A very useful resource
A very practical, hands-on approach to working with the autistic child.

Extraordinarily valuable resource work
Working on a volunttary basis with Autistic teenagers has brought me into contact with a world of research literature, instructional manuals and 'snake oil', that I never before contemplated. Quill's book stands out as remarkably well researched, with solid scientifically grounded practices referenced frequently. Quill is very careful to document the steps in the pedagogical process and the outcomes that are possible as a result. The purposes and methodology behind each lesson are very precisely explained. Parents and therapists reading this book are left with no illusions of the difficulties facing them in effecting even small progress. I have read at least half a dozen texts (including several of the most recently published) dealing with the same themes, and in mu opinion Quill's text is head and shoulders above the others in terms of the science, the pedagogy and the psychology. If you fancy starting an Autism library - then look at Quill's text. It will save you time, money and disappointment. A tremendous contribution, in my opinion.

very good book for therapist
The book tell us all we need to know to teach autistic children.
I am a practising Occupational Therapist. I find it very useful.

Mary Anne's Revenge (Baby-Sitters Club Friends Forever, 8)

Sweet Revenge
Here's the deal. MaryAnne, as you know, has broken up with Logan. Cokie is still after Logan, and she's also still attacking MaryAnne (you know what I mean).

Both MaryAnne and Cokie are on the yearbook team, or whatever you call it (I read this a few days ago). Cokie is in charge, and she's most enthusiastic about the parts like "Most sporty", "Most likely to be seen in Beverly Hills", etc. Cokie is convinced that she fits in most of this categories, and is being mean to MaryAnne, spreading rumours and everything.

MaryAnne teams up (sort of) with Cary Retlin to get her revenge on Cokie. But in the end...
It really is Sweet Revenge. Read it and find out. The Real New MaryAnne is much better than the Old MaryAnne or the Not Good New MaryAnne. Hope you liked this review.Br

Yo go girl!
By far this is the best book in the bscff series. Mary Annedefinately proved she not just meek shy girl always behind someone todefend her. This time that punk Cokie finally was cut down to size, by Mary Anne. First Cokie made fun her by her big breakup with Logan, then lied about Logan saying that she begged him to get back with him. Also said he going with another girl{which was true}, then she sabotaged the yearbook ballots! . That's when Mary Anne did her own scheming as well, along with the BSC's rival, Cary.In this book you could see Mary Anne try on new attitudes and maturing from the old quiet Mary Anne! She even snuck out of her house! Now that's major improvement! Also in this book Mary Anne and her parents settled long overdue conflicts.Mary Anne has proven herself to Logan, BSC, Cokie, the whole school,... and herself that she is here and here to stay!

A Wonderful Book
I have always loved the books on Mary Ann. I am, like Mary Ann, also very shy and sensitive. After reading this book I walked away feeling braver and stronger. I love the new Mary Ann because she is not only her caring old self but also a new more confident person. This book is really an insperation. It also shows you that when you belive in yourself, with a little help from your friends, you can do anything. This book is a true treasure.

Stories of Hope, Faith and Love
Although our world has made drastic advances, in technological innovations, scientific discovery, and overall change one thing has remained constant. The desire to be respected and loved by one person who you can in turn love and respect. The notion that someone was born and raised to be your spouse has sent many on a journey for love which sometimes ends up being an exercise in futility (or opportunity for growth) yet at other times is the start of something bigger than either party involved. Something "Divinely Appointed."

In A Match Made in Heaven Susan Wales and Ann Platz share the experiences of many who were successful in their quest like Dr. Robert Schuller who shared the results of his "self-centered prayer" and how through it he became consumed, "not by a person, but by divine destiny." (p. 37). In "The Prayer," Susan Wales was asked to pray for a speaker she never met who lived across the country and required immediate vocal surgery. Just prior to her own wedding years later, her friend revealed to her that she had prayed for her husband.

While love-at-first-sight is the encounter of many matches made in heaven, others sometimes later find that the very one they were looking for was right under their noses all along. Like "Bob" a New York attorney with small town values he shared with his secretary "Elizabeth" who came to New York to be a dancer. When Elizabeth learned that Bob was about to propose to "Laura," an attorney and daughter of wealthy New Yorkers she was heartbroken. Elizabeth congratulated Bob on his engagement and submitted her two weeks notice. A few weeks later, after Bob lost an important case and Laura showed a lack of interest when he tried to discuss it he began to wish that she were more like Elizabeth. Finally Bob realized that what he was looking for was right under his nose along. After canvassing his office for information on Elizabeth's new job he found her pursuing her passion, teaching dance to children. He invited her to lunch after her class and professed "You are the love of my life, and I want you to be my wife." They were married six months later. Through the motif of the proposal to every element of traditional marriage vows, Wales and Platz share a myriad of heartwarming and joyous stories of special days, trying times, and the eternal bond between husband and wife.

Through yielding to God's Divine will for our lives, we can all experience A Match Made in Heaven.

It touches your heart and makes you cry.
I was so touched by this book. The stories in it are incredible stories of how love conquers all. The best part being, of course, that they are almost all 100% true. They'll hit your heart. Keep a box of tissues close at hand!

All God's creations can bring loves together.
Excellent little views of how God uses all of His creations to help ordinary people find love. For example, "The Pet Sitter", by Dee Ann Grand. The prevailing thread of hope, faith, and always believing in God and yourself is a much needed theme in today's writings. Thank you!

An Excellent Read
"The Western King" is by far the best book in the Rune Blade trilogy. Although the first book, "Kingmaker's Sword" is also a very good book, "The Western King" definitely surpasses its prequel. Donaugh is a vivid character, and the reader's heart aches when he cannot find fulfulment.

A rare find these days
This book was great. There was romance, but not overt sexuality, a good PLOT, and realistic characters. I loved the characters especially. I read this book in about a day, so if you buy this one, get book 2 also, otherwise you'll have to run out to get it or wait for it to be delivered.

Dark and captivating
After reading Kingmaker's Sword, I was actually reluctant to read the sequel, for the simple reason that I didn't think it would live up to the predecessor. Was I wrong! The Western King succeeds on many levels, though not necessarily in the same ways that Kingmaker's Sword does. The humor here is muted in exchange for a very strong sense of fate and sacrifice. The actions centers around Kian's three sons: Keylan and his younger twin brothers, Tiernyn and Donaugh. I felt immediately drawn to Donaugh, who, as youngest brother, constantly (and willingly) stands in his brother's shadow. Although Donaugh is indeed the main character, his character remains shrouded in mystery even at the end of the book. I approve of this. The combination of his sense of compassion and duty and destiny is compelling. Donaugh, seemingly overlooked by the gods, slowly becomes their tool, the salvation of his people, and the "blood and bone" of Celi. His powers are never fully revealed, even at the end, which makes his silent life of service all the more intriguing. Not every character is so thoughtfully painted. Despite his supposed charisma, I never did become attached to Donaugh's twin brother. Donaugh's love life is unfulfilling, both for him and the reader. Besides having a knack for getting together with the wrong girl, his one true love is unearned and unexplained. The intention was sweet, but undeveloped. I did enjoy wrestling with the prophesy about Donaugh's sons, though, because I could imagine many different ways it could be fulfilled as the plot twisted. Ann Marston handles destiny as does no other. She controls the impending mood of the book well. Overall, the author weaves a web that will draw you in and demand you read more.

An oracle of universal spirit!
This oracle is beautiful. Tho the setting is Christian, it is an oracle of the universal spirit. I've only skimmed it thus far, but very much appreciate the questions and suggestions sections, which give LOTS a specificty that many oracular interpretations lack. The book is informative and well laid-out. Blessings on DORIAN for creating a guiding light for many.

Nancy Brady Cunningham, author - FEEDING THE SPIRIT, I AM WOMAN BY RITE, and TAROT CELEBRATIONS

Casting Lots
I can't say enough good things about this book and card set. It most certainly will change lives. The guidance is always profound, you may find the truth hard to swallow at times but God doesn't pull any punches. I highly recommend this to anyone seeking, asking and not sure. Allow yourself enough time to ponder and meditate on readings and you will find your answer is surely there. I wish I could give it 10 stars

This is a wonderful/spiritual/metaphysical system of aid.
Hello, I loved the book and the cards. They bridge the gap between organized religion and metaphysics. They add depth and meaning when used in conjunction with the tarot. The book addressed my heart, as I feel much the same way as the author. This system is wonderful!!!

Woman cruisers, share your experiences
As a female cruiser and sailing gal, I found "Changing Course" a useful guide. Although I seem to be in the minority, (I sought out the cruising partner,) rather than the usual - mate of the cruiser "going along for the ride," I learned some valuable lessons in Debra Ann Cantrell's book. I actually read it already a year into my first voyage. Yet, the chapters on managing fear and interpersonal dynamics were especially useful. You can't take enough skills along with you. The chapter on ways to make cruising more rewarding also proved to be fun! I was excited to see just how many I had already accomplished. I'm now working on # 48, and of course, #23 is underway again!
Debra, thanks for writing a useful guide for women!

Guys
When you asked what your wife thought about buying a bigger boat and sailing away, was your suggestion received enthusiastically?

If not, YOU NEED THIS BOOK! It is worth its weight in gold. It will answer all her questions, and it will give you a better understanding of her point of view, and let you know what you need to change about yourself to help get her on board.

Changing Course: A Woman's Guide to Choosing the Cruising Li
An excellent book on making the transition from the current life you know to one of great change and adventure. Debra Cantrell brings forward all the pros and cons that she and other women in her study experienced in choosing the cruising life.

I felt that this book would be a great source of information and inspiration for women faced with this life changing decision.

From my prospective, it provided me with a greater understanding of what my wife was struggling with in making my dream of cruising a reality. Through our discussions surrounding this book, we have now reached a common goal of cruising that will be exciting for both of us.

#1 Choice for the Beginning Teddy Bear Artist.
I think this book is a must for any teddy bear artist - but especially appropriate for those who are beginning, like myself. It is easy to follow and very well illustrated. I look very forward to finishing up my first teddy bear! This book has illustrations of bears created by many of today's top bear artists as well. Very inspiring.

A must have for all teddy bear makers and beginners!
I just purchased this book today and I have completed my first bear just moments ago. The book is very informative, has step by step instructions, and quality pictures for guidance. This is great for beginners and the experienced as well! It also gives you great tips on how to give your bears unique personalities. A++++

Fanastic reference for the rookie or advanced bear artist
This book contains a wealth of information for even the advanced bear artist. Whenever I need to refer to a basic pattern flow or vary the look of the bear, I always use this book. I recommend this book to anyone interested in designing your own bear with a little help from an excellent author.

Maggie in the Kitchen
Restaurant Lulu's line of Mediterranean gourmet products reflects the training and culinary experiences of Chef Jody Denton, executive chef at Restaurant Lulu since 1995. Formally trained in the old-world cooking tradition, Denton has worked with such innovative restaurateurs as Wolfgang Puck, Mark Miller, and Rich Melman. He credits hot only this experience, but also extensive travel for inspiring the Lulu line. Denton returns with more than just traditional recipes. Many of the Lulu products are reinterpretations of classic Mediterranean staples and others are little known gems new to American palates. While the hearty cuisine of Provence inspires many of the products, others draw upon the cooking of Italy or North Africa: a truly pan-Mediterranean palette of flavors.

Outstanding Southern Cuisine with Twist!
Having desired this cookbook for awhile, not disappointed in the least now that its in my collection.

This is rich book, with a rectangular format with big print and nice photos accompanying each recipe, which is given in adequate instructions and comments.

Knocked out by the variety and creativity of this recipe collection. They combine so many tastes and styles here --- Moraccan, Asian, Mexican, etc. Try these and you'll go bonkers as I--- Spicy Green Tomato Soup with Crab & Country Ham, Moraccan Roasted Eggplant Bisque with Grilled Chicken and Minted Yogurt, Roast Squab with Blackberry Essence & Carrot-Thyme Spaetzle, Pan Fried Mountain Rainbow Trout with Green Tomato and Lime Brown Butter Salsa on Sweet Potato, Artichoke and Crawfish Hash, or Grilled Sturgeon on Wild Rice Risotto with Butternuts, Grilled Leeks, and Cider Reduction.

Desserts are exceptional here, especially: Brown Sugar Pear Poundcake, and the Banana Pecan Crostata with Jack Daniels vanilla ice cream.

Super creative food, that takes some time and attention to prepare, but the results are worth it.

Recommended for the serious cook who likes this food which ventures to truly zap the diner with flavor, flavor, flavor. Excellent!

The Barkers are the Best!
I'm a recent transplant from New York and have been spoiled rotten by its hundreds of cutting-edge restaurants and innovative chefs. But I have to tell you, the Barkers and Magnolia Grill are right up there. As a rule, I find chef cookbooks beyond the capabilities of the average-- or even the advanced-- home cook. NOT AFRAID OF FLAVOR is the exception. Not only are its recipes inviting, they're approachable. Moreover the story of the Barkers and their Durham, NC restaurant is warm and appealing. Thanks to the Barkers (not to mention several other local chefs they've mentored), this red-clay country is no gastromic wasteland. Even my New York City friends are impressed. I've given NOT AFRAID OF FLAVOR to half a dozen of them and they're as impressed by the cookbook as they are by the cooking they sampled at Magnolia Grill. From a huge Barker fan.

be careful - may be wrong version
this is a great book, at least in it's original form. i first saw it in the doctor's office. our pediatrician says that it's his favorite kids' book. however, the 2 copies I received from amazon were a shorter version, only 24 pages. in this shorter version, the action ends abruptly with the house in a mess. in the real version (30 pages - the one that's advertised here) there is a final verse in which the animals hurriedly clean the house before the parents come home. make sure you get that one!

Who knew there was a longer version?
My one-and-a-half year old got this book as part of a package which includes The Lady With the Alligator Purse, Miss Mary Mack, and a cassette with singing on one side and music only on the other. She loves all three books, but this one and The Lady With the Alligator Purse in particular. My only complaint is that the music is on a cassette, not a CD, so I can't play it in my car (though I suppose that may be a blessing of sorts), and I can't skip a track easily. Also, I hadn't realized that this is a somewhat shortened version until I read another review at Amazon. I had also felt that it ends a bit abruptly, though my daughter isn't worried about this point in the least. Anyway, great fun for all.

colorful, joyful telling
This is a great version of this classic song. A little boy is left in charge of his grandparents' farm and things begin to go wrong right away.

The layout encourages singing along though it's not necessary -- you and your kids will still enjoy these funny and colorful watercolor animals as they joyfully misbehave.

Fun, lively, colorful.

Ok text for beginners
I am currently teaching a class using this text. I think that it is OK- but I personally would prefer Stallings or Tanenbaum. Stallings and Tanenbaum are much more engineering or technically oriented.

I have come across a number of small annoying errors in Forouzan's text, as well as a number of opinions that he puts out as facts. Of course I wouldn't be annoyed if his opinions and mine agreed - but he could at least properly identify them. This mostly is a problem with what technologies are "winners" or "losers" in the marketplace, or what dificulties are presented with trying to implement some of the protocols mentioned.

If you want to know how stuff really works go with Stallings or Tanenbaum. If you want to know how to communications is used by a business - there are a number of other texts that are far better. I feel like this text is half-way in between. Unfortunately I am unable to change what text we are using here...

Excellent entry level text
I teach a second year under-graduate (degree) course in Data Communications and Networking. This is the first networking paper that students will take. I have used Shay, Stallings and Tanenbaum in the past but have changed to Forouzan because I believe that it does an excellent job of introducing concepts at a level that is readily understood by a novice. Student feedback confirms that it is about the right level and that they feel they actually understand the text - quite a bonus ;-)

Another review recommends the above authors - and I agree they give an excellent treatment of the topic - but they require an advanced student. I would select Stallings or Tanenbaum for a paper that follows the introductory paper (we actually use Comer for the advanced paper which is specifically TCP/IP)

Forouzan's "Data Comms and Networking" is clear, plainly written - yet gives a good depth to the topics being considered. The diagrams and practice questions are excellent.

I highly recommend this book for an introductory under-graduate text.

A Seminal Text
This book is one of the great texts on the subjects covered. It has been a required text for two undergraduate and one (so far) graduate class that I have taken.

Mr. Forouzan's prose is clear and his examples understandable. The only thing that might make portions of this book a difficult read for some people is the complexity of some of the material covered. The book starts at the electrical (Manchester encoding, NRZ, etc.), and gradually builds until the networking process is clear, top to bottom. In terms of completeness, I have not seen another book that covers everything from the LAN to the WAN like this book. Also included are related topics like cellular networks, PSTN, encryption, and even the application layer of the OSI model. The complete OSI model is covered with great depth.
