My children and I always anxiously await any new addition to our Eric Carle library. It's hard to believe that our next book will meet our high expectations, but they always do. The honeybee and the Robber was a new angle to his interactive collection which we thoroughly enjoyed. My children had plenty of opportunity to share the moving pictures and read the book over and over.The beauty of this book is that the children enjoy "reading" it to themselves using the moving parts to stir their imagination

Paulsell's down-to-earth language and vivid imagery make it immediately accessible. And her way of talking about everyday bodily activities draws you right in as a reader and makes you feel wiser, as if you've just had a wonderful conversation with a close friend. I recently used this book in leading a retreat for college students. They connected deeply with every chapter we explored, from "Clothing the Body" to "Honoring the Sexual Body." I've given a copy of this book to my 80-year-old mother and plan to give my 14-year-old son a copy as well. "Honoring the body" is a full-orbed practice that offers young and old people alike so much more than well-intended slogans such as "Just Say No" or "Practice Safe Sex"!

I always enjoy Ms. Cooper's books about female aviators and this is no exception. Dot Swain Lewis was a Woman Airforce Service Pilot in WWII and also a very talented artist. This is a great book that captures the WASP spirit and is filled with great images and stories.

How High She Flies is a beautiful book about an extraordinary woman! Dorothy Swain Lewis is an artist and sculptor, a teacher and mother, a bright and humorous lady whose story is an inspiration. A World War II WASP, Dot has created the bronze statues to her fellow fliers at the Air Force Academy and the Air Force Museum, among other sites. Her statues, paintings and cartoons are included in this well-written and beautifully illustated coffee table book that truly celebrates a lady who has flown mighty high!

There's a real reward doing these humorous puzzles, a good chuckle at the end. I'm a cryptogram nut these days and I found this one a real hoot. Each puzzle rated a least a smile and at most a belly laugh. If you like this kind of puzzle, by all means get this one. Oh yes, the pages are nice and sturdy, so you don't have to worry about making holes in the paper when you erase.

I found this book to be error-free. It has page after page of puzzles to work on hour after hour. I recommend it for those who love cryptograms.

For the novice, a clue is provided for each puzzle at the end of the book.

I have had to buy several copies for family members who share my addiction to this clever type of puzzle.

There are enough puzzles to last days and days and days. That beat working 20 in a puzzlebook, and then having to buy a new puzzlebook. I like all cryptograms. This book was written for me!

This is a real treat after reading her poetry! So different from what you would expect from Ms. Sannes. You can really relate to the characters. The surroundings, feelings, and other details are well written. You can truely close your eyes and enter into the childhoos of Sabre'a. The transitions from childhood memories to the present and back is also well done. I can't wait for your next book!

I'm only 14 but i really love this book

The Insight Guide to Turkey has breathtaking photos, and exceptionally well-written essays about the country, its history, geography, politics and peoples.

I read this book in preparing to host a Turk at my house. I was seeking an appreciation of the country and its culture. What I got was a fascinating read (I couldn't put it down) and a very balanced view, in addition to a great history lesson. I am left with a desire to see this country and meet its people!

Insight guides offer a rich history, political analysis and cultural insight to the countries they cover. By using locally based writers they get the insiders view of what the various camps believe in. For a discerning traveller who wants to know about the country, the people, geography, food, industry etc and for those who wish to travel independently, this is the book to read. It is not tourist guide which says stay here, eat this menu, see this statue. All that is left to the standard tourist guide writers. If you never travel to a country, you can know it through the insight guide. Because Muslim and Turkish cultures are so different from ours (and Turkish is different to Arabic Muslim) it is important to be aware of the behaviours that are considered polite and those that are considered to be rude. This book equips you to deal courteously with salesmen who would be considered pushy by western standards. Did you know for instance that it is rude to kiss your partner in the street in Turkey (or any muslim country) even if it is only a peck on the cheek -whereas it is polite for men to kiss each other in public. Why were Turks feared by all of Europe for seven hundred years? Why do the Greeks still hate them with such passion (if you want to insult a Greek just call him a Turk and see the reaction). For depth of analysis on culture, history and geography, to understand what makes the people tick, you should read this book. Then if you travel to Turkey you may, like me, find the Turks to be the friendliest people you have ever met. You may also understand why such friendly people are capable of being represented in quite a different way in Movies like Midnight Express. Vive la difference!

This is one great book. I love Key West and someday I'm going to move there. It's home. When I discovered this book I didn't expect the reaction it gave me. It brought me back. The characters, the craziness, and the surreal island life of the Keys came rushing back to me like a tidal wave. It reminded me of what I love and miss about Key West. A wonderful read.

Ah, here we are. Here are those oft' cited "glory days of yesteryear" lovingly reprinted by John Boisonault and Tom Corcoran - and the timing couldn't be better. From a literary perspective, it's of course Springtime with various versions of "season" winding down. Jasmine and Cereus perfume the often thunderous nights and a hammock'd or curled-up casual sip'n read offers just the sought after relaxation. Nothing could be finer or more suitable than Key West Collection. With a deft, self-depreciating yet mannered air, Ms. Raymer recounts first-hand adventures and mis-adventures in the "open air asylum" of old Key West. Here is a roustabout Last Resort of costume parties, nudity, famous writers, domestic squabbles, internecine jealousies, street bums, dirtbags, cruise ship passengers, body piercings and arguments over who got here first. Sound familiar? The beauty of the selection, of course, is how little much of our "lifestyle" has changed over the past 50 years. There is, however, one aspect that veritably screams out for notice...and that is humor, ingenuity and tolerance. I've had the pleasure of meeting many of the characters in this book. (The description of Cigarette Willy, alone, brought back a swirl of memories from that place before modernization and AIDS where one "merely had to wish to make it so.") Events like Fantasy Fest, the Suds Run, the Hemingway Festival and the Conch Republic Celebration were hatched in a hazy improvisation long before being certified as "annual events". It is worth noting that all of the events in this book took place in those days often cited as when Key West was "dying" - those days when Duval Street was shuttered and the streets were empty. Well, as the Key West Collection attests, someone was here, and though they may not have been rapaciously gouging the City and its tourists for every last penny they could squeeze out of them, they somehow managed to thrive with renegade humor and world famous alacrity. In fact, they survived so well that they created the "Key West" that so many tourists come here, in vain, to discover. Tom Corcoran's photographs from the near distant past, evoke a time of shrimpers, flop houses, stripper bars, lazy afternoons, grey weatherered buildings and Tennessee Williams - not tricked-up plastic faux once-upon-a-time trinket stands, mind you: the real thing. Kennedy's collection is accessible, informative and a pleasure to read and mull over.

As a teacher- I found this book to an incredible assest to have in the clasroom. This is a very exemplary eclectic collection. It contains a wide variety of poem forms, styles, and authors. Usefully organized into category chapters, it easy to find a poem relating to a topic. The book is organized into useful sections that have equally as useful subcategories. These divisions make it easy to use these poems during a unit on poetry. The wide variety of types of poems in the book also is useful to assimilate these poems into the curriculum, either as a transitional piece or within a topic discussion. The students LOVE hearing these poems!

THIS BOOK IS BEAUTIFULLY DRAWN, THE WRITING IS SWEET AND WITTY. IT TEACHES TOLERANCE AND THE DIFFERENCES OF BEING OLD AND QUITE YOUNG. PATIENCE AND GIVING ALSO LEARNED. IT IS A LOVELY STORY OF GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER. I JUST LOVE IT. IT IS NOT YOUR USUAL RUN OF THE MILL STORIES...AT THE END MY DAUGHTER WANTS TO MAKE LEMONADE...SHE IS ALMOST FOUR. I HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY THIS WITH YOUR CHILDREN SOON!

Beautifully illustrated, this book tells the story of young Molly, a girl who thinks she's too old for a babysitter. Enter Mr. Herbert "from down the street. He had on the same rumpled sweater and polka dot bow tie he always wore." Molly thinks of ways to get him to quit, but clever Mr. Herbert's flexible nature and equanimity serve him well: "I don't need a babysitter!" Molly declared. "I'm too big!" Mr. Herbert...made his tangly eyebrows bounce. "You'll have to teach me what babysitters do."

As Mr. Herbert meets all her "challenges" with good humor and aplomb--never going out of character just to get her approval-- Molly warms up to the older man. They discover that they have a few things in common, and Molly learns that she can be babysat without losing her dignity. A wonderful book, it conveys that adults can meet children on their level without giving up their own.
