A rare story of a women truly in love her husband and partner in life. A man who had other girlfriends up until his 87th year and discussed them with his wife. Secure in her position with him, she was happy for him to have them - only golddiggers, nymphomaniacs and bores excepted. It is an inspiring love story for its apparent lack of anger or jealously on her part. No one made her laugh the way, he, Vyner did.

Brooke Bonded
Briefly, Sylvia Brooke loved her husband, Vyner. Vyner had many girlfriends and discussed them with her. The only one's she did not want near him were golddiggers, nymphomaniancs or bores. The rest she was happy enough with. None ever displaced her as a key woman and friend in his life. He romanced up to the age of 87, apparently. Judging by her account of their life together, there is an almost incredible lack of anger or jealously on her part. And an acceptance of the man he was. A majority of women would have opted to depart from him and pine away for every. She did not take that road. They loved and laughed together.
For those who advocate more than one partner in life, such as those in the polyamory movement, there will be few life stories better than this to inspire them. This life story rings true and one would love to know more.
The Hon. Sylvia Lady Brooke came from the upper classes, economically or socially speaking. In human terms, also, she was a class apart and inspiring. There is, surely, a lesson here on how to deal with our need for human, emotional and sexual variety. This book is out of print. It should be reprinted.

Interesting and endearing
this book is witty, witty, witty, beautiful language and insightful. I couldn't put it down.

Silkworms are wonderful
This book is the best book on teaching both young children and adults about silkworms. The photographs are wonderful!I use this book the most in school. The kids tend to pick this book up the most when I have the display of silkworms in the room.

Wonderful photos and detailed description
I'm a Japanese and my hobby is making flowers from silk cocoon. Even though I deal many cocoons, it was my first time to see silkworms. Even in Japan, there is few opportunity to see real silkworms... This book tells me a lot about silkworms and silk farmers in Japan.

Excellent resource for teachers. Great photos!
Amazing photos of silkworms and moths. Text explains the entire cycle from egg to silk, and shows modern silk farming in Japan. Highly recommended!

Author Lives on in Our Hearts After Recent Death
My dad Lee McEwen, Sr., author of THE SYLVIA FACTOR, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2000, at 12:15 p.m., from a short battle with squamous cell carcinoma--lung cancer. The doctors gave daddy the diagnosis at the end of July, 2000. Daddy may not be with us in the flesh, but he will live on in our hearts and continue to touch the lives of those who read his book. May you find peace, contentment, and humor as you learn more about WWII and family values. Our comfort comes in knowing we will be reunited once again for eternity with our Heavenly Father. Daddy has other works to be published, so his legacy doesn't end here. Watch for other books by this author.

Very Interesting And Entertaining
The descriptive and unusual experiences of a man raised on a cotten farm who helped build liberty ships and later rode the unpredctible atlantic on merchant marine ships transporting every type from wounded soldiers to war brides makes interesting reading.I could not put the book down.

The Aftermath of WWII and War Brides
This author's first book is absolutely outstanding! Find out what it's like for a country boy, who was a plumber on a war bride ship, learned how women from around the world act. There's a lot of historical information provided also for any WWII buffs!

A science fiction triumph
Why is all of my very favorite science fiction out of print?

Ah, well, do whatever you have to to dig up a copy of This Star Shall Abide. It's an amazing otherworldly tale of a society wherein superstition and tradition are followed as rigidly as possible, for survival's sake, and how that society deals with a man who is driven to question even at the risk of all his dreams.

Like The Giver, this story is sophisticated enough for an adult audience, but nothing is barring intelligent kids from reading it (except perhaps that their parents might not want them thinking too hard about some of the ideas about the nature of authority and the nobility of independence.)

Wonderful, Compelling
BEing an avid Science-fiction lover, I was gleeful when I found this book. I first read Enchantress from the Stars, then the Far Side of Evil. Then I moved into the Star triology. I can't say what happened in the 2nd book because my library didn't have it. This book is captivating and wonderful and delicious in everyway. I recommend it to any person who calls themself a true science fiction fan like myself.

Simply the best
This is probably the best novel I have ever read (out of several thousand) - not just the best SF novel or best young adult novel, but simply the best. It weaves philisophical points about the nature of truth and scientific method into a thrilling adventure of defiance to a represive regeme, with many surprise plot twists. I have a copy that I have saved for over 4 years and will save for another 6 to be able to give it to my niece at the appropriate age.

Marvelous Little Book of A Great Painter
Entrigued with the painting "Votive Portrait of the Vendramin Family" I sought out to learn more of this painter. This book provided such insight in this small yet beautiful expose of his life.
Arranged chronoligically, this book covers the artist's life from his beginnings in Venice with Gentile Bellini. He continues to thrive in Venice, becoming legendary for his portraits. Interesting that what draws me to his works he his legendary for: rich colors and vitality of figures.

Fascinating tidbits of his ties with Reformation and Popes. His supposed last painting, Pieta, has touching self-portrait of his kneeling before Crucified Christ. Touching!
Valuable find that will be referred to.

sumptious
Okay, I'm no great art critic, just someone who appreciates beautiful art. (Just the type of person this introduction was meant for) All I can say is, the book is like Titian's work --in a word, Sumptious. The soft colors and wonderful capturing of feeling in his subjects make Titian one of the great masters, and this little book gives quality pictures of his work. Granted, the size is small, but one can't expect full-size reproductions for 12 dollars or so. Another neat feature is a list in back of the location of all of Titian's works, as well as a list of all of Titian's contemporaries, mostly Venetian, who influenced him, or vice versa. For that matter, the book even includes examples of the work of some of these artists in the main body. Zuffi's text is sparse but informative; he prefers to let the master's art be the main content, and I think this works quite well. All-n-all, a superb volume!

must own
finally, the " total history" school of thought in a pleasant to read and learn approach. beautifully presented, superb selection of titians works, with background facts relating to various periods in the masters life. a must for anyone into art history.

"Who Was Sylvia? Only the beginning!
What a fun book to read. Carol Cail has taken a simple neighborhood and a small alternative newspaper to set an entertaining story. Real life people and real life humor are mixed with a variety of seemingly unrelated characters and the result is a stew that is fun, exciting, and truly enjoyable. The unexpected twists and turns keep you glued and surprised.

Intriguing Maxie Does It Again
Who Was Sylvia? by Carol Cail is another Maxie Burnell mystery that will keep you rivited to your seat, and reading long into the night. The characters are so real they could live next door. The writing is crisp, fresh, and humorous, and Cail's fast paced plotting leads the reader to a satisfying conclusion. Can't wait to read the next Maxie Burnell mystery. Keep them coming!

Who Was Sylvia?
I was anxiously awaiting the next book in the Maxey Burnell Mystery series and am happy to say I was not disappointed. Carol Cail has created a delightful character in Maxey Burnell and it is always fun to get involved in her next adventure. Her characters are genuine people with personalities, situations, and feelings you can relate to. Most importantly, there's always a lively mystery happening that you never lose sight of while you are also unraveling another part of Maxey's life. The reading is easy and enjoyable. If you're a Sue Grafton (Kinsey Millhone) fan, chances are good you'll enjoy Carol Cail's books as much as I do.

Allergy relief
I don't have any allergies but my brother has. I got this book and before giving it to him I read it. It explains what allergy is, what causes it and of course how to deal with it. If you suffer from allergies, i believe this is the book for you to cure them naturally. My brother (who is also against any form of medication) is already doing MUCH MUCH better after following the instructions in this book; improve his immune system, make the environment around him better and understand what allergy is. Simple steps you can take will lead to better living without much effort really. The book is simply written, easy to understand, which I find to be very important. Some books are heavy and boring because there are authors who think that they talk to other doctors and not to simple people who did not study medicine (Sorry for that). Allergy problem? I don't think you will find a better book on the subject than this.

Allergy Relief
This is a testimonial for Barbara G. to write in to Amazon.com about the book Allergy Relief that she read and praised (spontaneously).

I wish people would buy Allergy Relief. It is so clear and simple to understand and there's so much in it that you can do yourself. Besides being good for my allergies, it says many important things about how to live well. I want to be healthy and live a long time and feel lucky that i found this book to help me.
