Get Your Eyes Opened
For a small book this was one is awesome in clearly stating the current condition of the church or more specifically the Christian. Even though the book was written in 1990 it is more than applicable today. I just finished the book this morning. If you want to rise above the average Christian life and find out what we should be doing then this book is for you. If you don't want to be motivated, don't read it, if you don't want to really serve Christ don't buy the book. If you don't want to reach souls for Jesus then this book isn't for you. But the hour is late and there are so many unreached people. Buy the book you'll never be the same.

Think again
This book will make you think about the very essence of your christianity. The way you think about salvation and possibly how departmentalised you can become. It could even shake the very foundations of your beliefs.

We need to hear this!
There has been so much confusion on who a Christian should be, how we should act or what we should believe. Finally not another "make me feel good about myself" band-aid to put over a gaping cancer wound. We need the truth and not a theory of who we should be and I thank Dr. Brown for a reality check.

A great addition of any bookshelf
This marriage of poetry and illustrations is like no other. As an educator I enjoy the layout of the book. The poems are divided into categories such as poems about weather, spooky poems, and animal poems. The illustrations are by Caldecott Medal artists - the best of the best! I have purchased countless copies of Sing a Song of Popcorn as it is a perfect gift to give to families to celebrate the arrival of a new baby. It is a book that all members of the family can enjoy - the young ones will enjoy the rhyming patterns of some of the poems and the silliness of others. The adults will treasure the inclusion of such classic poems as Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and Jack Prelutsky's entertaining "The Spaghetti Nut".

Collection of fantastic poems
You don't have to be a certain age to enjoy this book, full of wonderful poems from various well known poets. There is a poem for every walk of life in this book. This book is sure to be on your shelf for many years to come!

An excellent resource for elementary teachers :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of poetry and the beautiful illustrations which accompany. As a kindergarten teacher, I found the anthology to be an invaluable resource for introducing young children (or any children) to the world of poetry. :

Great Basic (And Folding!) Map of Dublin City Center
I definately plan on taking this map with me to Dublin. A couple of things you should know, however: It only covers Dublin city center... it DOES NOT cover much of the suburbs. It folds up in a way that allows you to open up it up just partially to the section that isolates the part you want. Why is this important? Because I don't want to be completely obviously a tourist with one of those huge conspicuous maps that tries to fly away in the wind. It's a very compact, very well labeled map that is a must have. Hope this helps!

Fabulous
All of the streetwise maps are fantastic. They're indestructible, they clearly show downtown areas without all the extra suburbs you don't need to see, they're indexed, they're a good size to tuck in a purse or bag, and they often show subway maps as well. Streetwise Dublin was my first and can't be beat, and now I buy a streetwise map for any city I go to. I highly recommend any of the streetwise maps.

Essential for travel within Dublin City Centre
One of the handiest maps you can get your hands on! Laminated to get you around Dublin on those "rare" rainy days and easy to read so you can find your way back home after a couple of pints. I've used it every time I've been to Dublin, and I'd recommend studying it a bit before you land!

spellbound, fascinating.
Intimidation, hunger, cold, torture, escapes, 20 year prison sentence! Newest suspense novel? No, true account of a life as lived by a young man in the former Soviet prison system. Josyp Terelya, son of high communist officials, raised by beloved grandmother as a catholic in underground Ukrainian Catholic Church.Josyp, then a teenager dares to challenge the occupaying Soviet authorities for the right of his beliefs and to practice his faith. Josyp's fellow prisoners are old and young people from different walks of life, different nationalities, ordinary and famous people, professionals, bishops, priests... Josyp persevered, survived and now shares with us 20 years of his nightmare. The book is spellbound, fascinating. I highly recommend it. It is a tale that very few survived to tell .-

Miraculous story of one man's faith
Mr. Terelya, now living in Canada, has survived unrelenting persecutions for the sake of his religion. To say he was saved by God is an understatement. This book will reinforce the beliefs of all Christians and especially verify the stories of the Blessed Virgin told to many Catholics.

Incredibly wonderful and enlightening
This book tells of the true story of Josyp Terelya, a Ukranian Catholic. He would go to his death if need be to hold on to his faith despite the gruesome, inhumane treatment by the Communists trying to break him of believing in God. Fast and light reading. Would like to meet him one day.

Cogent Defense of Messianic Prophetic Fulfillment in Jesus
Michael Brown has written another classical and powerful defense of Christianity/Messianic Judaism in this third volume. While Brown planned for this to be the last installment, he actually divided the remaining topics of Messianic prophecy, objections to the New Testament, and objections from the Jewish Traditions into two separate volumes. Presumably, the latter two in the above list will be contained in volume 4. However, Messianic prophecy probably warranted a separate volume as Brown undertook painstaking analyses of many of the prominent Biblical passages widely attributed by Christians to be fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. This includes 13 sections devoted to Isaiah 53, 3 sections to Daniel 9:24-27, 2 sections to Psalm 22, and single sections on Psalm 2, Psalm 16, Psalm 40, Psalm 45, Haggai 2, and Zechariah 12:10. There is also a beginning section on prophecies, symbols, and types of the Messiah in the Torah(first 5 books of the Old Testament) as well as several accessory sections on topics such as "provable prophecies" that Jesus has fulfilled or is fulfilling. Brown has debated many prominent rabbis and anti-missionaries and thus is familiar with most, or perhaps all, objections widely used against Messianic prophetic fulfillment in Jesus Christ.

Brown establishes the Messianic veracity of such passages mentioned by examining, when applicable and/or necessary, the Biblical Hebrew along with contextual and grammatical considerations of the passages in question, and utilizing early Rabbinical sources which corroborate the Christian Messianic application of certain Biblical passages. Most importantly, Brown demonstrates that the New Testament writers' exegeses of the Old Testament were perfectly acceptable in terms of methodology. Meanwhile, Brown provides scholarly answers to common objections to the various prophecies.

This is definitely a must-read for those interested in examining whether or not the Christian assertion of Messianic prophetic fulfillment in Jesus Christ can withstand scrutiny, especially when viewed in light of the historical Jewish understanding of such texts as well as proper studies in Hebrew linguistics and ancient Biblical exegeses performed by the Jewish sages.

THIRD VOLUME ON MESSIANIC APOLOGETICS : TOPS
Dr. Michael Brown, a Messianic Jew, has really done his
homework and it shows. In this, the third and final volume
in a series, he demonstrates excellent arguements to the
effect that MANY orthodox/Jewish attempts to "read Jesus
entirely out of the Hebrew Bible and prophets" is full of
many prejudicial and highly biased, even spurious arguements.

This is not at all light reading, but it is well worth
the effort to understand the Christian/Messianic JEWISH
view on Yeshua [or Yahshua] as the promised and prophesied
Messiah/Savior and Deliverer. The evidence compiled here
from many Hebrew sources is really very impressive. No serious
Bible student or apologist should be without all three of
these excellent volumes. I would not hesitate to give it
the very highest rating. Don't miss this one.

Rambling 17th century gossip
It's fun reading this collection of digressive informal anecdotes about famous (and some obscure) Englishmen. If you enjoyed "An Instance of the Fingerpost" (where some of thc characters appear) you'd like this. As a primary source for information it gets less reliable the further back it goes. Aubrey was born in 1626 so his accounts of Shakespeare and Elizathans are a generation removed, but he had met Harvey and Penn and had been through the Civil War and the rule of Cromwell.

A unique gleaning of 17th century English history and gossip
Because its author never completed most of the entries for this biographical work, and never published it, what he did set down about his varied noble and ignoble subjects is uncensored, gossipy, perhaps unsubstantiated, and delightful. If you like browsing in Pepys' diary, or are fascinated by English life in the 17th century, this is the book to leave about for the occasional free moment.

Awesome Ministry Tool!
After reading this, Jim Goll just jumped to the top of my list of all time favorite authors. He makes the words on the pages so easy to read and to digest in your spirit man. I personally was touched on three various leves. One I learned so much about the prophetic ministry that you don't hear on a regular basis. Secondly, I learned much about myself, my personality, and preferences concerning ministry. Lastly I felt that I was being fed rich and strong meat. I found myself growing and maturing in many areas of my life and ministry. This is a must read for all who want to learn more about the prophetic and be on the cutting edge front lines of ministry.

Think you're a prophet - read this book!
Jim W. Goll goes into a very deep study of the role and person of the prophet. In many ways this book reads like a text book but don't let that turn you off. I found this book very informative and a great book to read. It is not a fast read. Due to the textbook nature of the book there are chapters and even sections of chapters that you will want/need to chew on a bit and perhaps re-read to get the full value of it.

Goll starts with a very brief history of some prophetic movements, moves on to some characteristics of prophetic people and spends the rest of the book giving examples of prophets and how to build the gift that God has placed on the prophetic person. There is a lot of info about the blessings and pitfalls to watch out for.

I would recommend this book to every pastor and every person who has ever acted in the prophetic or believes that they have a prophetic gift.

author embroidered too much--irritating
I have not finished this book. The author's descriptions of Mary are off-putting. For example: "If early images are correct, she had a small straight mouth, a thin chiseled nose, and a drawn look that was sometimes sorrowful. She was of medium height and had brown hair with dark bangs and eyebrows, her face neither long nor round but oval, her hands and fingers tapered, delicate, and long. She was a regular peasant in a small, regular hillside house, and her life had been one of prayer and toil: drawing water, cooking, and repairing clothes. She had subsisted on fruit, fish, and bread; in manner always serene and demure...."

I have not seen the Blessed Mother, but I would be surprised if her expression is "drawn." And I doubt her manner was "always serene and demure." A "regular peasant"? The mother of God, while pregnant, traveled to see her pregnant cousin and stay with her till the birth of her child. At a wedding, she basically told her Son to turn the water into wine.

Contrast the author's description with the words of Julian of Norwich (admittedly a saint and the first woman to write a book in English): "a simple maid and meek, so young she seemed like a mere child--yet the very same age when she conceived. And God showed me then something of the wisdom and truth of her soul In particular, I saw her attitude toward God, her Maker, how she marveled with great reverence when he wished to be born of her, who was a mere and simple creature he himself had made. It was this wisdom, this truth, seeing how great was her Maker compared to her own littleness, that made her say to Gabriel, 'Behold me, God's handmaid.' Then I knew for certain that she was more worthy and more full of grace than all the rest of God's creation, with the sole exception of the manhood of Christ."

Also, I personally dislike the notion that Mary's life was one of "prayer and toil." What about relationships with people? And she had a Little Boy. Didn't she play with Him? I feel, think and believe her life was one of LOVE.

So, the visions are interesting, but the author defeats himself more than a little with perilously distracting--and highly debatable--asides.

Last Secret
EXCELLENT!! An eye-opener! Accurate data. Everyone should read this book and be enlightened.

REVEALING! Human history entwined w/h Mary's Apparitions!
Buy this book. You will benefit highly - if you don't - I can ony say I'll pray for you. This book is excellent! Here is a very fair-handed review of human history and Mary's apparitions throughout. As a Catholic, I find nothing "coincidental" in the linking of plagues and apparitions, wars and apparitions, healings and apparitions - and so on. What I like about this book is that it knits these things together in a sensible fashion. The picture one then begins to see is so revealing! Not all apparitions are, um, Heaven Sent - it speaks clearly on these as well. It is by no means a "gullible" book.

Soul Food
This wonderful book will appeal to those Christians who understand that the mystical is real and who do not subscribe to a cynical interpretation of Scripture. Michael Brown's journey from a secular life as a journalist to a devotional life centered on the Blessed Virgin Mother will console those who struggle to sustain their faith in the post-Christian paganism of the contemporary world. The central theme of the book is spiritual warfare against the demonic realities which surround us and which have penetrated almost every aspect of popular culture. The book maintains a sober balance between the recognition that evil is an ontological, personal reality and the Catholic hopefulness that it cannot overcome us. In simple, lucid prose Mr. Brown describes the life of the spiritual warrior whose main weapons are the rosary, Mass and prayer. He discusses the significance of the many Marian apparitions in the last 150 years and recounts his own experiences at Medjugorge. Michael Brown reminds us that penance, humility and quiet devotion are essential to our own salvation and for the amelioration of the coming chastisements.

Gripping story of personal spiritual warfare
This is a story of the author's personal spiritual journey home to Christianity. It begins with him being of the world and all about his career and worldly goals. Then after some Angelic intervention, Mr. Brown begins his long journey. That changes his whole outlook on life and the world around him. It is a riveting and emotional tale. Mr. Brown is an accomplished investigative journalist. His strong research style adds an air of credibility to a very personal story that leads deeply into spiritual warfare. He effectively sprinkles guidance and prayers along with the narrative of his journey. This is a powerful book. I could not put it down. I have bought copies for a number of family members and friends and all have found it gripping. Some even saw it as a personal awakening!

The Best book
i read this book at least 4 years ago, lent it out and never got it back. I am thrilled that i have found it again and can not wait to read it again. If ever in doubt please read this book. God bless! Mr. Brown if you can email me at moonshadowhollow@hotmail.com that would be great!
