The bookstore that has stock on this book is the best one.
English is my second language, but when I read this book, I read it without stopping. I have spent the past 25 years travelling around the world with my husband, and spent about the same time searching for the truth of life and universe. Based on my personal research and experience, I can not help but think Madame Blavatsky is not only an extraordinary person, she is also a person with special mission. Sylvia Cranston's book on Madame Blavatsky is, in my view, the most truthful and unprejudiced biography. I have spent four months since last December, trying to purchase a copy without success. Maybe, Amazon.com Bookstore can help me find one.

A must have in the harp players collection!
Hymns and Wedding Music for All Harps by Sylvia Woods.

Are you thinking about playing your harp for others to enjoy? If so then the pieces in this book will be just perfect for many of those special occasions. I have used the arrangements included in the book as processional and recessional pieces for every wedding ceremony where I have played. The hymns are perfect for church services and I have played the traditional Israeli pieces at Chanukah parties. Hymns and Wedding Music is a must in your harp book collection.

excellent pictorial history of actual battlefield relics
This book gives a real world look into the materials used in the Civil War. The chapters pertaining to the use of metal detectors in their early days are especially interesting, making it seem that the soldiers had just been there days before the relics were recovered. A valuable book showing what a detectorist such as myself might find in the field. Excellent pictures and stories handed down thru the years. Robert Wolf

Inquiry into the Life is an excellent lab manual
I have been teaching freshman biology for 15 years. Mader's lab manual is the finest book that I have used. It has informative laboratories with outstanding discussions of the subject being studied. The manual is illustrated attractively, effectively, and amply. I would recommend the lab manual to any freshman biology professor who is interested in traditional labs.

The sidekick of Inquiry into Life
This study guide is so thorough, that doing it tests the material that you have read in the book. There are pictures you fill in and the answers are on the back of each section. Thus, some people have the desire to just copy the answers. The guide is probably more of a summary to the reading from the book and highlights the most important information that is likely to be on a test and is a great preparation for a biology test.

Great overview of chick development inside the egg.
As a fifth grade science teacher I have used this book in my class for 2 years. I hatch chicken eggs every year. The students are obiously excited about the big day. What is unknown, of course, to them is what is exactly happening inside the egg. Somehow, even to 11 year olds, the chick just comes out. I mostly use this book to share the pictures, however, I do share some of the text as well. My students really have a great understanding of how quickly the backbone develops and how the chick develops. This makes the experience much more educational and worthwhile. I am very excited to have the opportunity to own this book rather than hoping that the library has it available each year. For your information, if you are hatching chicks, Carolina Biological Supply has a great poster available that shows the egg day by day. All 21 days are chronicled. There is no explaination of the days, though, so the book is a great partner.

You can play and tap your toes at the same time! Great Book
Irish Dance Tunes for All Harps by Sylvia Woods.

All of Sylvia's harp arrangements have a "high playability" rating with me. Believe me when I say this because I have looked at, and purchased a lot of harp music over the years. No one can arrange for the harp the way Sylvia can! This book is a perfect example of being able to make playable complicated Irish jigs, slip jigs, reels and hornpipes for those of us who are not "professional" harp players. This traditional music gets all of our collective toes tapping. Two introductions are included to help the novice better understand the nature and spirit of Irish dance tunes. I have had a lot of fun, and challenge, from the pieces in this book. It also includes one of my FAVORITE AIRS, Carrickfergus.

Why Out of Print?
I remember reading this book many years ago. I want to buy a copy for a friend and am surprised it's out of print. I remember it as being a good book -- one that really helped me grapple successfully with my own subborn denial process. The book was personal, experiential, and funny -- as opposed to dry, boring, and academic. The funny bit was important because life for me then as a drunk was not very funny.

Jugamos bajo la lluvia
I am a native Spanish speaker. I've been reading this book in Spanish to my granddaughter who just turned 1 year old. The pictures, colors and expressions on the faces are terrific. The different cultures and races portrayed playing together and outside are delightful. Although this book is rated for more advanced ages, I found that my granddaughter now pays very close attention, smiles, and copies the faces as I read along. For example, "Hacemos pucheros." This book will be fun for her for some time. I look forward to when it rains and she can actually say, "Jugamos en los charcos que forma la lluvia."
