All You Can Be
David Kay has captured the essence of military life into short, one page vignettes that will be easily recognized by anyone who served in the Army. It is insighful as well as humorous. David should be proud of his capturing the flavor of his service that was shared by many.

The book every soldier swore he'd write someday
Dave's book IS the book that all of us who have been in the Army swore we'd write someday. He captures the little things... good and bad... that make serving one's country the unique experience that it is. I was acquainted with Dave in the service, and with many of the people he discusses. I also shared many like circumstances, experiences and situations. I would highly recommend the book to "old soldiers" and those contemplating military service, as well as those interested in "the inside story".

All You Can Be
This book is an anthology of single page vignettes taken from the life of a career soldier who is also a medical professional. The life lessons in these stories are applicable to all, not just those with a military connection. It's a great read! Get a copy for yourself, and another for somebody who could use a lift or some insights into life's journey.

Well-written book and a must buy
This book was quite organized and filled with lots of information important for the massage student needing to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I used this book and the following which is also sold on amazon.com:
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers
(Topics: Human Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology) Vol 1
(ISBN: 0971999643)

The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers
(Topics: Clinical Pathology and Recognition of Various Conditions) Vol 2
(ISBN: 0971999651)

The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers
(Topics: Massage Therapy and Bodywork: Theory, Assessment and Application. Professional Standards, Ethics and Business Practices) Vol 3

(ISBN: 097199966X)

The last 3 study guides are on the mark with the type of questions asked on the national test. My advice is to buy all four books. I passed the national certification examination for therapeutic massage and bodywork easily with the help of these four books.

Basic Clinical Massage Therapy:
This book has been wonders for my studies to become a licensed massage therapist. I will keep it handy also in my practice. The illistrations are great, and really help with kinesiology.

Exactly what I wanted!
I know nothing of massage and I couldn't figure out heads or tails from the many massage books I had purchased until I received Basic Clinical Massage Therapy by Clay and Pounds.

Will I read the book in it's entirety and use every method, absolutely not, but now I can literally see the muscles and the anatomy and understand what it is that I'm working on in each and every part of the body and do some good, it's a bargain at $45!

I'd say this is the bible of massage!

INFINITE REVELATION
You cannot imagine how understanding the Hebrew has changed my life, and empowered me to know what, and how supreme Life is. Combined with the New Testament Word Study, this will enable you to see into the Spiritual domain, and enthrall endlessly at the genius and pre-meditation of YHVH's relished Infinite meaning(s) of His name(s), passions and intense paradigms; making His own self-Existent and Eternal Expression personal to you.

A Good Resource to Have
I own many of the author's resources and both word studies. This text really aids in the study of the Old Testament. This was the first word study book that I owned. This easy to use text helps the reader get into the Hebrew Scriptures of the Old Testament.

This text is along the same lines at the New Testament word study written by the same author. It is very usable for the novice readers who are learning about the Old Testament, Hebrew and Aramaic language. I found this to be a valuable resource when I was first learning to get into the scriptures of the Old Testament.

Any bible student, or anybody who wants to go deeper into Old Testament scripture could benefit from this word study text. It really makes learning about the scriptures easy. A more advanced student of the Old Testament may not get as much use from this as a beginner. This text gives the reader enough practical information without getting into the pointless information that is useless outside of a Doctoral thesis paper.

Depth
This book is a must for anyone, not just ministers, seeking to completely understand the scriptures and the original intent behind them. With the Hebrew text in the coloumns this is a perfect study guide. Also includes Strongs reference numbers, a lexial aide and definitions to some of the words. Perfect by itself, and enhanced that much more with a Strongs, as they are made to work hand in hand.

Saddest thing I've ever read
I am 17 years old and almost every page of that book brought me to tears. How anyone even a child could commit such a murder is beyond me. In the beginning of the book the Author recounts all the killings throughout Europes history that were committed by Children and I never thought such things were possible. That book made me want to become a Lawyer so that I could put people like that away. When you are 10 years old you know what your doing you just act innocent and pretend you dont-believe me I know. The last thing I could find on the killers was an article in 1999 about how they had an "unfair" trial because it was public and if they are released they will be given new names, new identities, new social security numbers, and so on, in my opinion that is WRONG. It's wrong to the family of James Bulgar and it's wrong to the people of Europe...

Very disturbing indeed
In Australia, this book was tiled "The Sleep Of Reason," and yes, that is what reason did on the fateful afternoon of 12 February 1993 - it slept, and it slept very soundly indeed, leaving us profoundly disturbed and scratching our heads and asking the perennial "Why? questions that can never be answered. Are, or were these boys evil? Nobody can answer that for sure. Surely a child of 10 knows that when you throw a brick at someone and it hits them, it will hurt. Surely they knew that when you beat someone, blood will be shed. And surely they must realise that when you attack someone and cause them to sustain the grievous injuries sustained by little James Bulger, a likely outcome is death? So, my personal analysis leads me to the conclusion of evil, but that fact is really only for the sociologists and Sigmund Freuds among us to debate.

Totally unbiased, this is reporting at its highest level. Smith describes the atmosphere in which the offenders were bred, their lives before they committed the crime, and the fatal cynergism between them which resulted in a brutal death for a 3 year old boy and a lifetime of grief for his anguished parents.

Do not miss this one
This is one of the saddest books I have ever read.I don't know of anyone who could read it and not cry for poor little Jamie and his family.I hope the murderers themselves get all the help they need, they are after all only children.A very graphic account of a very sad event.Keep your tissues handy.

Great Book
This book presents Pierre Koenigs work very well. James Steele has written many great architecture books and this one is as good as his others. In the book is the most complete and extensive representation of Pierre Koenings work I have ever seen printed. The pictures are large, and very nice. It is a very good book with his work well documented and insightful articles written by James Steele and others.

Pierre Koenig
Excellent book, I wanted to see more.

Koenig, the King of SoCal Architecture
This book shares with the reader the highlights of Koenig's career with breathtaking shots of the case study houses, blue prints, and narration accompanying each. Truly, one of the most spectacular collections dedicated to this incredibly gifted, ground breaking architect.

Religion and American Culture: A Reader

Authors: David G. Hackett and James H. Cone
Amazon base price: $34.95
Average review score:

An outstanding collection of important articles.
The reviewer who said that this was the best book of its kind on the subject is right. I use this book to teach a college course in Religion in America to freshmen, and they find it fascinating. While most books of articles have a few winners and a lot of articles that are not very engaging, each offering in this book is so interesting that I occasionally reread them for pleasure. Hackett and the authors of the articles have keyed in on issues central to the religious experience of Americans from many traditions.

David G. Hackett: Great Dude, Great Book.
David Hackett is an unaturally gifted writer, scholar, and dude. The Reader became an instant favorite of mine upon having the desire to rekindle my days of studying the sociology of religion with Dr. Hackett at the University of Florida. Each chapter provides insight into Americans as religious folk living in a secular world. For all those interested in American religion, culture, and society; Religion and American Culture : A Reader is much more than a competent professor's ladder climbing to tenure. It is a masterwork.

Best Possible Text
I had the privilege of studying Religion and American Culture with Dr. Hackett. This text was effective in its presentation of American Religious History, and made a special effort to include scholarship that focused on forgotten/ignored aspects of American Religious History, including African-Americans, Women, and Native Americans.

While it is of the most benefit to those engaged in formal academic study, it should prove insightful to most any reader with an interest in the subject matter.

Breathtaking photos, wide varitey of beatiful landscapes
I love David and Marc Muench's photography and this book is a treasured addition to my library. The color and production values are exquisite and up to the high standards I expect from Muench.

These photos capture the awesome beauty and fantastic variety in California's natural landscape through the seasons. The book is divided into sections for the mountains, forests & plains, coast and desert.

Muench has brought new life to many often photographed landmarks with his mastery of light and detail. He has also uncovered many beautiful but less known places; dawn & dusk skies, vibrant flowers, delicate waterfalls & more.

James Lawrence's accompanying text touching on a wide range of topics relating to California's natural history is fascinating and entertaining. I have loved spending hours with this magnificent book.

Incredible
This book confirmed my feeling that David Muench is, for lack of a better description, the Ansel Adams of color photography. I already owned his Appalachian Trail book, "Uncommon Places" (I think it's called), but my brother wanted a California-related book for Christmas, so I picked this up, sight unseen. Quite simply, it's breathtaking. The photos span the length and breadth of the state, from Humboldt County's misty redwood stands to the La Jolla coast, to Yosemite and the mountain passes and lakes of the Southern Sierras along the John Muir Trail. There are even a handful of urban photos that make downtown L.A. look quite nice. If ever you doubted that we live in the closest to a natural paradise as there is, take a look at this book, and doubt no more.

Gorgeous Photos
The most beautiful book with California's photos I've ever seen. I have already one book by Muenches and when I so this one I didn't have to open it to make sure it's gorgeous. But it was even better then I expected. It has 4 parts: Mountains, Oak and Grass, Coast and Deserts. So, you are not gonna miss any detail of nature in California (of course poppies, redwoods and spanish moss on the trees are there too). If you want to make somebody going to California give him this book :) I promise anybody will fall in love with California and Muenches' books.

Only One Flaw.
The Nasa Mission Report series are FANTASTIC products. I cannot more highly recommend them. BUT: they only have one flaw. Getting the CD-Rom out of their tight package on the rear page runs the risk of badly damaging the back cover if you're not careful. And that's what I unfortunately did to my copy of Apollo 15. I suggest using a sharp letter-opener very carefully to pierce and open the seal at the top of the CD-Rom's plastic sleeve. What's this book/CD-Rom like? The range of documents and video clips is excellent and the photos are not too bad, but I've seen clearer versions of some of these pictures elsewhere. The video of "In The Mountains Of The Moon" is disappointingly fuzzy and pixelated, unlike the rest of the clips which are very good. Roll on Volume Two!!

The NASA Mission Reports
From the press kit to the technical crew debriefing and everything in between, this book thoroughly describes the Apollo 15 mission. This mission was the first to use the Lunar Rover, the first to venture into a lunar mountain range, and the first to do major geologic work. This book uses the archives of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to document all aspects of the mission. The accompanying CD-ROM contains hundreds of images of the moon, hours of video of the moon walkers, and other interesting information about the mission. The press kit contains all the information given to reporters, including a step-by-step breakdown of the mission; this offers readers a complete, highly detailed study of the Apollo mission. Almost a third of the book is a transcript of the technical debriefing, interesting both because of the personal details of the mission rarely seen by the public and the interactions between the men who were on the mission. This book, along with the others in the series, forms an excellent technical history of the manned space program. General readers; lower-division undergraduates.

Another Great Book From Robert Godwin And Apogee Books
This book appears to have been released to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Apollo 15 mission and contains a great deal of information about this extremely important lunar exploration mission. This mission was the first extended duration lunar exploration mission (3 days on the Moon's surface) and featured the lunar rover, which greatly extended the area that the two astronauts could explore. This Apollo mission is considered to be one of humanity's greatest voyages of exploration. David Scott commanded the Apollo 15 mission and contributes a few introductory pages.

The book opens with the usual NASA mission press kit. Unlike the earlier Apollo 14 press kit, this press kit is significantly larger, due to the increased emphasis on the scientific exploration of the Moon. The next portion of the book contains an excellent section titled "On the Moon With Apollo 15." This section focuses on the geology of the Hadley Rille/Apennine Mountains landing site, the science experiments that will be conducted on the surface and the equipment and tools that will be used to accomplish these tasks. This portion of the book was published separately by NASA in 1971 and a used copy now sells for around 25$. The next section of the book, the Pre-flight Mission Operations Report, presents an overview of planned timelines (work plan), while the next section, the Post-flight Mission Operations Report, presents the actual timelines, points out the discrepancies between the two timelines and describes any problems with the hardware

The crew debrief section, which is about 100 pages long, contains the crew comments and feelings about various parts of the mission and for the most part avoids the technical language that many of the NASA documents include; however there are several sections where the crew practically talks in acronyms. The crew debrief contains crew comments from the suiting up phase to the landing, plus comments about the training (did it or did not help the crew). Dave Scott and Jim Irwin dominate most of the crew debrief, since most of the questioning and mission focused on the lunar surface operations; however, Al Worden has a lot to say about his photographic survey of the moon and his deep space EVA (the first one ever conducted). I always find the crew debriefing quite enjoyable, because it is the closest thing to being there and you get two or three first had view points of various aspects of the mission.

The enclosed CD (be careful it is hard to get out) contains a lot of color and black and white photographs, several NASA films and an extremely interesting feature on the development of the Lunar Rover.

Some general information that might be useful.

1) These reports are just scanned-in documents from previously released NASA press kits, etc., In order to preserve the spirit of the original reports, all typographical and grammatical errors have NOT been fixed.

2) Proceeds from the book goes to "The Watch" an asteroid impact research project of the Space Frontier Foundation. In other words, Apogee Books is making very little off the sale of US government produced books.

3) Many people have asked why the post mission reports are not included. Since NASA has published many books with hundred of pages (The NASA SP series), and the data from these missions is still being analyzed, it would be impossible to do.

Very well written
This book will make you love economics. It covers both microeconomics and macroeconomics. It also explains how monetary policy and fiscal policy affects the economy. Some of the reasonings are counter intuitive however the authors provide very good examples to illustrate their point. I gained a very good understanding of aggregate demand and supply and how they get affected because of fiscal and monetary policy, employment, economic growth, taxes, trade tariffs, exports, imports, and other factors.

it makes you LOVE economics
This is the book that makes you really love economics. includes macro and micro economics. clear, interesting, illustrated with perfect examples. you will love it. Perfect for AP (this text is adopted at Pine Crest School in Florida as their AP Economics Text)

it worth the 100 bucks you payed.

Well written and interesting
If you are interested in economics, you should add this book to your personal library.

This book is very well written (almost lively). It covers macro, micro and international economics in a very interesting way. A very good introductory economics book that will also refresh even the advanced readers.

Excellent book
It is an excellent book!

A MUST, but too lengthy
I used this book to pass tho of the exams. I am confident I will pass the rest. But this book is boringly lengthy. Again it is tooooo lengthy. He is adding many non-relevant text. Almost 20 percent of the book is unnecessary stuff.

BUT, it is the most accurate book. In other books, you can find a lot of errors. This has few. NO book on CNE is better than this book. Some other books are easy to read and understand. But, they are not enought to pass the exam!

What else on the market?
-Why I bought his book? 1. You can fill up the small room with MS stuff books. It's tough to find any decent one Novell book. I believe this is the only authoritive book on the market.

-Why I bought this book set instead of the CNA guide?

1. This book set comes with the evaluation Novell 5.0 CD. CNA study guide 5.0 does not have evaluation CD. Now he has a CNA 5.1 study guide which comes with evaluation CD. If you are interested in getting CNA like me, you might want to check that out.

-How do I like this book?

1. Overall this is decent. I would say "wordy" instead of "fluff.":) 2. Be patient:). He repeats same stuff MANY times. That might be useful way for study.

-Did I pass the exam?

1. Yes I did. No sweat.

-What else do I need to pass the exam?

1. I read his CNA note. It focus more on the exam with useful notes. Basically it's less wordy CNA study guide.

2. I bought a practice exam from certify.com which seems authoritive Novell practice test like Transcender for MS

3. After all those readings and practice test, I feel I spent too much time for preparation. Don't spend too much time and money.

-What's the deal?

1. You need CNA. --> check out his new CNA 5.1 Study guide. Maybe practice test. Remember not to spend too much. 2. You need CNE. --> I believe this is it.

-Why do I write review?

1. IMHO, this book deserves better review.
