A Hysterical Book!
As I read through "Are You Anybody?", I never went more than three pages without laughing out loud at something. Dillman's book is highly enjoyable because it doesn't hold back on anything that's funny, even on issues of personal embarrassment. Just as he once invited a transvestite fan club into his home, Dillman and Parker invite you into intimate and hilarious episodes in their personal and professional lives. One incident after another shows the absurdity of life behind the camera, and how you can't help but laugh at all the things that go on.

I was a little disoriented by the fact that the book did not progress through the events of his life in chronological order, and leap-frogged back and forth through different times of his life. While Dillman is not a "professional" writer, his style makes for a good read and I believe that he does an excellent job with this book. Don't let this one sit on your shelf and gather dust. It's worth the trip!

An illuminating, touching and very funny read.
When I discovered that Bradford Dillman had written a biography, and that its title was "Are You Somebody?" I ordered it immediately. Growing up in the 60s and 70s, Dillman was always a favorite of mine and it was such a pleasure to read his self-deprecating, funny and very wise observations and bits of gossip about making movies and TV series. He has great memories to share about the likes of Fredric March, Orson Welles and William Shatner, and so many others. I only wish the book had included some photos of his wonderful career. I recommend this book highly. It'll make you laugh and it'll warm your heart.

Last of the great role players ...
Did you ever stop to think about what gave screen legends their unique qualities? ... fine supporting actors like Bradford Dillman. His book is an easy and entertaining read, and humorously encapsulates his Hollywood life as a man who saw success, but never managed to get both feet under the spotlight. Having won the love of the beautiful model/actress Suzy Parker, Bradford is also a man of distinctive taste, because I've been smitten with his wife ever since I saw her performance in 1958's "Ten North Frederick" over 25 years ago. This is a couple I would really like to sit and chat with, and Dillman's book is as close as a die-hard fan like me is likely to get in this lifetime.

Failed potential
This book offers a variety of ice cream recipes. The authors include many favorites for ice cream, sherbets, and sorbets. The color photos are a plus. The book groups recipes by season.
There is one major drawback which prevents me from recommending this book. Recipes call for uncooked eggs. Many call for 3 or more eggs or egg yolks. Salmonella is a real concern, especially for the young, elderly, and immune impaired individuals. The authors do not mention this potential hazard. They should offer a cooked egg alternative for those who are concerned.
I received this book and an ice cream maker as gifts. I plan to make the basic vanilla and chocolate cooked ice cream recipes included in the ice cream maker's instruction booklet, and use this book for ideas on adding ingredients to create flavored ice creams.

Highly recommended for family meals and festive occasions.
One of the most enduringly popular deserts and recreational foods is ice cream. In Ice Cream For All Seasons, Deb Tomasi and Suzy Gardner collaborate to present a culinary wealth of delicious recipes for gelatos, ices, sherbets, and sorbets. From Spumoni, Raspberry Mascarpone, Honey Vanilla, and Cream Soda to Pecan Praline, Cinnamon Stick, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, and Triple Chocolate Overload, Ice Cream For All Seasons showcases a spectrum of ice cream delights that will please any palate as well as enhance any Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter family meal time feast or festive occasion.

NO TIME OVER THE STOVE ..........
This Ice Cream book is what summer is all about. Most recipies require no cooking time over the stove and waiting for the mixture to chill, you get out your blender and Ice Cream maker and in 20 minutes you have Ice Cream. It doesn't get any better than this.

The least useful travel book I've bought
I bought this book because I had a positive experience with the Hong Kong version (which is substantially better) during a trip 5 years ago. I did not expect much from this book, but it managed to disappoint anyway. The writing style is so conversational and unstructured that it quickly becomes annoying.

I could put up with the writing style if it was not so obvious that the author was filling space to make up for the lack of content. Basically, if you plan to shop for designer clothes and purses in the big cities and want to know where the designer stores are, then you might get some use out of this. Beyond that, the content is severely limited. Probably the worst example I can think of involves an outlet store. The author admits that she could not even find the place, yet she still included it in her book!

This book was indispensible
I just returned from Italy and used this book almost every day. We loved the directions for finding great bathrooms. This book is not just about shopping but tells you all the hints you wish other guide books would tell you. It's very practical and best of all small and light. Her suggestion about how to reach your hotel from the train station in Venice was the best. Thanks for such a great little helper.

My Shopping Bible
A must-have for serious shoppers! I was so engrossed in this book I did not notice my plane was delayed on the runway 1 1/2 hours. The attention to detail was impeccable; I used the maps to plan a different shopping trip every day, making the best use of time. Thanks to the tips, I was able to shop on Via della Spiga without maxing out my Visa. Advice like this is indispensable; I was able to bring home the perfect souvenir for everyone and stock up on leather goods during July sales for Xmas gifts. The Born to Shop series allows me to look forward to business trips and constructively deal with jet lag. I earned a Ph.D. in Italian designers, and Peck and Frette linens are among my passions all thanks to this book!

Interesting, but not as original as others
Suzy McKee Charnas is better known for her adult fiction and non-fiction (she is the author of _The Verbal Art of Self-Defense_). I picked this book up for a buck and thought, what could I lose?

The better question may have been, for a buck, what could I gain? That's not to say that this novel is bad. Charnas is too much of a professional to have written a *bad* book. And there are some little twists to the genre that she nicely pulls off. But, on the whole, it's rather unimaginative.

The protagonist is a girl whose favorite aunt has just died, and she's quite bummed about it. So when she finds herself slipping into another world from Central Park, she is skeptical--especially since the hero of this other world is Kevin Malone, a bully who used to pick on her.

As I said, not a bad book. There's your typical walking skeletons, and the little people, and the quests. But there's also a more gritty, personal nature to the protagonist. I'm not sure it is altogether successful, but it was at least interesting.

SUSPENSEFUL and full of EXCITING things at its VERY BEST!!!
This book was awesome! I could hardly wait to start reading it again after I went to school or had do something. I encourage everyone to buy and read this book. Believe me,it's on my top favorite list!! So,don't waste any time in reading this delightful, enchanting, engrossing fantasy book!!

I Wonder
This book was really good. I wonder what the creatures that Kevin created looked like. And I would definately buy the sequel. If there is going to be one.

Horrible Harry and the Ant Invasion
I give this book three stars because you enjoy it when you read it but it is not a book that deserves five stars.I recomend this book to somebody because sometimes you get board reading the same book there are four stories in this book and they are interesting because they have many details about the characters and when things happen that have to do something with them you wont think it is wierd.

Horrible Harry and the Ant Invasion
This book is about Harry and his classmates. They had a Show and Tell fun day, and one out of six students brought a container of ants into school. Harry dropped his container and there was an invasion of ants. A while later the teacher came in and screamed, "Ahhhhh!" Harry comes to the rescue. Read to find out how Harry solves the problem. This book reminds me of when I went camping and we had a snake attack.

Very Good
This book is very cute!!

This was SUCH a stereotypical book!
Not only was this book one of the typical, some little fourteen-year-old-girl-has-to-save-the-world-or-it-will-all-be-destroyed book, which it was, but also the writing was REALLY undescriptive. I don't have an example right now, because I had to borrow the book from the teacher, but I can remember that it was really annoying, to the point where I actually noticed, which is really saying something.
And sometimes, people did really stupid things that they knew would have had no effect whatsoever, like at the end, when the monster was in the water, she threw her wallet at it, which was full of silver coins that her grandma gave to her! Useful. I would have done that, too...
And if I came home and the linoleum from the kitchen floor was gone, I would be at least sort of freaked out...

Undescriptive, stereotypical plot
The first thing about this book that bugged me was the fact that it had extremely undescriptive writing. 'I saw my mom. She slapped me so hard I saw stars.' Doesn't say much, does it?
I find the plot to be very steriotypical: there is a big monster that's going to destroy the whole world, and you're the ONLY ONE who can stop it!
Also, the characters seem to have almost no personality. I had to write a book report on this book, and when they asked, the only difference that I could find between Joel and Paavo was that Paavo smoked tobacco, and Joel smoked marijuana. I think that speaks for itself.
And one last thing, it bugged me when, when the monster was there, she threw her little coin purse at it that was full of silver coins that her Grandma gave her! Like that's going to do anything. What a waste.

Childhood Favorite..
This book is what every fantasy should be like. It's perfect, exciting, funny and thoroughly wonderful. All fantasy fans and fans of New York City should read this book!

the book of separatist feminist fears
A superficial look would result in discarding the book as a summary of the irrational ideology separatist lesbian and feminists tend to harbour. (I have met some so I can compare with real life.) But apart of revealing the abstruse ideology of these social fringe group the book does more: it captures the reader in a world of struggle of a formerly oppressed group against the dominant group and exposes the underlying ethics or nonethics beneeth. The atrocities described in this book are real, happening today in various countries torn by civil war, be it in the former jugoslavia, in ruanda or in afganistan. This book sheds light on the sociolocal and psychological dynamics and this is its very strenght. Apart from that it is one of the very few books where I skipped whole chapters because of boredom - but still was intrigued ennough later to return and find out what actually happened in the story. Even decieded to buy a sequel.

But then I collect queer s/f and fantasy books.

Great book
Hard to believe anyone could find anything in it boring enough to skip through. I tore through it in a day. The characters are especially well drawn and distinct. I don't know how Charnas does it.

The themes aren't wishy-washy and wimpy. Don't you want to yell at the book sometimes? Or at least what the people do and think? Yes. That's good.

Some have found the sequel, "The Conqueror's Child" to be better, or "Motherlines" before it, but this one is in my opinion the the best, most brutal one of the bunch. It's fast and action-packed, one of those great showdowns, vindications, coups de grace, whatever.

Sorry this is a patchy review, I tried!

A powerful and evocative novel.
The Furies is a book that makes you think. I found it captivating and couldn' t put it down once I started it. Alldera is a heroin complete with self-doubt and other human failings. Her relationships with Sheel, Eykar Bek and her own people, the Free Fems make for great action and emotion. A totally believable character. I found the Riding Women of the grasslands facinating.

not our favorite Horrible Harry book
We have read several Horrible Harry books in our homeschool before. My 7 year old son saw this audiobook at the library and we checked it out.

The book might be okay for some older children but I didn't like the fact that it had the guide on the field trip telling ghost stories. Other than that the book was fairly funny and cute. Young kids see enough scarry things on tv and I try to get books that leave that factor out.

Horrible Harry Moves Up To Third Grade
In this book, Harry and his friend, Doug, think they are on another planet because there were all new teachers at their school. I think children my age will like this book because it is very funny. I know that kids like comedy. My favorite part is when they go on a field trip to a copper mine. At the end, someone gets lost, and the teacher gets scared. Read to find out if they find the lost child.

Great Fun!
Horrible Harry is at it again...only this time he is a year older! With the lovable cast and crew along for the ride, Harry once again delights his audience with his creative adventures. Kline is clearly attuned to the way children think and communicate. A winner!

Not really a story
This book was pretty awful. I only say that because it was not a story - it was a bunch of occurrences just thrown together on pages. There was absolutely no discernable storyline. what a shame, because it could have been interesting. The way everything was thrown together came off as an attempt to create something, but what, I don't know. HORRIBLE. Completely not recommended. Suzy Spencer did her readers a terrible injustice - it was like she compiled it from a bunch of newspaper clippings.

Sad Story
Suzy Spencer writes an interesting story of a little girl lost who's love for the wrong person, gets her killed. You really get a feel for the characters and what they are like. You want to give Regina a hug and tell her everything will be ok. You want to kick Kim in her manipulative butt and you want to lock Justin up, and throw away the key. As for Anita and Jeremy, it seems they were the only two people who really cared for Regina, and they should find peace in knowing what good friends they were. I couldn't put the book down and like another reviewer, I had wished for a different ending. But unfortunately, it was not to be. The true crime in all of this is how one person got away with murder.

Money Can't Buy Love Or Happiness...
This is a terrible tale about a woman (Regina) who used her money to gain popularity, and happiness. We all know you can't very well BUY happiness, so things don't go as Regina Hartwell plans. She meets Kim LeBlanc in a gay bar in Austin, Texas. Regina was hooked at first sight on Kim LeBlanc. Kim, seeing this of course accepted the money and gifts thrown her way, but ignored Regina's advances. Kim was straight and dating a drug dealing personal trainer with a violent streak named Justin Thomas. Justin soon grew tired of Regina and Kim's constant complaint's about the advances. Justin killed Regina, while Kim knew about it and said nothing. In fact Kim helped cover up the crime while posing as the heart broken friend.

Suzy Spencer tells a fascinating story, that will put you practically in Austin. I am a frequent visitor and her descriptions were on the money. Suzy also focuses on Regina's real friends, who actually cared about Regina. This is a book that focuses on Regina's life mostly of course, but also delves into Justin and Kim's life as well. There are a few snippets that might be disturbing to even the true crime reader. The picture section also might take a little to stomach. But, this is a essential read for a true crime fan. It adds credibility to the saying that money can't buy you love.

Fantastic reference for first time vistors!
If you have never been to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, this book by Birnbaum is a nice, concise way to quickly get up to speed on the resort. After a major expansion in 2000-2001, Disney Imagineers have transformed the Walt Disney's original "Magic Kingdom" into a multiple-theme-park resort. Truly an insider's perspective, the book provides easy to follow (albiet optional) itineraries to both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure; provides cost and recommendations for the restaurants in and around the parks; and lays out the various lodging options, both Disney and non-Disney. Returning Disney guests will most likely not find anything new or revealing in this volume; however, it serves as a wonderful refresher to what has changed since the last visit.

It is not accurate
I have been buying this book since 1992. They say in the book they are not in anyway writing their reviews under the eye of Disney. That is not true. There is nothing negative in the book. I am a regular visitor to Disneyland & there is alot of negative things to say about it...long lines, closed up restaurants, rides, shops, high prices, etc. I enjoy the book, but make it more correct & be honest!

Sold In Disneyland!
This is the in-house guidebook to Disneyland, the Happiest Place On Earth. As a result, it tends to be biased, uncritical, and unadventurous. Has some good information on rides and attractions that are not found elsewhere.
