The No 1 speaking manuel!
This is one of the best books that I have ever read on public speaking. It has many ideas on how to do a speech from starting to ending. The book goes to the core of how the process actually works with lots of ideas to improve your skills. It gives many ideas on presentations, questions, structure, organisation. She has a passion for this subject which comes across in the pages I have improved using the techniques. It is not easy speaking in front of groups and we all need all the help that we can get! This is probably the best manuel of speaking that you will find it is packed with ideas which will enhance your skills and make them more effective. I do recommend the audio version of this book because it brings the message more alive; and will give greater appreciation of the subject. All that is required that you put forth the effort and practice!

Powerspeak will help the Novice & Experienced Public Speaker
Dorothy Leeds' Powerspeak is very generous with tips and experience about public speaking and it problems. Solutions are presented from speech- writing, presentation, audience relations, room preparation, working with meeting planners, and so much more. Readers can read these techniques. Public Speaking is a skill to be developed with practice. The reader should be involved with public speaking classes or Toastmaster clubs. This book is worth more than it's cover price and will pay back the reader very generously. The book is highly recommended for the novice and the experienced public speaker.

you won't wanna put this baby down...
fascinating reading from cover-to-cover!

Great Reference Book
As a textile artist and textile conservation technician, I know that people often make serious mistakes when dealing with old textiles. This book gives collectors the opportunity to hear from experts how to store or exhibit their objects without harming them. For the more ambitious (and courageous) it gives guidelines for safely cleaning textiles and stabilizing damaged areas. This book is well organized, clearly written in plain language and with beautiful illustrations and photographs that will help the reader visualize the techniques described. It would be a valuable resource for any serious collector or for anyone with an attic, closet or cedar chest filled with neglected treasures.

My favorite Her Story book.
This book is about Priscilla Foster, a 12 year old girl living in Salem in 1692. Priscilla's friends have started accusing innocent people of being witches and before she knows it Priscilla has joined them in accusing people. Priscilla wants to stop but she finds herself unable to. This is my favorite Her Story book.

Best Her Story Book
Priscilla Foster is one of the girls who see witches in the Salem Witch Trials. She tells her grand-daughter about her tragic and terrifying tale. Gives a must-read account of the trials.

A VERY IMPORTANT BOOK!
This book reveals the mind of the learning disabled student as perhaps no other has before. The author's strong professional credentials and her ability to write insightfully serve as the foundations for a great read. As an attorney who works with disabled juveniles, it seems clear that professionals, parents, students and anyone else who cares about quality education can benefit by becoming sensitized to how disabled students react to their educational experience.

Shows how some kids "slip through"
I am a college student and was not happy when I saw that we had to read this book. But, once I got started, I was glued to it. A very easy book to read that keeps moving along. THe ending will really surprise you! A must to read if you deal with kids at all or have kids!

Well written family story is rich in east coast US history.
A good read. This story of a New England family over three generations does a nice job of personalizing concurrent American historic events. Especially good for those of us who have a hard time swallowing history in its pure academic form.

A lively close look at the famous families of Boston.
A key to the mysterious "great names" of New England, this lively and well written account of the Winthrop family is a real winner. For anyone who has spent "Time in New England" as a vistor, student, or resident, this fast moving yet through work is enlightening reading. In addition, it is a great story of a wonderful person, cleverly written by a loving hand. The numerous illustrations are masterfully done. It is a revealing view of American history, credibly told from the inside.I had a hard time putting this book down until the last page.

Inspiring reading!
A beautiful look at the life and mind of Dorothy Sayers. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Dorothy L. Sayers.

Remarkable Insights into Dorothy L. Sayers
As a long time admirer of the writings of Dorothy L. Sayers, I found Ms. Kenney's book to be highly insightful--both on Sayers the writer and Sayers the woman. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best book written on Sayers and is a "must" for anyone who enjoys her works.

An impressive and fully rounded presentation
Roy Lichtenstein is one of America's premier "pop art" painters and print makers. His style is instantly recognizable and powerfully influenced the popular culture of the last thirty years. Roy Lichtenstein: Interiors is an informative, wonderfully illustrated introduction and analysis of his "interior" paintings -- many published her for the first time. Robert Fitzpatrick is Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and effectively collaborates with Dorothy Lichtenstein, the late Leo Castelli, Sidney B. Felsen, and Cassandra Lozano to present an impressive and fully rounded presentation on the life, work, and artistic innovations of Lichtenstein. Roy Lichtenstein: Interiors is a very highly recommended addition to personal, academic, and community library American art history collections.

Blends social commentary with caricatures
Roy Lichtenstein has a distinctive pop art style which blends social commentary with caricatures: Interiors profiles many of his drawings of structures and space, with occasional people included in the sketches. Full-page color drawings accompany surveys of Lichtenstein's works and achievements.

Sally Bradford: The Story of a Rebel Girl

Average review score:

A very educational book with a spunky girl.
I really liked this book. I learned a lot. It was interesting. Sally was a spunky girl. She had the courage during a bad time to help her family.

Very good book in the Her Story series.
This book is about Sally Bradford, a young Confederate girl during the Civil War. This gives a Southern perspective of the war. Sally's father and brother are away fighting for the south. Even though the Brafords own no slaves the Yankees still burn her house and the family must flee to Richmond. Then, Sally's brother gets typhus and is sent to a Richmond hospital. He needs quinine but the stores have none because of the war. Sally must travel across enemy lines to get medicine for her brother before it's too late. This book showed that there was more to the Civil War then the slavery issue.

An Oldie but a Goodie!
First of all this book is not a new book but was first printed about fifty years ago. I stumbled onto my copy at a booksale a dozen years ago and have used it many times since. It is a wonderful resource for traditional New England Yankee cookery and is a great resource fo people who care about or study food history. It is full of wonderfully simple and delicious tradional recipes and captures the rich culinary history of the recent and not so recent past (the Pilgrims could have written some of these recipes!)

The foundations of New England culinary heritage
Two New Hampshire cooks share their recipes and the foundations of New England culinary heritage with a guide gathered from early American and Native American roots. Secrets of New England Cooking packs in dishes such as Indian pudding, oyster pie, succotash and coconut custard pie. No photos, but these are simple dishes requiring little visual assistance.

Excellent French Resource
This is an excellent resource for those students who study french and are reading Sherazada in literature or grammer classes. It also is a wonderful book.

excellent book about coming to terms with yourself
I truly enjoyed Sherazade. I read it in a North African women's literature class in college. . . it opened my eyes up to a totally different culture. Sherazade is a young woman searching for her true identity, attempting to reconcile her past with the present. I recommend this book for any one who is interested in reading about growing up in a different culture.
