Very Good book, if you are really interested on it.
The book explains and deduces mathematically the working principle of many architectures, and presents commented examples (good ones) in structured English (very similar to Pascal). I used it as the basis for many NN's and felt quite satisfied in all cases.

The Single First Source for Neuropathology
As a neurology resident, I find this book to be extraordinarily helpful. It is, as the title of this review suggests, the first text I consult for any neuropathology question. It is also an outstanding resource for concise summaries of the clinicopathological hallmarks of a wide variety of conditions.

The book contains numerous high-quality photographs of gross anatomical pathology and histopathology. The text is well-written, clear and concise. There are a number of handy summary tables in each section. The overall layout of the book is clear, aesthetically pleasing, and visually appealing. The color coding of different sections is helpful in reviewing a given topic, and the index is complete.

Some previous reviews suggested that bibliographic references could be more complete. While this is true, I find it to be a minor point in such an otherwise outstanding text. For comprehensive treatment of any given subject, other, more detailed textbooks are available, but few can rival the clarity of text and quality of pictures in Ellison et al.

From the perspective of an academic neurologist in training, this is the one neuropathology book I want to have on my bookshelf. It is an outstanding contribution to the field.

New Jersey Ferns and Fern-Allies
Published in Hardcover by Rutgers University Press (1992)
Authors: James D. Montgomery and David E. Fairbrothers
Amazon base price: $50.00
Average review score:

Great maps, good descriptions
This book covers every species of fern (and clubmoss and horsetail, that sort of thing) reported in New Jersey, with excellent maps showing exactly where. It also includes good pictures, brief descriptions of each species, range and habitat and lots of interesting comments. Great for finding out what might be in a given area, not as good for identifying a specific sample. Still, I really enjoyed it.

! ! ! This study guide NAILS it ! ! !
Clarke hits every topic on the exam without all the silly 'Super Hero' metaphors (thank you, DJ). If you're not familiar with the utilities (iManager, Migration Wizard, ICE Utility, etc...) there are whitepapers on the Novell Support Site you'll need as well. Also keep in mind that the NW6 support pack (currently 3) will supply minor discrepancies with the text in the book (really not a big deal). Armed with this book as well as the info above, you can probably pass this exam without STS or Transcender (I bought Transcender anyway 'cause it was cheaper than taking the exam again: insurance).

So, for what it's worth, I HIGHLY recommend this study guide!

Rob Huelga,
Netware 6 CNE

A Good Way to Focus on the Gospels for a Year
I wanted to spend a year with just the Gospels, rather than the larger New Testament or the even larger Bible, so I picked up a copy of this book. I have been very pleased. The selection for each day is taken from a harmony of the Gospels (and the entire harmony list is given for reference in the back of the book), so as the year progresses, you move quite thoroughly through the life and ministry of Jesus. Daily readings are accompanied by an explanatory text and an inspirational text. Just a few minutes reading each day gets through it, so it's not really much of a time investment. The translation is easy to read, but corresponds very well to more traditional translations. The print is a decent size (I read mine in a rather dimly-lit church) and the binding is holding the pages in. A word to Catholics considering this book: this book is published by Tyndale, a Protestant publisher, but I haven't found anything in the commentaries that is either anti-Catholic or significantly against Church doctrine. In fact, the only item I have come across so far is a little reference to Jesus' brothers and sisters, which is definitely a Protestant concept, but a rather minor one. I am enjoying this book a lot and am glad I bought it.

Oil and Art
The first two decades of the 20th century were marked by military conflicts, civil wars, genocide and famine. During these hard times a dozen of individuals from both sides of the Atlantic became extremely wealthy by founding oil companies. Among them was Calouste Gulbekian who had generated tremendous wealth from his oil dealings in the Middle East and Russia. Along with his knowledge of the petroleum industry Gulbenkian's passion for art led to a collection of masterpieces that is only rivalled by major museums. Islamic Art, Armenian manuscripts, French Sculpture, jewelry by Lalique, paintings by Rubens, Manet, Gainsborough and others - all reflect Calouste Gulbenkian's different facets of life. Gulbenkian was born in Constantinople to an Armenian family. He studied and lived in London, Paris and Lisbon. Along with his oil dealings in Russia in the 1920s he had also acquired art from Hermitage. In his letter to John Walker, curator of the National Gallery of Art, in Washington, D.C., in February 1953, Gulbenkian wrote: I fully realize that it is high time that I should come to a decision with regard to the future of my collections. You know also how deeply attached I am to them all, in fact, it is without slightest exaggeration that I consider them as "my children" and their future welfare is one of my dominant anxieties. They represent fifty or sixty years of my life and I have collected them, at times with immense difficulties, and always and exclusively guided by my own taste and judgement! Of course, as all collectors do, I have sought advice, but I do feel they are mine, after my own heart and soul!! On October 3, 1965 the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum and the headquarters of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation opened in Santa Gertrudes Park in Lisbon, Portugal.

One of the best literary magazines around
Open City consistently publishes great stories, poems, essays, and artwork. I look forward to each issue, because each one is so different, and because this magazine continues to be vital and relevant, esp. because many literary magazines are so staid and dull....

A Historic Milestone: A book for AI and machine learning
Though I believe I am not the first person writing the book review of this historic book, I still feel honored to encourage the new readers to read this one of most important AI research book published in 1986. The book edited by Rumlhart and McClelland was well organized and well written, comprised of a series of independent and interesting topics in neural network researches given by the dedicated authors. The editors themselves are also reputated authors in the connectionist community. The most results in that book never appeared in the past publications and represented the high-quality papers in the state-of-the-art research at that time. Many papers in that book rank the top position of citation rate even today, e.g. the paper about error backpropagation due to Rumelhart, Hinton and Williams. I also got to point out that the importance of the book not only lies in its scientific contribution, but also its philosophical meaning in the AI research (which is somehow influenced by the book 'Perceptrons' by Minsky and Pappert). The successful research results in that book showed people of the potential and new prospect of neural networks in different perspectives. From then on the second connectionist revolution has sprang and lasted today. Nowadays, people still can feel its leading influence by reading it. Upon reading the book again and again, you will always feel inspired at another new way (that is the value of a book!). Try it immediately.

In a word without exaggeration, the importance of this book to connectionist and AI researchers is like the Bible to Christians. Read it, enjoy it, once and again.

A great source book
This is a great source, it has 19 prestige classes with their respective organization that not only can be applied to the rogue class but also to the ranger and bard classes, their all well balanced, but most importantly you would want to play them all.

It also has 13 legendary classes, this is a great concept, because it will give you more options for high level campaings, and because the tests you would have to take to achive them would give your DM more material for adventures (and this adventures will be very exiting).

The art of the book is also great, some people won't like it because it's black & white, but I think it's perfect for a Book called Path of Shadow.

If you are looking for a great source book with complete information (and that is better than the oficial one) this is it.
